The Industrial and Customer Characteristics Influencing on the CRM Effects

Upon the intensive competition, companies try to hold their current customers by investing more money and efforts on CRM activities. They provide various benefits for their customer to keep them and increase their loyalty. However many companies want to know how effective their CRM activities are. In this paper, we investigate the effectiveness of companies' different CRM activities on customer perception of different benefits as well as their loyalty. For this we categorize the benefits that companies provide for their customer into four different types of customer benefits such as social customer benefits, psychological customer benefits, economic customer benefits and customization benefits. We examine the effects of different customer benefits and how different the customer benefits vary depending on the types of industries and even on the involvement level, relationship types, and customer's acceptance level of risks. We found that the CRM activities had, in general, a positive effect on customers' perception and loyalty. However, companies had better selectively concentrate their CRM activities on the most effective ones considering the involvement level, relationship types, and customer's acceptance level of risks along with the industry where they belong.
An Implementation Method of the Character Recognizer for the Sorting Rate Improvement of an Automatic Postal Envelope Sorting Machine

The recognition of postal address images is indispensable for the automatic sorting of postal envelopes. The process of the address image recognition is composed of three steps-address image preprocessing, character recognition, address interpretation. The extracted character images from the preprocessing step are forwarded to the character recognition step, in which multiple candidate characters with reliability scores are obtained for each character image extracted. aracters with reliability scores are obtained for each character image extracted. Utilizing those character candidates with scores, we obtain the final valid address for the input envelope image through the address interpretation step. The envelope sorting rate depends on the performance of all three steps, among which character recognition step could be said to be very important. The good character recognizer would be the one which could produce valid candidates with very reliable scores to help the address interpretation step go easy. In this paper, we propose the method of generating character candidates with reliable recognition scores. We utilize the existing MLP(multilayered perceptrons) neural network of the address recognition system in the current automatic postal envelope sorters, as the classifier for the each image from the preprocessing step. The MLP is well known to be one of the best classifiers in terms of processing speed and recognition rate. The false alarm problem, however, might be occurred in recognition results, which made the address interpretation hard. To make address interpretation easy and improve the envelope sorting rate, we propose promising methods to reestimate the recognition score (confidence) of the existing MLP classifier: the generation method of the statistical recognition properties of the classifier and the method of the combination of the MLP and the subspace classifier which roles as a reestimator of the confidence. To confirm the superiority of the proposed method, we have used the character images of the real postal envelopes from the sorters in the post office. The experimental results show that the proposed method produces high reliability in terms of error and rejection for individual characters and non-characters.
Automatic term-network construction for Oral Documents

An automatic term-network construction system is proposed in this paper. This system uses the statistical values of the terms appeared in a document corpus. The 186 oral history documents collected from the Saemangeum area of Chollapuk-do, Korea, are used for the research. The term relationships presented in the term-network are decided by the cosine similarities of the term vectors. The number of the terms extracted from the documents is about 1700. The system is able to show the term relationships from the term-network as quickly as like a real-time system. The way of this term-network construction is expected as one of the methods to construct the ontology system and to support the semantic retrieval system in the near future.
Design and Implementation of Low-Power Object-based IP Storage for Mobile Devices using WLAN Power Control

A mobile device accesses large-sized data in object-based IP storage as an object unit over IP network. It relies heavily on a WLAN device, which has been known as one of the major power consumers. This paper designs and implements low-power object-based IP storage for mobile devices using an efficient WLAN power control. The proposed WLAN power control exploits prefetch buffer to maximize the idleness for incoming network traffic and controls available WLAN power modes to minimize the power consumption. Our experimental results reveal that the proposed WLAN control can save the total power consumption in a PXA270-based mobile device about 9% while playing the multimedia contents through an object-based IP storage device
An Exploratory Study on Classification Schemes for Building Order Review/Release DSS

To make most out of Order Review/Release(ORR) models, they are to be analyzed and classified according to their prospective users' requirements. To this end, we discuss ORR functions and so-called "ORR paradox", and propose an ORR model classification scheme named "COMPACT(COMplexity-imPACT) Matrix". Under the scheme, the complexity and impact levels of each ORR model are rated one after another in order to position it across the matrix. We explore the process and present the results, insisting that a DSS should suggest ORR models to its users on the complexity-impact basis.
The SAFE Management System Model Based on Context Automatic Awareness

