A Study on the Meaning as Regional Facilities of 'Whole life Department Store' Appeared in newspaper from 1987 to 1998
Park, Yeon-jeong ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 16, issue 12, 2015, Pages 8107~8115
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2015.16.12.8107
The purpose of this study is to clarify the architectural meaning of the term 'Whole life Department Store' that appeared in newspapers' in the 1980s. A term of 'Whole Life Department Store' is appeared to explain the emergence of department stores, including the space for a wide range of programs and services they need to live, as well as sales. This word, "Whole life", is a compound of the Whole(全) and Life(生活) and word means the entire life. This will assume that you are separated life. So I was thinking that it could be described as regional facilities that classify and distinguish the necessary space for living and building maintenance, etc. in city and architecture since the modern. And Based on this, I would understand the whole life department as regional facilities. Generally a department store is a regional facilities for higher level living area. I analyzed the location and program of department stores at the time of the emergence of the term. Through this analysis department store was located in the daily range around the apartment complex and contained spaces for the daily life of the inhabitants apartment complex. It is significant in this particular department to be valid today and the term of 'Whole Life' department store is not longer used.

This study provides results from the experiment on the rainfall distribution using a large Experimental rainfall simulator with fixed nozzle arrangement. Results from the experiment on the nozzles which are crucial for rainfall simulation show standard errors expressed as percentage are 0.15~0.38% at the indoor flow testing apparatus and 0.37~0.59% at the KICT-ERS. To examine spraying range of the nozzles, radial and triangular rainfall measurement test are done. In the radial test, coefficient of uniformity (CU) lies in 0.348~0.657 in the single nozzle spraying case, while it increases up to 0.854~0.895 in the seven nozzle spraying case. This means increase of both rain rate and uniformity by means of superimposition of spraying. The CU of the triangular test falls to 0.845~0.896. The results from the experiment on the whole-scale of the KICT-ERS show that CU exceeds 0.7 for every case except the one experimental condition where a
nozzle is used. The CU tends to increase with increasing rainfall intensity. Comparison with the previous studies shows that KICT-ERS provides rainfall distribution above average CU.

Recently, the necessity of developing the load and resistance factor design(LRFD) for soft ground improvement method has been raised, since the limit state design is requested as international technical standard for the foundation of structures. In this study, to develop LRFD codes for foundation structures in Korea, target reliability index and resistance factor for static bearing capacity of driven steel pipe piles were calibrated in the framework of reliability theory. The 16 data(in Gwangyang) and the 57 data(Korea Institute of Construction Technology, 2008) sets of static load test and soil property tests conducted in the whole domestic area were collected along with available subsurface investigation results. The resistance bias factors were evaluated for the tow static design methods by comparing the representative measured bearing capacities with the expected design values. Reliability analysis was performed by two types of advanced methods : the First Order Reliability Method (FORM), and the Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) method using resistance bias factor statistics. As a result, when target reliability indices of the driven pipe pile were selected as 2.0, 2.33, 2.5, resistance factor of two design methods for SPT N at pile tip less than 50 were evaluated as 0.611~0.684, 0.537~0.821 respectively, and STP N at pile tip more than 50 were evaluated as 0.545~0.608, 0.643~0.749 respectively. The result from this research will be useful for developing various foundations and soil structures under LRFD.

