A Study on the Performance of Ondol with a Ventilation System

Modern apartment houses are constructed to be relatively airtight with a high heat insulation system to increase the energy efficiency. Such a system has a range of deleterious effects due to the insufficient ventilation. In this study, the ondol system, which is used as a heat source typical of winter in Korea, was set as the default system to evaluate the indoor heat environment according to the ventilation method, the factors of energy reduction by the ventilation system was analyzed. The experimental apparatus was used to simulate the ambient conditions for a certain constant temperature and humidity chamber. The experimental results showed that the supply water temperature higher air volume decreases with increasing supply air temperature in the following order: floor supply/exhaust > total heat exchange supply/exhaust > forced supply/exhaust. Through this study, the applicability of various ventilations could be examined.
Heat Flow Analysis of Inner Groove Tube for Latent Heat Exchanger in Condensing Gas Boiler

These days, household condensing gas boilers are an obligatory trend. The use of environmentally-friendly boilers that emit less pollutant, such as CO and NOx, are strongly recommended. In this paper, heat flow analysis of the additional inner groove in the tube of the secondary latent heat exchanger was studied to increase the efficiency. A 20% difference in the heat transfer area was obtained with the addition of an inner grove, which showed an increase in the amount of heat transferred. Preform Design of a Forged Punch by Approximate Optimization

In this paper, attempts were made to design a preform for a final punch inexpensively using the proposed approximate optimization method or metamodel-based simulation optimization. The design objective of this work is to achieve a uniform distribution of effective strains, the angle dimension of the preformed punch is chosen as a design variable, and maximum underfill ratio is used as a constraint. For this optimization, a computer simulation of a practical punch forging process is run using DEFORM software, in which a preformed punch(workpiece), a master punch(upper die), and a bottom die are dealt with. A validation method is introduced to determine if the simulation results match the actual forging process. In addition, this work presents the detailed design optimization procedure consisting of (i) generation of an initial metamodel, (ii) metamodel optimization, (iii) validation of metamodel-predicted optimum, and (iv) metamodel improvement.

A Study on the Heat Sink with internal structure using Peltier Module In the Natural and Forced Convection

The Peltier Module has been used to dissipate the heat from electronic devices and electronic components. In this module, a heat sink is used to release the operating heat into the air outside. This study addressed the heat transfer characteristics for a heat sink with an inner tunnel. Under forced and natural convection conditions, the heat transfer characteristics were different. Therefore, the cooling and heating performances were studied for the heat sink, which has an inner tunnel. The heat transfer conditions were also evaluated by performing an experimental test, which investigated the heat transfer characteristics related to the variance in time and temperature distribution. Study on miscibility, morphology, thermal and mechanical properties of elastomeric impact modifier reinforced Poly(lactide)/Cellulose ester blends

Cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB) is a biodegradable resin with excellent optical properties, but it is difficult to apply film process. In this study, an attempt was made to improve the processability of CAB using polyactic acid and the mechanical properties using an impact modifier. Polylacitc acid (PLA)/Cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB) blends with an impact modifier were prepared using a twin screw extruder. The temperature range was
, and the screw speed was fixed to 200 rpm. To evaluate the miscibility of impact modified CAB/PLA, the glass transition behavior and morphology were observed by DSC and FE-SEM. The mechanical properties were investigated by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and a Universal Testing Machine (UTM). In addition, the effect of an impact modifier in the polymer matrix was determined using a notched Izod impact strength tester. Finally, the PLA/CAB/impact modifier 75/25/10 ratio was found to be a compatible system. In the 10wt.% impact modifier, the sample had a 4 times higher izod impact strength than the non-toughening composition.
Optimal Design of Gangway Connections for the High Speed Railway Vehicle

The gangway connection of the articulated high speed railway vehicles (HSRV) is a double wrinkled rubber component to seal the air of the corridor under a range of angular deviations between the carriage end parts. From the results of non-linear structural analysis, one of the severe loading conditions for the connection is mixed mode (rolling+yawing) angular displacements while passing through the small-radius curved siding track of the HSRV depot. In this study, to ensure the safety enhancement of the component, the optimal design for the cross section of that was performed using the Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization (SIMP) method. Nonlinear finite element analysis confirmed that the decreases in the maximum principal strain of the optimized design under rolling and mixed modes are 68% and 39%, respectively, compared to the initial design.
Coupled Thermal-Structural Analysis of the Combustor Assembly of 200kW Micro Gas Turbine Engine

In this study, the thermal-structural behavior of the combustor assembly of 200 kW micro gas turbine system was performed. The typical combustor assembly consists of a Liner, Inner & Outer Case, Burner and Nozzle ring, etc. There are some gaps and friction elements between the components to compensate for the different thermal expansions of various components. Therefore, the developed finite element model includes nonlinear elements. The boundary support conditions of the combustor assembly significantly affect the stress distribution due to the high temperature gradient. This paper deals with parametric studies to quantitatively determine the effects of the variation of the support conditions on the stress distribution and deformation of various components of combustor assembly. These results may be useful for the design of the combustor assembly.

The role of bass in band or ensemble music literally sets up the foundation of harmony, which must be regarded first. On the other hand, this is also considered so basic or stable that it can be slightly boring to the listeners. Consideration is needed to make the varied trials more exciting. In this sense, Rutger Gunnarsson showed these fine examples not in performing music but in pop music through the Great ABBA. He could make a fabulous sound with only a basic performance, not with a florid technique or rhetorical skills. All bassists must bear in mind that the overall performance depends on the bass. This study was designed to recognize the importance of prosocial behavior, aimed at developing and utilizing a tea ceremony education program to foster prosocial behavior in children to be used in pre-school during early childhood when basic behavioral patterns are established. The sample was composed of 90 children from K pre-school located in GangDong-Gu and 90 children from K pre-school located in Jung-Gu. Their ages varied from 3 to 5 years old and the family's financial position was approximately middle class. The results were as follows, the change in children's prosocial behavior according to the group showed that childhood tea ceremony education through the tea ceremony education program affected the improvement in children's prosocial behavior. This suggests that childhood tea ceremony education are useful for improving children's basic habits and prosocial behavior, as well as character education.

