Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 16, issue 7, 2015, Pages 4364~4374
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2015.16.7.4364
In this study, heat transfer and friction characteristics of compound enhanced fin-and-tube heat exchangers were experimentally investigated. Louver-finned heat exchangers were also tested for comparison purpose. The effect of fin pitch on j and f factor was negligible. The j factor decreased as number of tube row increased. However, f factor was independent of number of tube row. Louver fin samples yielded higher j and f factors than compound enhanced fin samples. For one row, j and f factors of louver fin were 23% and 27% higher than those of compound enhanced fin. For two row, those were 11% and 8%, and for three row, those were 10% and 9%. However, heat transfer capacities at the same pressure drop of the compound enhanced fins were 6.4% for one row, 11.1% for two row and 13.6% for three row larger than those of louver fins, Existing louver fin correlation overpredicted the present j factors and underpredicted the present f factors.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 16, issue 7, 2015, Pages 4375~4380
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2015.16.7.4375
This study was performed to evaluate a newly proposed heating process of blank, which was used for Crank throw in the diesel engine, and provide design guidelines of heating processes. Non-linear numerical analyses were done using ANSYS program to investigate temperature and thermal stress distributions of blank during heating processes. The heating process consists of two stages; one is a heating stage with 20 hours, and the other is a holding stage with 12 hours, totaling 32-hour heating time. Based on analysis results, it was found that the temperature difference between the center and the surface of blank increased linearly during the heating stage but decreased gradually during the holding stage of heating processes, while max. equivalent stress,
, was found at the center of blank after 10-hour heating time. As the guideline of blank heating process, it was recommended to keep the temperature difference between the center and the surface of blank to be within
when the environment temperature in furnace reaches
during a heating stage.

This thesis urges the change of the education system of popular music for globalization of K-POP in a longer point of view Korean popular music has developed not only musically but also sound quality itself. Moreover it became popular in a global scale in the name of K-POP. However, it is still limited to idol music, and numerous issues related to the lack of musical talent are emerging Even though the routine of birth and death of several idol groups and singers are still repeated. Recently, the skills of artists enhanced due to audition TV shows but still it's not enough. Under this situation, it is not appropriate to rely on audition TV shows and Entertainment Management companies for picking up talented artists. Therefore, like Classic or Traditional music, schools concentrated for popular music must be founded. If this become enabled, young students going to entertainment companies or to unqualified but expensive private institutes will disappear. Moreover, it can prevent students from lacking behind in their academic activity. In addition, a reformation should be done education colleges for raising popular music educators

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 16, issue 7, 2015, Pages 4651~4655
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2015.16.7.4651
The subclavian artery pseudoaneurysm in blunt trauma is uncommon and rarely occurs secondary to penetrating injury. Subclavian artery injuries represent an uncommon complication of blunt chest trauma, this structure being protected by subclavius muscle, the clavicle, the first rib, and the deep cervical fascia as well as the costo-coracoid ligament, a clavi-coraco-axillary fascia portion. Subclavian artery injury appears early after trauma, and arterial rupture may cause life-threatening hemorrhages, pseudoaneurysm formation and compression of brachial plexus. Most injuries were related to clavicle fracture, gunshot, other penetrating trauma, and complication of central line insertion. The presence of large hematomas and pulsatile palpable mass in supraclavicular region should raise the suspicion of serious vascular injury and these clinical evidences must be carefully worked out by physical examination of the upper limb. Since the first reports of endovascular treatment for traumatic vascular injuries in the 1993, an increasing number of vascular lesions have been treated this way. We report a case of subclavian artery pseudoaneurysm 10 days after blunt chest trauma due to traffic accident, treated by endovascular stent grafting.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 16, issue 7, 2015, Pages 4656~4667
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2015.16.7.4656
The purpose of this study was to investigate relations among the quality of life, health states, physical functions, cognitive functions, and social supports of the elderly at care facilities. The subjects include the elderly that were living in care facilities in some urban areas and aged 65 or older. The data of total 260 old people were used in analysis. Collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. The elderly at care facilities, who were considered as physically and cognitive vulnerable, scored higher means on quality of life when they were satisfied with the length of stay and sleeping state, had higher subjective health states, had no tooth inconvenience and forgetfulness, suffered from a lower level of depression, had better cognitive functions, and received higher social supports. Quality of life had correlations with the sleeping state(r=-.20, p<.001), subjective health state(r=-.24, p<.001)s, depression(r=-.30, p<.001), and social supports(r=.30, p<.001). Social supports(
, p<.001), depression(
, p<.001), subjective health states(
, p<.001), length of stay(
, p<.001), and sleeping state(
, p=.025) turned out to predict the quality of life of the elderly at care facilities and have close relations with it. In short, the quality of life of the elderly is related to many different factors at care facilities. The findings indicate that nursing interventions and managements for quality of life require a mental and social approach or a whole person approach with a focus on the understanding of individual senior citizens rather than on physical activities and diseases.

