A Study on the Perceptions Toward the Elderly of the Elementary School Children in Incheon Area According to the Related Variables

This study investigated the perceptions toward the elderly of elementary school children in Incheon area. The subject of this study were 264 elementary school children in grade 2, 4, 6 and their mothers. Instruments included the inventory of the perceptions toward the elderly. The main results obtained from this study were as follows The degree of children's perceptions toward the elderly differed according to children's sex, age, birth order, mother and father's education, income of the family, religion and the attitudes of parents toward the elderly. Also the degree of children's perceptions toward the elderly differed according to whether grand parents are alive or not, whether they live together in the same household or not, the age of grand parents, their financial ability, health of grand parents.

A study on the Development of Grape Vinegar Added Drink Grape Vinegar

To develop the processing methods of grape and increase the use of poor fruits, we researched the health drink made with them after making grape juice and vinegar. The grape heated at
during 30min was followed by filtration. Grape vinegar was prepared by alcohol and acetic acid fermentation of grape. Optimum initial alcohol concentration for acetic acid fermentation was 6-8%. Acetic acid fermentation of grape vinegar manufactured in onggi took 9 days and was faster than any other type of utensil. As the result of analysis of grape vinegar fermented in the various ratio of 'Campbell Early' and 'Kyoho' grape, the redness and total anthocyanin content and the score of sensory evaluation were higher in vinegar made with 100% 'Campbell Early'. The drink manufactured by adding grape vinegar was developed and adding 10% of grape vinegar to volume of grape juice and water mixture(1:1) was best in sensory evaluation. Smoking Status and Dietary Habit of High School Students in Kyunggi Area

There are many concerns about the smoking among adolescents. Smoking status, smoking habit and dietary habit of high school students were studied using anonymous questionnaires. One hundred fifteen of 380 students(30.3%) have experienced smoking and 58.3% of them initiated it in the middle school, mostly because of the curiosity. The most plausible reasons for smoking were for stress reduction and feel bored. The students who smoked cigarettes were not likely to eat properly and their dietary habits were generally inadequate. The smoking group had less consideration of food balance, more skipping breakfast, more irregular meal time, less snack, and less frequent intake of vegetables. Also one-day dietary records obtained from 24hr recall showed less diverse food intake in smoking students. Considering the risk of poor eating behavior in smoking, nutritional care should be taken to emphasize as well as the smoking prevention and health programs, and more attention needs to be given to the relationship between smoking and the attitude and the behavior of smoking students toward their health, including proper eating habits. Since the results revealed that the majority of smoking students had previously attempted or thought about quitting to smoke, proper support programs that are more comprehensive and not temporal need to be developed.
An Analysis of Time Use of Adults and Influencing Factors on It;-Paid Work, House Work, Child Caring, Leisure-

The purposes of this study were to explore amount of time use for paid work house work, child caring and leisure spent by adults and to explain its influencing factors. Tobit model was used to analyze the factors of time use because the amount of time use was a limited continuous variable. The results of this study were as follows: 1) Amount of time spent for paid work per day by adults was found to be 349 min. for men and 185 min. for women. Amount of time spent for house work was found to be 19min. for men and 155 min. for women. Amount of time spent for child caring was found to be 5min. for men and 40 min. for women. Amount of time spent for leisure was found to be 285 min. for men and 266 min. for women. 2) Time use for paid work was found to be significantly influenced by householder, age, time limit and paid worker for men and householder, time limit and paid worker for women. Time use for house work was found to be significantly influenced by age, time limit and paid worker for men and householder, age, marital status and paid worker for women. Time use for child caring was found to be significantly influenced by presence of kids and marital status for men and house, presence of kids, marital status and paid worker for women. Finally, Time use for leisure was found to be significantly influenced by car, time limit and paid worker for men and house, presence of kids, marital status, time limit and paid worker for women.
Perception of Body Image, Eating Disorder, Eating Behaviors and Subjective Health Status of Female High School and College Students in Daegu Area

This study was conducted to investigate the relationship among body image Perception, eating behavior and health status in young females. The survey was carried out by self-questionnaires for 293 female high school students(HS) and 164 female college students(CS) living in Daegu and suburbs of Daegu. For the perception of body image, 9-grade body figure drawings were used based on average Korean body size. EAT-26 and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale were used to measure the tendency of eating disorder and self-esteem. It appeared that 40.5% of the subjects were off the normal range of body weight; especially 34.2% of the subject were underweight. The subjects' perception about current body image was within normal range. Almost of all the subjects believed that the ideal body image was thinner than their own current body image, and they wanted to be thinner than their current body image. The change of eating behaviors related to weight control of CS was significantly higher than that of HS students. EAT-26 score, self-esteem score, and subjective health status score were no difference between groups. The cut-off point of the eating disorder in this study was equal to or greater than 20 in EAT-26 score. The rates of the eating disorder were very high as 9.6% of HS and 8.5% of CS. Eating disorder was positively correlated with BMI, current body image, dissatisfaction of body image and the change score of eating behavior. But eating disorder was negatively correlated with health status. From the results of this study, we suggested that one of causes related to the eating disorder behaviors in adolescent females was resulted from misperception about ideal body image. There is a great need to provide nutrition educations concerning appropriate perception of body image and weight control among adolescent females.