The purpose of this study was to explore the features of virtual currency, which has become a hot topic recently. The characteristics of virtual currency were examined in terms of the effect on consumer acceptance. Therefore, when using the accepted model of the technology, the derived results should be analyzed by SEM. The research results showed that versatility and reliability affect the ease of use and safety is not have an effect. The utility did not have a direct effect on the attitudes and satisfaction, and the ease of use directly affects the ease of use, attitude and satisfaction. Finally, satisfaction with the attitude had a positive impact on the time of use. Effective strategies to manage the effect of the virtual currency will be possible to formulate from the results of this study.
Behaviors of hand washing practice Korean adolescents, 2011-2013: The Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey

The purpose of this assessment was to provide the basic data for setting up education in terms of 'Hand wash' as one of the health plan & education programs for adolescents. The task analyzed the behavior of students regarding hand washing, which were ranged from middle school to high school. The SPSS 18.0 statistical program, frequency-test and cross-analysis were used for data analysis by 2011, 2012 and 2013, which were the recent 3 years, the Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey data. In the data, the response of "Never washed" from students before having a meal accounted for 29.4% in 2011, 30.5% in 2012 and 18.5% in 2013, respectively. Unlike other subjects, these facts suggest that this kind of behavior should be considered significant under the assessment. By tracking the trend over three years, some facts were confirmed in that students living in the metropolitan and medium-sized cities were less likely to wash their hands than students in small- sized towns. In terms of gender, female students were less likely to wash their hands than male students. Regarding the type of school, more students in the public middle & high schools had a tendency to respond "Never hand wash" than the students in the special-purpose high schools. Furthermore, as the grade was increased in middle school and high school, students were less likely to wash their hands before meals in school. Therefore, Health promotion and health education for students should be conducted more carefully with more emphasis on this point.
A Comparative Study for University of Teacher Education Curriculum and Reform between China and Korea

The aim of this study was to review the characteristics of teacher education curriculum and reform tendency between China and Korea. This study used literature analysis of various studies, catalogs, documents of education universities in China and Korea. The results were as follows. Some common features in the teacher education curriculum were observed, such as the purposes of education, constituent area of the curriculum, and subjects, such as pedagogy and practice teaching. Other differences included that China requires more credits for graduation than Korea, but the elective subjects are assigned fewer credits. In both countries, it is necessary to increase the relevant subjects (pedagogy, practice teaching) for the specialty of a preliminary teacher and establish a permanent system for the curriculum needs of students. In terms of reform tendency, both countries should change the training concept and teacher education philosophy, mainly on enhancing quality-oriented education, emphasizing the students' sustainable self development ability, as well as attaching importance to concept of lifelong education. These results are expected to be helpful in improving the teacher education curriculum in China and Korea.
A Study on the Performance Measurement Method for National Research and Development Projects

The aim of this paper was to suggest a national R&D performance measurement index from a new perspective. Government is trying to transit the R&D paradigm from 'catch-up' into 'lead- forward'. The problem of the existing performance evaluation was first identified, and the performance evaluation method of domestic & overseas research center & government was then reviewed. In particular, this study first referred to the creation & innovation indices, and focused on the national innovation and R&D ecosystem. Next, D'Aveni's Hypercompetition theory was applied to suggest a new performance measurement index, and AHP analysis interviewed from the domestic R&D performance evaluation experts was performed. This study contributes to the new national R&D performance index for the creative economy.
The Correlation Study of Spiritual Well-Being, Self-Control, Organizational Commitment for Prevention of Suicidal Attempt on Korean Soldiers

Aim: This study examined the correlation study of spiritual well-being, self-control, organizational commitment for the prevention of suicidal attempts by Korean soldiers. Methods: This study was non-experimental survey research design through a questionnaire containing 3 categories, spiritual well-being, self-control, organizational commitment with 599 subjects in the military in Korea. The data collected from the 1st to 28th of December, 2013, analyzed t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation coefficient using the SPSS 18.0 program. Results: Spiritual well-being and self-control have a positive correlation with organizational commitment on object. Conclusion: To increase the organizational commitment of soldiers in the military, the importance of the spiritual well-being should be recognized as a health problem. In addition, it is also important to develop an educational program for achieving spiritual well-being, self-control on soldiers. This should make a healthier life for soldiers and contribute to society.
A Review of Studies on the Farmer's Safety and Health in Korea on the ergonomic perspective

Although agriculture has a long history, there has beena lack of consideration and interest in farmers. This paper considered the present condition of agriculture on anergonomic perspective using a literature review and suggestsdirections for afuture study to improve the work efficiency and safety-health of farmers. The results showed that the literature could beclassified 4 categories; the design of agriculture equipment, safety-health, safety management, and product design. The safety-health category contained the majority of papers with product design category containing the minority. In future, a study ofproduct liability probability, the design of a work and rest time, and clothes design against cold will be needed.
An Empirical Analysis on Technical Efficiency and Productivity Changes of Photonics Industry

This study estimated and decomposed the productivity changes into technological change and efficiency change components for the photonics industry and examined ways of imporving the productive efficiency. Unlike most previous studies, this study employed a non-oriented Malmquist productivity index, which is a non-radial method and deals directly with the input surpluses and output shortfalls. The empirical results show that the productivity of the photonics industry has increased. The main reason for this is the increase in technical efficiency. In addition, there was a statistically significant difference in the productivity changes according to the firm's geographic location and participation in government support programs. These findings suggest that the government's regional strategic industry promotion policy has contributed to improvements in the productive efficiency of photonics industry. The approach presented in this study could be used as a practical reference guide to help enhance the competitiveness of the photonics industry.
A Study about a Stress and index of Living Activity in accordance with the General Characteristics of Elderly Nursing Home Residents

The present paper examined the stress and ADL (activities of daily living) index in relation to the characteristics of the elderly in nursing homes. For this study, questionnaires were given to 110 seniors in the N-district of Seoul, and S-myeon, Hoengseong-gun, Gangwon Province from May 1 to September 30, 2013. For data analysis, t-test, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed using the SPSSWIN18.0 program. The analysis of actual proof was made at a significance level of 5 percent. The findings from the analyses were as follows: first, the relocation syndrome into nursing homes has a positive correlation with the stress of deficient family visits in the category of daily stresses; second, depression has a positive correlation with the stresses of deficient private time and space and deficient family visits in the category of daily stresses; third, weight control has a positive correlation only with the stress of deficient private time and space in the category of daily stresses, whereas a nutrition deficiency has positive correlation with the stress of deficient family visits in the category of daily stresses. These findings may serve as ground source data for establishing policies regarding the stresses in relation to the characteristics and ADL index of the elderly in nursing homes.
Identification of resources and competences for value co-creation in the relationship network of high-tech B2B firm

Value co-creation is an important business strategy these days in both the business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) markets. The aim of this study was to identify specialized resources and competences for value co-creation in the relationship network within a high-tech B2B market. A case of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC) with customers and partners was chosen as the study case. Based on the observations, contents analysis of the secondary data and unstructured interviews with former TSMC employees, 4 critical resource types (financial, knowledge, efficiency and intellectual resource) and 6 competence types (relational, collaboration, strategic, innovation, managing and service capability), were performed as the principal factors for value co-creation in the relationship network. A research framework that can analyze the value co-creation phenomena in the relationship network was established.
Effect of integrated educational activities on the improvement in social skills of children with developmental delays

The purpose of this study was to integrate the general education activities in the preschool developmental delay regarding the effect on the social skills of infant and young children. The participants of this research were young children with a developmental delay, who were enrolled in a school for the physically challenged in Gim-Hae City, South Kyongsangnamdo in Korea. An experimental qualitative module was selected to observe the social consequences after taking the extensive educational programs on young children with a developmental delay. The data was based on the observations of a researcher regarding the child's behavior and videotaped material was analyzed qualitatively in terms of the occasions and their social behaviors while extensive education was performed. The qualitative analysis explains the lower arena of the learning social skill including the quantitative changes in the communicational skill, and self-control skills.
Factors influencing the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination of females in their twenties in some Busan areas

