Modified AES having same structure in encryption and decryption

Feistel and SPN are the two main structures in a block cipher. Feistel is a symmetric structure which has the same structure in encryption and decryption, but SPN is not a symmetric structure. In this paper, we propose a SPN which has a symmetric structure in encryption and decryption. The whole operations of proposed algorithm are composed of the even numbers of N rounds where the first half of them, 1 to N/2 round, applies a right function and the last half of them, (N+1)/2 to N round, employs an inverse function. And a symmetry layer is located in between the right function layer and the inverse function layer. In this paper, AES encryption and decryption function are selected for the right function and the inverse function, respectively. The symmetric layer is composed with simple matrix and round key addition. Due to the simplicity of the symmetric SPN structure in hardware implementation, the proposed modified AES is believed to construct a safe and efficient cipher in Smart Card and RFID environments where electronic chips are built in.
Small ESPAR Antenna with 180 Degree Azimuth Beam Coverage

In this papar, we have proposed a small electronically steerable parasitic array radiator with 180 degree azimuth beam coverage and high gain characteristics. The proposed antenna is composed of a uniplanar Yagi dipole as a feeding element and two dipoles as parasitic elements. The fabricated antenna is tested by electronically changing the reactance loaded on the parasitic dipoles and the results show that it has 5.2dB~6.7dB gain in
wide azimuth range and -10dB return loss characteristics within 5.725GHz~5.825GHz UNII band.
A Conceptual Design of Integrated Receiving end for Multi-Satellite Mission Data Processing

Establishment of systematic platform is needed for technological progress of receiving of satellite image data with high quality and processing system for product generation and operation related with direct receiving system for satellite from abroad. Besides, it's necessary to develop the integrated data processing system to prohibit similar functions on developing (or being developed) for KOMPSAT-3, KOMPSAT-5 and to operate system efficiently. Therefore, conceptual design of the integrated data processing system is performed considering commercialization of KOMPSAT(Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite) series based on KOMPSAT-2 IRPE on operation in this paper.
An Experimental Performance Evaluation of V2I2V-based Car Communications over WCDMA/HSDPA/WiBro Networks

This paper presents implementation details of car communications system based on V2I2V model over broadband wireless networks including WCDMA, HSDPA and WiBro. Also, we measures the major performance metrics such as Round Trip Time, end-to-end latency and others between in-vehicle client and location management system by driving across urban areas in Daegu city. Analysis of experimental results would be helpful to consider the applicability of traffic safety services using V2I2V-based car communications over various broadband wireless networks.
Design of Interactive Operations using Prefetching in VoD System

VoD(Video-on-Demand) servers have to provide timely processing guarantees for continuous media and reduce the storage and bandwidth requirements for continuous media. The compression techniques make the bit rates of compressed video data significantly variable from frame to frame. A VoD system should be able to provide the client with interactive operations such as fast forward and fast rewind in addition to normal playback of movie. However, interactive operations require additional resources such as storage space, disk bandwidth, memory and network bandwidth. In a stored video application such as VoD system, it is possible that a priori disk access patterns can be used to reserve the system resources in advance. In addition, clients of VoD server spend most of their time in playback mode and the period of time spent in interactive mode is relatively small. In this paper, I present the new buffer management scheme that provides efficient support for interactive operations in a VoD server using variable bit rate continuous media. Simulation results show that our strategy achieves 34% increase of the number of accepted clients over the LRU strategy.
Implementation of the Living Alone Elderly People Protection System using Ubiquitous Sensor Networks

Numerous researches are being made on applications based on ubiquitous sensor networks and super light, low power sensors. With the development of society, the aged population is expanding and living alone elders are one of important social issues in today's society. This paper implements the living alone elderly people protection system using ubiquitous sensor networks. By collecting and monitoring information on living alone elders using sensor nodes and sink nodes in web environment, we can perform more integrated management. The implemented living alone elderly people protection system can monitor living alone elders' situation and take actions promptly in emergency.
BPNN Algorithm with SVD Technique for Korean Document categorization

This paper proposes a Korean document. categorization algorithm using Back Propagation Neural Network(BPNN) with Singular Value Decomposition(SVD). BPNN makes a network through its learning process and classifies documents using the network. The main difficulty in the application of BPNN to document categorization is high dimensionality of the feature space of the input documents. SVD projects the original high dimensional vector into low dimensional vector, makes the important associative relationship between terms and constructs the semantic vector space. The categorization algorithm is tested and compared on HKIB-20000/HKIB-40075 Korean Text Categorization Test Collections. Experimental results show that BPNN algorithm with SVD achieves high effectiveness for Korean document categorization.
AQS: An Analytical Query System for Multi-Location Rice Evaluation Data