Kim, Nae-Hyun ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 16, issue 12, 2015, Pages 8165~8175
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2015.16.12.8165
In Korea, summer is hot and humid, and air-conditioners consume lots of electricity. In such case, simultaneous usage of indirect evaporative cooler may reduce the sensible heat and save the electricity. In this study, heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of indirect evaporative cooler made of aluminum, plastic, plastic/paper are investigated both under dry or wet condition. Results show that indirect evaporation efficiencies of the plastic/paper sample (38.5% ~ 51.4%) are approximately the same as those of the aluminum sample (41.9% ~ 47.5%), and are larger than those of the plastic sample (29.0% ~ 37.4%). This suggests that the plastic/paper sample could be a good substitute to the aluminum sample. However, the pressure drops across the paper channel are 92% ~ 106% larger than those across the aluminum channel. The heat transfer coefficients of the paper channel under dry condition are 15% ~ 44% larger than those of the plastic channel. The increases are 185% ~ 203% for the aluminum channel. The pressure drops of the paper channel are 34% ~ 48% larger than those of the plastic channel and 93% ~ 106% larger than those of the aluminum channel. Rigorous heat transfer analysis reveals that, for the plastic sample, 30% ~ 37% of the wet channels remain dry, whereas all the channels are wet for plastic/paper sample. For aluminum sample, the ratio is 17% ~ 23%.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 16, issue 12, 2015, Pages 8187~8194
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2015.16.12.8187
To accelerate a heavy roller coaster train with over 1G force, a lot of thrust is required and linear synchronous motor(LSM) as propulsion method is suitable for this kind of system. To increase the propulsion efficiency of LSM, precise and real-time position information of vehicle is required for accurate phase control. However, the discontinuous position information with relatively long time interval is usually transmitted from the hall-sensors on the track every magnet length. In this paper, the basic motor model based on traditional dq-axis equations is described and the motor dynamic model is produced by considering the cogging force and friction loss. To improve the position accuracy, the position estimator is also proposed for LSM control system. Simulations were performed to check the characteristics of the torque control system which includes the position estimator based on the motor model. Simulation results based on the linearized model show that this control system has an enough bandwidth and phase margin and the executed algorithm achieves an ideal effect to follow the real-time position signal. Therefore, the feasibility of position estimator is also confirmed.

Kim, Tae-Hyun ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 16, issue 12, 2015, Pages 8222~8227
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2015.16.12.8222
The visibility range is defined from where one can see, which can be changed by the character sizes and illuminances and so on, which of one-hundred and twelve students are measured for three illuminances and three character sizes in this paper. In determining the character sizes and illuminances, the visibility range can be an important data. Functions are proposed whose independent variable is illuminance and whose dependent variable is visibility range in order to predict the visibility range of unmeasured illuminances. The fractional functions are used for three character sizes because the visibility range is invariant according to illuminance. There are three parameters to be determined - k, m, n, which are selected based on the measured visibility ranges. Because the visibility ranges of three character sizes are measured, three k's can be calculated. In this paper the case of minimum variance of three k's is selected, and three parameters - k,m,n- of that case is selected. The three functions according to three character sizes are proposed. The small differences between the measured data and the postulated functions verifies the accuracy of the functions.

Sources of innovation and a sustainable competitive advantage for market leading firms in a dynamic environment are major concerns for both firm managers and academic researchers. For this reason, the dynamic capability view (DCV), evolved from the resource-based view (RBV) is gaining popularity as a cornerstone for success of firms in a dynamic market. DCV proposes a number of new concepts and elements, but these are still under development. This study suggests a comprehensive constitution of dynamic capabilities by performing a systematic literature review of 59 conceptual research papers from 238 bodies of literature. For the integrative conceptual framework, the elements of the dynamic capabilities are segmented into organizational learning and strategic choices with sensing, seizing, and reconfiguring stages. In addition, our conceptual framework lays a foundation for further empirical studies, with investigating sources of competitive advantage of market leading firms.

It has been recognized that in keeping the national defense capability on a leading edge, not only the continued production of weapon systems but also the associated maintenance and upgrades are becoming the subjects of great importance. Based on systems engineering process, the domestic acquisition programs for weapons systems led by DAPA have made some advancement where both new systems development and systems upgrade have attracted attention. On the other hand, as a useful type of domestic acquisition the foreign purchase program has been conceived as a process of simply buying needed weapons from abroad. Therefore, if some degree of development is necessary in system upgrades by foreign purchase, many problems turned out to exist. To study a remedy is the objective of this paper. The issues are analyzed first and then a relevant process is proposed based on a systems engineering method. Also included in the improved process is on how to generate a requirement document and the corresponding template to meet the goals of the upgrades by development. By applying the proposed process and template in the foreign purchase upgrade programs, derivation of more appropriate requirements can be expected, thereby offering effective management of programs and target goals.

