Air qualify monitoring if a primary activity for industrial and social environment. Especially, the VOCs(Volatile Organic Compounds) are very harmful for human and environment. Throughout this research. we designed sensor array with various kinds of gas sensor, and the recognition algorithm with ANN(Artificial Neural Network : BP), respectively. We have designed system to recognize various kinds and quantities of VOCs, such as benzene, tolylene, and xylene.
Priority Determination in Nutrient Solution Management in Perlite Culture

The steps related to the nutrient solution management were divided into 4 categories. The resistance for water movement in every steps was proposed. The priorities among the steps were set according to the cultural situation, which were used as the basis for the management in perlite bag culture. The enhancement of historical root development is especially critical, as well as how to supply essential water efficiently by minimizing the water movement distance to the root, which is the narrowest neck of a bottle in solution management.
A Study on Contact Resistance of the Nano-Scale MOSFET

The current driven in an MOSFET is limited by the intrinsic channel resistance. All the other parasitic elements in a device structure play a significant role and degrade the device performance. These other resistances need to be less than 15％ of the channel resistance. To achieve the requirements, we should investigate the methodology of separation and quantification of those resistances. In this paper, we developed the extraction method of resistances using calibrated TCAD simulation. The resistance of the extension region is also partially determined by the formation of a surface accumulation region that forms under the gate in the tail region of the extension profile. This resistance is strongly affected by the abruptness of the extension profile because the steeper the profile is, the shorter this accumulation region will be.
Development of a Web-based Digital Notary System Conforming International Standards

This paper developed a secure web-based digital notary system. The system conforms to international standards, and gives users very good accessibility to it. The technologies and the application systems for timestamp-related services are not yet popularized, but they are potentially meaningful to many kinds of areas such as ecommerces, digital right managements, and internet mail systems. The digital notary system uses the timestamp requests and responses which conforms to rfc 3161. The system supports secure communication between web-based notary server and its clients by using SSL(Secure Socket Layer), and use nonces for prevention of replay attacks.
Typographical Analyses and Classes in Optical Character Recognition

This paper presents a typographical analyses and classes. Typographical analysis is an indispensable tool for machine-printed character recognition in English. This analysis is a preliminary step for character segmentation in OCR. This paper is divided into two parts. In the first part, word typographical classes from words are defined by the word typographical analysis. In the second part, character typographical classes from connected components are defined by the character typographical analysis. The character typographical classes are used in the character segmentation.
An Implementation of PC based digital logic interface

In spite of the presence of various kind of Integrated Circuits it's not always easy to get the right part. Besides, it is hard to find a vendor for a small quantity consumers like who develop prototype applications. In this study, we've tried to get the logical signals from the PC based device we've developed that correspondents with the real ICs. It can emulate decoder ICs, multiplexers, demultiplexers and basic logic gates.

In this paper, I'm tying to define the connection of the Device Characteristics and the Error Terms, and yield maximum estimated value of the mismatching errors by modeling the individual devices with signal-flow graph, and by seeking the transfer function of the system with the mismatching error in the combination of the devices using the Signal-flow Graph Gain Formula.

Query System for Analysis of Medical Tomography Images

We designed and implemented a medical image query system, including a relational database and DBMS (database management system), which can visualize image data and can achieve spatial, attribute, and mixed queries. Image data used in querying can be visualized in slice, MPR(multi-planner reformat), volume rendering, and overlapping on the query system. To reduce spatial cost and processing time in the system. brain images are spatially clustered, by an adaptive Hilbert curve filling, encoded, and stored to its database without loss for spatial query. Because the query is often applied to small image regions of interest(ROI's), the technique provides higher compression rate and less processing time in the cases.
Phrase-based Indexing for Korean Information Retrieval System

This paper proposes a phrase-based indexing system based on the phrase. the larger syntax unit than a single keyword. Early information retrieval systems with indexing system matching single keyword is simple and popular. But with single keyword matching it is very hard to represent the exact meaning of documents and the set of documents from retrieval is very large, therefore it can't satisfy the user of the information retrieval systems. Web documents include lots of syntactic errors, the natural language parser with high quality cannot be expected in Web. Partial trees, even not a full tree, from fully bottom-up parsing is still useful for extracting phrases, and they are much more discriminative than single keyword for index. It helps the information retrieval system enhance the efficiency and reduce the processing overhead, too.

