Dynamic Fracture Analysis at Strip with Composite Materials

When the dynamic crack propagates along the boundary at the strip with composite materials and tears apart it, the equivalent stress and strain, and the traction stress are investigated near its boundary. There are the maximum equivalent stress and plastic strain at the very seperated part and the maximum displacement at the bent part of the end of strip. The traction stress becomes higher as the separation distance becomes more. Its maximum value becomes 75 MPa as this distance becomes 0.015 mm. As this distance becomes more than 0.015 mm, this stress becomes lower. As this distance becomes more than 0.13 mm, the value of this stress becomes 0 constantly. This study aims at doing the basic study to provide the data necessary for the precise analysis of fracture intensity, the safety design and the development of advanced materials.
A Study on Optimization of Injection-molded System Using CAE and Design of Experiment

Injection molding process is the manufacturing process that can obtain a high quality products in large quantity to a low cost. Since there are many input factors in every situation that can influence part's quality, the method is difficult to save the exact simulation data. A Study on Optimization of Catalyst Injection Controller for Reducing Soot

The popularity of the diesel engine revolves around its fuel efficiency, reliability, and durability compared to the gasoline engine. However, the main disadvantage of diesel engine is the emission of particulate matter (PM) which is known as carcinogenic substance. Therefore recent progress in engine management and after-treatment systems has led to great improvement to satisfy strict emission regulations. To comply with powerful environment regulations, this study is focused on the decrease of PM(soot) as to increase significantly exhaust temperature. Therefore, HC injection is used as the method to go to the PM regeneration temperature in front of filters composed of diesel oxidation catalyst(DOC) and diesel particulate filter(DPF). And especially, LPG is used because it has good chemical reactions with exhaust. In this study, we could manufacture the test bench thought LPG injection - with which soot can be decreased-, construct 3 kinds of database(DB) according to quantity of temperature to decide the LPG injection quantity and develop DPF ECU algorithm.
A Study on the Design of decision logic for n Tire Pressure Monitoring System

In a Vehicle, Safety is the most important factor for drivers. It is well known that tire pressure lower than normal reduces the safety of the vehicle. In a consideration of active safety, tire pressure monitoring system is absolutely required. Tire pressure monitoring using in-tire pressure sensors with an RE data link have proven to be best approach to measuring tire pressure over the widest range of operating conditions. In this paper, we describe the parameters of TPMS, the characteristic of tire pressure and temperature compensation. These are the main factors to design the decision logic. We will show the guidelines for TPMS logic development considering environment variables and vehicle conditions.
Gravitational deflection analysis for the shielded slot plate with many tiny structures

In this study, the equivalent physical properties of the shielded slot plate having a lot of very tiny bridge shape structures on its plane were determined by tensile tests and structural analyses. With those results, numerical analyses for the deflection profile by gravity effect were carried out to compare with experimental results. The two results were shown coincident very well so that the estimated equivalent physical properties were verified enough for further studies such as curvature reduction for the shielded slot plate.
Finite Element Analysis of TEE Forming for HDPE Pipe

TEE Forming process for HDPE(High Density PolyEthylen) pipe has been analyzed by using rigid plastic finite element code, DEFORM-3D. TEE of HDPE pipes is necessary to connect main pipe with branch pipe and change the flow direction of hot water. A HDPE pipe is used as a insulator to maintain the temperature of hot water A butt welding process through TEE forming for a HDPE pipe is a updated process improving the strength of welding part compared to conventional extrusion welding process. The Experiment of Hot and Cold Forming have been performed. The design parameters such as a initial hole shape have been obtained through rigid-plastic finite element analysis, which is applied to the actual manufacturing process.
Dynamics of a Projectile with a Passive Moveable Nose

The extent of impact dispersion is a function of parameters including gun geometry and tolerances, the foe control system, projectile manufacturing tolerances, etc. The study here investigates potential impact point accuracy improvement for a projectile realized by replacing the rigid nose cone wind screen with a passive nose. Toward this end, a nose projectile dynamic model is derived which consists of the standard six degrees of freedom similar to a rigid projectile plus three additional degrees of freedom associated with rotation of the nose with respect to the main projectile body. By Observing the pitch and yaw movement of the nose in the simulation results, it is believed to be possible to reduce the effects of uncertainties which is occurred at firing step.
Dynamic Fracture Behavior at the Spot Welding Plate