The emergency call device has been installed and operated for the elevator passenger safety, but the call can not be connected or delay to the operator in an emergency. The application of the Internet of Things(IoT) technology is required for the systematic management and reliability of the emergency call device installed in the elevator. To meet these requirements it is necessary to apply the RMS(Remote Management System). Emergency call device periodically reports the operating status information and the emergency call history information of the emergency call device to the RMS in the PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network) environment, and transmits the call request information in an emergency. RAS(Remote Access Server) plays a role of converting the PSTN signals to TCP / IP. RMS reports a significant outbreak call and abnormal operating conditions to administrators. In this study, we developed optimized protocol to PSTN environment that is required by RMS and implemented its differentiated process. And a RAS-RMS Protocol was added to the Application Layer. Development protocol consisting of simple structure as compared to CoAP, MQTT or HTTP can work properly in low-spec CPU and transmit elevator emergency key information easily.

DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2015.16.12.8370
In spatial data stream management systems, it is needed appropriate load shedding algorithm because real-time input spatial data streams could exceed the limitation of main memory. However previous researches, lack regard for input ratio and spatial utilization rates of spatial data streams, or the characteristics of data source which generates data streams with spatial information efficiently, can lead to decrease the performance and accuracy of spatial data stream query. Therefore, multi-level load shedding scheme for spatial data stream management systems is proposed to increase the spatial query performance and accuracy. This proposed scheme limits overloads in relation to the input rate and the characteristics of data source first, and then, if needed, query data representing low query participation probability based on spatial utilizations are dropped relatively. Our experiments show that the proposed method could decrease load shedding frequency for previous researches by more than 11% despite query results accuracy and query performance are superior at 0.04% and 3%.

ISO 12215-5 standard describes allowable stress design specifications of monohull small boat with a length of hull between 2.5 m and 24 m constructed from fiber reinforced plastics, aluminium or steel alloys, glued wood or other suitable boat building material. If small boat hull is under 2.5m in overall length or nonstandard material is used as boat building material, structural reliability of small boat hull is assured by drop test specification, but not by structural design specification in accordance with ISO 12215-5. Drop test specification of boat hull can be applied to manufactured product. But it is difficult and complicated to apply drop test specification to structural design of boat hull. In this study, we present structural design method of polyethylene boat hull on the basis of longitudinal bending strength test specification.

In this paper, we propose new search algorithms using SVD(Singular Value Decomposition) for fast search of Raman spectrum. In the proposed algorithms, small number of the eigen vectors obtained by SVD are chosen in accordance with their respective significance to achieve computation reduction. By introducing pilot test, we exclude large number of data from search and then, we apply partial distance search(PDS) for further computation reduction. We prepared 14,032 kinds of chemical Raman spectrum as the library for comparisons. Experiments were carried out with 7 methods, that is Full Search, PDS, 1DMPS modified MPS for applying to 1-dimensional space data with PDS(1DMPS+PDS), 1DMPS with PDS by using descending sorted variance of data(1DMPS Sort with Variance+PDS), 250-dimensional components of the SVD with PDS(250SVD+PDS) and proposed algorithms, PSP and PSSP. For exact comparison of computations, we compared the number of multiplications and additions required for each method. According to the experiments, PSSP algorithm shows 64.8% computation reduction when compared with 250SVD+PDS while PSP shows 157% computation reduction.

DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2015.16.12.8462
It is widely known that consumer satisfaction, as well as consumer voice and loyalty, affect firms' performance. Prior studies on consumer satisfaction have focused on expectancy disconfirmation theory and its effects on satisfaction related to disconfirmation with consumer expectation and with perceived performance. This study classified consumer expectation into should-expectation and will-expectation, and investigated how disconfirmation with these expectations affects consumer satisfaction differently based on regulatory focus. Specifically, for promotion-focused consumers, disconfirmation of will-expectation has a more significant influence on consumer satisfaction than that of should-expectation. For prevention-focused consumers, disconfirmation of should-expectation has a more significant influence on consumer satisfaction. The results of this study provide academic insights that not only generic expectation (will-expectation) but also should-expectation play an important role in determining consumer satisfaction according to regulatory focus. In addition, it is expected that the findings can be used as a guide to manage consumer expectation in practice.

This study aim is occur in brain CT cause of beam hardening effect and reducing method, We will scan Bone opaque bead phantom on variation of image on the influence factor with equipment called 'Samatom Senation 16' with following listed herein : tube voltage, tube current, slice thickness, gantry angle, base line which affect beam-hardening effect. After that we are going to start Quantitative Analysis resulted in previous scanning and Qualitative Assessment with CT image sheet evaluation. result of quantitative analysis 140kVp
on tube voltage, 150mA
on tube current, 3mm on slice thickness, and
IOML on gantry angle which was the least beam-hardening effect. Like Qualitative Analysis, we went through Qualitative Assessment and most of valuers got a result of 140kVp on tube voltage, 150mA on tube current, 3mm on slice thickness. As before valuers evaluated gantry angle that scanned image from IOML or OML was the least beam-hardening effect occured. There are meaningful differences when we compare all theses factors statistically(P<0.05). therefore We consider that Minimizing artifact that caused by beam-hardening effect can provide better quality of image to deciphers and patients. if we rise tube voltage in permissible dose limit, set tube current in a limit that does not effect to image quality, use slice thickness too thin enough to harm resolution, use IOML or OML on gantry angle.

A number of video indexing and retrieval algorithms have been proposed to manage large video databases efficiently. The video similarity measure is one of most important technical factor for video content management system. In this paper, we propose the luminance characteristics model to measure the video similarity efficiently. Most algorithms for video indexing have been commonly used histograms, edges, or motion features, whereas in this paper, the proposed algorithm is employed an efficient similarity measure using the luminance projection. To index the video sequences effectively and to reduce the computational complexity, we calculate video similarity using the key frames extracted by the cumulative measure, and compare the set of key frames using the modified Hausdorff distance. Experimental results show that the proposed luminance projection model yields the remarkable improved accuracy and performance than the conventional algorithm such as the histogram comparison method, with the low computational complexity.

Beam-type structures with non-uniform cross sections are widely used in mechanical, architectural, and civil engineering fields. This paper deals with dynamic characteristics and vibration problems. Governing equations are first derived by using local coordinates. Their solutions are then assumed by using Galerkin's mode summation method. Bisection method is also applied in solving the determinant of the matrix which can provide natural frequencies. Whereas finite element methods adopt admissible functions satisfying only geometric boundary condition, in this study we apply Galerkin's mode summation method which uses eigen-functions satisfying both governing equations and boundary conditions. Modal analysis and experimental tests are finally performed using simply-supported beams with four different non-uniform cross-sections. Our analytical results then show good agreement with experimental ones.

