Retargetable Adapter Design for the Virtual Machine Porting

In this paper, We have defined an effectual way to adapt the virtual machine into an embedded system and mobile device platform using retargetable technology. For this technology, We classified platform dependent character, and platform independent character, then designed, and implemented the adapter by adopting platform dependent character to retargetable technology, which allows to express in a formal method.
Integrated editing system for 3D stereoscopic contents production

Recently, it has shown an increased interest in 3D stereoscopic contents due to the development of the digital image media. Therefore, many techniques in 3D stereoscopic image generation have being researched and developed. However, it is difficult to generate high immersion and natural 3D stereoscopic contents, because the lack of 3D geometric information imposes restrictions in 2D image. In addition, control of the camera interval and rendering of the both eyes must be repetitively accomplished for the stereo effect being high. Therefore, we propose integrated editing system for 3D stereoscopic contents production using a variety of images. Then we generate 3D model from projective geometric information in single 2D image using image-based modeling method. And we offer real-time interactive 3D stereoscopic preview function for determining high immersion 3D stereo view. And then we generate intuitively 3D stereoscopic contents of high-quality through a stereoscopic LCD monitor and a polarizing filter glasses.
Development of vision system for the character recognition of the billet image

This paper describes the developed results of vision system for the recognition of material management characters, which was included in the billet image. The material management characters, which was marked at the surface of billet, should be recognized before billet moves to the next process. Our vision system for the character recognition includes that CCD camera system which acquire billet image, optical transmission system which transmit captured image to the long distance, input and output system for the interface with existing system and software for the character recognition. We have installed our vision system at the wire rod line of steel & iron plant and tested. Also, we have performed inspection of durability, reliability and recognition rate. Through the testing, we have confirmed that our system have high recognition rate, 98.6%.
An Algorithm for Detecting Residual Quantity of Ringer's Solution for Automatic Replacement

Recently, ere are many researches to improve the quality of e medical service such as Point of care (POC). To improve the quality of the medical service, not only good medical device but also more man power is required. Especially, the number of nurses are very few in Korea that is almost the lowest rank compared to OECD countries. If the simple repetition works of the nurse could be removed, it is possible to use the skillful nurse for other works and provide better quality services. There are many simple repetition works which the nurses have to do, such as replacing the ringer's solution. To replace the ringer's solution automatically, it is necessary to detect residual quantity of the ringer's solution. In this paper, image processing is used to detect the residual quantity of ringer's solution, and modified self quotient image (SQI) algorithm is used to strong background lights. After modified SQI algorithm, the simple histogram accumulation is done to find the residual quantity of the ringer's solution. The implemented algorithm could be use to replace the ringer's solution automatically or alarm to the nurses to replace the solution.
Annotation System using Spatial Augmented Reality Display with Half-slivered Mirror

This paper proposes a half-silvered mirror display system designed to demonstrate useful information about things on display into the air. It helps the spectators gain quick access to information near the area where the things are put on display. This paper deals with three matters: First, tracking based on camera images created in real time enables the provision of information about the things that are both still and moving. Second, as information is output based on the real-time coordinates of things on display, the parallel processing-based tracking algorithm is used to ensure smooth transfer. Third, a half-mirror is placed in front of the display area to establish an augmented reality system and visual distortion caused by mirror angle is adjusted by the reflection transformation matrix. The objectives of this system are to arouse the spectators' interest in things on display and offer easy and quick access to information about them.
Optimization of a Double Patching Technique for True Video-on-Demand Services

Double Patching is a multicasting technique for a VoD system which has been proposed to provide a true VoD service by making clients share a long patching stream as well as a regular stream For subsequent short patching streams, the technique always makes the long patching stream have extra data that will be played back during a double period of a patching window. In this paper, we propose a technique, using the start time of the latest short patching stream, optimizes Double Patching by deleting the useless data included in the long patching stream when the patching window of the long patching stream closes. The mean requirement for the server's bandwidth to provide the true VoD service is used as a performance metric, and the effect of the request inter-arrival time, the size of the client's local buffer and the video length on the mean bandwidth requirement is evaluated. Performance evaluation result shows that the proposed technique optimizes Double Patching in all cases.
An Adaptive Block Matching Motion Estimation Method Using Optical Flow

In this paper, we present an adaptive block matching motion estimation using optical flow. In the proposed algorithm, we calculate the temporal and spatial gradient value for each pixel value from tile differential filter, and estimate the optical flow which is used to decide the location and the size of the search region from the gradient values by least square optical flow algorithm. In particular, the proposed algorithm showed a excellent performance with fast and complex motion sequences. From the computer simulation for various motion characteristic sequences. The proposed algorithm shows a significant enhancement of PSNR over previous blocking matching algorithms.
A Proposal of Secure Route Discovery Protocol for Ad Hoc Network using Symmetric Key Cryptography

Because ad hoc network is vulnerable to attacks such as routing disruption and resource consumption, it is in need of routing protocol security. In this paper, we propose an efficient and secure route discovery protocol for ad hoc network using symmetric key cryptography. This protocol has small computation loads at each hop using symmetric key cryptography. In the Route Reply, encryption/decrytion are used to guard against active attackers disguising a hop on the network.
A Study on Measurement of TFP and Determinant factor

This paper estimates the TFP in IT manufacturing (total factor productivity) by employment size of establishment and analyses the determinants of it. And the panel data is consisted of time series and cross section data of 4 employment size of establishment over
. During the period from 1991 to 1997 TFP increased positively irrespective of the employment size of establishment, but from 1998 to 2004 TFP increase rate turned negative except large size(more than 300) of establishment. TFP assume macro variables and policy variables as the determinants of IT manufacturing TFP. The analysis of whole size of establishment shows that sales growth rate is significantly positive, which makes us conclude that there is a teaming by doing effect and economy of scale. But some variables(i.e. IT capital stock, policy financing, and openness etc.) are significant in only a few models. So there may be different effect by employment size of establishment. In TFP determinants analysis by employment size of establishment, we find that coefficients of policy financing and openness variables are significantly positive. The larger employment size of establishment is, the larger scale economy is. And for large size(more than 300) establishment, IT capital stock helps propel the increase of the productivity.