Purpose: The goal of this study is to assess the factors influencing the HPV vaccination of females in their twenties. Methods: The survey was conducted during 2013.11.11-28 with a convenience sample of 488 participants. Results: The mean score of their knowledge about cervical cancer shows 2.54 out of 7. 96.7% and 31.5% of respondents have heard about cervical cancer and HPV, respectively. Only 2.7% are vaccinated by the recommendations from the medical teams. The higher the knowledge scores, the more the subjects are vaccinated. The factors influencing HPV vaccination appear to be prior knowledge about the HPV. Conclusion: The knowledge level is low compared to previous studies. Despite this, the trend of vaccination rate is higher. Medical teams need to promote vaccination. Accordingly, education and promotion are needed for the unvaccinated.
Effect of Death Education Program for University Students

The purpose of the study was to develop a death education program and evaluate the effectiveness of the program on the attitudes toward death, suicidal ideation and meaning in life among university students. The participants were 24 students, 11 in the experimental group and 13 in the control group. The death education program was developed and practiced with the experimental group for 8 sessions. The death education program reduced the negative attitude significantly toward death, and increased the meaning in life significantly in the experimental group. Suicidal ideation was also decreased but it was not statistically significant. There were significant differences in attitude toward death and meaning in life between the experimental and control group but not in suicidal ideation.

This study discusses the customer satisfaction as a result of the attributes of menu choice that can meet the needs of foreign visitors. Furthermore, it discusses the possibility that Korean food can be recognized internationally and the research data be available in advance for the people who are going to visit Korea. This study is based on documentary records and empirical studies to analyze and appreciate the effects of customer satisfaction in restaurants that foreigners usually visit. In this study, products in a B2B online shopping mall were classified efficiently using DEA, and an operational process is presented. The results using the data of M company were used to calculate the workload according to the category. The work load of managing the product using the DEA has been distributed evenly. In addition, the classification of A is composed of the highest net income, and it was intended to be managed centrally by the company. Business classifications C and B, which were made of a low severity workload, were reduced. Therefore, efficient operation is possible when applied to an actual business.

The aim of this study was to search for a security strategy and security education program by analyzing the security awareness of universities with and without Department of Military Science. The results of university student's security awareness revealed a normal level of recognition and differences according to region and gender. The recognition of stability of current Korean national security is normally low on average, which suggests that students feel anxiety towards national security. In addition, the North Korea provocation influence on national security has been recognized highly (score of 4.33 on average). The national security awareness of university students in the case of whether establishing a Dept. of Military Science or not showed a normal level, which revealed a score of 3.44, and differed according to region, gender and recruitment, and had a relationship with the recognition of Dept. of Military Science management. Therefore, the political consideration of security authorities is in strong demand to improve the security awareness of general university students, and have an influx of great human resources by advertising the educational contents, advantages and future career of Dept. of Military Science students.
Professional Job Perception and Job Satisfaction, and Its Related Factors Among Medical Recorders Engaged in General Hospitals

This study was conducted to determine the factors affecting the professional job perception and job satisfaction of medical recorders working at general hospitals. The study subjects were 314 medical recorders and health information technicians working at 42 general hospitals. The investigation was conducted using a standardized self-administered questionnaire during March 4-April 23, 2013. As a result, there was a significant correlation among gender, age, marital status, monthly salary, BMI, position, aptitude for one's duties, wish for a career transition, and perception of the prospects of the social status of medical recorders and health information technicians in the future and professional job perception. In particular, the demographic characteristics and work-related characteristics suggested a high correlation with the professional job perception. There was a significant correlation between age, monthly salary, BMI, position, work satisfaction, wish for a career transition, perception of the prospects of the respondent's social status, and professional job perception and work satisfaction. In particular, the work-related characteristic variables and professional job perception indicate a high correlation with the work satisfaction. The results indicated a high correlation between the demographic characteristics and job-related characteristics variables in terms of the professional job perception of medical recorders and health information technicians and between the work-related characteristics and professional job perception variables in terms of work satisfaction.
Effect of sun screen utilizing Porphyra-334 derived from Ocean Algae for skin protection

One of the most effective ways of preventing skin aging is to protect the skin from UV radiation, which was identified as the primary cause of photoaging. Therefore, it is necessary to develop natural and environment-friendly materials to the human skin. This study examined the effects of MAAs extracted from Chlamydononas hedleyi on UV protection and anti-inflammation in human skin cells. The function of porphyra-334 in the skin, which was isolated and purified from MMAs mixture, was tested in terms of its UV protective ability and anti-inflammation. As a result, porphyra-334 played a role in protecting the skin from UV radiation and anti-inflammation through the suppression of COX-2 expression. These results suggest that porphyra-334 can be a useful material in cosmetic products because it can protect the skin from UV radiation and anti-inflammation.

This study examined the health status and relative factors of 468 people of the latter stage of more than 75-year-old in 2011 the Korean National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey. The subjective health status were influenced significantly by sex(OR=0.456, 95%CI=0.257-0.805), occupation(OR=1.437, 95%CI=0.963-2.149), spouse(OR=0.673, 95%CI=0.443 -1.022), degree of stress(OR=0.476, 95% CI=0.309-0.730), depression(OR=0.410, 95% CI=0.238-0.704), subjective oral status(OR=1.874, 95% CI=1.332-2.643), smoking(OR=0.738, 95% CI= 0.523-1.039), drinking(OR=1.251, 95% CI=1.017-1.540), and waking practice(OR=1.698, 95% CI=1.188 -2.431). The results suggest that health education of active participations and publicity policies should be established and help improve the subjective health status in the latter stage of a 75-year-old.
Development of Compatible Health Level 7 Parser

The previous HL7 interface should be developed as a separate package or conversion module for each version to process HL7 messages from different versions. This study designed and developed an HL7 parser compatible among different versions based on the requirements of compatibility defined in HL7 V2.5. According to the structure of the parser, the inheritance concept in object-oriented programming was adopted so that the class object of the HL7 message from the lower version could be inherited to the class object of the upper version. Therefore, every version's HL7 messages could be processed using only the upper class' object regardless of the version. To evaluate the compatibility of the developed parser, 700 data sets about inpatients with rheumatoid arthritis were used. The 700 cases underwent the compatibility test successfully. In the near future, further research on the Inter-compatibility HL7 parser is planned.
Factors Influencing Diabetes Educational Needs in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus

This study was carried out to identify the perceived educational needs of diabetes mellitus type 2(DM 2) patients and the factors influencing their diabetes educational needs. The descriptive and correlation study design was used. The data was collected from January 2, 2012 to February 29 10, 2012 and a total of 346 diabetes patients responded in a structured instrument regarding their characteristics, diabetes knowledge and needs for diabetes education. The data was analyzed using ANOVA, t-test, Scheffe test, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. The mean score of the diabetes educational needs was 3.03 (range: 1.09-4.00). Of the factors significantly influencing the diabetes educational needs, age (
=-.25, p<.001), diabetes education participation of the family (
=.21, p=.003), and self blood sugar test (
=-.13, p=.045) explained the 11% variance of the diabetes educational needs. These three factors need to be considered when implementing diabetes education programs for diabetes management.
The Study on the Microbiological Limitation Standards Setting of Handmade Rice-cake by Steam Processing

The HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) system was applied to Handmade Rice Cakes. The main ingredients of rice cakes, work facilities and workers were provided from the KB company located in Seogye-dong Yongsan-gu, Seoul between September 12, 2012 and February 13, 2013. The manufacturing process chart was prepared by referring to the manufacturing process of rice cake manufacturers in general. Microbiological hazard analysis of the raw materials and after the steaming process of rice-cakes showed a safe result. On the other hand, the microorganism test on the manufacturing environment and workers suggested that the microbiological hazard can be reduced through systematic cleaning and disinfection, accompanied by improved personal hygiene based on hygienic education for workers on the management of microorganisms in the working area.
Relationship between Emotional Labor, Job Stress and Eating Attitudes among Clinical Nurses

This study examined the relationship between the emotional labor, job stress and eating attitudes among clinical nurses. The data was collected from 434 clinical nurses in G city, from February 21 to March 31, 2013 and analyzed using the SPSS 17.0 program. The mean levels of the clinical nurse's emotional labor, job stress and eating attitudes were 3.53, 3.81 and 2.27, respectively. The emotional labor showed a significant positive correlation between job stress (r= .570, p=<.001) and eating attitudes (r= .114, p<.05). In addition, the factors affecting the eating attitude were BMI (
=262, p<.001), weight loss exercise (
=.203, p<.001), internal medicine (
=178, p<.001), surgery (
=.102, p=.043), and emotional labor (
=106, p=0.49). These variables accounted for 16.8% of the variance in eating attitudes among clinical nurses. Therefore, working with differentiated departmental programs will be required to improve the eating attitudes and the BMI.
Shear bond strength analysis of PFM metal and zirconia with different surface condition

This study examined the effects of the shear bond strength when the surface condition of the metal and zirconia, each being the lower structures, was different when determining the bond strength (metal group) of the metal lower structure with upper ceramics, and the shear bond strength (zirconia group) of zirconia lower structure with the upper ceramics in prosthetic appliances of metal-ceramic crown and zirconia-ceramic crowns. The metal groups were divided into a total of four groups: the group with no condition on the metal surface(NM), the group with sand-blasting(SM), the group with applied opaque ceramics(OM), and the group with applied opaque ceramics and sand-blasting(SOM). The zirconia groups were also separated into four groups: the group with no condition(NZ), the group with sand-blasting(SZ), the group treated with ZirLiner on the zirconia surface(LZ), and the group applied with ZirLiner along and sand-blasting(SLZ). To examine the effects on the shear bond strength according to the surface condition of each of the four metal and zirconia groups, SPSS was used to conduct one-way ANOVA. For metal-ceramic crowns, it would be best to apply opaque ceramics after sand-blasting on the surface of the metal, the lower structure. For zirconia-ceramic crowns, it is recommended to apply the ZirLiner after sand-blasting on the surface of zirconia, the lower structure.
Construction of a Structural Model about the Perceived health status, Pain, Sleep pattern and Quality of life in the Elderly

This study examined the fitness of a path model for the relationship among the perceived health status, pain, sleep pattern, and quality of life in the elderly. The data was collected by questionnaires to 276 elderly in J city. The collected data was analyzed using PASW 18.0(win) and AMOS 18.0(win) program. The model fit indices for the hypothetical model were in good agreement with the recommended levels (
/DF=1.393, p=.077, GFI=.971, TLI=.983, CFI=.989, RMSEA=.038). Based on the constructed model, the quality of life was influenced directly by the perceived health status, pain and sleep pattern, indirectly by the perceived health status and pain. Pain was influenced directly by the perceived health status, and sleep pattern was influenced directly by pain. These results highlight the need for the development of intervention strategies for the promotion of perceived health status in the elderly to improve the quality of life.
Effect of Fast-Tempo Auditory Stimulation during Treadmill Gait Training in Patients with Hemiplegia

This study examined the differences in the improvement of walking ability between treadmill training with fast-tempo auditory stimulation (FTAS group) and the general treadmill training (control group) in hemiplegia. The subjects were allocated randomly into both groups. Eleven patients of the FTAS group and 11 patients of the control group underwent training for 30 minutes per day for 6 weeks. Before and after intervention, the walking ability was measured by the 10m gait-evaluation and the number of steps in 20m walking. The gait velocity was improved further in the FTAS group than the control group (p<.05). This study provides evidence of the efficacy of treadmill training with FTAS in improving the gait ability when compared to the general methods in patients with chronic hemiplegia.
Current chewing difficulty according to dental prosthesis needs in Korean elderly

This study examined the relationship between the current chewing difficulty and the dental prosthesis needs of the elderly Koreans to improve their oral health status. A total of 1,177 subjects over 65 years who participated in the the Five Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were examined. An oral examination was conducted to determine the number of missing teeth and dental prosthesis required. A questionnaire was given to measure the sociodemographic characteristics, concerns about oral health, chewing ability and pronunciation ability. Statistical analysis was done using the SPSS 19.0 program. The percentage of the current chewing difficulty in Korean elderly was 42.9%. After adjusting for confounder variables, the odds ratio of the fixed prosthodontics needs were 1.22 (95% CI; 0.74 to 2.02), the odds ratio of partial denture needs were 2.47 (95% CI; 1.71 to 3.56) and the odds ratio of the full denture needs were 2.06 (95% CI; 0.73 to 5.81). The dental prosthesis needs were associated with the current chewing difficulty. Therefore, dental prosthesis support policy and public oral health promotion for the elderly is necessary.
A study on the types of gender role identity in middle-aged men using Q methodology

This study examined the gender role identity within the Korean context with particular focus on how the changes within Korean society may have impacted on the gender role identities of middle-aged men. This research adapting Q methodology created a sampling distribution of P with 40 middle-aged men aged between 40-59 years old. Each of 40 Q samples were placed in a forced distribution of 9 scales. Secondary analysis of the results was then conducted by principal component factor analysis using the QUANL PC program. Middle-aged men are likely to have traditional masculinity and newly developed femininity, such as caring for others and sensitivity. This means that a consideration of these characteristics needs to understand the gender role identity of middle-aged men.
Quality of Life and Health Service Utilization of the Migrant Workers in Korea

The aim of this study was to identify the utilization of health services and factors influencing the quality of life(QOL) of migrant workers. The participants were 135 migrant workers in Korea. Data was collected from September 10th 2012 to November 15th 2012. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheff' test, and hierarchical multiple regression. Immigrant workers experienced difficulty in using health services and had a
QOL, which was relatively low. The factors influencing QOL were the length of stay in Korea, residence areas, and satisfaction with health services. Final regression model accounted for 16.7% of the variance in QOL. The satisfaction level with health services was the most influential factors in the level of the QOL. Therefore, diverse strategies should be developed to enhance the satisfaction with health services in Korea migrant workers.
A study on image distortion improvement using silicon device in thyroid diffusion MRI images

