A Study on the Combustion Characteristics of the Small Scale Cyclone Incinerate System for Sludge

The performance of the small scale cyclone incinerate system (100kg/hr) to process the sewage sludge containing high moisture is evaluated. The incinerate system design is based on properties of the domestic sewage sludge. The combustion characteristics of the incinerate system is tested and analyzed with the various operation conditions of the moisture level, the sludge feed rate and the auxiliary fuel feed rate. The pressure loss of the whole system is appeared relatively small of 700mmAq under the normal operating condition and the temperature distribution of the incinerator internal combustion is maintained less than 1000C. Auxiliary fuel of 4.7 1/hr is required to incinerate 100kg sludge which include 87% moisture. Because the inside temperature of the incinerator is maintained less than
, it is predicted that the most NOx measured is produced not from the heat during the combustion process but from the oxidation of the N ingredient in the sludge. From the component analysis of ash, the organic matter is not entirely detected. Accordingly, it is estimated that the complete combustion has been accomplished in the incinerator.
Hydraulic Control Characteristics of the ABS for an Automotive

For the purpose of optimal control of anti-lock brake system, precise dynamic characteristics analysis of the hydraulic modulator, especially solenoid valve is necessary. However, most of researches so law have dealt with dynamic characteristic analysis of valve itself and the results have been restrictive to apply on the actual ABS modulator, where hydraulic pressure is acting. In this study, mathematical modeling and experimental analysis were executed in order to evaluate the valve dynamic characteristics when the hydraulic pressure applied. High pressure on the master cylinder effects on the valve dynamic characteristics have been analyzed quantitatively and performance improvement methods have been suggested varying the design factor. Consequently, results of solenoid valve dynamic characteristics analysis derived in the study can be utilized criteria for the optimal control of anti-lock brake system.
A Study on Vibration Monitoring for Inferior Window Regulator Selection

If an error occurs in a product that contains a source of vibration, an abnormal noise vibration will occur. Recently a system that has been modified from the previous method of noise detection-a method of appraising the quality of manufactured automobile part by using human ears-is being implemented in the industries of automobile parts. This new system distinguishes the product's vibration signals by measuring and analyzing the signals. Following the recent trend, it has been concluded that the appraisal process of Window Regulator Module needed an improvement. Thus, a vibration monitoring system using LabVIEW, which measures and analyzes vibration signals from a sector gear's connected part by using an accelerometer, has been developed. By analyzing the characteristics of vibration signals of both inferior and superior goods, now the quality of the product can be evaluated much more accurately.
Silicidation Reaction Stability with Natural Oxides in Cobalt Nickel Composite Silicide Process

We investigated the silicide reaction stability between 10 nm-Col-xNix alloy films and silicon substrates with the existence of 4 nm-thick natural oxide layers. We thermally evaporated 10 nm-Col-xNix alloy films by varying
on naturally oxidized single crystal and 70 nm-thick polycrystalline silicon substrates. The films structures were annealed by rapid thermal annealing (RTA) from
for 40 seconds with the purpose of silicidation. After the removal of residual metallic residue with sulfuric acid, the sheet resistance, microstructure, composition, and surface roughness were investigated using a four-point probe, a field emission scanning electron microscope, a field ion bean4 an X-ray diffractometer, and an Auger electron depth profiling spectroscope, respectively, to confirm the silicide reaction. The residual stress of silicon substrate was also analyzed using a micro-Raman spectrometer We report that the silicide reaction does not occur if natural oxides are present. Metallic oxide residues may be present on a polysilicon substrate at high silicidation temperatures. Huge residual stress is possible on a single crystal silicon substrate at high temperature, and these may result in micro-pinholes. Our results imply that the natural oxide layer removal process is of importance to ensure the successful completion of the silicide process with CoNi alloy films.
Hash based Secure RFID Authentication Protocol for User Privacy Protection

RFID, a non-contact wireless identification technology is being noticed as a technology to alternate barcode system in distribution industry and general industry. Despite of merit of RFID, there are issues to be solved for practical use. One of them, which are most important, is resolution of user's information protection. RFID system without security function bears risk exposing personal data and user's privacy. In this paper, we propose mutual authentication protocol for RFID system in order to solve this security issue. This study aimed to protect user's privacy by providing dynamic ID for tag through authentication protocol safe from security threats. Information being transmitted between backend, reader and tag has no direct connection with ID of tag, and it conducts authentication process using one-way hash function, which prevents attacker's obtaining of tag information using information being transmitted.

