Cha, Youn-Sook ; Hwang, Seong-Woon ; Hong, Soon-Goo ;
Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 10, issue 2, 2005, Pages 1~12
The objective of this study is to develop an IS curriculum and its action plan for footwear industry based on the Instructional System Design(ISD) that is widely used in curriculum developments. To this end, six steps, including a goal setting, analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation are employed. Firstly, the explicit goal of IS curriculum development is defined and demands of IS education from the footwear companies are identified with questionnaires and interviews. In the design stage, the IS curriculum map is presented. With this map, the specific IT courses are established, classified by a type of industry, a function, and a level of skills. For the implementations, such particular actions as a selection of textbooks, places, managing trainees, and a training support plan are explained. Finally, the various evaluation methods are presented. The suggested IS curriculum can be applied to IS educations for the footwear companies and other related industries.
An Efficient Multi-Hop Cluster Routing Protocol in Mobile Ad Hoc Network
Kim Si-Gwan ;
Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 10, issue 2, 2005, Pages 13~20
An ad hoc wireless networks forms temporary network without the aid of fixed networks or centralized administration with a collection of wireless mobile hosts. In this case, it is necessary for one mobile host to enlist the aid of other hosts in forwarding a packet to its destination. This paper presents an efficient cluster-based routing protocol scheme for ad hoc networks. The cluster is used for path setup and data delivery. Our cluster-based routing algorithm is designed for the improvement of the load balance. Our simulation results show the improved performance for low mobility networks comparing with the previous works.
Performance of Excessive Mental-workload under Limited Reaction Time

Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 10, issue 2, 2005, Pages 21~25
Human performance of system control under excessive mental-workload may differ from stable situation. In this study, design guidelines of secondary control system were introduced to enhance performance of safety control system. Under urgent situation, the first performance criterion is not a reaction time but safe control reaction that prevents system disaster. Therefore it is important to find out the facts that are mainly related system safety. Experimental results show performance of primary task didn't reflect whole system influence within a limited short reaction time. In this situation, the secondary task is more sensitive to system influence that varied with some factors of urgent status. Therefore, when a system proceeds to abnormal and unsafe status, and even more the reaction time is limited within a very short time to control the system, the estimation of human performance is more sensitive using secondary task performance then primary task performance. Those results mean it is required to develop various secondary tasks to design safety control systems preventing disaster, And also require many studies of estimation methods human performances especially when system status varies dangerous and/or unsafe situation.
Document Summarization Method using Complete Graph

Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 10, issue 2, 2005, Pages 26~31
In this paper, we present the document summarizers which are simpler and more condense than the existing ones generally used in the web search engines. This method is a statistic-based summarization method using the concept of the complete graph. We suppose that each sentence as a vertex and the similarity between two sentences as a link of the graph. We compare this summarizer with those of Clustering and MMR techniques which are well-known as the good summarization methods. For the comparison, we use FScore using the summarization results generated by human subjects. Our experimental results verify the accuracy of this method, being about
better than the others.

Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 10, issue 2, 2005, Pages 48~58
This paper studied the impact of CIO leadership on the IS performance. The survey was developed to measure the relationship between CIO leadership style and the IS performance. The study shows that the differences in CIO leadership style along the two dimensions of goals and modes do not cause a statistically meaningful difference in business efficiency, one of the IS performance. Contrary to the existing studies that suggest a balanced leadership is effective, this study illustrates that strategic leadership and enabling leadership are more effective in the aspects of targets and manners respectively. This study does contribute to the introduction and utilization of CIO: unlike existing studies on leadership, it proposes a new approach to classifying leadership style based on the styles exhibited by CIO's flexibly from one situation to another. It will provide companies considering appointing CIO's or already using CIO's with insights into effective CIO role. It is important to provide CIOs with position and authority to exhibit their leadership flexibly.
New Password based Remote User Authentication Protocols using Smartcards
Jeon Il-Soo ;
Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 10, issue 2, 2005, Pages 59~66
Recently, Ku and Chen(Ku-Chen) showed some problems in the password based remote user authentication scheme using smartcards proposed by Chien et al. and proposed an improvement from it. This paper shows some weaknesses in the Ku-Chen's scheme, especially the replay attacks, and proposes two authentication protocols to solve the problems in it. First of all, an authentication protocol using synchronized timestamps is proposed to solve the problem in the Ku-Chen's protocol. Then, a nonce-based authentication protocol is proposed to solve the inherent problems in the synchronized timestamp-based authentication protocols. The proposed authentication protocols support the advantages in the previous password-based authentication protocols and solve the problems in them effectively.

Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 10, issue 2, 2005, Pages 76~81
This research approached electrical characteristics of organic light emitting diodes getting into the spotlight by next generation display device. Basic mechanism of OLED's emitting is known as that electron by cathode of lower work function and hole by anode of higher work function are driven and recombine exciton-state being flowed in emitting material layer passing carrier transport layer In order to make many electron-hole pairs, we must manufacture device in multi-layer structure. There are Carrier Injection Layer(CIL), Carrier Transport Layer(CTL) and Emitting Material Layer(EML) in multi-layer structure. It is important that regulate thickness of layer for high luminescence efficiency and set mobility of hole and electron.

Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 10, issue 2, 2005, Pages 102~108
CIELAB coordinate is represented by one lightness component and two chromaticity components and similar to human visual system. Visual devices such as computer monitor display images using RGB coordinate. We propose a technique for inserting the watermark of visually recognizable mark into the middle frequency domain of image. RGB coordinate image is transformed into CIELAB coordinate, which include the characteristics of Human vision and then a* component is transformed into DFT(Discrete Fourier transform) transform.