This study was conducted to minimize the imaging distortion by reducing the differences in susceptibility between the tissue and air surrounding it while performing a thyroid diffusion imaging procedure. The study group was composed of 23 healthy adults. Thyroids with many distortions near the air, larynx, and trachea were chosen to test and evaluate the diffusion imaging difference between before and after an application of silicon. As a result, there was reduced distortion with silicon application, and the differences decreased from 30% to 10%. According to One-way ANOVA and Duncan's post-hoc test, there were no significant differences between imaging with a silicon application and T2 imaging of the surface area, which was the standard image. In conclusion, this study presented a radical improvement in reducing the distortions in imaging by compensating for an uneven tissue surface near air without affecting the magnetic resonance contrast and complicating the imaging processes.
The Effect of Sex Education about Old People for Care givers

The aim of this study was to examined the effect of knowledge and attitudes about old people in care givers. This study was a quasi experimental designs of a nonequivalent control group comprised of a pre & post-test. The data was collected from a total of 54 (26 in the experimental group, 28 in the comparison group) subjects, who consented to the purpose and participation among care givers in the care facilities for old people throughout S-si. The data was analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 19.0 program with a Chi-square test, t-test, and ANOVA. The education program belonging to the experimental group showed a significantly increase in knowledge, and it took effect on making change into positive attitude of old people's sex. Given results of this study, it is suggested that a sex education program be provided as a training material for care givers to develop knowledge and to change the positive attitude about old people's sex in care facilities.
The Effect of Sling Exercise on Muscular Strength and Range of Motion in Female Patients who Received Total Knee Replacement

The purpose of study was to compare the effectiveness of sling exercise on the muscle strength and range of motion in female patients who received a total knee replacement. The participants were allocated randomly into 2 groups: sling exercise group (n=15) and control group (n=15). The subjects were evaluated using the Biodex system for the muscle strength test and a goniometer for the range of motion test. The data was analyzed using a paired t-test and independent t-test to determine the statistical significance. As a result, the sling exercise group before and after intervention showed a statistical significance difference in the flexion angle, quadriceps femoris, and hamstring muscle strength. The control group before and after the intervention revealed a statistically significant increase in the flexion & extension angle, quadriceps femoris, and hamstring muscle strength. Muscle strength test and flexion range of motion test in the sling exercise group showed statistical significance differences compared to the control group (p<.05). Therefore, the sling exercise group has a positive influence on the muscle strength and ROM in patients with a total knee replacement.
Relationship Between Job Satisfaction and Turnover Intention Among Nurses in General Hospitals

This study was carried out to verify the relationship between the job satisfaction and turnover intention of nurses working in general hospitals The study included 312 nurses working in three general hospitals located in Gyeoungpook area. The data was collected by a survey using self-administered questionnaires structured from February 25 to March 16, 2013. The level of turnover intention was negatively correlated with job satisfaction and professional position, autonomy, administrative capacity, pay, task requirement. In logistic regression analysis, the adjusted odds ratio of the high risk turnover intention was increased significantly in the lower groups of job satisfaction, job autonomy, administrative capacity and pay than in the higher groups of these items. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis showed that the turnover intention correlated significantly with the education level, subjective sleep evaluation, job career, job position, monthly pay, satisfaction with work, fitness of the job, career choice motives, physical burden of work, and job satisfaction. In addition, there was a negative correlation between the job satisfaction and turnover intention in the studied nurses, which showed that the turnover intention increased with decreasing level of job satisfaction. The variations in the job related characteristics and job satisfaction have a significant influence on the turnover intention.
Role of Shinorine derived from Microalgae in skin protection

In the present study, mycosporine-like amino acids (MAAs)were extracted from in Chlamydomonas hedleyi, and their function was investigated regarding to protective capacity against UV radiation and a possibility to be developed into functional suncream including MAAs by using natural compounds. In particulr, we assessed UV protective ability and anti-inflammation of shinorine in human skin cells. As a result, shinorine can protect the skin against damage by the absorption of energy from UV radiation and functions as an anti-wrinkling substrate through a increase of collagen synthesis. These data suggest that shinorine can be utilized not only as a substrate to protect UV radiation, but anti-aging material in cosmetic products.

2013. The data was analyzed using a t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression. The significant positive correlation with a critical thinking disposition and professional self-concept. Significant factors influencing the consciousness of biomedical ethics were the critical thinking disposition, experience of biomedical ethic education, academic grade, professional self-concept, and family members' involvement in medical related areas. Considering this result, the development of educational programs of biomedical ethics for nursing students should reflect affecting factors identified.

The aim of this study was to provide basic programs for addressing the growing problem of adolescent obesity by considering the effects of a music rope skipping-based exercise program to increase the student athletic ability on obesity, adiponectin and abdominal fat. The subjects were 23 male middle school students, 14-year-old to 16 years old, with a BMI of more than
(experimental group 11, control group 12), who lack basic physical fitness physical health related fitness. The subjects received a 12 weeks music rope skipping exercise program. The program was carried out before and after the 12 weeks group music rope skipping exercise program. The adiponectin and abdominal fat measurements were compared with the degree of improvement. The BMI and adiponectin levels decreased significantly after the program. In addition, the visceral fat, subcutaneous adipose fat and total abdominal fat in summer decreased significantly.

This study was conducted to extend the understanding and knowledge by examining the effect of climacteric symptoms and the cognitive function on QoL(Quality of life) of middle aged women. This study was conducted from March 2nd to March 10th, 2014. The data was collected by self-report questionnaires from 204 middle aged women. There was a significantly positive correlation between the climacteric symptoms and cognitive function. A significantly negative correlation was observed between the climacteric symptoms and QoL. The climacteric symptoms were a direct predictor and an indirect predicator of QoL mediated by the cognitive function. The study suggests that nursing intervention is needed to manage the climacteric symptoms and cognitive function for improving the QoL of middle aged women.
The Relation between Dental Technician's Social Support and Individual Competency

This study analyzed the dental technician's social support and individual competency as well as its correlation. 200 dental technicians in Seoul, Incheon, and Chunchungnamdo area were selected. The survey was carried out from April 28, 2012 to May 25, 2012 using a self-administered questionnaire. Regarding the tools for this study, a structured questionnaire was used with proven reliability and feasibility, and the contents of the questionnaire consisted of 55 questions based on the related references. The subjects completed the questionnaire regarding the general characteristics, social support, and individual competency. Data analysis was processed using computerized system with SPSS 18.0. Statistical analysis techniques including frequency, percentage, T-test, ANOVA analysis and correlation. An analysis of the research subjects' social support level revealed a significant difference in the item of marital status and residence area (p<0.05). The average in the social support was indicated to be high with 3.33. An analysis of the research subjects' individual competency revealed a significant difference in the items of age, marital status, residence area, carrier, job position, education (p<0.05). The average in the individual competency was indicated to be high with 3.68. The correlation between social support and individual competency showed that most of the variables had an association, showing that more social support leads to more individual competency.
Fabrication and analysis of flexible and transparent antenna on polyamide substrate for laptop computer