In this study, to investigate the feasibility of malodorous substance and organic matter removal by digest sludge in sewage treatment plants, ammonia, methyl mercaptan(MMC), and hydrogen sulfide(
) in a reactor submerged with BIO-CLOD(BIO-CLOD) and a reactor not submerged with BIO-CLOD(Non BIO-CLOD) were measured at 24 hours, 48 hours, and 72 hours after the submergence of BIO-CLOD. Whereas the reactor in which BIO-CLOD was submerged showed an ammonia removal rate of 48% and high
and MMC removal rates exceeding 98% in 24 hours, the reactor in which BIO-CLOD was not submerged showed an ammonia removal rate of 45%, an
removal rate of 71%, and an MMC removal rate of 84% in 24 hours indicating the possibility of removal of malodor using BIO-CLOD. A nitrification was shown in which ammonia concentrations decreased over time while nitrate nitrogen concentrations increased and sulfur based malodor components were oxidation decomposed indicating that BIO-CLOD had effects to increase sulfate concentrations in the solution and that sulfate concentration increases and atmospheric
removal rates were correlated with each other. With regard to decreases in organic matter in reactor effluents, BIO-CLOD did not affect in a short period of time and when reactors were operated with HRT 12 hours and HRT 24 hours, HRT 12 hours was considered desirable in terms of economy.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 16, issue 12, 2015, Pages 8679~8683
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2015.16.12.8679
Using a surface modification technique, ion beam assisted deposition (IBAD) of Ti thin film it becomes possible to prepare an active ceramic surface to braze
-STS304 with conventional Ag-Cu eutectic composition filler metal. Researches on bonding formations at interfaces of ceramic joints were mainly related on the development of filler metals to ceramic, the process parameters, and clarifications of reaction products. From the results, the reactive brazing is a very convenient technique compared to the conventional Mn-Mo method. However melting point of reactive filler is still higher than that of Ag-Cu eutectic and it forms the brittle inter metallic compound. Recently several new approaches are introduced to overcome the main shortcomings of the reactive metal brazing in ceramic-metal, metal vapor vacuum arc ion source was introduced to implant the reactive element directly into the ceramics surface, and sputter deposition with sputter etching for the deposition of active material.

This study aimed to investigate the influence of the ankle dorsiflexion angle (
) on the effectiveness of gastrocnemius stretching angle. The subjects of this study were 25 young man and female women. In all participants, the pennation angle of the medial head of the gastrocnemius was evaluated using ultrasonography at an ankle dorsiflexion angle of
. Repeated measures analysis of variance was uesd to test for differences between ankle dorsiflexion angles. The independent t-test was performed to determine the significance of sex differences. The results of this study showed that the gastrocnemius pennation angle decreased as the ankle dorsiflexion angle increased, with significant interaction between each angle of ankle dorsiflexion angle (p<0.01). Sex comparison showed that the pennation angle was greater in man than in women, but the difference was not significant (p>0.05). According to the sex the gastrocnemius pennation angle is decreased as the ankle dorsiflexion angle increased (p<0.01). These results suggest that the end range of dorsiflexion is more beneficial for gastrocnemius stretching than a small range. Further studies are needed to investigate the influence of other factors, such as stretching angle and application time, on gastrocnemius stretching.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 16, issue 12, 2015, Pages 8700~8706
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2015.16.12.8700
The first driving device of the power bogies for the Korean high-speed railway vehicle consists of the traction motor (TM) and the motor reduction gears unit (MRU). Although TM and MRU are the mechanically integrated structures, their time between overhauls (TBO) have two separate intervals due to different technical requirements(i.e. TBO of MRU:
, TBO of TM:
). Therefore, to reduce the unnecessary number of preventive maintenances, it is important to evaluate the optimal TBO with a viewpoint of reliability-center maintenance towards cost-effective solution. In this study, derived from the field data in maintenance, fault tree analysis and failure rate of the subsystem considering criticality of the components are evaluated respectively. To minimize the conventional total maintenance cost, the same optimal TBO of the components is derived from genetic algorithm considering target reliability and improvement factor. In this algorithm, a chromosome which comprised of each individual is the minimum preventive maintenance interval. The fitness function of the individual in generation is acquired through the formulation using an inverse number of the total maintenance cost. Whereas the lowest common multiple method produces only a four percent reduction compared to what the existing method did, the optimal TBO of them using genetic algorithm is
km, which is reduced to about 14% comparing the conventional method.