From the moment that a firing pin triggers the detonator to the moment that a grenade leaves a barrel is called Action Time. Since a loading and percussion of 40mm grenade happens simultaneously, action time should be within a certain time in order to prevent a Jamming malfunction. Previously, unreliable action time device of 40mm grenade made it difficult to improve quality assurance of K4 Grenade Machine Gun. Here, various sensors were compared and a special device was designed to seek an accurate measurement on action time. In this device, the gap between a signal from an optical sensor in Firing Pin and that from Eddy current probe in the barrel was recorded and data were sent to a computer in real time. Confirming if action time is within the criteria, it is expected that action time plays an important role in quality assurance on 40mm grenade.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 16, issue 7, 2015, Pages 4835~4841
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2015.16.7.4835
The effect of particle size and compaction pressure on the thermoelectric properties of n-type
was investigated. The starting powders with various particle size were pressed into a compact (compaction pressure;
). The compact specimens were sintered at 1473 K for 7 h and annealed at 1103 K for 100 h under Ar atmosphere to transform to the semiconducting
-phase. The microstructure and phases of the specimens were observed by SEM, XRD and EDS. The electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient were measured simultaneously for the same specimen at r.t.~1023 K in Ar atmosphere. The electrical conductivity increased with decreasing particle size and hence the increases of relative density of the sintered body and the amount of residual metallic phase
-FeSi due to a increase of the electrical conductivity. The Seebeck coefficient exhibited the maximum value at about 700~800 K and decreased with decreasing particle size. This must be due to a increase of residual metallic phase
-FeSi. On the other hand, the change of compaction pressure appeared to have little effect on the thermoelectric properties. Consequently, the power factor would be affected more by particle size than compaction pressure.

This paper presents a comparison of communication performance between the reconfigurable beam-steering antenna and the omni-directional (loop) antenna during standstill and walking motion. Both omni-directional and reconfigurable antennas were manufactured on the same fabric (
) substrate and operated around 5 GHz band. The reconfigurable antenna was designed to steer the beam directions. To implement the beam-steering capability, the antenna used two PIN diodes. The measured peak gains were 5.9-6.6 dBi and the overall half power beam width (HPBW) was
. In order to compare the communication efficiency, both the bit error rate (BER) and the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) were measured using a GNU Radio Companion software tool and user software radio peripheral (USRP) devices. The measurement were performed when both antennas were standstill and walking motion in an antenna chamber as well as in a smart home environment. From these results, the performances of the reconfigurable beam steering antenna outperformed that of the loop antenna. In addition, in terms of communication efficiencies, in an antenna chamber was better than in a smart home environment. In terms of movement of antennas, standstill state has better results than walking motion state.

It has been often occurred for the outside components(BU, SVaC, DB) of UM71c AF track circuits to be broken down caused by some pieces of falling ice in the winter time or by infrastructure repairing equipments while facility maintenance works since 2004, opening of Kyeongbu High Speed Rail Express. In this paper, we proposed that we could move the outside components of UM71c track circuit out of wayside from present place. Then we can assure that the life time of those components would be extended. So we simulated the electrical characteristics by changing cable length using MATLAB Simulinks and we designed the compensation capacitor. Also, we obtained the same results as those of simulation by field demonstration test on site. The design specifications obtained from this field verification test could be applied in the absent section of track circuit, if only have a little more intensified research to compensate changed electrical characteristics and to redesign inner impedance of the track circuit.

Currently, as a priority to secure the safety of the railway signalling system, verification for satisfy of the safety integrity requirements(SIR) is required to the essential elements. Safety Integrity Requirements(SIR) verification is performed based on the system safety analysis. But the probability of securing basic data for system safety analysis significantly dropped because there is no experience yet performed in the country. Therefore we are had to rely on a qualitative analysis. There are methods such as qualitative risk analysis matrix, and risk graphs. The qualitative analysis is wide, the width of the accident. However, the reliability of the result is significantly less has a disadvantage. Therefore, it should be parallel quantitative safety analysis of the system/products in order to compensate for the disadvantages of the qualitative analysis. This paper presents a quantitative safety analysis method to overcome the disadvantages of the qualitative analysis. And through a result, highly reliable Safety Integrity Requirements(SIR) verification measures proposed. Verification results, the dangerous failure incidence for vital data processing device was calculated to be
. The result was verified to exceed the required safety integrity targets more.

The IP Multimedia Subsystem(IMS) is a framework that provides access to the content of Internet and Telecom services anytime and anywhere with guaranteed Quality of Service(QoS) and manageability by separating control functions from bearer and services. The Service Delivery Platform(SDP) provides common interfaces and protocols to deploy existing or new services in an efficient way. Therefore SDP over IMS plays a role of bridge between established network and new IMS network by simplifying the interaction among application services. In order to enrich the multimedia network communication, we try to deploy the Push-to-talk over Cellular(PoC) service which is considered as the outstanding and distinguished half-duplex Voice over IP(VoIP) application service among deployable candidate services over mobile network. In this paper we investigate the advantages of PoC service and PoC architecture firstly, and then focus on the its practical implementation for the prototype to validate the feasibility of its deployment and realization.