This paper presents an antenna design that can be applied to flexible transparent conducting film. The antennas shaping PIFA (Planar Inverted F-shpae Antenna) were produced on polyamide substrates, which are flexible. The IZTO/Ag/IZTO multilayer films were used for the antennas and exhibited superior electrical, optical and flexible characteristics. This study compared the transparency and performance of two antennas (IZTO/Ag/IZTO multilayer film, and Ag monolayer film). The operation frequencies were set to 5.18~5.32 GHz of WLAN (802.11a). The performance showed a maximum efficiency and peak gain of 89 % and 5.86 dBi, respectively.
Development of Solar Concentrator Cooling System

To increase the efficiency of a solar module, the development of solar concentrator using a lens or reflection plate is being proceeded actively and the concentrator pursues the a concentration using a lens or an optical device of a concentration rate and designing as a solar tracking system. On the other hand, as the energy density being dissipated as a heat according to the concentration rate increases, the cares should be taken to cool the solar concentrator to prevent the lowering of efficiency of solar cell by the increasing temperature of the solar cell. This study, researched and developed an economical concentrator module system using a low priced reflection optical device. A concentrator was used as a general module to increase the generation efficiency of the solar module and heat generated was emitted by the concentration through the cooling system. To increase the efficiency of the solar concentrator, the cooling system was designed and manufactured. The features of the micro cooling system (MCS) are a natural circulation method by the capillary force, which does not require external power. By using the potential heat in the case of changing the fluid, it is available to realize high performance cooling. The 117W solar modules installed on the reflective plate and the cooling device in the cooling module and the module unit was not compared. The cooling device was installed in the module resulted in a 28% increase in power output.
Analysis on Driving Performance of Linear Induction Motor for Maglev System by Finite Element Method

This paper proposes a novel analysis method on the driving performance of LIM (linear induction motor) by FEM (finite element method). First, a linear model was converted with a rotation model to perform the dynamic analysis for a long time. Through the FEM model, the slip parameter for the control algorithm could be induced effectively. The LIM for the traction system was performed at a constant V/f in the region of constant torque, and a constant V and variable f in the region of constant power. Several slip characteristic curves according to the voltage and frequency were calculated by FEM in advance. The driving performance was then induced by interpolating the slip characteristic curves according to the load of the vehicle.
Weighted Histogram Equalization Method adopting Weber-Fechner's Law for Image Enhancement

A histogram equalization method have been used traditionally for the image enhancement of low quality images. This uses the transformation function, which is a cumulative density function of an input image, and it has mathematically maximum entropy. This method, however, may yield whitening artifacts. This paper proposes the weighted histogram equalization method based on histogram equalization. It has Weber-Fechner's law for a human's vision characteristics, and a dynamic range modification to solve the problem of some methods, which yield a transformation function, regardless of the input image. Finally, the proposed transformation function was calculated using the weighted average of Weber-Fechner and the histogram equalization transformation functions in a modified dynamic range. The simulation results showed that the proposed algorithm effectively enhances the contrast in terms of the subjective quality. In addition, the proposed method has similar or higher entropy than the other conventional approaches.

This paper proposes the creation scheme of a threat map for robot global path planning. The threat map was generated using neural network theory by analyzing the robot's armament state and the menace information of an enemy or obstacle. In addition, the performance of the suggested method was verified using the compared result of the damage amount and existing robot path data.

LED light driving device has problems in efficiency and heating at higher than 150W. In addition, there is inconvenience in replacing the lighting device to another when W is not the same as the previous one. In this paper, a multi-channel LED light driver, driver embedded driver circuit in a multi-channel structure with a power system in the driver-interlocking structure was designed. With the auto control converter structure with a power efficiency above 93% and power factor above 0.98, the weight of the high efficiency LED lighting-actuating device in driver-interlocking structure, a driver in self-calibrating self-optimization structure. In this paper, at below 10% THD, the existing converter contrast weight was reduced by 40% or more.
Transient Stability Analysis of Wind Turbine Generator Connected to a Weak Grid

The margin of transient stability of a weak grid system is very low because of the small short-circuit ratio and large impedance. If the fault of the weak grid is cleared by the protection system, one of the major lines is disconnected after the fault is cleared. This further reduces the system strength. Therefore, it is necessary that a new generation system be added to the weak grid to enhance the transient stability margin. A conventional synchronous generator and wind turbine generator were added to a base grid system. The results of transient stability analysis with additional generators using PSSE were compared. The simulations showed that wind turbine generators provide good damping performance and enhance the transient stability margin based on CCT up to 5 times.

A Study on Adaptive Skin Extraction using a Gradient Map and Saturation Features

Real-time body detection has been researched actively. On the other hand, the detection rate of color distorted images is low because most existing detection methods use static skin color model. Therefore, this paper proposes a new method for detecting the skin color region using a gradient map and saturation features. The basic procedure of the proposed method sequentially consists of creating a gradient map, extracting a gradient feature of skin regions, noise removal using the saturation features of skin, creating a cluster for extraction regions, detecting skin regions using cluster information, and verifying the results. This method uses features other than the color to strengthen skin detection not affected by light, race, age, individual features, etc. The results of the detection rate showed that the proposed method is 10% or more higher than the traditional methods.
Tamper Detection of Digital Images using Hash Functions

Digital watermarking for digital image authentication and integrity schemes are based on fragile watermarking and can detect any modifications in a watermark embedded image by comparing the embedded watermark with the regenerated watermark. Therefore, the digital watermark for image authentication and integrity should be erased easily when the image is changed by digital image processing, such as scaling or filtering etc. This paper proposes an effective tamper detection scheme for digital images. In the proposed scheme, the original image was divided into many non-overlapping
blocks. The digital watermark was divided into two LSB of each block and the image distortion was imperceptible to the human eye. The watermark extraction process can be used to determine if the watermarked image has been tampered. The experimental results successfully revealed the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Distributed evacuation guide system based on positioning information of passengers in the subway station

In this paper, a distributed evacuation system based on the positioning information of subway passengers is proposed. Recently, the subway station is becoming complicated by combining with shopping malls, and movie theaters. Compared to the increasing complexity of subway stations, evacuation systems are less complex. Subway passengers in each cell were estimated to use the access point in the subway cells and statistics information. The evacuation route is provided through a direction indicator and push alarm of a smart phone based on estimated the number of passengers and exit information of the subway station. Based on this schemes, a quick and safe evacuation system of subway passengers was proposed. The number of connection passengers was estimated using AP with OpenWrt embedded OS installed. The average error rate of the number of passenger was confirmed to be 15%, 17% and 23% at the confidence parameter of
, respectively, through a simulation. The possibility of the system through a simple experiment was examined.
A Tool to Support Efficient Development of Node Software for Various Operating System Platforms in Sensor Network Environment