This study is to analyze the intensity of welding part by simulating the dynamic procedure during the fracture of plates with spot welding. The upper and tower plates attached with spot welding can be seen to fall apart at the elapsed time of 0.64 ms after the upper plate is stretched from the lower plate. The maximum von Mises stress is shown at the welding part in the mid of upper and lower plates. The internal energy decreases largely and the kinetic energy increases suddenly near the elapsed time of 0.64 ms when welding part breaks down. The sliding energy decreases with step-by-step style as the time elapses. The value of this energy becomes 0 at the elapsed time of 0.2 ms and on the contrary, two plates stick each other as this value becomes a minus after this time.
Design and Analysis of Dual Rope Brake by Spring Type

The objective of this study is to design and analyze a dual spring type rope brake. In general, a dual rope brake system are a device for an elevator in safety. Therefore, they are very important and difficult in designing. The finite element model was developed to compute stress, strain and friction force for a dual spring type rope brake. ANSYS code was applied for this investigation.
Design and Implementation of a Robust Controller Using DSP

This paper suggests the design methodology of a robust controller based on disturbance rejection controller using DSP. In this paper, we discuss process to put the disturbance rejection controller into practice, and examine the performance of disturbance rejection controller by implementing it on DSP based hardware to evaluate usefulness of controller. As a result, the proposed robust controller can not only stabilize system against disturbance ,but it improve controlling performance. And also, it shows convenient to put into practical use of industrial sites due to its easy implementation on the hardware.

pA. We investigated the change of thickness, line width, and the slope angle of the silicide patterns by FIB. More easily made with the FIB process than with the conventional polycide process. We successfully fabricated sub-100nm etched patterns with FIB condition of 30kv-30pA. Our result implies that we may integrate nano patterns with our newly proposed CoNi composite silicides.
Design of Current and Speed Controller for DC Motor Drive System Using dSPACE System

In this paper, design of current and speed controller for DC motor drive system using dSPACE 1104 system is introduced. Current and speed controller is designed and implemented using MATLAB/SIMULINK program simply and easily, and speed control response of DC motor can be advanced. Current and speed control of DC motor is carried in DSP control board using dSPACE system. Speed feedback is processed through QEP using pulse encorder as speed sensor, and current feedback is processed through A/D converter using hall sensor as current sensor. Controller is designed to PI current controler and PI speed controller. Current and speed response is verified through simulations and experiments.

film and evaluate the electrical reliability of the LTO (Low-Temperature Oxide) by making the capacitors with ONO (Oxide/Nitride/Oxide) structure. The leak current of the LTO was similar to that of the high-temperature wet oxide until the electric field was lower than 5 MV/cm. However, when the electric field was higher, the LTO showed much better characteristics.
Modeling of Piezoelectric Transformer and CCFL by PSPICE Circuit Analysis

In this paper, a PSPICE model of piezoelectric transformer and CCFL using an electrical equivalent circuit was presented. The parameters of CCFL for PSPICE were derived by the least square method. The computer simulations were performed and the results are compared on the PSIPCE model of piezoelectric transformer driven by push-pull inverter and CCFL.

Therefore, this thesis suggest that generating meaning relation between keywords with that result by passing through morpheme analysis and syntactic analysis about Natural Language Query. This approach is implied more meaning relation than query by simple keyword or simple combination between keywords. Therefore, it is going to permit much more efficient information retrieval because of solving problem about existent query form, and generating query that user's query intention is reflected more correctly.

Dynamic Round size Decision Algorithm for Identification of REID Tag

One of the biggest problems that should be solved in present RFID systems is a reduction of identification efficiency by the collision of singals between different tags. As the number of tags, which should be identified, increases over the size of allocated round, more slots experiences the collision between them. It can causes generation of tag collision assigning the fixed round size and so, allocated round size should be regulated properly. This paper proposes the algorithm which can reduce collision between tags, and allocate specific round size dynamically for efficient tag identification. After each round is finished, the reader allocates the round size dynamically using the collision information of the slot. All collision informations of the slot consists of the number of slots which came into conflict, tags which were realized properly without any conflictions and empty slots. We used slotted aloha algorithm as the collision detection algorithm and finally, checked that this could be used very usefully when this algorithm which was proposed effectively could not know how many number of tags were exisisted through the simulation in advance.
A Study on Efficient User Retrieval Feedback for Component Reuse

