Database Administrators (DBA) play a role in designing and maintaining database systems. It is one of the Information Technology (IT) jobs in high demand and is important in developing and maintaining Information Systems (IS). Little research has been conducted on the skill requirements for a DBA. By collecting and analyzing job ads posted on the websites of Fortune 500 companies, we investigated the skill requirements needed for today's DBA.
An Empirical Study on Production Strategy for the Competitive Advantages of Manufacturing Companies

Based on the perspective of power fundamentals and power process, this study empirically investigated the manufacturing strategy which provided competitive advantages for the manufacturing companies in Korea. To do so, this study conducted the survey to chief production officers in Incheon, Kyoungki, and other provinces, and the data was processed by using the SPSS statistical package. According to the study results, the concordance process had positive impacts on the power process and the power process had positive impacts on the organizational performance. This result can provide many implications for the manufacturing companies in Korea.
Research on Function and Policy for e-Government System using Semantic Technology

This paper aims to offer a solution based on semantic document classification to improve e-Government utilization and efficiency for people using their own information retrieval system and linguistic expression. Generally, semantic document classification method is an approach that classifies documents based on the diverse relationships between keywords in a document without fully describing hierarchial concepts between keywords. Our approach considers the deep meanings within the context of the document and radically enhances the information retrieval performance. Concept Weight Document Classification(CoWDC) method, which goes beyond using existing keyword and simple thesaurus/ontology methods by fully considering the concept hierarchy of various concepts is proposed, experimented, and evaluated. With the recognition that in order to verify the superiority of the semantic retrieval technology through test results of the CoWDC and efficiently integrate it into the e-Government, creation of a thesaurus, management of the operating system, expansion of the knowledge base and improvements in search service and accuracy at the national level were needed.
An Exploratory Study For the Social Feasibility Of the Dredging the Water-Depth of Busan Port

As the containership has been large-sized, it is important to analyze the social feasibility for the dredging the water-depth of Busan port. We tries to do an exploratory study to analyze the needs of the core port user group by using the survey methodology. We did the survey for the ocean carriers, terminal operating companies, ship pilots respectively. Collected data was analyzed by frequency and cross tabulation method. Result suggests that the Busan North Port should be dredged to the 16 meter depth and Busan New Port should be dredged to the 17 meter depth. And the priority of the depth dredging is ranked as Gamman pier, Sinsundae pier, New Port and Jasungdae pier.
Developing a Measurement Scale for Service Recovery Quality in Internet Commerce

The objective of this research is to develop a measurement instrument for service recovery quality in the Internet commerce setting. To this same end, Parasuraman et al.(2005) have devised a scale called E-RecS-QUAL, which we revised and supplemented to develop another instrument named eSR-Q. To guarantee its reliability and validity, this instrument went through the refinement and validation processes for internal consistency and construct validity in terms of convergent, discriminant, and nomological validity. Our final scale consists of four dimensions including responsiveness, compensation, contact, and apologies altogether with fourteen measures. Overall, this research deals with the related research background, the scale development and validation processes, its limitations, and future research directions.
The Strategic Decision Supports using Knowledge Transformation Process

The strategic decision makers of the firm have faced with uncertainty and complexity. Although they must make decision under these environments, they can't have enough time, man power, budget and knowledge that they need to decide. They can't, therefore, help getting supports by experts who have implicit knowledge about the domain. But it is difficult for them to find any other procedures and methods to create, transform, combine, and apply new knowledges, whenever decision makers face the problem This paper provides a new method to support a strategic decision making by using the knowledge transformation process suggested by Nonaka. We illustrate an application case of the strategic decision making in consulting industry. This paper uses cognitive map as a decision support technology based on the suggested method.
The Case Study on the Improvements of Partnership Between Large and Small/Medium-sized Companies via Six Sigma