Aiming at solving the problems associated with existing wireless paging systems, this paper proposed a 4W1H+L+PI concept to context-aware information structure, based on which, a new wireless paging system named 119 system is developed under ubiquitous environment. Bemuse of the adoption of RFID tags in the wireless paging system, hazard and malfunction rates are reduced, thus accuracy is guaranteed. Besides, response time is shortened comparing with existing systems. In the future, if emergency aid information system can be implemented under the ubiquitous computing environment combined with sensor network, then aid service of good quality will be provided.
A Study on the Relation of Top-N Recommendation and the Rank Fitting of Prediction Value through a Improved Collaborative Filtering Algorithm

This study devotes to compare the accuracy of Top-N recommendations of items transacted on the web site for customers with the accuracy of rank conformity of the real ratings with estimated ratings for customers preference about items generated from two types of collaborative filtering algorithms. One is Neighborhood Based Collaborative Filtering Algorithm(NBCFA) and the other is Correspondence Mean Algorithm(CMA). The result of this study shows the accuracy of Top-N recommendations and the rank conformity of real ratings with estimated ratings generated by CMA are better than that of NBCFA. It would be expected that the customer's satisfaction in Recommender System is more improved by using the prediction result from CMA than NBCFA, and then Using CMA in collaborative filtering recommender system is more efficient than using NBCFA.
Design of Postal Address File for Address Interpretation and Retrieval

In order to automate the process of mail sorting by delivery sequence, it is necessary to prepare a postal address database and to interpret written addresses on the mail-pieces with the database and OCR technology. The address database is a critical factor of automation and informatization of postal service since it could be used not only in address recognition but also in various mail processing. In this study, we design the schema of postal address database, design the postal address file based on it and explain the method of address interpretation and retrieval using it. We analyze infonnation requirements for transformation of postal address into the standardized format and consider them in the process of design. The postal address file can be used by address matching or retrieval system as well as by Hangul address recognition system for automation of delivery sequence mail-sorting.
The Development of a Shortest Route Search Demonstration System for the Home Delivery Using Ant Algorithm : Limiting to Yangyang Province

The amount of home deliveries are increasing day by day owing to the increment of the on-line market. This environment brings along generating many delivery companies and keen competition with each other in its customer hold Therefore, this study aims at the development of a shortest delivery route search demonstration system using Ant Algorithm. The developed system reduces the time consumption significantly in search of delivery path and time of the products for the novice delivery driver as well as experienced driver. Ultimately, the developed system will give the customer reliability and satisfaction, knowing a delivery route in advance.
The effects of computer self-efficacy, self-regulated learning strategy, and LMS quality on e-learner's satisfaction

According to the 2004 Sloan Consortium Report, distance education is the fastest growing sector of higher education. This study suggests a research model, based on an e-Learning success model, the relationship of the e-learner's self-regulated learning strategy, computer self-efficacy, and system quality perception of the e-Learning environment. As a result, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and service quality effect on e-learner's satisfaction. In addition to, self-regulated learning strategy based on computer self-efficacy is also important variable regarding e-learner's satisfaction.
Analysis of a Queueing Model with Time Phased Arrivals

A single-server queueing model with infinite buffer and batch arrival of customers is considered. In contrast to the standard batch arrival when a whole batch arrives into the system at one epoch, we assume that the customers of an accepted batch arrive one-by one in exponentially distributed times. Service time is exponentially distributed. Flow of batches is the stationary Poisson arrival process. Batch size distribution is geometric. The number of batches, which can be admitted into the system simultaneously, is subject of control. Analysis of the joint distribution of the number batches and customers in the system and sojourn time distribution is implemented by means of the matrix technique and method of catastrophes. Effect of control on the main performance measures of the system is demonstrated numerically.
A Subminiature Antenna for Bluetooth Applications