The paper describes a method of user feedback in order to enhance the retrieval effectiveness. In this paper, to overcome a weak point of the existing feedback function adapting fuzzy technique, we proposed the interaction function using gaussian function that gives different learning rate according to choice of components with same function. And, we grade degree that the user opinion is reflected to a system by applying user profile to the feedback function. User retrieval feedback method is adaptive retrieval method that makes a slow change for a long time using feedback function adapting gaussian function and user profile.
Stroke Extraction in Phoneme for Off-Line Handwritten Hangul Recognition

This paper proposes a new stroke extraction algorithm for phoneme segmentation, which is one of main techniques for off-line handwritten Hangul recognition. The proposed algorithm extracts vertical, slant, and horizontal strokes from phonemes using run-length. The run-length of vertical or slant strokes becomes the width, and also the number of horizontal run-lengths the width. After extracting horizontal strokes from phonemes, the algorithm links two continuous vertical or slant stokes with run-lengths of the strokes' width to represent the features of a character. The extracted strokes can be utilized to recognize a character, using template matching of strokes, which is being adopted in on-line handwritten Hangul recognition.
A Study on Selection of Distribution Function for Reliability Prediction Using Accelerated Life Test Data

The study about Accelerated Life Test and analysis of failed data is increased in order to predict and evaluate reliability of products, according as the development cycle of products is reduced. Therefore, the decision of optimal distribution function about failed data for accurate analysis of failed data and test condition for Accelerated Life Test is very important. This paper compares Anderson-Darling method with Likelihood Function method for the decision of optimal distribution function about failed data. Anderson-Darling considers only failed data and Likelihood Function considers both failed data and life-stress relationship in decision of distribution function. In the results of comparison about two methods, we found that the distribution function chosen by each method is different and the life time predicted by each decided distribution function is different.
Fuzzy Threshold Inference of a Nonlinear Filter for Color Sketch Feature Extraction

In this paper, we describe a fuzzy threshold selection technique for feature extraction in digital color images. this is achieved by the formulation a fuzzy inference system that evaluates threshold for feature configurations. The system uses two fuzzy measures. They capture desirable characteristics of features such as dependency of local intensity and continuity in an image. We give a graphical description of a nonlinear sketch feature extraction filter and design the fuzzy inference system in terms of the characteristics of the feature. Through the design, we provide selection method on the choice of a threshold to achieve certain characteristics of the extracted features. Experimental results show the usefulness of our fuzzy threshold inference approach which is able to extract features without human intervention.
An Experimental Study on Connection Strength between Tie-bar and Facing block composing Reinforced Earth

In this paper, connection strength between facing block and tie-bar was investigated through experimental study with varying in-fill material such as concrete, soil and crushed stone. Also, connection strength between anchor block and tie-bar was investigated with varying in-fill material. According to the experimental results, in case of using in-fill concrete, connection strength between facing block and tie-bar was larger than allowable tension load of tie-bar. Whereas in case of using in-fill soil or crushed stone, connection strength between facing block and tie-bar was less or similiar to allowable tension load of tie-bar. Connection strength between anchor block and tie-bar for which crushed stone was used as in-fill material, was larger than allowable tension load of tie-bar.
Microscopic Modeling of Creep Behavior for Soils

The accumulated deformation due to the undrained creep causes the general stability problem for the overall soil mass. In this study, the time-dependent constitutive equation, into which a damage law, modified cam clay model, and Perzyna's generalized viscous theory were incorporated, was derived microscopically. The model prediction agreed well with the experimental result including the case of the undrained creep rupture.
Study on Mohr-Coulomb and Duncan-Chang Models in Tunnel Analysis

In this paper, the numerical results using the Mohr-Coulomb and the Duncan-Chang models, on the stresses and strains of a tunnel under a deep open-cut site and the surrounding ground, were compared with each other. The Mohr-Coulomb model produced larger values than the Duncan-Chang model in stress and displacement of tunnel and ground.
Automation-based Building Code Checking System

This research aims at implementing an automation-based building code checking system which will be employed for Architectural Registration Examination. By creating a specific building data model and implementing an automatic building code checking module, the research aims is accomplished. The contribution of this research are as follows; it becomes possible to execute a systematic building code checking. And unlike the existing automatic building code checking systems, it successfully addresses a way of increasing the number of checklist without modifying the system.
Improvement of Working Surroundings in the Industrial Waste Incinerator

