Improvement of welding property of seat fiame is necessary for safety because seat frame is a unique connecting structural part between the rider and vehicle. Generally the robot and jig system for own use is used for welding of seat frame and unwelded zone can be inspected because of the geometrical interference between robot and jig system. In this study the unwelded zone of the conventional welding jig system is analysed and the 3D modeling and design change to solve the problem is discussed. As a result the weldability of system is improved and the manual welding jig is unnecessary because of the optimal jig system.
Numerical Simulation on Ventilation Characteristics of an Underground Bus Parking Lot

In this paper, the ventilation characteristics of an underground parking lot with 17 buses has been investigated for two cases by computational fluid dynamics. It has been found that the average concentration of CO and
gas in the parking lot were 1.3 and 0.3 ppm respectively, when four buses operated. When the fifteen vehicles stopped in the parking lot, the average concentration of CO and
gas was 2.9 and 0.8 ppm respectively. The average concentration of two pollutants
are lower than the standard values. Therefore the facilities and its location is proper to ventilation.
Performance Characteristics of an Electronically Controlled EGR Valve for Diesel Engines

Lately, the modulated EGR system that includes EGR valve and EGR cooler is being installed in diesel engines fur the purpose of the simultaneous reduction of NOx and PM. In this study. we designed and constructed a test bench for the performance evaluation of the modulated EGR system, and tested an electronically controlled EGR valve for 2.0 L diesel engines. The performance of the EGR valve was evaluated in terms of the valve lift behavior. the valve opening/closing response, and the mass flow rate through the valve. The valve lift with respect to the duty ratio of PWM signal was non-linear, and followed a different path fur valve opening and closing, that is, hysteresis. The valve opening response was concluded satisfactory falling within the usual standard response time. For the duty ratio of 40 to 60%, the mass flow rate through the valve was observed to depend on the pressure difference across the valve as well as the duty ratio, while it solely depended on the pressure difference fur the duty ratio above 60%.
Development of Measurement System for Welding Bead Shape using LabVIEW

Recently, as consumer's claim fur car safety is increased, quality inspection method fur welding zone is strengthened. Therefore, from the methods that depend on welding zone bead shape size of seat frame in macrography or passive examination, the quality control by whole recording inspection is required. In this study, the system that is measuring automatically if worker checks welding bead fur quality inspection of seat frame is developed using LabVIEW. If the quality standard for the bead width and length of welding zone is inputted, the system measures automatically whether welding zone is bead length or bead width. Measured data is preserved by points and quality recording of welding zone is stored. The car seat きme welding zone is applied and experimented. The results gave good influence o9 the quality control of work efficiency.

Low Power Testing in NoC(Network-on-Chip) using test pattern reconfiguration

In this paper, we propose the efficient low power test methodology of NoC(Network-on chip) for the test of core-based systems that use this platform. To reduce the power consumption of transferring data through router channel, the scan vectors are partitioned into flits by channel width. The don't cares in unspecified scan vectors are mapped to binary values to minimize the switching rate between flits. Experimental results for full-scanned versions of ISCAS 89 benchmark circuits show that the proposed method leads to about 35% reduction in test power.

This paper presents a implementation of speed sensorless vector control of induction motor using MATLAB/SIMULINK and dSPACE DS1104. Proposed flux estimation algorithm, which utilize the combination of the voltage model based on stator equivalent model and the current model based on rotor equivalent model, enables stable estimation of rotor flux. Proposed rotor speed estimation algorithm utilizes the estimated flux. And the estimated rotor speed is used to speed control of induction motor. Overall system consists of speed controller, current controller, and flux controller using the most general PI controller. Speed sensorless vector control algorithm is implemented as block diagrams using MATLAB/SIMULINK. And realtime control is performed by dSPACE DS1104 control board and Real-Time-Interface(RTI).
Performance Comparison of Single-Phase PLL Algorithms Using Virtual 2-Phase Strategy

The frequency and phase angle of utility voltage represent very important information fur applications such as AC/DC converters and Uninterruptible Power Supplies(UPS). In a three-phase system, the utility voltage information can be easily obtained by using a utility voltage vector. However, in the case of a single-phase system. the utility voltage information is much harder to obtain. This paper presents a comparative study of single-phase PLL algorithms using virtual 2-phase strategy. Simulation and experimental results, including operation of the PLL structures introduced in reference papers, are presented to allow a performance comparison of the PLL algorithms.
Development of Image Processing Software for UT-NDE of Steam Generator of Nuclear Power Plant

