Channel Selective Relay-based Multiple-Input SC-FDMA/OFDMA Transmission System

Relay-assisted multiple input technique has become a promising candidate for next generation broadband wireless communications. In this paper, we propose channel selective relay-based multiple input transmission system. In the proposed system, single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) and orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) are adopted for uplink and downlink transmissions, respectively. The performance of relay-based system can be improved by using the subcarriers selectively based on the channel condition between relay station (RS) and mobile station, or between RS and base station. Simulation results show that the proposed relay-based system considerably outperforms the conventional relay-based system.
Modeling and Implementation of Multilingual Meta-search Service using Open APIs and Ajax

Ajax based on Java Script receives attention as an alternative to ActiveX technology. Most portal sites in korea show a tendency to reopen existing services by combining the technology, because it supports most web browsers, and has the advantages of such a brilliant interface, excellent speed, and traffic reduction through asynchronous interaction. This paper modeled and implemented a multilingual meta-search service using the Ajax and open APIs provided by international famous sites. First, a Korean query is translated into one of the language of 54 countries around the world by Google translation API, and then the translated result is used to search the information of the social web sites such as Flickr, Youtube, Daum, and Naver. Searched results are displayed fast by dynamic loading of portion of the screen using Ajax. Our system can reduce server traffic and per-packet communications charges by preventing redundant transmission of unnecessary information.
Design of Thin-Client Framework for Application Sharing & Optimization of Data Access

In this paper, we design thin-client framework capable of application sharing & data access on the Internet, and apply related skills, such as X windows system, pseudo server, CODA file system, MPI(Message Passing Interface). We suggest a framework for the thin client to access data produced by working on a server optimally as well as to run server side application, even in the case of network down. Additionally, it needed to reflect all local computing changes to remote server when network is restored. To design thin client framework with these characteristics, in this paper, we apply distributed pseudo server and CODA file system to our framework, also utilize MPI for the purpose of more efficient computing & management. It allows for implementation of network independent computing environment of thin client, also provide scalable application service to numerous user through the elimination of bottleneck on caused by server overload. In this paper, we discuss the implementing method of thin client framework in detail.
A Study of Voice Data Retransmission in LR-WPAN

In this paper, we propose a scheme for voice data retransmission in LR-WPAN to support the required QoS even in the severe channel error environments. In IEEE 802.15.4a, as the user data rate is supported up to 850Kbps, the voice streaming data can be transferred more easily. In this research, we study the beacon-enabled mode in IEEE 802.15.4 LR-WPAN standard with 250Kbps data rate. In the proposed scheme, special slots are dynamically assigned for retransmission of the packet that fails during a voice service, and in the severe channel error environments a time diversity is acquired. Analytical results show that the proposed scheme is more robust and achieves a much higher throughput than the previous protocol in LR-WPAN.
Face Image Retrieval by Using Eigenface Projection Distance

In this paper, we propose an efficient method of face retrieval by using PCA(principal component analysis) based features. The coarse-to-fine strategy is adopted to sort the retrieval results in the lower dimensional eigenface space and to rearrange candidates at high ranks in higher dimensional eigenface space. To evaluate similarity between a query face image and class reference image, we utilize the PD (projection distance), MQDF(modified quadratic distance function) and MED(minimum Euclidean distance). The experimental results show that the proposed method which rearrange the retrieval results incrementally by using projection distance is efficient for face image retrieval.
Development of Multiple-Windows Manager using virtual Screen

In this paper, we describe the problems which can happen during multi-tasking process in the Windows operating system (OS) environment. To cope with the problems, multiple-windows manager program is proposed in this paper. If we use the proposed multiple-windows manager program with three virtual screen, we can obtain the effect like using four Windows OS and thus we can improve the tardy speed and the high complexity for multi-tasking process.
A Study on the Reliability of S/W during the Developing Stage

Many software reliability growth models(SRGM) have been proposed since the software reliability issue was raised in 1972. The technology to estimate and grow the reliability of developing S/W to target value during testing phase were developed using them. Most of these propositions assumed the S/W debugging testing efforts be constant or even did not consider them. A few papers were presented as the software reliability evaluation considering the testing effort was important afterwards. The testing effort forms which have been presented by this kind of papers were exponential, Rayleigh, Weibull, or Logistic functions, and one of these 4 types was used as a testing effort function depending on the S/W developing circumstances. I propose the methology to evaluate the SRGM using least square estimater and maximum likelihood estimater for those 4 functions, and then examine parameters applying actual data adopted from real field test of developing S/W.
The computer power-saving system using DHCP