This paper proposes a development tool to efficiently develop node software for various operating system platforms in a sensor network. The proposed tool consisted of several modules, such as writing graphical model diagram, PIM and PSM design, code generation, and deployment file generation. Through the proposed tool, the users can graphically draw a sensor network model and design the PIM and PSM of the node software by setting the values of the predefined attributes. The source code of the node software is generated automatically from the PSM using the code templates of the target platform. The deployment files for installing node software on each node are generated automatically. The proposed tool helps the users to develop node software easily for a range of target platforms, even though they do not have details of the low-level information for a sensor network.
Analysis of Job Scheduling and the Efficiency for Multi-core Mobile GPU

Mobile GPU has led to the rapid development of smart phone graphic technology. Most recent smart phones are equipped with high-performance multi-core GPU. How a multi-core mobile GPU can be utilized efficiently will be a critical issue for improving the smart phone performance. On the other hand, most current research has focused on a single-core mobile GPU; studies of multi-core mobile GPU are rare. In this paper, the job scheduling patterns and the efficiency of multi-core mobile GPU are analyzed. In the profiling result, despite the higher number of GPU cores, the total processing time required for certain graphics applications were increased. In addition, when GPU is processing for 3D games, a substantial amount of overhead is caused by communication between not only the CPU and GPU, but also within the GPUs. These results confirmed that more active research for multi-core mobile GPU should be performed to optimize the present mobile GPUs.

In recent years, several paradigms have been identified to simplify the design of fault-tolerant distributed applications in a conventional static system. Leader Election is among the most noticeable, particularly because it is closely related to group communication, which provides a powerful basis for implementing active replications among other uses. On the other hand, despite its usefulness, to our knowledge, no study has focused on this problem in a mobile computing environment. The aim of this paper was to propose an algorithm for the leader election protocol in a fixed station based wireless networks environment. The election algorithm is much more efficient than other election algorithms in terms of the fault tolerance.

This paper proposes a technique for modifying the change cycle of location-based services according to the specific location using location based services. This technique shows that the cycle of the location-based services can be customized based on the location. As a result, this technique proposes a process that can reduce the waste of resources compared to the location based services of a constant cycle.
A Study on PBL Instructional Design for Creative Engineering Design Education

In the 21st century, university education is changing from an objective knowledge and information to critical thinking and problem-solving ability. Moreover, university education should change rapidly towards a learner-centered educational environment because it has an educational goal to have college students experience authentic tasks they will be in charge of after graduation, and improves self-directed learning ability and cooperative learning ability. PBL is a pedagogical strategy for posing significant, contextualized, real world situations, and providing resources, guidance, and instruction to learners as they develop content knowledge and problem-solving skills. In problem based learning, the students collaborate to study the issues of a problem as they strive to create viable solution. For these advantages of PBL, the application of PBL in school has been enlarged. On the other hand, the application of PBL in engineering education has not been enlarged. To improve these instruction methods, the development or applications of new instructional methods will be needed. This study examined the PBL instructional design of a creative engineering design subject, which aims to foster talent. The PBL model developed in this study consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. A plan of creative engineering design subject was developed based on PBL, and focused on the process of PBL. To determine the effects of this model, studies applying this instructional design to many lecturers should be implemented.
Improving Methods for Estimating Transportation Mode Choice Model in Busan-Ulsan Metropolitan Area

This study provides an improved transportation mode choice models applicable to the Busan-Ulsan Metropolitan area by scrutinizing previous study results developed using the multinomial logit model. Although the previous model has an appropriate modeling structure in terms of the sign of coefficient estimates and goodness-of-fit, the model ignores the total number of trips and traffic congestion condition between the two zones and partially reflects zone-specific variables and choice set. Therefore, this study considered all of these modeling faults by re-constructing the representative utility functions. The modeling results show that travelers in Busan-Ulsan metropolitan area tend to choose their mode using mode-specific characteristics rather than the classical travel time and/or cost variables.
Load Transfer Characteristics of Pile Foundation for Lightweight Pavement in Sand Soil using Laboratory Chamber Test

In this study, small scaled (1/30) laboratory chamber tests of the pile foundation for a lightweight concrete pavement system were carried out to evaluate the safety of a pile foundation on sandy soil. The testing ground was simulated in the field and a standard pile-loading test was conducted. The test piles were divided into 3 types, Cases A, B and C, which is the location from the center of the slab by applying a vertical load. The interval between the piles was set to 8 cm. As a result of the pile foundation model test, the pavement settled when the vertical load was increased to 12kg from 1.5kg in sandy soil ground, particularly the maximum settlement of 0.04mm. Judging from the model chamber test, Case A showed compressive deformation, whereas Case B represented the compression and tensile forces with increasing vertical load. Case C showed an increase in tensile strain.
Construction of Precise Local Geoid using GPS/Leveling

A geoid has great meaning as a vertical reference plane, and at this point when GPS measurement is vitalized, it is an important factor that makes level measurements with GPS possible. This study carried out GPS and leveling of newly created complex control points targeting Daejeon. The geoid for the precise area was built by calculating the plane location, elevation and the geoid of each reference point using GPS/Leveling. In addition, this study evaluated the potential of GPS leveling throughout the site calibration. The geoid for the precise area intervals of approximately 1.5km throughout the study was determined. The results highlight the possibility of leveling by estimating direct leveling performance and mean altitude deviation by less than 2cm. Based on the results, if a geoid model for the precise and wide area can be developed throughout ongoing research, survey tasks that require elevation can be streamlined and the efficiency maximized.

Photography has been a way of recording a range of images throughout the previous 160 years since its birth in 1839. It has also included the observations and records on the subjects, which is almost same as reality in its outward appearance, various looks of a city and architecture in the daily lives at these places. These pictures provide archaeological and geographical information beyond time and space as well as expressing cultural and artistic images using the creative senses. This thesis analyzes the images of a city and architecture as various angles along with development process of the photograph. The purpose is to examine what viewpoints, methods and concepts have been used to observe the city and architecture. The study will show that photography is a means of artistic expression and a means of indirect understanding of a city and its architecture by early modern photography of the 19th Century.
Approximate Method to Estimate Member Forces in the Column of a Rigid Frame

This paper proposes an approximate method to estimate member forces of columns in a rigid frame. One of the conventional methods, Cantilever Method assumes the midpoint of a column as a hinge and linear distribution of axial stresses regarding the centroid of the column areas. As a result, it shows erroneous results compared to those of matrix analysis of two frames. In this study, a new method is proposed to estimate the member forces in columns and location of hinges in columns, which can be adopted easily by a practicing engineer, and numerical examples showed improved results compared to conventional methods.

The aim of this study was to develop a R-PLM (Railway BIM-based Product Lifecycle Management) technology. The railway engineering productivity can be maximized if the railway product is created using the object modeling method and the railway lifecycle process is managed effectively. Recently, technology known as BIM and PLM was applied to the construction industry to improve the productivity. To define the R-PLM functions, the expert interview and a practitioner interview were conducted to identify the expected outcome and obstacles to R-PLM technology. As a result, the differences between the occupation and the priority of those were derived. Finally, R-PLM technology development consideration was suggested based on the interview results.