This paper describes a development of ultrasonic examination analysis software to analyze steam generator of nuclear power plant. The developed software includes classical analysis method such as A, B, C and D-scan images. This software provides the information of shape, depth, size and position of flaws. To do such, we obtain raw data from specimens and/or real pipeline of power plants and, modify the obtained ultrasonic 1-dimensional data according to prepared software design schedule. The developed analysis software is applied to specimens containing various flaws with known dimensions. The results of applications showed that the developed software provided accurate and enhanced images of flaws on various specimens.
An Operation and Control Algorithm of Micro-grid

There is an increasing concern to interconnect DG(Distributed Generation) units into a distribution system and operate and maintain the system power quality within a proper level to distribution companies, regional electricity utilities and industrial customers. Recently, this situation makes many experts estimate a next generation of distribution system which is composed of some micro-grids. But the proposed micro-grid is only mentioned as a small grid with some DG units, some power quality compensators, communication and control equipments. In this paper, a topology and an operation/control algorithm of the micro-grid which is able to supply the electricity with high reliability and quality, are proposed.
A Development of Video Monitoring System on Real Time

Non-intrusive methods based on active remote IR illumination fur eye tracking is important for many applications of vision-based man-machine interaction. One problem that has plagued those methods is their sensitivity to lighting condition change. This tends to significantly limit their scope of application. In this paper, we present a new real-time eye detection and tracking methodology that works under variable and realistic lighting conditions. Based on combining the bright-pupil effect resulted from IR light and the conventional appearance-based object recognition technique, our method can robustly track eyes when the pupils are not very bright due to significant external illumination interferences. The appearance model is incorporated in both eyes detection and tracking via the use of support vector machine and the mean shift tracking. Additional improvement is achieved from modifying the image acquisition apparatus including the illuminator and the camera.
Image Enhancement Techniques for UT - NDE for Sizing and Detection of Cracks in Narrow Target

In this paper describes image enhancement technique using deconvolution processing for ultrasonic nondestructive testing. When flaws are detected fur B-scan or C-scan, blurring effect which is caused by the moving intervals of transducer degrades the quality of images. In addition, acquisited images suffer form speckle noise which is caused by the ultrasonic components reflected from the grain boundary of material (1,2). The deconvolution technique can restore sharp peak value or clean image from blurring signal or image. This processing is applied to C-scan image obtained from known specimen. Experimental results show that the deconvolution processing contributes to get improved the quality of C-scan images.
An Access Control Model For The Authority Filtering in the Distributed Environment

Role-based Access Control (RBAC) model appears to be the most appropriate technique for access control to minimize the errors likely to occur in managing users and network resources. In this paper, we introduced the Work-concept RBAC model that is the result of the Work concept imported to the role based access control model. Using our extended access control model a user could select a work which is more abstract and more inclusive concept than role to do his work. Additionally even if the user has an authority through selecting a work, if a user has no relation to his assigned job, it will be automatically prohibited.
Enhancement of Wavelet-coded Image by Directional Filtering

In many multimedia applications, image compression is required to substantially reduce the amount of image data. This compression, however, sometimes brings artifacts. Typical artifacts are blocking artifacts and mosquito noise in DCT-coded images, and ringing artifacts around edges in wavelet-coded images. We propose a new directional postprocessing algorithm, which includes detection of the edge direction, interpolation scheme, and directional nonlinear filtering, to enhance the quality of decoded images. Detection of Facial Feature Regionsby Manipulation of DCT's Coefficients

This paper proposes a new approach fur the detection of facial feature regions using the characteristic of DCT(discrete cosine transformation) thatconcentrates the energy of an image into lower frequency coefficients. Since the facial features are pertained to relatively high frequency in a face image, the inverse DCT after removing the DCT's coefficients corresponding to the lower frequencies generates the image where the facial feature regions are emphasized. Thus the facial regions can be easily segmented from the inversed image using any differential operator. In the segmented region, facial features can be found using face template. The proposed algorithm has been tested with the image MIT's CBCL DB and the Yale facedatabase B. The experimental results have shown superior performance under the variations of image size and lighting condition.
Design and Development of Communication Analysis System for GSM Mobile Phones

As the number of mobile telephone users increases, technologies fur increasing quality of services between a mobile terminal and the base station transceiver system become more important than ever. The important criteria of quality of service includes minimum interference of base station, the success rate of network access and portability between different mobile companies. Among many factors, the successful rate of network connection between a mobile terminal and the base station is the most important. In this paper, we introduce an analysis system of mobile terminals using RS-232C communication after considering such environments. This application software simulates the communicational signals between and mobile terminals and the base station and shows the results through the graphs. Using this system, the task about testing communication performance of mobile terminals will be easy since it helps to analyze the status of communication.
Improving Performance of Web Search Engine using Query Word Senses and User Feedback

This paper proposes a technique improving performance using word senses and user feedback in web information retrieval, compared with the retrieval based on ambiguous user query and index. Disambiguation using word senses is very important processing for improving performance by eliminating the irrelevant pages from the result. According to semantic categories of nouns which are used as index for retrieval, we build the word sense knowledge-base and categorize the web pages. It can improve the performance of retrieval system with user feedback deciding the query sense and information seeking behavior to web pages.

