Phylogenetic study of Korean Geranium(Geraniaceae) based on nrDNA ITS squences

Phylogenetic analyses were conducted to evaluate evolution and relationship of 16 taxa of Korean Geranium including 3 outgroups using ITS (internal transcribed spacer) squences of nuclear ribosomal DNA. Phylogenetic studies used most parsimony and neighbor-joining methods including bootstrapping and jackknifing analysis. As the result, Korean Geranium forms monophyletic group. In the parsimony tree G. koraiense var. hallasanense situated as the most basal clade and Erianthum group forms one clade by high bootstrap ans jackknife values (100% of bootstrap and jackknife values). G.dahuricum as one of the Krameri group is closely related with Palustre group by very weak relationship (37% of bootstrap and 44% of jackknife values) and the node collapse in the strict tree. G. Knuthii whick was one of wilfordii group is closely related with Koreanum group . G. sibiricum, one of Sibiricum group, is the most closest relationshipwith G. soboliferum and these species are sister to G. krameri. G. tripartitum and G. wilfordii which are wilfordii group are linked to G, nepalense, G, thunbergii f. pallidum and G. thunbergii. This result suggested that the phylogenetic analysis of ITS sequences should be useful to address phylogenetic questions on the genus Korean Geranium.
Taxonomy and distribution of Habenaria in Korea

A taxomic study of Habenaria in Korea was carried out based on the extensive examinations of floral morphologies and distribution. As the results, we classified the genus in Korea into the following 5 species; H. linearifolia Maxim., H. cruciformis Ohwi, H. radiata Spreng., H. chejuensis Y.N. Lee & K.S. Lee and H. flagellifera Makino. H. cruciformis is recognized as a distinct species distinguished from H. linearifolia, H. sagittifera Rchb. f. and H. schindleri Schltr., and we clarified its morphological differences from the species. H. linearifolia for. integrilova Ohwi which has been seperated by shape of lateral lobe of lip was merged into f, linearifolia oin this study. Furthermore we invesigated the distribution of Habenaria in Korea based on the herbarium specimens and field surveys. The result shows that H. radiata is rare in the middle part of the Korean Peninsula and H. chejuensis and H. flagellifera are restricted in Jeju Island, so the conservation on the habitats of these species is required.
Lectotypification and identity of Thymus quinquecostatus var. magnus(Nakai) Kitam. (Labiatae)

Thymus quinquecostatus var. magnus(Nakai) Kitam., an endemic taxon in Uleung Island, is lectotypified. The lectotype is designated based on careful examination of the original materials (deposited in TI) cited in the protologue of the variety. In addition, taxonomic identity of T. quinquecostatus var. japonicus H. Hara, a problematic name often mistakenly referred to the above taxon, was throughly reexamined.
Corydalis misandra B.U.Oh: A new species of Corydalis sect. Corydalis (Fumariaceae) from Korea

A new species of Corydalis sect. Corudalis (Fumariaceae), C. misandra B.U.Oh, is described from the peovinces of Gyonggi-do and Gangwon-do in Korea. The new species is distint from its close relative C. namdoensis in gaving elliptic or linear leaflet shape, entire or slightly dentate bract apex, broad and rhomboidal lower out petal, 14 papillate stigma, oblong stamen and linear capsule with one rowed seeds, etc.
Unrecorded naturalized species: Papaver setigerium DC. (Papaveraceae) and Veronica serpyllifolia L. (Scrophulariaceae)

Two naturalized allien species are reported from Jeju Island: Papaver setigerium collected from the ground along the road in lowland Veronica serpyllifolia collected from the roadside and ranches on alt. 400-800 m. P. setigerium is similar to P. somniferum, but different from the latter by plant height of 30-70 cm, shorter discoid stigma than fruit in diameter, somewhat sparsely bristly on stems, leaves and calyxes. V. serpyllifolia is similar to V. tenella in morphology, but different from the latter by short plant height, petiolated leaves on lower stem and serrated leaf margins.

제주도에서 한국 미기록과인 빌레나무과 (Maesaceae)의 빌레나무 (Maesa japonica)와 십자화과의 꼬마냉이 (Cardamine tanakae)가 채집되었다. 빌레나무과는 Maesa, 1속으로 구성된 과로서 소화경에 한 쌍의 소포엽이 있으며, 가웅예가 없고, 준자방하위이며, 다수의 종자를 갖는 폐과인 점 등으로 자금우과와 앵초과 식물과 구별된다. 빌레나무는 엽신, 화관 및 소포엽의 형태, 엽연부의 거치의 유무, 화통과 화관열편의 길이의 비율, 과실 표면의 특성 및 색깔에 의해 각각 중국, 대만 및 일본에 분포하는 M. salicifolia와 M. montana var. formosana와 뚜렷하게 구별되었다. 꼬마냉이는 경생엽의 소엽 수 및 정소엽의 크기, 한 화서에 붙는 꽃의 수, 자방 및 열매의 백색 연모의 유무의 특징에 의해 국내 고유종인 벌깨냉이 (C. glechomifolia)와 명백히 구분되었다.