The research is being conducted on a SFT (Submerged Floating Tunnel), because of increased exchange among nations and abnormal weather-disasters and new transportation infrastructure has attracted interest. However, studies in this are almost in the early stages around the world and various researches will be needed to promote the safety form the disaster. In this paper, heat transfer analysis was applied among the structural performance evaluation of a SFT if afire occurs in the tunnel. The analysis model of the SFT was performed as steel composite RC hollow. The impact of heat by fire under a range of fire scenarios was analyzed and prevention techniques were examined.
Effects of LED Safety Induction Block on Crosswalk Accident

The objective of this study was to analyze the effects of LED safety block using the government database. To evaluate these effects, the night accident data was obtained from 2007 to 2011 from the database. At the LED-installed area, compared to the uninstalled area, the number of night traffic accidents, injured and mortality had decreased by 26.2%, 21.2% and 38.3%, respectively. The LED-installed intersections are safer than the LED-uninstalled roads from a traffic accidents perspective. In conclusion, a LED safety block is quite effective in decreasing the number of traffic accidents. Although this study was conducted using the data from Changwon city, where LED safety blocks have been installed so far, these results can provide valuable data to other cities considering the implementation of these LED safety blocks.
Effects of cement type and sand to cement ratio on the properties of PSC grout

This study examined the effects of the cement type and sand to cement ratio on the properties of grout for offshore PSC structures. Types I and III cement were used and the sand to cement ratio was varied from 0.5 to 1.5. When type I cement was used, considerable bleeding occurred on the all S/C after 3 hours and 20 hours. When type III cement was used, bleeding was reduced but the flowability decreased. A comparison of a superplasticizer containing naphthalene with that containing polycarboxylate showed that the problem of flowability could be solved using polycarboxylate.

A study of the improvement in the impact strength is required to apply Nylon 66/silicate composites as an automobile material. Nylon 66/silicate composites were prepared using a twin screw extruder in case of a silicate treatment by
-APS (S-silicate) and the addition of an octene
olefin grafted by maleic anhydride (PE-g-MAH). The chemical structure of the silane treated silicate was measured by Fourier transform infra-red (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The chemical reaction was confirmed by the decrease in the FT-IR intensity of the OH stretching vibration. The thermal properties, intercalation structure, and Izod impact strength were measured by DSC, TGA, XRD, and Izod impact tester. There was no significant effect on the degradation temperature of the Nylon66/silicate composite, but the crystallization temperature and crystallinity increased slightly in the case of the Nylon66/silicate composites. This suggests that the additives act as heterogeneous nuclei on the Nylon 66 matrix. The Izod impact test indicated that S-silicate enhanced the impact performance by up to 24%.
Active Noise Control of Blower Fan Noise at the Small-medium Size Factories

The noise produced in a factory is a cause of the noise complaint of the surrounding residential areas. In addition, it affects the work efficiency and health of workers. This paper presents the results of a basic study to reduce the noise generated from the blower, which is often used in the factory of a small and medium scale, using an active noise controller (ANC) in three-dimensional space. For this purpose, the simulator program, which can compare various parameters of the original noise and controlled noise, such as sound pressure levels, power spectra, and equivalent noise levels, was developed. The noise data was recorded at 17 points around a turbo fan blower currently being operated in a small-medium size factory. The simulation results showed that the power spectrum was reduced by a maximum of 40dB in the low frequency band and the average equivalent noise level attenuation was 12.6dB.
Application of electro-coagulation for the pretreatment of membrane separation of anaerobic digestion effluents

The aim of this study was to confirm the feasibility of the electro-coagulation process as a pre-treatment for the membrane separation of anaerobic digestion effluents to minimize membrane fouling. The reduction of membrane fouling was evaluated according to the number of electrodes (immersed surface area of electrodes), current density and contact time. In the case of the small surface area of electrodes, the increased electric field strength resulted in a soluble COD increase due to the destruction of the microbial flocs and/or cells, whereas large changes in the soluble COD were not observed in the case of the high surface area of electrodes. On the other hand, the T-P concentration decreased as a result of the precipitation of aluminum ions and phosphates. The membrane permeation flux increased and the fouling resistance (Rc+Rf) decreased with increasing electric current density. Although the particle size of the anaerobic digestion effluent increased slightly, it was not related directly to the reduced fouling phenomena. The main mechanism for the enhanced flux was attributed to the inorganic particulate produced during electrocoagulation, such as
, which acted as a dynamic membrane deposited on the membrane surface.

This study examined the
removal characteristics, such as breakthrough time, adsorption capacity, and adsorption rate of adsorbents between Zeolite 3A and DETOX in terms of the
inflow concentration and adsorption temperature. The adsorption capacity of Zeolite 3A increased with increasing mass flow rate of hydrogen sulfide(
) inflow, but the breakthrough time decreased. On the other hand, both the adsorption capacity and breakthrough time of DETOX decreased with increasing mass flow rate of
inflow. The adsorption capacity and breakthrough time of Zeolite 3A decreased with increasing adsorption temperature but those of DETOX increased. The adsorption capacity of DETOX was higher than that of Zeolite 3A by a factor of 2.5 - 16.4 because the collision frequency that overcomes the activation energy barrier increased with increasing adsorption temperature. Banhabaekchulchhonma-tang is a traditional Korean herbal prescription with a range of pharmacological activities. In this study, the simultaneous analysis of 12 kinds of marker components, Homogentisic acid, Hesperidin, Naringin, Alisol A, Atractylenolide II, Atractylenolide III, Ginsenoside Rg1, Formononetin, Gastrodin, Berberine, Palmatine and 6-gingerol, in Banhabaekchulchhonma-tang was performed using high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). The standard sample of commercial
reversed phase-column using water (0.1% TFA) and acetonitrile as the mobile phase with a step gradient elution mode. The flow rate (1.0mL/min), injection volume (

) at a 200, 220, 280 and 340nm wavelength was conducted. All calibration curves of the standard components showed good linearity (

Analysis of Micro-grid Operations Including PV Source and Li Battery

A micro-grid including photovoltaic source and Li battery has been installed and operated for several years at the campus of USF and been used as a test bed. Photovoltaic power source has been strongly influenced by the location, weather and climate of the installed area. To compensate for the uncertainty of photovoltaic source's power output, a Li battery is connected directly to the photovoltaic source and supplies electric power to the grid. The Li battery is operated to supply power output to the grid according to the charging or discharging mode of the battery based on the average power output of the photovoltaic source, which is calculated from the monitored data for several years. The grid of the photovoltaic and Li battery system is operated as a severe loading condition and the operating characteristics of PV source and Li battery cells are analyzed in detail.
A Study on Carbon Dioxide Removal Process Using Composite Membrane in DME Production Process

In this study, the simulation was performed for the CO removal process using a composite membrane in DME production. The composite membrane, PEI-PDMS (polyetherimide- polydimethyl siloxane) manufactured by Airrane Co. Ltd., was used in the modeling through a commercial simulation design program, PRO/II with PROVISION 9.2 by Invensys. To simulate the process, the permeability constants of each of the pure component from Airrane Co. Ltd. were determined by regression analysis from the experimental data. The required separation membrane area and utility cost in the CO removal process were obtained using a chemical process simulator and composite membrane with a compatible permeability constant.