If you are planning to enhance the objectivity and the validity of evaluation modules, it is necessary to construct the system based on international standard. There are two international standard, ISO/IEC 12119 and ISO/IEC 9126 related to quality evaluation of software. In this paper, we developed remote control devices that can be controlled passive component e.g. resistor, inductor, capacitor that is a basic element in the electric circuit. We embodied a remote laboratory for basic circuit theory which learners can experiment controlling element value to remote through the internet. It was seen that is useful applying passive component developing to a remote laboratory. Because developed passive components can response in an experiment altering several element values to remote, they will be used very usefully in a remote experiment that equip various experiment theme. Therefor the proposed laboratory will be solved problems of virtual laboratory which students do not handle instruments in engineering experiment. With our proposed system, students can experiment any time, anywhere.
Behaviors of Internally Confined Hollow Reinforced Concrete Piers by Thickness of Internal Steel Tube

An infernally confined hollow reinforced concrete pier (ICH RC pier) is hollow RC pier which has a internal steel tube to enhance its ductility and stiffness by internal confinement. In this study, the internal steel tube were changed to investigate the behavior of ICH RC pier. The behavior of internally confined hollow reinforced concrete piers were evaluated with safety ratio, ductility, total material cost, the total weight of the pier, etc. As a result of analytical study, the usage of a minimum necessary thickness of the internal steel tube the most effective. The ICH RC pier has decrease of weight compare to Solid RC pier.
An Estimation of Bearing Capacity and Driveability of Steel Sheet Pile Installed by Vibratory Hammer

Penetration tests were performed for two types of steel sheet piles which were driven in clay deposit and sand deposit. Penetration velocity data acquired from penetration tests were used in order to estimate bearing capacity and vibro-driveability of steel sheet piles. Bearing capacity values predicted from Davisson method and Bombard method were greater than that calculated from static bearing capacity formula by 11.9 times and 1.6 times respectively. Vibro-driveability predictions from
method show correspondence to field test result fur sand deposit but not for clay deposit. From motor powers estimated by Savinov and Luskin method it can be seen that larger capacities of motor powers are required for clay deposit and adequate hammer was used for sand deposit.
Development of Bridge Expansion Joint for Fiber Reinforced Polymer Deck

A Study on the Characteristics of Children's Environmental Behavior

The purpose of this paper is to provide design information about children facilities, in which children's demands as main users are subject to be missed because of the shortage of children's communication ability in making design decisions. For this purpose various studies on childhood environment-behavior characteristics supporting children's demands are examined. The main part of this paper is divided into two categories, personal characteristics and social characteristics, and each category has several sub-categories. In personal characteristics, issues related to environmental perception and cognition are examined focused on development and change in childhood. Subjects about social characteristics include privacy, personal space, territoriality and density. Each part deals with definition and function of each items, and issues related to environmental design of children's facilities.

Effect of two compatibilizers haying comonomer in polypropylene/clay nanocomposites

Nanocomposites prepared by PP(Polypropylene) based compatibilizers modified with GMA(Glycidyl methacrylate) and HEMA(Hydroxyethyl methacrylate) were used to investigate the clay dispersion and mechanical properties of them. XRD patterns showed the improvement of dispersion through clay intercalation according to the compatibilizers and comonomer. GMA modified polypropylene gave the best mechanical properties of the nanocomposite with respect to the balance of Flexural modulus (FM) and Notched izod impact strength(IS). Compatibilizers with comonoer commonly have higher grafting yield and lower melt flow rate than those of comonomer free. And they enhanced the clay dispersion and mechanical properties of nanocomposites. Optimum ratio of monomer to comonomer for nanocomposites having better mechanical properties is about 1 to 1 ratio.