A lot of particulate matter and an offensive odor are emitted during the operations of an industrial waste incinerator (IWI), especially pre_treatment and waste input processes. These pollutants affect the labor efficiency of an operator. Therefore, in this study. we have studied the improvement of working surroundings in the industrial waste incinerator by designing a new control system. A computational fluid dynamics has been used to find the diffusion flows of air pollutants (mainly particles and odor) to the working surroundings of the waste treatment complexes. The results obtained from the simulation analysis applied to the basic design on the points (and/or site) and types of pollution control devices. When pollutant control devices are constructed, the concentration of each pollutant at site 1 and 2 decreased about 83-97% for toluene, 48-72% for styrene, 75-87% for xylene, and 23-36% for ammonia, respectively. In addition, the PM-10 and TSP were decreased about 87% and 86% at site 3 (lower part of the waste input), 87% and 85% at site 4 (side part of the waste input), respectively. These indicated that the new control system had an excellent performance of particulate matter and odor removal and it could be applied to other waste treatment plant in place of an industrial waste incinerator.
Advanced Treatment Efficiency of Biological String Media and Oenanthe javanica for Effluent Quality Improvement in the Sedimentation Model Plant

This study was aimed at the improvement of the effluent quality of municipal wastewater treatment plant by Oenanthe javanica and Bio-string media. The results were compared with conventional sedimentation tank and pilot sedimentation plant. In this study BOD as organic pollutants, SS, Nitrogen and Phosphorus were tested to evaluate the removal efficiencies for the advanced treatment. Long-term teaching Characteristics of Hexavalent Chromium Contaminated Soils Treated with Phosphate and Chromium Reducing Agent

Long-term Leaching Characteristics of Lead Contaminated Soils treated with Soluble Phosphate

A long-term leaching column experiment was performed to evaluate the teachability of the stabilized lead-contaminated soil using soluble phosphate. The study shows that Pb in the leachate was little detected and the remaining
concentration kept below 0.1 mg/L due to the formation of geochemically stable lead phosphate minerals from the reactions of labile soil Pb forms with the added soluble phosphate salt. After the experiment, there was no Pb migration from the top to the bottom of the stabilized soil column. But the Pb concentrations of the 12 soil samples from the control column decreased with the increase of the soil depth.
Remediation of PAH-Polluted Soil by Pseudomonas sp. Adhered on PU Foam

Bioremediation has been recognized as one of the best tools for hydrocarbon contaminated soil and nearby groundwater which had been heavily polluted in industrial areas. Degradation of PAHs in PAH-polluted loam soil were investigated under polyurethane foam environment with adsorbed bacteria Pseudomonas sp. (KCCM 40055) in order to acquire vital data for the environmentally-friendly process and material. macroporous commercial polyurethane foam that is widely used for microbial attachment in such as sewage treatment was selected for experiments. We also examined the microbial adherence upon the media. SR9-35C/G among the PU samples showed the highest degree of attachment and bioconversion. The conversion efficiency increased with moisture content of soil.
Thermally Curable Organic-inorganic Hybrid Coatings on Ophthalmic Lenses by the Sol-Gel Method

Coating are needed on ophthalmic lenses to enhance both the mechanical durability of the relatively soft plastic surface and the optical performance of lenses. Organic-inorganic hybrid materials as molar ratio of 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane(GPTS), methyltrimethoxysilane(MTMS) and tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS) were used to improve the surface characteristics and the optical properties on allyl diglycol carbonate lenses. The coated lens properties of transmittance, adhesion, pencil hardness, abrasion resistance, hot water resistance and chemical resistance were investigated. Filling the microchannels is very important in designing micro-injection molding, microdevices, etc. In this paper, flow dynamics was studied in injection molding with microchannels. A transparent PMMA mold was designed and the flow dynamics was observed. The experiment was performed using poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO) and polyacrylamide (PA) aqueous solutions. The transignt dynamic flow and flow competition between the base plate and the microchannels were observed. The flow observation was used to explain previous filling length results in microchannels during micro-injection molding.
Isolation and Charaterization of the Fibrinolytic Enzyme Producing Bacterium isolated from Naturally Fermented Chungkookjang