Six sigma is a business strategy and a systematic methodology using statistically oriented approach to process and product quality improvement. Many cases have reported significant benefits from six sigma implementation. But, some organizations have been reported that six sigma methodology has not given the expected benefits. Further, small and medium sized companies have faced various barriers. The purpose of this paper is to examine the successful case study on the improvements of partnership between large and small/medium-sized companies via six sigma activities. Data were collected using in depth interviews of six sigma champion, master black belt, and black belt from one large company and five medium-sized companies in Gumi industry zone.
Voice-based messenger using NXT touch-sensor input unit and the Bluetooth wireless communication for the blind

Many people have conveniently used various messengers to talk with remote friends or to send urgent files to remote co-workers. Recently, it is also possible to use messenger with user's image. However, these messenger technologies are of no use for the blind. In order to cope with this problem, we propose voice-based messenger with a Braille system for the blind. The proposed messenger enables the blind to listen to the received sentences from remote user. It also enables them to listen to the written sentences before sending to remote user for the purpose of checking that the sentences are correctly written. The Braille system for writing sentences can be implemented by using the programmable NXT system, which contains a 32-bit ARM-7 micro-controller, with 4 touch-sensors. Finally, we apply the Bluetooth technology for wireless communication between the Braille system and the proposed messenger.
A Study on the Improvement Plan of Service Competitiveness by Process Innovation

Importance of service competitive power is greatly increasing. Domestic enterprises are recognizing the importance of service competitive power, but the correspondence is insufficient level. Because service has the characteristic that production and consumption synchronizes, it can be considered as process. In this study, we utilize the process reform by plan for service competitive power elevation. We divide service process reform by four types based upon special quality of goods(form and formlessness) and reform target (new process design and existing process improvement), and present various examples by each type. On the this basis, we suggest the specific elevation plan of competitive power.

Zigbee communication is applied in the many communication system. This paper is the system development contents which applies a zigbee communication. The system which develops from this paper is apply a zigbee communication in order system Does so, Reduced the step of orders from employee or from counter. Because of that, reduced the order number of times which goes wrong and shortened a time. Reasoning is caused by prevented an order delay at busy time. Order and payment are together controlled from inside the program which is developed. The adjust of the present state of sale does not have a necessity. Because that is stored at Database.

Development of MPEG-4 Audio Streaming Player on Mobile Terminal with Embedded Linux Processor

In this paper, we develop MPEG-4 AAC streaming player on embedded Linux processor such as mobile terminals. Moreover we show the experimental results that the player preforms the decoding processes of MPEG-4 AAC data effectively. MPEG-4 AAC technology supports a wide range encoding rates and high sound quality so it is appropriate to adopt various applications. In particular, the need in the development of the application of audio data increases according to significantly increase in devices used in mobile environments, such as cell phones and PDAs. In this environment, it is necessary to optimize the decoding processes to the ability of the terminal hardware in order to play audio data without delays. We also implement the decoding module to optimize the processor capabilities and make the player to decode and play streaming audio data from streaming server.
A Study of Status and Alternative System on Six Sigma Project Evaluation System

Most companies in Korea that are implementing six sigma programs evaluate belt's project performance based on their own evaluation systems. Financial performance is a major criterion to evaluate project performance. New project evaluation systems which are based on not only financial performance but also non-financial performance need to be presented for better performance system. The study presents the integration system of balanced scorecard and six sigma project evaluation systems to show balanced view points of performance. Each evaluation index of four view points are presented in the study and could be utilized for alternative project evaluation systems.
Recommendation System based on Tag Ontology and Machine Learning

Social Web is turning current Web into social platform for knowing people and sharing information. This paper takes major social tagging systems as examples, namely delicious, flickr and youtube, to analyze the social phenomena in the Social Web in order to identify the way of mediating and linking social data. A simple Tag Ontology (TO) is proposed to integrate different social tagging data and mediate and link with other related social metadata. Through several machine learning for tagging data, tag groups and similar user groups are extracted, and then used to learn the tagging ontology. A recommender system adopting the tag ontology is also suggested as an applying field.
Ant Algorithm Based Facility Layout Planning

