A Study on Surface Roughness in Wire-Cut Electric Discharge Machining

The effect of the numbers of processing on the punch and surface roughness of die block in the W-EDM, which is frequently used to manufacture parts of press die is studied. W-EDM equipment (Sodic A500H), the application of which has increased for its precision, is used in the process three times. To inspect the roughness of the three-time-processed dimension of the punch and the die, the surface roughness measuring instrument (System 5000 of Federal) is used.
A Study on Silicon Wafer Surfaces Treated with Electrolyzed Water

In the a rapid changes of the semiconductor manufacturing technologies for early 21st century, it may be safely said that a kernel of terms is the size increase of Si wafer and the size decrease of semiconductor devices. As the size of Si wafers increases and semiconductor device is miniaturized, the units of cleaning processes increases. A present cleaning technology is based upon RCA cleaning which consumes vast chemicals and ultra pure water (UPW) and is the high temperature process. Therefore, this technology gives rise to the environmental issue. To resolve this matter, candidates of advanced cleaning processes has been studied. One of them is to apply the electrolyzed water. In this work, Compared with surface on Si wafer with electrolyzed water cleaning and various chemicals cleaning, and analyzed Si wafer surface condition treated with elecoolyzed water by cleaning temperature and cleaning time. Especially. concentrate upon the contact angle. finally, contact angle on surface treated with cathode water cleaning is 17.28
Prediction of Concrete Corrosion using Electrodchemical Technique

The effect of chloride content on the corrosion of reinforced bar in concrete was studied. The mixing ratio of the concrete was 1 : 1.78 : 5.35 : 4.73 (water : content : ballast : sand). The studied chloride content was in the range of 0∼3.5 wt%. The corrosion potentials were measured in every week for two years. The copper-copper sulfate electrode (CSE) was employed as a reference electrode. After two years, the corroded structure was examined and compared to measured corrosion potential. Any visible difference was founded in the specimen located indoor and outdoor. The chloride concentration enhanced rusting and reinforced bar, shifting the potential to active range. The results showed good argument with Van daveer criteria. In 3.5 wt% chloride, the potential shifted belong -350 mV after 58week. Specimen in 1.75 wt% chloride, showed the potential between -200 mV∼-350 mV. However those in free chloride solution maintained above -200 mV for the studied period. It can the concluded that the chloride enhanced corrosion of rebar in concrete and the electrochemical potential can be a promising corrosion monitoring technique.
Color Lens Design by Changing the Combination of Coating Materials

We calculated reflectance with changing the thickness of 5th layer and visualized color of reflected light in using reflectance of RGB. by the result, when thickness is increase from 5 nm to 80 nm, red color of reflected light is decreased and increase from 80 nm to 150 nm, blue color of reflected light is increased. we maked use of Photoshop 5.0 to analyze colors.

A Study on the Improvement of Machinability of Sintered Ferrous Parts

A Study on the Colors of Enamel Wear by Changing the Ratio of Frit, Clay and Pigments

Samples of enamel wear for kitchen works were made at the Kordco Enamel Co. We analyzed the colors of enamel wears with Color Meter (JS555). The colors of enamel wears could be controled by mixing ratio of frits and pigments. Many kinds of frits and pigments were tested, and colors of enamel wears could be changed by variable frits. Colors were weakly changed by several mixing ratio of pigments.

Study on Rotor and Bushing Material of Gyro-pump

This study was performed to improve mechanical properties of rotor and bushing materials. SACD and SKD11 steels as rotor and bushing materials were investigated. Gas nitriding and TiN coating were carried out on SACM and SKD11 steels. TiN coating was deposited on SKD11 steel by reactive sputtering process. This coated layer was picked off during the operation because of insufficient adhesion. Gas nitriding was carried out on SACM and SKD11 steels in an ammonia atmosphere at 51
for 72 hrs. These gas nitrided parts showed good mechanical properties. SKD11 steels were heat-treated to obtain optimum carbide size and distribution. As a results, the hardness increased.

Development of Stacking and Transfer System for the Agile Fabrication

This paper presents the basic concept of new solid freeform fabrication system using rapid prototyping method. The system could fabricate an arbitrary ceramic form by laser cutting, transferring, stacking, and sintering of each slide. The system consists mainly of laser apparatus. X-Y table, a slide transferring system, and electric oven. The system could fabricate an object that has smooth surface with comparatively short period of time. The system is effective in terms of its direct fabrication capability without second mechanical process. The fabricated shape could directly be used as part of a whole assembly and therefore its method could be applied to various application areas.

Study on the Rapid Manufacturing for Investment Casting

The investment casting process is used frequently to manufacture precise and complex shape metal parts. The previous wax pattern manufacturing process takes long time and high costs because the process is performed by hands. In order to improve the wax manufacturing process, a new process is developed to manufacture the wax pattern by using a rapid prototyping system. A CastForm pattern is made by a Selective laser Sintering type RP with CastForm powder. The CastForm pattern is dipped in the melted wax liquid, and the melted wax penetrates into the pores of the CastForm pattern. Wax pattern is obtained after cooling the CastForm pattern slowly. A stainless steel part has been manufactured by the suggested process. By obtaining the suggested process the manufacturing time and costs are reduced largely and the accuracy is improved.
Development of Column ion Exchange Modeling with Successive Ion Exchange Equilibrium

The model can account for the local in-equilibrium with the correction of resin concentration and also can be applicable to a competitive ion exchange.
Activity Coefficients and Coulombic Correction Factor for Surface Complexation Modeling

Surface complexation models employ mass law equations to describe the reaction of surface functional groups with ions in the solution and also Gouy-Chapman theory to consider the electrostatic effects in the surface reactions. In current surface complexation models, however, the coulombic factors used are not wholly consistent with the Gouy-Chapman model of the surface. This study was to provide the derivation of the coulombic term usually employed and then a revised coulombic term completely consistent with Gouy-Chapman Theory. The electrical potential energy. zF
, in current surface complexation models is not consistent with the Gouy-Chapman theory with the potential gradient close to the charged surface but with the Donnan model with the uniform potential. Even though the new coulombic factor yielded lower surface potential, it provided worse fits for acid-base titration data of the goethite suspensions.
Characteristics of Cation Selectivity for Equilibrium and Column Cation Exchanges

Ion exchange is the most reliable process to remove the ionic impurities and the economic operation. ion exchange is widely used in water and wastewater treatment, especially softening and demineralization. ion selectivity depends on the hydrated radius, charge of ions and concentration. The objective of this study was to determine the selectivity order of cations with equilibrium and column ion exchanges and to investigate the effect of the background anion on selectivity.