It is possible that gain good effect for saving electric charges by power-saving education to organizer, instead of buying new energy saving computer in the company, school and public organization. But this kind of education needs time very much. And power management system for controling whole computer of organizer is released, but it is hard to set up. In this paper we prevent computers which do not have power shutdown software, from obtaining IP address by DHCP. So we induce organizer to setup power shutdown software.
Software Architecture Analysis for Risk Management

Management of risks is critical issue in the project management and it is important to ensure that risk management is done in a sensible way. Risk analysis is an activity geared towards risk mitigation in risk management technique. Many techniques to manage, analyze and reduce risks have been done previously but only few have addressed the design analysis to reduce risk and none have attempted to analyze architecture to manage risks. In this paper we try to find a solution through various analyzing various software architectural design concepts. We follow Pressman's method of analyzing architecture design, and then alter it to identify risks which are used in risk analysis process further in risk management process. The risks assessed are analyzed later in the risk management cycle.
Expression method of simulation which is execution of media facade

This study's purpose is to revive pre-construction situation earlier than construction of media facade using light-emitting diode, and analyze the strong and weak points of simulation image making process and technology, including lots of expressing methods. Exterior building decoration that was originated from Super Graphic led to the LED construction with a trend of increased night activities of these days. Initial Super Graphic was just in the level of deciding what to do with simple CAD drawings, but today's media facade construction is not so simple as the previous ones. This is because of the problems that should think about balances between neighboring environment and buildings, including high construction costs. According to survey results, media facade construction simulation's various expressing methods, its processes of analysis, and its strong & weak points will suggest standards for its size of construction and simulation purpose, including recommending suggestions that can respond rapidly by clients' diverse demands.
Design and Implementation of a CMS-based Education System

In this paper, we implement the web-based education system on CMS(Contents Management System). The goal of this paper is that Everyone who uses this system will use and maintain the web site easily. All procedures can be performed on the web and all content by the manager can be applied to users. This allows both user and administrator to use the web-based education system in a better environment. This system also will try to cover all user levels by providing web standards. So more user can use the standard web service without worrying about time and space. For this reason, this system will be developed with web standard guide so that all users won't experience any problems with the browsers of primary platforms complying with W3C. This paper can provide the possibility to overcome the limitations of current web-based education system.
Design and Implementation of Web-based Retrieval System for Massive Image Contents in Green Computing Environment

As environmental issues are emerging, many efforts are globally conducted to reduce waste of energies and resources for green growth, as well as low-carbon emitting and replacement of document papers with digital files and images. On the other hand, it may require much time and efforts for users to find the proper image files on the web, where enormous un-standardized digital files are flourishing. Therefore, power and resource consumption may also grow up again in searching and retrieving files. This paper suggests efficient system design and implementation for fast and precise massive image contents retrieval for saving the energies and resources. Eventually it will contribute to green growth in computing environment.
Development of Wireless Healthcare System for Emergency Treatment

Today, the handicapped or old people require continuous care, but there are a lot of practical difficulties. In this paper, the system measuring health conditions of the handicapped or old people (pulse and temperature) is developed. If urgent health conditions occur, measurement values are delivered to doctors or close family members using SMS (Short Message Service) of cellular phone. In the developed system, Pulse rate is measured by sensing bloodstream using high luminance LED and CdS illumination sensors. Body temperature is also measured by contactless temperature sensor. Also, the measured values are transmitted to a server computer using Zigbee communications. Also, the measured values the average of measurements and the time are saved. The wireless healthcare system is designed to help the emergency for the handicapped and old people by using SMS.
Development of Remote Monitoring System for Ionizer

Ionizer is used in removal of static-electricity charge from several production processes such as flat panel display, organic EL, etc. In this paper, we introduce remote monitoring systems for ionizer which have been built to communicate with multiple ionizer and to control the power and ionizing state independently. Based on a series of tests, we verified the key functions of this controller such as unit connection, quantity of ion and electric charge, alarm, and successful communication between PC and controller. This system may be directly applicable to monitor systems for ionizer in the manufacturing processes of TFT-LCD, PDP, organic EL, and others.
Automatic analysis of golf swing from single-camera video sequences