A Study on Home's Emergency Monitoring System Using Embedded System

In this paper, we implemented a real-time remote home monitoring system which we have ported the Linux OS and HTTP(Hypertext Transfer Protocol) web server. The GoAhead web server was ported using by ARM cross compiler. And then we used the analog to digital converter ADC0809 for sensing the vii able input signal at widely separated home. We have implemented linux device driver for ADC(Analog to Digital Convertor) and CGI-C(Common Gateway Interface - C language) application program using Client pull method for monitoring real-time changing data. The factor of monitoring is temperature, intensity of illumination and gas's existence. And this system has ability which check the status of out door and gas valve. We have designed the embedded web server system for home emergency monitoring in low cost.
A study on the sintered monolithic component of piston and rebound for automobile shock absorber

When a monolithic component of piston and rebound is produced by sintering process, some technical problems such as clogging of holes during post-machining, dimensional change around the holes, and cracking of the component edges due to concentration of mechanical stress during machining are frequently encountered. To solve these problems, we systematically evaluated and investigated the density of green compacts and sintered parts, the microstructural change around the holes, and the attenuation and durability of the sintered parts in this study. By doing so, it was able to solve above problems.
Efficient Method to Detect Color Codes - RHOW Algorithm

Compared to the barcode which is being widely employed to store information on products, the color code may find more various applications because of its favorable appearance and larger possible number of combinations. However, the color values read in practice may suffer from distortions from environments and devices. In this paper, we propose efficient ways to reduce the effect of such distortions and to detect color codes. for which we apply the Right Hand on Wall (RHOW) algorithm originated from the area of the maze search. The color codes used in this paper have high values of Hue and Saturation components and have a circular shape. We first preprocessed the images to detect candidate areas of color codes, and then applied the RHOW algorithm to determine optimal coordinates of rectangles enclosing the areas. As a result, we could obtain accurate coordinates of color codes by using the RHOW algorithm.
The Effects of Fructooligosaccharide on the Acidity and Taste during Kimchi Fermentation

The effects of fructooligosaccharide addition on acidity and taste of kimchi were examined. Compared to sucrose-added kimchi, FOS-added kimchi did not show significant effects on pH and acidity changes during storage. Additionally, FOS (1％)-added kimchi provided less sour taste, better overall sensory acceptance and less off-flavor.
Cyber Trading and KOSPI Volatility

Volatility may be defined as the sum of fundamental volatility caused by information arrival and transitory volatility caused by noise trading. This study decomposes the observed KOSPI volatility into fundamental volatility and transitory volatility using Kalman filtering method. This study investigates the effects of the introduction of cyber trading on the KOSPI volatility. Most studies investigates the effect on the observed volatility. In contrast to other studies, this study investigates the effect on the fundamental volatilty and transitory volatility individually. Analysis showed that observed volatility is increased significantly at 1％ level, but transitory volatility is not increased. This means that noise trading by irrational investors is not increased.
A study on CO gas sensing characteristics using SiC Schottky diodes

A high temperature tolerant microelectronic-based carbon monioxde(CO) gas sensor has been developed. The gas sensing performance has been studied over a wide temperature range
. The gas sensitivity of the sensor is high, its initial sensing behavior is very fast, and the sensor is reproducible. Pt-SiC and
diodes are fabricated using standard semiconductor processes and their CO gas-sensing behaviors are analyzed as a function of CO gas concentration and temperature by I-V and
methods under steady-state and transient conditions. The sensitivity of the device with
catalytic gate is higher than that of the Pt gate. The experimental results indicate that
$SnO_2$ layer improves the catalytic reaction of the Pt layer.
Environmental Sensor Selection : classification and its applications

This review focuses on the developed and the being developed environmental sensors in particular biological sensors. As well as discussing the classification and some main principles, presenting current trend of the environmental sensors is given. Two main categories are immunosensors and catalytic sensors. In addition to those. DNA or RNA sensors or protein based sensors are discussed. Some crucial examples of the applications of such sensors are given to show how the sensor technology it used for environmental and biological monitoring, biomarkers of exposure.