Fragile watermarking is a technique to insert a watermark into an image without significantly degrading its visual quality so that the watermark can be extracted for the purposes of authentication or integrity verification. And the watermark for authentication and integrity verification should be erased easily when the image is changed by filtering etc. In this paper, we propose a image block-wise watermarking method for image tamper proofing using digital signature. In the proposed method, a digital signature is generated from the hash code of the initialized image block. And The proposed method is able to detect the tampered parts of the image without testing the entire block of the watermarked image.

DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2015.16.7.4918
In this paper, we consider the capacity improvement of systems exploiting dual-polarized antennas for two-user transmission. To this end, we analyze the upper bounds of ergodic capacities for multicast and unicast data services in the systems, and propose the condition for adjusting the complex cross-polarization discriminations (XPDs) to maximize the ergodic capacities. In addition, we present the adjustment condition of the complex XPDs that can achieve spectral efficiencies close to the maximum ergodic capacities with lower system complexity. Lastly simulation results demonstrate that the systems using the proposed conditions can obtain higher spectral efficiencies than the ones employing different adjustment conditions including the exiting adjustment condition.

DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2015.16.7.4936
This study(I) has analyzed hydraulic characteristics with pier shapes by the bridge construction. The pier shapes are classified into total six types such as square, rhombus, octagon, oval, round, and no-piers. One-dimensional model(HEC-RAS) and two-dimensional model (RMA-2) were employed to analyze hydraulic characteristics around bridge piers. Square and rhombus shapes of piers showed velocity vectors in the upstream direction, which has a significant impact on the river bed changes by erosion and sediment transport around the piers. The flow characteristics of the oval type pier was most similar to that of no-pier situation almost without disrupting the river flow. This analysis can help to select pier types in the new bridge construction for the future.

The application of efficient constraint handling technique is fundamental method to find better solutions in engineering optimization problems with constraints. In this research four of constraint handling techniques are used with a meta-heuristic optimization method, harmony search algorithm, and the efficiency of algorithm is evaluated. The sample problem for evaluation of effectiveness is one of the typical discrete problems, optimal pipe size design problem of water distribution system. The result shows the suggested constraint handling technique derives better solutions than classical constraint handling technique with penalty function. Especially, the case of
-constrained method derives solutions with efficiency and stability. This technique is meaningful method for improvement of harmony search algorithm without the need for development of new algorithm. In addition, the applicability of suggested method for large scale engineering optimization problems is verified with application of constraint handling technique to big size problem has over 400 of decision variables.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 16, issue 7, 2015, Pages 5009~5014
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2015.16.7.5009
Hydraulic uplift which is caused by the action of pore water pressure can be occurred in clay underlain by granular soil during conducting narrow excavation. Estimation of hydraulic uplift is done by considering soil beam. In order to execute more precise estimation of hydraulic uplift, determination of stress distribution in soil beam is necessary. This study presents stress distribution and displacement distribution in the soil beam based on the theory of elasticity. Stress distribution developed in the soil beam by self weight was derived using stress function depicted by
order of polynomial and it was seen that vertical stresses along the depth of the soil beam show parabolic distribution and those directions be downward. Regarding soil beam which has the weight of
, thickness and depth are 1m respectively, maximum vertical stress was about 1.7kPa. Stress distribution by the aciton of pore water pressure was derived via superposition of the stresses corresponding to the self weight and it can be seen that vertical compressive stresses act along the depth of the soil beam when the magnitude of pore water pressure equal to 5 times of the self weight is considered. Equations for prediction of the displacements in the soil beam are also presented.

Previous studies have considered the permeability and construction method of paving materials, thus focusing on more practical issues rather than basic research of their properties. The present study investigated the possibility of using an elastic paving material having lesser thickness in the resurfacing of existing concrete or asphalt paved areas while satisfying the necessary conditions of resilience and water permeability. An alternative to complete reconstruction would reduce the amount of resource wastage and environmental pollution, as well as the cost of projects. This study investigated five variants of thickness (10, 13, 15, 20, 25mm) and three mixing ratios of binder to rubber chips (20, 22.5, 25%) to ascertain the ideal basic properties of each. The obtained test data revealed that a minimum thickness(10~25mm) of the elastic paving materials can be determined from a qualitative point of view, and alternatives should be provided to improve the durability of the paving material on account of the temperature sensitivity.

The objective of this study is to investigate the distribution of asbestos containing materials and to evaluate risk assessment method in some schools, Korea. For the survey on ACM risk assessment, we used both EPA AHERA rule and ASTM rule. We investigated 100 schools between January and December in 2010. Detection rate of the ACM according to construction year showed that before 1980's, 1990's, 2000's, after 2000's buildings were 100%, 94.1%, 100% and 62.5%, respectively. Compared with school types, detection rate of the ACM in Kindergarten, Elementary, Middle, High, Special Education schools were 100%, 97.1%, 92.9%, 100%, 80%, respectively. Ceiling textiles contained chrysolite/mixed amosite(2~8 %) and wall cement flat boards contained chrysolite(6~11 %). Also, gasket contained chrysolite(16~17 %), slate roof contained chrysolite(10~13 %). In this study, risk assessment EPA AHERA rule of ACM showed that all materials were "Pool" grade. And, ASTM rule risk assessment showed that all materials were "Q&M program" grade.