This research aims to evaluate the change of pH, alkalinity, leaching of positive ion in the wastewater and the removal of phosphate from the initial condition of wastewater. The change of pH was abruptly increased upto pH 11 for the initial condition of pH from 7.0 to 8.5 fer 0.5 unit of pH. The alkalinity was steadily increased from 10 hours of reaction time not same as pH increase. The removal of phosphate was very effective till 10 hours of reaction then it was slow after that time. The positive ion, magnesium ion was leached from the concentration of 2.0 mg/L to 4.3mg/L at the reaction time of 27 hours and 36 hours. Therefore, converter slag can be used to remove the phosphate in the form of Struvite from the wastewater.
A study on the effect of the water purification by Lythrum anceps, Pistia straiotes, Oenanthe javanica, and Phragmites japonica

The COD removal capacity of aquatic plants, when foamed glasses were not used, showed 56% for Pistia straiotes, 48% for Phragmites japonica and 41% for Oenanthe javanica, but no significant COD removal was observed for Lythrum anceps. When the foamed glasses were used as support materials, the COD removal efficiency increased for all aquatic plants used in this study showing 69% fur Pistia straiotes, 68% for Pharagmites japonica 62% for Oenanthe javanica, respectively. The T-N removal efficiency of aquatic plants when foamed glasses were used as support materials showed 91% for Lythrum anceps and 93% for Phragmites japonica. Similar removal efficiency was observed as 94% for all aquatic plants planted as a group used in this study. The T-P removal efficiency of aquatic plants when foamed glasses were not used showed 35% for Lythrum anceps, 8% for Phragmites japonica, however, that, when foamed glasses were used, ranged 78% for Lythrum anceps, 43% for Phragmites japonica, showing that the foamed glasses increase the T-P removal efficiency of aquatic plants used in this study.
Long-term Characteristics of Heavy Metal Contamination in Highway Roadside Soil and Sediment

To study long-term characteristics of the heavy metal contamination, soil and sediment samples were collected at 14 sites in highway roadside during 6 years. The total concentrations of metals including Zn, Ni, Cu. Pb, Cr, Cd, and As in those samples were investigated. The results indicate that concentrations of Zn, Ni, and Cu in highway roadside soils are much higher than the metal concentrations in background soils and appear to be increased gradually. Strong linear relationships between the cumulative traffic and the contents of the metals in highway roadside soils were obtained. Therefore, they might be used to predict the heavy metal concentrations in the future highway roadside soils for establishing the countermeasure of soil and sediment contamination.
A Study on the Factors of Design Innovation in Daejeon-Chungcheong Region.

This paper focused on fading out the factors of design innovation. Based on the previous studies, several factors were extracted to be tested by Delphi method among 15 experts in the design area. Delphi test showed a convergent result after the second round of questioning. Design mind of managers was conceived as the most important factor among those tested. On the base of importance, capability of design company was the second and industrial design demand was the third. Even though design manpower, design infrastructure and innovation network were ranked below the 4th factors, the absolute differences between high ranked factors and low ranked ones were not much wide. So. relatively low ranked factors were not negligible at all to get a desirable success in design innovation. This study provides some insights for the success of design innovation. First of all, design innovation could be achieved only when factors tested on this study upgraded simultaneously together. Desirable effect could not expected by a simple support such as logo design or kind of simple measure.
An Empirical Study on the KREN's Performance and Anticipated Effectiveness

KREN(Korean Education Network), supported by government fur 20 years, had been operated and connected to many educational institutions from elementary schools to universities. From 2001, This network has been operated by a commercial network consignment organization and started to offer superb infrastructures to access various educational information conveniently. This network contributes development of Korean Information technology and promotes solidarity among educational institutions as well. Despite this achievement, KREN's effectiveness is not well recognized. Therefore, performance analysis study was carried out on KREN's achievement to verify its effectiveness, this study was to justify government's continuous support and also to find effective. This study was to justify government's continuous support and also to find effective ways of operations and maintenance fur the next step of KREN. Over 100 organizations were surveyed for performance analysis and we analyzed its results and anticipated effectiveness in this study. Cost, contribution, quality and performance were examined fur satisfaction analysis and each institution's number of students, network experiences were used as independent variables fer regression analysis to figure out effectiveness of the network. This study's result provides much information for further research which will help in the development of educational policies and maximizing KREN's effectiveness.
Verifying a Method of Qualitatizing Qualitative Factors of BSC

For a more convenient deduction of the weighted values in AHP of BSC using a spread sheet program, this study derived each weighted values through single and group calculations and it also compared the two calculations to verify mutual identities. Pairwise comparison is generally used in measuring performance of corporations or government organizations, but, many researches have been done without reliability verification due to difficulty in the deduction of weighted value. This trend, like using a wrong measurement, result in defective result of BSC. Therefore, this study presents various methods of single and group case measurement using spread sheet so that it can be utilized in practice. Thus, I expect this study's result be availed in BSC consulting or research of public organizations that have difficulty in measuring qualitative factors.