In this paper, I propose an automatic analysis method of golf swine from single-camera video sequences. I define necessary swing features for automatic swing analysis in 2-dimensional environment and present efficient swing analysis methods using various image processing techniques including line and edge detection. The proposed method has two characteristics compared with previous swing analysis systems and related studies. First, the proposed method enables an automatic swing analysis in 2-dimension while previous systems require 3-dimensional environment which is relatively complex and expensive to run. Second, swing analysis is done automatically without human intervention while other 2-dimensional systems necessarily need analysis by a golf expert. I tested the method on 20 swing video sequences and found the proposed method works effective for automatic analysis of golf swing.
Development of Blood Pressure Measuring System using piezoelectric and photo sensor

By increasing people's average life span, interest for health is highly growing. According to hoping to check their body condition, people have a medical checkup periodically to check their condition. But, they can prevent disease or are able to make a health care through checking people's pulse or blood pressure. In this paper, two different pulse measurement systems were developed, one system using a photosensor which is able to measure transmissivity's change through blood volume and another system using a piezo-electric sensor which can measure pulse when it measures radial artery's pressure in the wrist are realized. We compared two systems each other.
A Study on Web Accessibility Evaluation

A website should be developed by considering web accessibility for being possible to access the Internet without any difficulties through the Web. In order to do this, after evaluating web accessibility with targeted 15 web sites based on KWCAG 1.0 which is a guideline of Korean type web contents accessibility and WCAG 2.0 which is a guideline of W3C's web serviceability by using KADO-WAH 2.0, this paper suggests improvements of web accessibility after deriving problems of web accessibility according to a web site type.
A Study on Customer's Satisfaction of Convergence Products

This study set out to analyze the impacts of convergence products(cell phones, PDAs, IPTV, and portable game consoles) on the consumers' purchase intention and satisfaction. These results of the research model show that usefulness, perceived risk, and communication had significant influences on purchase intention, and usefulness, innovation, perceived risk, and communication on satisfaction. But there were differences according to the product kinds. The results indicate that usefulness, convenience, perceived risk, and communication are the major factors affecting the satisfaction and purchase intention of convergence products and that innovation didn't have much influence on them. And there were small differences among the influential factors according to the kinds of convergence products.
Evaluation of Uncertainty Importance Measure by Experimental Method in Fault Tree Analysis

In a fault tree analysis, an uncertainty importance measure is often used to assess how much uncertainty of the top event probability (Q) is attributable to the uncertainty of a basic event probability (

need to be estimated analytically or by Monte Carlo simulation. However, it is very complicated to analytically compute V and
for large-sized fault trees, and difficult to estimate them in a robust manner by Monte Carlo simulation. In this paper, we propose a method for experimentally evaluating the measure using a Taguchi orthogonal array. The proposed method is very computationally efficient compared to the method based on Monte Carlo simulation, and provides a stable uncertainty importance of each basic event.
A study of the career orientations of IT workforce in Daegu-Gyeongbuk regions

The career orientations of an individual are affected by his/her career anchors that are comprised of needs, values, and capabilities. This study is intended to understand the career orientations by way of discovering the career anchors that are possessed by IT workforce in Daegu-Gyeongbuk regions. In particular, such demographic factors as gender, age, job tenure, and job title were investigated to see if these factors in fact affected the career anchors of IT workforce. To achieve this purpose, we collected questionnaires from 269 IT workers in the regions. The results of this study is expected to contribute to our understanding of the career orientations of IT workforce in the region.