Facility Layout Planning is concerned with how to arrange facilities necessary for production in a given space. Its objective is often to minimize the total sum of all material flows multiplied by the distance among facilities. FLP belongs to NP complete problem; i.e., the number of possible layout solutions increases with the increase of the number of facilities. Thus, meta heuristics such as Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Simulated Annealing have been investigated to solve the FLP problems. However, one of the biggest problems which lie in the existing meta heuristics including GA is hard to find an appropriate combinations of parameters which result in optimal solutions for the specific problem. The Ant System algorithm with elitist and ranking strategies is used to solve the FLP problem as an another good alternative. Experimental results show that the AS algorithm is able to produce the same level of solution quality with less sensitive parameters selection comparing to the ones obtained by applying other existing meta heuristic algorithms.
Design & Implementation of Thin-Client Architecture using Server Based Computing

In the field of computing service, there is a copernican revolution indebted to development of network & computer technology. Computer system, which is set to mainframe in the 1960's, is advancing torwards to the paradigm of server based computing, so-called thin-client. In thin-client computing, network is the platform which is responsible for transfer of application, so that client execute application installed on server. It is also possible that each system share the computing resource connected with network. In this parer, we suggest component & distributed computing technology as a measn for the implementation of thin-client architecture hence, make the best use of COM(Component Object Model and PYRO(PYthon Remote Objects). We talk about the concept and mechanism of thin-client at the beginning, and propose the design of network architecture for the implementation thin-client.
A Framework for Evaluating Ubiquitous Services using Fuzzy AHP

In recent years, various information technologies including ubiquitous computing technology have been developed and deployed. The more ubiquitous services based on ubiquitous technology have widely been spread, the more evaluation methods of those services are required. In this study, we suggest a framework for evaluating ubiquitous services by identifying evaluation factors and their relative importances. Combining review of related works and experts' opinions on the evaluation, we calculate the factors affecting ubiquitous service evaluation and relative importances among those factors using fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). We conduct a case study to illustrate the applicability and feasibility of the suggested framework.
A High Speed Code Dissemination Protocol for Software Update in Wireless Sensor Network

The code propagation is one of the most important technic for software update in wireless sensor networks. This paper presents a new scheme for code propagation using network coding. The proposed code propagation method roughly shows 20
25% performance improvement according to network environments in terms of the number of data exchange compared with the previously proposed pipelining scheme. As a result, we can efficiently perform the software update from the viewpoint of speed, energy, and network congestion when the proposed code propagation system is applied. In addition, the proposed system solves the overhearing problems of network coding such as the loss of original messages and decoding error using the predefined message. Therefore, our system allows a software update system to exchange reliable data in wireless sensor networks.
A Mobile IP Handover Scheme Based on Routing Costs

This paper proposes a new handover scheme to minimize handover delay and signaling costs, using the fact that a new packet forwarding path could be same or similar to the old one in Mobile IPv4. In the proposed scheme a foreign agent estimates the correlation between the new and old routing paths by using routing costs after receiving a registration request message from a mobile node. If the new packet forwarding path could be same or similar to the old one, the mobile node can receive packets from its old foreign agent without registering its new location with its home agent or correspondent node. The performance analysis shows that the proposed scheme can efficiently reduce handover delay and signaling costs.

Immoral and unethical cases are reported in newspapers and on TV everyday, and the number of serious juvenile problems such as suicide, truanting and extreme egoism has been increasing. Therefore, through this constructed counseling system, we can select some students who are at risk of causing juvenile problems such as delinquency and absenteeism. Moreover we can prevent the students from causing these problems and help the students adapt better to school circumstances.
A Study on the Effects of the Quality Factors of University Information Systems on Students' Satisfaction Level

This study is for the quality factors of University Information Systems (UIS) that affect students' satisfaction level. We used the quality factors as an independent variable, information systems' satisfaction level as a parameter variable, and students' satisfaction toward a university as a dependent variable. User characteristics, such as region, grade, major, and gender, were used to investigate to see if these demographic variables make mediating effects in the model. We also present an implication for better way to operate or build a university information systems.