RFID in which subminiature IC chip with the indentified information is built a core technique that can recognize, trace and manage various information of an object using radio frequency in the age of Ubiquitous. Several pressing matters about an infringement of Privacy and a security of private information should be settled as soon as possible because an information of specific circumstance can be collected and used without any awareness by others as well as a private information. In addition, various algorithms with high level of security, which is normally used in wire, can be hardly applied to RFID tag because of a lot of restrictions of tag. In this report, designed-RFID tag based on the standard of ISO/IEC 18000-6 and the problems which originated from the technical procedure of that design were analyzed, and the algorithm which could be applied to the designed-tag was also investigated.
Rule-Based Anchor Shot Detection Method in News Video: KBS and MBC 9 Hour News Cases

In this paper, an anchor shot detection method, which is a basic technology for managing news videos for index and retrieval purposes is proposed. To do that, two most popular news program such as 'KBS 9 Hour News' and 'MBC 9 Hour News' are analyzed and 4-step rule based detection method is proposed First, in the preprocessing, video shot boundaries are detected and the 1st frame of each shot is extracted as a key frame. Then, the detected shot is declared as an anchor shot, if all the following 4 conditions are satisfied. 1) There is an anchor face in the key frame of a shot. 2) Spatial distribution of edges in the key frame is adequate. 3) Background color information of the key frame is similar to the color information of an anchor model. 4) Motion rate in the shot is low. In order to show the validity of the proposed method, three 'KBS 9 Hour News' and three 'MBC 9 Hour News', which have total running time of 108 in minute and are broadcasted at different days, are used for experiments. Average detection rates showed 0.97 in precision, 1.0 in recall, and 0.98 in F-measure.
Design and Realization of Realtime Auction System

Recently, real time auction system is increasingly required as internet grows up. According to this social requirement change, this paper designed and implemented a real time auction system. The system registers the goods for auction which customers add to their interested list in their point of view, automatically responds their information and gives a chance to the customer to apply to auction immediately via internet, and performs registration such as customer's information, goods, interested goods, etc. And, the customers on the system can purchase their interested goods rapidly and easily by check-up service of their interested and auctioned products without regarding to place or time through a mobile terminal.
Analysis of e-Learning Server Workload

This paper aims to provide information to generate a statistical load model of an educational server by analyzing workload of an e-Learning sewer at Dankook University. The result of the analysis shows file size distribution, access frequency and transmission volume for each file type, access interval, changes in preference and clients access rate by networks. In particular, it had different results from previous studies about video file's size distribution and file distribution based on access frequency. This is because the characteristics of e-learning are influenced by using authoring tools for making into video file and by freeing the number of students who register for a course. The result in this paper can be used as a basic data for studies designed to improve e-learning system architecture and server performance.
Performance Analysis for the Handover in Mobile Communication Environment with Multilayered Cell Structure

This paper analyzes the performance of the handover in an overlaid micro/macro cellular system suited for mobile communication environments. In proposed model, it is analyzed the performance of case that subscriber who move with high speed does handover to a macrocell instead of doing handover by microcell. For an easy analysis, a circle shaped cell model are assumed both in microcell and macrocell. The reservation channel scheme is adopted in microcell for a low-speed mobile while a scheme using queue is used in macrocell for a high-speed mobile. The analytic results show that the proposed scheme provides a lower handover failure relatively than in a non-overlaid cellular system with slightly increased new call blocking probability.
Definition of Architecture Patterns regarding Quality Attributes

The paper focuses on how to classify as well as to define the Architecture Patterns which are popularly used in the design of software architecture. In order to achieve this purpose, we propose not only the revised methodology for Pattern-Oriented Software Architecture Design, but also new method of classification and definition for the Architecture Patterns. Especially, because the patterns are so diverse depending on the level of abstraction and types of applications, it was considered to have some different views of classification of the patterns in order to support convenient access to classified and stored patterns. The abstraction of the pattern is another important result of the research, which is devised for concrete expression of the patterns and for presentation of the interrelation among group of the patterns. The research also includes the extension of the quality model popularly adopted in the software domain, which enables the description of the patterns with the well defined quality attributes in terms of software architecture's point of view.
Computational Modelling to Predict the Welding Deformation in Steel Structures

Welding deformation causes critical problems under construction and in use of steel structures by varying the magnitude of the steel structures and deteriorating mechanic strength. Existing method to construct steel structures in civil engineering needs preassembly process for a part of or the whole structures on a broad space to examine the size of structures inevitably varied in the process of welding (assembly process). It leads to waste of time, space and human efforts, worry of safety accidents with the characteristic of the work to be performed on a high place, and non-efficiency and non-economy by using such supplementary equipments as crane. This paper, to remove the needless preassembly process by pre-estimating welding deformation produced under construction of large steel structures, devises a method modeling welded part for applying the equivalence load method and examines the effects of welding sequence and self weight on welding deformation by the method.
Field Driveability Test of Wide Hat-type Sheet Pile using Vibro-Hammer

A new steel sheet pile of wide hat-type was developed. Advantage of using wide type of sheet pile is reducing steel weight and consequently cutting down construction cost. Field driveability tests were conducted in order to verifying vibro-driveability of wide hat-type sheet pile. As a result of the tests, penetration rates of newly developed sheet piles were less than those of U-type sheet piles. Axial stresses developed in sheet pile during driving were fur less than yield stress of sheet pile. Futhermore, initial penetration rates of sheet piles were much larger than those obtained from WEAP program.
An Analysis about Inundation and Carrying Capacity of Drain Pipes in Urban Area