This research has been studied to analyze affecting factors for the consumer's acceptance to mobile advertisement by worldwide survey into mobile users of Korea, U.S. and Japan. Based on TAM & Flow theory, our research adopts some factors for a theoretical model such as entertainment, information, irritation, credibility, flow experience, attitudes and acceptance intention. And our research collects data from common consumers & students of each countries to try comparative study with mobile users who has different scope & environment of markets. This data was analyzed based on using AMOS, the structural equation modeling and a second-generation multi variant technique, and has gained distinct advantages over other technique.
An Empirical Study of the Impact of UCC Characteristics on Flow and Intention to Use

Today, various on-line services based on the Internet have been provided, and recently UCC(user created contents) have become more popular based on web 2.0. However researches on UCC prevailing among internet users have not been performed much yet. Therefore, we have conducted an empirical study to investigate the structural relationships among UCC characteristics, perceived usefulness, flow and intention to use in this study. After reviewing the related works we have derived three latent variables - system, contents, and user characteristics - as UCC characteristics. Structural Equation Model(SEM) has been used to analyze the structural relationships among characteristics of UCC, perceived usefulness, flow and intention to use. Managerial implications are also suggested for managing the UCC services in conclusion.
A Study On The Co-survival And Collaboration Of Organization And Its Environments

The major issues of managing an organization and its environments are on how to establish a community for their co-survival and collaboration. This study is on the principles and management practices for establishing the community of organization and its environments based on the power circulatory approach, so that it contributes to creation of the social orders for co-survival and collaboration. In order to do this I discussed the theories and practices of the power circulatory approach, and then suggest their application to establishment of the co-survival community for organization and its environment. According to results the power circulatory approach offers theoretical and managerial tools which establish the co-survival community for organization and its environments, so that it increases likelihood of their co-survival and collaboration. Furthermore I discussed the position of the power circulatory approach to co-survival and collaboration in a manner that displays similarities and differences with exiting approaches such as the contingency and population ecology model.
A study on ERP implementation strategy in the public enterprise: lessons from KOGAS

In the ways of coping with the rapidly changing environment, the information technology is recognized a critical factor in order to rethink the effectiveness of business management, and enterprise resource planning(ERP) system has emerged as an essential method for strengthening the competitiveness on the strategic level. This empirical study has revealed the following. First, well-organized system management and the strong will and leadership of top management have significantly positive influence on the reduction of cost and time. Second, system management, users' participation, and the strong will and leadership of top management have significantly positive influence on the improvement of management and informational environment. It also proposes the guidelines of how to establish an ERP system successfully in the public enterprises.
An Environmental Strategy and IT Application in Service Industry: A Case Study of UPS Inc.

The shift from a product-based to a service-based economy also caused to emission of greenhouse gases including carbon dioxide and air pollution. This study investigates the environmental issues of global warming and the environment impact of greenhouse gases produced by service companies. This study proposes several environment strategies which could applied to service companies and examines the benefits and drawbacks of roles of IT to decrease greenhouse gases. This study also conducts case study for the corporate sustainability of United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS), one of the world largest logistics company.
Prediction Modeling through Quantification for Qualitative Variables

The purpose of this paper is to provide the statistical models for landslide prediction through quantification and AHP methods. Quantification method is a statistical method of providing quantity to qualitative variables by analyzing the observed data. In this paper, we suggest the quantification process based on the results of cannonical correlation analysis. In contrast with the quantification method which is based on given data the AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) technique is a kind of method based on questionaire data which is usually taken from professionals. We analyze both the real data(provided from KIGAM) and questionaire data collected from professionals of various related area. We developed two kinds of evaluation table which provide the scores of land slide possibility and the logistic model providing the probability of occurring landslide. Finally we compare the performance and evaluate the stability of the suggested two models.
A Study of e-RTGC Introduction Effects in the Container Terminal : Based on D Container Terminal Case Study

All over the world more and more attention is being paid to green management which enables environment-friendly sustainable development. To keep up with these global trends and in response to the government's "low carbon green growth" policy, many efforts are being made in the port and logistics in order to drastically reduce carbon emissions and save operating expenses. To this end, the engine power source of the cranes in the container terminal is being replaced with electricity from fossil fuel. Among those cranes, especially e-RTGC has been proved to be practical and excellent in its performance through many previous studies. However, no empirical study has yet been made on its introduction effects when e-RTGC has been introduced to the container terminal. In the meantime, however, many domestic container terminals have introduced e-RTGC, and so some data have been accumulated for further research. Under these circumstances, this study has tried to make an empirical study through the case study of D container terminal, checking the restriction factors to be considered at the time of eURTGC introduction, and analyzing its introduction effects and problems. We have high expectations that this study will provide key consideration factors and empirical analysis data to the decision makers who plan to introduce an e-RTGC system, and also will be used as a reference to the development direction of e-RTGC.