Rice varietal information exchange is vital for agricultural experiments and trials. With the growing size of rice data gathered around the world, and numerous research and development achievements, the effective collection and convenient ways of data dissemination is an important aspect to be dealt with. The collection of this data is continuously worked out through various international cooperation and network programs. The problem in acquiring this information anytime anywhere is the new challenge faced by rice breeders, scientist and crop information specialists, in order to perform rapid analysis and obtain significant results in rice research, thus alleviating rice production. To address these constraints, we propose an Online Analytical Query System, a web query application to provide breeders and rice scientist around the world a fast web search engine for rice varieties, giving the users the freedom to choose from which trial it has been used, trait observation parameters as well as geographical or weather conditions, and location specifications. The application uses data warehouse techniques and OLAP for summarization of agricultural trials conducted, and statistical analysis in deriving outstanding varieties used in these trials, consolidated in an Model-View-Controller Web framework.
Implementation of Automatic Detection System for CCFL's Defects based on Combined Lighting

A Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp(CCFL) is used as a LCD Monitor's backlight widely. The most common way to check CCFL's defects is an examination with the naked eye. This naked eye examination can cause an examination inconsistency and an industrial disaster. To examine CCFL defects, a shooting equipment and a defect detection algorithm are necessary. This paper shows the shooting environments for checking CCFL and presents some CCFL defect detection algorithms. As a result of experiments, our implementations showed 98.32% of successful defect detection of CCFL.
Development of Gas Sensor Modules and Sensor Calibration Systems

Sensor is a key element in various fields of applications such as sensor networks. However, they could not be easily developed because of several factors such as temperature dependence of output characteristics and/or nonlinearity. Calibration of sensor is also needed to solve these problems. Conventional calibration process required a lot of time and expenses. Therefore, it is important to develop sensor systems which can shorten development time and minimize expense. In this paper, we develop CO and
Sensor modules and propose a multiple sensor calibration system to resolve problems of conventional calibration process. A proposed system is composed of sensor module, system board and monitor program. Regression analysis method based on the least mean squares is used for calibration. We introduced the structure of calibration systems and experimental results. Calibration results can be used to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed system.
Development of a Monitoring System Based on the Cooperation of Multiple Sensors on SenWeaver Platform

This study proposes a monitoring system that effectively watches surroundings by cooperating the various sensor information including image information on a sensor network system. The monitoring system proposed in this paper is developed to watch certain intruders to the internal spaces through the interested region for exceptional time by installing cameras, PIR(Pyroelectric Infrared Ray) sensor and body detectors in such interested regions. Moreover the monitering system is implemented based on the SenWeaver plateform which is a integrated development tools for building wireless sensor network system. In the results of the test that was applied to a practically experimental environment by implementing some interfaces for the proposed system, it was considered that it is possible to watch surroundings effectively using the image information obtained from cameras and multiple sensor information acquisited from sensor nodes.
Software Industry and Patents : Legal Evolution and Economic Arguments

Beyond the rapid normalization process of patents in software industry, complex legal evolution and rigorous economic arguments underlie the crucial environmental transformation of the industry. In this article, we trace the evolutionary history for the theory and practice of patents in software industry from both legal and economic perspectives. First, we study the legal disputes and cases in light with the underpinnings of patent policy transformation, and then delve into the economic backrounds of the pros and cons for software patents, with special focus on the generic economic peculiarities of software industry. The fact that historical and practical policy and law in Korea have been largely affected from those of USA, and relative deficiency in the law, economics and management literature are the main motivation of the study, and we hope this study to contribute to the decision making of policymakers as well as law and business practitioners.
Implementation Plan of Integrated Medical Information System for Ubiquitous Healthcare Service

Modern society can be described as ubiquitous computing over the concept of information. Information technology(IT) has been developing in a way that relative technologies are integrated to each other. Especially in ubiquitous environment, medical information industry shows significant interest in the U-healthcare service area. This paper will first look into U-healthcare service environment and component of Integrated Medical Information Systems(IMIS). Secondly, it examines the basic technological factors for integrated medical information systems, which is datawarehouse, network, communication standards and technology related U-healthcare service. Finally it proposes how to implement and operate new integrated medical information system for ubiquitous health care service. The system will do point of care(POC) for customers by real time and diagnose them using their various and personal medical data. The information will be communicated back to the customers, which will improve their satisfaction.
An Empirical Analysis of Influential Factors for Widget Interface : Extended TAM Including Attributes

A Widget platform is acknowledged to be a next generation intelligent platform that is well suited to Web 2.0 and mobile convergence environments. With prospects of growth, examining users' perceptions of current widgets can be a valuable source of information in setting directions for Widget's future development. This study identifies user interface factors that affect widget usability and investigates a strategic approach to promoting the use of widgets by analyzing user's "intention to use" in connection with the identified interface factors. The experimental results show the consistency, intuition, minimal action, and personalization have a positive(+) effect on perceived ease of use and that personalization and design have a causal effect on perceived enjoyment. Inaddition, perceived ease of use has an influence on perceived enjoyment that, inturn, has a direct influence on intention to use. On the other hand, the hypothesis that perceived ease of use has a direct effect on intention to use was rejected.