The localized rainfall happens frequently in urban areas recently and then, he drain pipes of urban areas do not drain well when the localized rainfalls happen. Specially, the inundation by the backwater on the lowland should be solved certainly in urban planning and sewer rehabilitation. In this study, it was examined whether the carrying capacities of the drain pipe are satisfied about a current design standard of the rainfall considering the outflows of the urban areas by the rainfall analysis. Also, the backwater in the drain pipe and the inundation on the lowland were analyzed considering the water level of the discharged river and the propriety of the design standard was examined by the analysis about the rainfall frequency. Also, the results offered the basic data to decide whether the detention reservoir should be established and the scale of the pump station.
A Study on the Analysis of Anisotropic Curved Thin Beams and Anisotropic Curved Thick Beams

In this study, it is presented analytic results of bending problems in the anisotropic curved thick beam and the anisotropic curved thin beam. The anisotropy is that the material properties are different in each directions and it is difficult to solve the analytical solutions because the behavior is complex. In applying numerical method to solve differential equations of anisotropic curved beams, this study uses the finite element method. Both thin beam theory and thick beam theory are used as the basic governing equations of bending problems in the anisotropic beams. The analytic results are compared between the anisotropic curved thick beams and the anisotropic curved thin beams.
A study on the daylight condition of the apartment houses - Focused on the comparative analysis of the daylight condition between the plank type and tower type apartment complex -

This study aims at analysing the daylight condition of the existing and the newly planned apartment complex due to the azimuth angle, and throughout that result, presenting the necessity of new concept of architectural law for apartment complex design in the matter of daylight condition. For this purpose selecting one apartment complex which showed typical shape of '=' or 'ㅁ', 3D daylight analysis was applied for the existing condition. And then after new complex was planned according to the architectural law, additional 3D analysis on the daylight with the various conditions were accomplished. This 3D analysis for daylight condition can give accurate results and design direction which are suitable for the new complex plan of apartment houses.
Evaluation of Calcium Carbonate Saturation Indices in Water

In order to examine the corrosiveness of tap water, we studied methods calculating various indices including calcium carbonate saturation indices, using RTW model and LPLWIN model. Indices such as LI, RI and AI could be computed using the RTW model, whereas the LPLWIN model could find indices as LI, LR and CCPP. With water quality data obtained from tap water of Han River and Nak-Dong River watersheds, based on the indices found from the models, the water quality of the Nak-Dong River is better than that of Han River in the point of resisting corrosiveness. Further, the water quality of winter is highly corrosive than that of summer, as long as the temperature rises up, the corrosiveness is reduced.
Phosphate Removal in the Wastewater by the different Size of Granular Converter Slag

Recent publications have paid attention on the utilization of solid reagents for the removal of substances causing eutrophication, in particular
ions. The adsorption of dissolved inorganic phosphate on slag produced by the refining process of iron ore was fundamentally studied for suppressing the liberation of phosphate from wastewater. This study has been conducted in order to find a possibility to improve the phosphate removal and to evaluate the phosphate removal variation to form hydroxyapatite, when the converter slag is used for phosphate removal. The result shows that the converter slag can be applied to remove phosphate using Freundlich isotherm. The size of converter slag,
was more efficient than
to remove phosphate. In particular, 1 mg/L of phosphate can be removed up to 80% of the initial concentration for the continuous column experiment.
A Study on Tertiarization in Korea: Test of Baumol's Hypothesis

Using a panel data of Korea for
, this study investigates the determinants of the service sector employment share in Korea. In order to analyze the impact of macroeconomic factors on the service sector's employment share we estimate a simple panel model which is in line with Baumol's model. The panel GMM estimation results show that: 1) The increase in the share of service-related jobs in total employment tends to rise with GDP per capita, which confirms demand-bias hypothesis proposed by Clark. 2) We find that a crucial role in this process has been played by the productivity gap. As Baumol's hypothesis or Baumolis disease, the expansion of the employment share in services relative to industry is the direct consequence of services' lower productivity performances.
Natural antibrowning treatments on fresh-cut apple slices

A comprehensive study to evaluate the relative antibrowning activity of 5 known natural juices was conducted. Among the juices tested, rhubarb juice showed the highest inhibitory activity on apple browning (
after 6 storage days at
). Even 50% diluted rhubarb juice was very effective in controlling apple discoloration, showing very limited change in Hunter's L and E values. No significant difference in apple slices browning was observed with respect to the packaging material (LDPE or nylon/PE). However, gas composition inside package was closely related to apple browning.
Utilization of Soybean for Swine Diets

Soybean meal was widely used as a protein source in pig feedstuff because it has a good amino acid balance compared with other vegetable sources. However, soybeans contain trypsin inhibitors and other antinutritional factors which can lead to lower the digestibility of amino acid, and consequently reduce the growth performance. Heat treatment of soybeans is helpful shown to decrease the antinutritional factors and elicit an improved growth performance. Additionally, microbial processe using(HP 100, HP 200 and HP 300), and non-protein constituent removal are suggested to improve the growth performance and nutrient digestibility. Inadequate heat treatment of soybeans gives no damage to adult pig, but it has been shown to decrease nutrient digestibility in young pig. So, soy protein concentrate (SPC) and Isolated soy protein(ISP) were more widely used for nursery pigs than growing and finishing pigs, since SPC and ISP have similar characteristics as milk product.
