Design of FPGA Hardware Accelerator for Information Security System

Information Security System is implemented in software, hardware and FPGA device. Implementation of S/W provides high flexibility about various information security algorithm, but it has very vulnerable aspect of speed, power, safety, and performing ASIC is really excellent aspect of speed and power but don't support various security platform because of feature's realization. To improve conflict of these problems, implementation of recent FPGA device is really performed. The goal of this thesis is to design and develop a FPGA hardware accelerator for information security system. It performs as AES, SHA-256 and ECC and is controlled by the Integrated Interface. Furthermore, since the proposed Security Information System can satisfy various requirements and some constraints, it can be applied to numerous information security applications from low-cost applications and high-speed communication systems.
Stress analysis of HTS racetrack coils for 10 MW class superconducting wind power generator

The authors designed a high temperature superconductor (HTS) racetrack coil for a 10 MW class superconducting synchronous wind turbine generator. The designed HTS racetrack coil was analyzed by an electromagnetic finite element method (FEM) to determine the magnetic field distribution, inductance, stress, etc. This paper describes the stress analysis and structure design result of the HTS racetrack coil for 10 MW class superconducting synchronous wind turbine generators, considering orthotropic material properties, a large magnetic field, and the resulting Lorentz force effect. Insulated HTS racetrack coils and no-insulation HTS racetrack coils were also considered. According to the results of the stress analysis, the no-insulation HTS racetrack coil results were better than the insulated HTS racetrack coil results.
Road Tracking based on Prior Information in Video Sequences

In this paper, we propose an approach to tracking road regions from video sequences. The proposed method segments and tracks road regions by utilizing the prior information from the result of the previous frame. For the efficiency of the system, we have a simple assumption that the road region is usually shown in the lower part of input images so that lower 60% of input images is set to the region of interest(ROI). After initial segmentation using flood-fill algorithm, we merge neighboring regions based on color similarity measure. The previous segmentation result, in which seed points for the successive frame are extracted, is used as prior information to segment the current frame. The similarity between the road region of the previous frame and that of the current frame is measured by the modified Jaccard coefficient. According to the similarity we refine and track the detected road regions. The experimental results reveal that the proposed method is effective to segment and track road regions in noisy and non-noisy environments.
A Performance Analysis of I/O Scheduler for NAND Flash File System

NAND Flash Memory has been used in several devices by low cost and high capacity, and the demand for mass NAND Flash Memory has increased due to the multimedia extension of mobile devices. The JFFS2, NILFS2, and YAFFS2 file systems are used mainly in NAND Flash Memory. In this paper, the performance of Sequential read/write of the 3 file systems are analyzed for the 4 I/O schedulers : CFQ(Complete Fair Queuing) I/O scheduler, NOOP(No Operation) I/O scheduler, Anticipatory I/O scheduler, and Deadline I/O scheduler. In JFFS2 file system, Anticipatory I/O scheduler has the best performance by 8% decreasing speed in writing time and 1.5% decreasing speed in reading time compared to the other I/O scheduler. In YAFFS2 file system, it results are similar to performance in reading and writing for the 4 I/O schedulers. In NILFS2 file system, NOOP I/O scheduler has 2% faster in writing and Deadline I/O scheduler has 6% faster in reading than other I/O schedulers.
A new image rejection receiver architecture using simultaneously high-side and low-side injected LO signals

In this paper, we propose a new image rejection receiver architecture using simultaneously the high-side and low-side injected LO signals. The proposed architecture has a lower noise figure (NF) performance and a higher linearity characteristic than the previous receiver architecture using a single LO signal. Also, the proposed receiver shows a higher IRR performance about 6dB than that of the previous Weaver image rejection architecture even though the same gain and phase errors between I-path and Q-path exist. To verify these characteristics, we derive an IRR formular of the proposed architecture as a function of mismatch parameters. And we demonstrate its formular's usefulness through the system simulation. Therefore, the proposed architecture will be widely used to implement the image rejection receiver due to its higher IRR performance.
Design of Montgomery Algorithm and Hardware Architecture over Finite Fields

Finite field multipliers are the basic building blocks in many applications such as error-control coding, cryptography and digital signal processing. Recently, many semi-systolic architectures have been proposed for multiplications over finite fields. Also, Montgomery multiplication algorithm is well known as an efficient arithmetic algorithm. In this paper, we induce an efficient multiplication algorithm and propose an efficient semi-systolic Montgomery multiplier based on polynomial basis. We select an ideal Montgomery factor which is suitable for parallel computation, so our architecture is divided into two parts which can be computed simultaneously. In analysis, our architecture reduces 30%~50% of time complexity compared to typical architectures.
Mining Association Rules from the Web Access Log of an Online News website

Today a lot of functional areas of a firm are operated on the Web. Online shopping malls analyze web log recording customers' activities on the web to connect them to business outcomes. Not only commercial websites, but online news sites also need to collect and analyze web logs to understand their news readers' interest. However, little research has been performed yet. In this research we mined the web access log of an online news website and conduct Market Basket Analysis to uncover the association rules among the categories of news articles. The research is composed of two stages: 1) Identifying the individual session of a visitor; 2) Mining association rule from news articles read by each session. We gather 7-day access logs two times. The results of log mining and meanings of association rules are suggested with managerial implications in conclusion section.
An analysis of mobile communication environment by a socio-technical approach

By the end of 2012, there were 5.1 billion mobile communication subscribers in South Korea. The majority of subscriptions (97.3 percent) were for mobile phones, particularly smartphones. From 2010 to 2012, the number of mobile phone subscriptions increased 2,000 percent, growing from an initial subscriber base of 150 million. This paper explores the changing mobile communication landscape from a socio-technological perspective to understand the underlying drivers of change and their effects on the South Korean populace. A content analysis of 11,156 electronic newspaper articles mentioning mobile communication in South Korea and occurring between 2010 and 2012 was conducted. 5,119 keywords were extracted based on frequency statistics and further analyzed to determine the drivers of change. Based on this analysis, we conclude that South Korea's mobile communication environment is focused on rapid expansion of technology with minor consideration given to the social aspects of this change. This has resulted in several negative consequences and we urge for new policies by government and industry to address this gap.
A Study on the Activation for the Mobile App Services of Local Government

Because of rapid advance of wireless Internet-related technology and fast diffusion of Smart phone, a variety of mobile applications through domestic and foreign app stores have been made and used. Under the recognition of current trend, both central government and local government have developed and provided public mobile app in order to accomplish the mobile e-government. However, public mobile app is not popular in spite of vast investment for its development and service. This study investigated current issues and problems of public mobile app in public service, management, and technology aspects. To do so, this study categorized the interested people of public mobile app into users, providers, and developers, and conducted deep interviews to them. Based on the interview results, the study suggested the following recommendations for the activating tools of public mobile app: providing user-customized information, fruitfulness of public information management, maintenance of management system for public mobile app service, user-friendly promotion appropriate in mobile environment, public mobile app development based on e-government standard framework, etc.. This study may provide the researchers with the successive study guidelines in mobile e-government and public mobile app fields. Also, the study may help the practitioners to make effective decisions on polices and strategies for mobile e-government of local government.