In this paper, a miniaturized PCB-integrated antenna is proposed for bluetooth applications. The proposed antenna is a modified form of the printed inverted F antenna where the size reduction is achieved by employing the meander strip for the resonant length part of the radiator. The antenna dimension is optimized using the commercial electromagnetic software MWSTM. The designed antenna is fabricated by the standard photo-etching technique and its performance is measured. The fabricated antenna shows a bandwidth of 125MHz centered at 2.45GHz and a gail of -0.23dBi. The size of the proposed antenna is
corresponding to the 55 percent of the area of the existing printed inverted F antenna.
On Stability for Design of Repetitive Controllers in Frequency Domain

This paper presents a method to design a repetitive controller that is specified in the specified trajectory for the repetitive works. With the single-model design approach, the controller is derived by minimizing a frequency-domain based cost function that produces monotonic convergence of the tracking error as a function of repetition number. Numerical illustrations show how the proposed single-model design method produces a repetitive controller in a single nominal model of the system.

Text-mining Techniques for Metabolic Pathway Reconstruction

Metabolic pathway is a series of chemical reactions occuning within a cell and can be used for drug development and understanding of life phenomenon. Many biologists are trying to extract metabolic pathway information from huge literatures for their metabolic-circuit regulation study. We propose a text-mining technique based on the keyword and pattern. Proposed technique utilizes a web robot to collect huge papers and stores them into a local database. We use gene ontology to increase compound recognition rate and NCBI Tokenizer library to recognize useful information without compound destruction. Furthermore, we obtain useful sentence patterns representing metabolic pathway from papers and KEGG database. We have extracted 66 patterns in 20,000 documents for Glycosphingolipid species from KEGG, a representative metabolic database. We verify our system for nineteen compounds in Glycosphingolipid species. The result shows that the recall is 95.1%, the precision 96.3%, and the processing time 15 seconds. Proposed text mining system is expected to be used for metabolic pathway reconstruction.
Development of an Integrated Optic Transmitter/Deceiver based on Ring-type WDM PON

This paper develops an integrated optic transmitter/receiver based on ring-type WDM PON. The optic transmitter/receiver can transmit real-time images from the CCTV of a remote street without compression and transmit TCP/IP data using an optic fiber. This system can also perform remote controls of the CCTV camera. The developed optic transmitter/receiver can provide the monitoring service of an advanced image quality of remote traffic using a broadband technology.
An Evaluation Methodology for Selection of IT Outsourcing Service Vendors

Many organizations have been outsourcing not only simple tasks but Information Systems and business processes rapidly. IT outsourcing is considered as a critical strategy of businesses these days. Anyhow, many companies still have IT solution problems even though they have been outsourcing their IT department or functions. Moreover, many companies have difficulties when it comes to the selection a proper IT outsourcing service vendor. This study focused on evaluation methodology for small and medium sized organizational selection of IT outsourcing provider. This study's results is a presentation of an evaluation methodology using the AHP weighted value of the factors and the factors' variables. Small and medium sized organizational managers can refer to this study's result as an evaluation index and methodology at the beginning of their IT outsourcing project or for changing their vendors.
Fast Eye-Detection Algorithm for Embedded System

In this paper, we propose the eye detection algorithms which can apply to the Real-Time Embedded systems. To detect the eye region, the feature vectors are obtained at the first step and then, PCA(Principal Component Analysis) and amplitude projection method is applied to composite the feature vectors. In the decision state, the estimated probability density functions (PDFs) are applied by the proposed Bayesian method to detect eye region in an image from the CCD camera. The simulation results show that our proposed method has a good detection rate on the frontal face and this can be applied to the embedded system because of its small amount of the mathematical complexity.
The Effect of Logistics Service Quality by the Role of Carriers on Long Term Orientation In Buyer-Supplier Partnership

This paper investigated the role of transportation in increasing logistics service quality and effect of logistics service quality on the long term orientation of the supply chain partnership. Four primary dimensions were identified through a comprehensive literature review. The common dimensions included information sharing, the sharing of risks and rewards, cooperative continuous improvements on cost reductions and increased quality. The results of the data analysis indicated that transportation were perceived to play an important role in logistics service quality that effecting on the long term orientation. This provides useful insight for making further conclusions concerning the actual roles of transportation within partnerships.