Since many accidents have occurred in Korea in these days, many people have lost their health and have been damaged. The damages caused by fires which occur to many buildings where many people always reside takes a substantial share of the total damages. And since the proportions of the domestic fire protection designing/supervising industries are relatively much disregarded compared to other kinds of work, it is in the situation that there are many cases of serious damages because the fire protection equipment didn't exert the proper functions on fire after a building is constructed since the supervision against the poor construction along with the inadequate design. In order to improve such situations, in case of the design industry, the criteria on registration and workforce placement, the scope of operation, the design documents required when requesting the agreement to the construction permits, the responsibilities and authorities about the jobs of the fire protection facility designers must be improved and, in case of supervising industry, the registration criteria, the operation scope and the kinds, methods, targets and criteria of supervision, the criteria on the additional placement of assistant supervisors, the contents and scope of work must be improved, the PQ system and Public Supervision System must be reviewed and the systems for preventing any poor supervision must be improved in order to pursue the security of the people and their properties at the same level as the other kinds of work by preparing for the firm position and foundation of the fire protection design and supervision.

Establishment of analysis procedures and validated performance measurements for generator output is required to maintain stable management of generator output in turbine power generation cycle. We developed turbine expansion model and measurement validation model for the performance calculation of generator using turbine output based on ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) PTC (Performance Test Code). We also developed verification model for uncertain measurement data related to the turbine and generator output. Although the model in previous researches was developed using artificial neural network and kernel regression, the verification model in this paper was based on algorithms through Support Vector Machine (SVM) model to overcome the problems of unmeasured data. The selection procedures of related variables and data window for verification learning was also developed. The model reveals suitability in the estimation procss as the learning error was in the range of about 1%. The learning model can provide validated estimations for corrective performance analysis of turbine cycle output using the predictions of measurement data loss.

As a follow-up research of a qualitative study conducted by Lee(2015), this study needed to carry out a quantitative research targeting not a group of experts but of working-level staff and verify the validity of the assessment scales. As far as the study learned from an exploratory factor analysis of the preliminary research, these 12 questions that were incorrectly categorized or that presented outliers had to be removed and as a consequence, the researcher of the study was led to an outcome(75 Items) that would correspond to this factor structure which one had temporarily set up. For the next step, in order to carry out a confirmatory factor analysis, the study worked on verification on a four-stage structural equation model with each of the factors which the researcher had established applied by stage. In the end, a result to confirm how the model's goodness of fit eventually increases with the factors which the researcher had set up added was gained and lastly, another outcome to agree to the hair designers' expertise practice model which the researcher had created was obtained. In the meantime, in terms of the assessment scales which this study has discussed, the study assumes that since the scales accepted a self-rating method, it may lead not only to increase in expertise through self-reflection but also to establishment of a rational class system based on results of objective expertise measuring but not of subjective judgment by superiors.

DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2015.16.12.8830
As the smallest unit in the composition of any melody, motive forms the basis for melodic tunes and establishes a starting point for any creation. Among other melody composition methods, how to form a motive, change it, and refine it to develop a solo is important in playing solos, and in an impromptu jazz solo, analyzing how motive is changed and developed and using it can be a method or idea to approach a more melodic solo. This thesis consists of a thorough analysis of the kinds of developmental methods that were used to change and advance motives in three solos by Larry Grenadier, a musician who is active with creative ideas in many genres of contemporary jazz music. After such analysis, these motive development methods were applied to a rendition. Since judgment was used in the motive development methods mentioned in the introduction, elements in the methods that appeared to be motives but were impossible to analyze were excluded from the analysis, therefore making it one limitation of this study. There will be a need for future studies to overcome this limitation.

Unshielded posts on roadside are a critical hazard to the safety of impact vehicle to the posts. A crashworthy post is developed. In the first phase, it dissipates the impact energy by the linear momentum conservation principle while the plastic impact between the post and vehicle takes place, then, the second phase dissipation follows by the deformation of the energy absorbing modules embedded in the guide trough of the foundation. Simulations of impacts to a rigidly connected post and crashworthy post were made using LS-DYNA program, which demonstrated the danger of unshielded rigidly connected post and the effectiveness of the proposed crashworthy post to the 0.9ton-80km/h impact.