The aim of this work was to perform the screening and identification of the bacterium, MK-15 having the activity of fibrinolytic enzyme for the commercial use. Initially, strain MK-15 was enriched and isolated from naturally fermented soybean. Morphological and various physiological characteristics of the strain MK-15 was examined. The activity of fibrinolytic enzyme derived from supernatants of test culture MK-15 was performed by fibrin plate method for solid fibrinolytic activity. As the result, the fibrinolytic activity of MK-15 grown on the soybean media was about 2.7 times greater than that of plasmin used as stardard. 16S rRNA analyses revealed that strain MK-15 was 99.9% similar to Bacillus subtilis species cluster, and the bacterium was designated as Bacillus sp. MK-15. Strain MK-15 was registered in GenBank as [DQ163021].
A Study on the Separate Account related with the Valuation of Investment Securities and Profits Sharing in Korea Life Insurance Company

The purpose of the study is to make a proposal of how to improve the separate account in Korean life insurance accounting and regulations. A separate account is required to improve the transparency of accounting and fairness of dividing the profit between company and lift insurance contractors. A separate account may be the first step to solve this conflict by clearing the profit sharing of shareholder's and contractor's of the insurance with dividend. The separate account should be designed to reflect the real economic consequences of insurance company and consider the real outcome of the performance-based insurance commodities. The separate account should contain the rules of IASs and KASs. If a separate account is successfully settled down, the portions of contractor's dividend and the dispute about initial public offering of insurance companies can be solved gradually.
A Study on the Ubiquitous Industryz's Effects on Korean Economy using Interindustry Analysis

In this paper, we investigate the national effects of the ubiquitous industry(UI) for a u-Korea(ubiquitous Korea) project. As the UI has now been playing the more and more important role in Korean economy, it will be very appropriate to provide the policy makers with the accurate and reliable implications regarding the role of UI in the national economy. This paper applies the interindustry analysis to examine the impact of UI under the unique situation of Korea. To do this, we use the Input-Output Table published by the Bank of Korea in 2000. Our results shows that the economic effects of UI on the production-inducing, value added-inducing, export & import-inducing and employment-inducing in Korea will approximately be 240 trillion won from 2005 through 2010.
Silver Alloying Process for Mokumegane-like Effect for Jewelry Design

Silver is one of the most appropriate Jewelry materials for Jewelry casting and bench working. The technique known as 'Mokumegane' is good for making silver jewelry with natural patterns, such as wood grain patterns, but the process is not easy for silversmithing because it requires complicated and heavy labour. Instead of using conventional Mokumegane technique, we propose a new modified silver-copper casting process that enables a similar surface effect with good metal bonding strength between silver and copper. Simply pouring the molten silver into pre-aligned copper granules or 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm-thick copper sheets leads to well embedded copper silver ingots. The rolled silver plates from those ingots show excellent bonding interface even after the silver plate rolled ten times. We successfully fabricated prototype rings with copper embedded silver plates. Our result implies that our newly proposed process nay be a simpler way to fabricate silver jewelry with a pseudo-Mokumegane effect.
Control of Boost Converter based on FPGA for Solar Energy System

In this study, we designed a digital fuzzy logic controller based on FPGA for MPPT of the solar power generation system. A fuzzy algorithm to control the power tracking function of a boost converter has been built into the FPGA, and applied to the small scaled solar power generation system. The embodied controller showed a stable operation characteristic with the small output voltage ripple for the intensity change of solar radiation. This result proves that the implementation of the power tracking controller using FPGA is an effective way compared to the existing one using microprocessors.
Customer Segmentation of a Home Study Company using a Hybrid Decision Tree and Artificial Neural Network Model

Due to keen competition among companies, they have segmented customers and they are trying to offer specially targeted customer by means of the distinguished method. In accordance, data mining techniques are noted as the effective method that extracts useful information. This paper explores customer segmentation of the home study company using a hybrid decision tree and artificial neural network model. With the application of variance selection process from decision tree, the systemic process of defining input vector's value and the rule generation were developed. In point of customer management, this research analyzes current customers and produces the patterns of them so that the company can maintain good customer relationship. The case study shows that the predicted accuracy of the proposed model is higher than those of regression, decision tree (CART), artificial neural networks.
