A New Interference-Aware Dynamic Safety Interval Protocol for Vehicular Networks

In IEEE 802.11p/1609-based vehicular networks, vehicles are allowed to exchange safety and control messages only within time periods, called control channel (CCH) interval, which are scheduled periodically. Currently, the length of the CCH interval is set to the fixed value (i.e. 50ms). However, the fixed-length intervals cannot be effective for dynamically changing traffic load. Hence, some protocols have been recently proposed to support variable-length CCH intervals in order to improve channel utilization. In existing protocols, the CCH interval is subdivided into safety and non-safety intervals, and the length of each interval is dynamically adjusted to accommodate the estimated traffic load. However, they do not consider the presence of hidden nodes. Consequently, messages transmitted in each interval are likely to overlap with simultaneous transmissions (i.e. interference) from hidden nodes. Particularly, life-critical safety messages which are exchanged within the safety interval can be unreliably delivered due to such interference, which deteriorates QoS of safety applications such as cooperative collision warning. In this paper, we therefore propose a new interference-aware Dynamic Safety Interval (DSI) protocol. DSI calculates the number of vehicles sharing the channel with the consideration of hidden nodes. The safety interval is derived based on the measured number of vehicles. From simulation study using the ns-2, we verified that DSI outperforms the existing protocols in terms of various metrics such as broadcast delivery ration, collision probability and safety message delay.
A Simulation Framework for CUDA Computing on Non-x86 Platforms based on QEMU and GPGPU-Sim

This paper proposes a CUDA simulation framework for non-x86 computing platforms based on QEMU and GPGPU-sim. Previous simulators for heterogeneous computing platforms did not support for non-x86 CPU models or CUDA computing platform. In this work, we combined the QEMU and the GPGPU-Sim to support the non-x86 CPU models and the CUDA platform, respectively. This approach provides a simulation framework for CUDA computing on non-x86 CPU models.
A Design of an Energy-Efficient Application Protocol for the Sensor Networks

Some application of the sensor networks such as crop management must control the temperature within a proper range. The energy-efficient applications and protocols for them are needed. In this paper, we propose an energy efficient application protocol which can meet these needs. We use the concept of safety zone to manage the appropriate range of properties within our algorithm. We name our proposed algorithm "MSZ". To assess the performance of the proposed algorithm the actual temperature data was collected using the sensor node. The algorithm was implemented through programming and compared with the other algorithms. Experimental results show that the MSZ algorithm has a much better performance than that of APTEEN in terms of energy efficiency as well as has the ability of determining the status of sensor nodes with the periodical transmitting. Our MSZ algorithm can be useful in applications developments for the management of crops, fermented food and etc.
Characteristics analysis and Fabrication of Integrated Piezoresistive Temperature & Humidity Sensors

Effect of forward common emitter current gain on emitter area in NPN transistors

In this paper, we present the effect of forward current gain on emitter area in NPN transistors are used widely in the almost linear integrated circuits and integrated injection logic. Relations between forward current gain and emitter area were conformed with the simulation with examined calculation and experiments. At the same emitter length, as junction depth is increased, common emitter current gain is decreased. Ratio of Emitter bottom area comparing to side area increases, the emitter current gain is increased. The theory and simulation results were fitted in with the experimental data very well.
Design and Fabrication of a Phase Shifter RFIC using a Tunable Multi-layer Dielectric

In this work, a phase shifter radio-frequency integrated chip (RFIC) using a simple all-pass network is presented. As a tuning element of the phase shifter RFIC, tunable capacitors with a multi-layer dielectric of a para-/ferro-/para-electrics using a high tunable BST ferroelectric and a low-loss BZN paraelectric thin film were utilized. In order to evaluate and analyze the fabricated phase shifter RFIC, the same elements such as an inductor and capacitor integrated into it are also fabricated and tested. Formal Models of Module Linking Mechanisms for a Single Address Space

As WSNs(Wireless Sensor Networks) are being deployed widely in diverse application areas, their management and maintenance become more important. Recent sensor node software takes modular software architectures in pursuit of flexible software management and energy efficient reprogramming. To realize an flexible and efficient modular architecture particularly on resource constrained mote-class sensor nodes that are implemented with MCUs(Micro-Controller Units) of a single address space. an appropriate module linking model is essential to resolve and bind the inter-module global symbols. This paper identifies a design space of module linking model and respectively their implementation frameworks. We then establish a taxonomy for module linking models by exploring the design space of module linking models. Finally, we suggest an implementation framework respectively for each module linking model in the taxonomy. We expect that this work lays the foundations for systematic innovation toward more flexible and efficient modular software architectures for WSNs.
Driving Control of Automated Guided Vehicle Using Centroid of Gravity Method

AGV is most often used for the automation of freight transportation in the manufacturing industry or the distribution warehouses. AGV is fairly costly and used in goods transport between the determined location. The main control device dedicated to AGV is often autonomously developed for simplification using PLC in industry field. However, AGV developed for simplification makes many errors in traffic because it is developed for the limited simple function. Control device dedicated to AGV has been developed to solve the problem but it is almost impossible to revise the device according to the character and structure of every manufacturing industry. The purpose of this study is to propose the design method of the control system interlocked with PLC and dedicated to AGV. The control system should be to improve the problem of traffic rolling and possible to be revised according to the character of factory. It is apparent the proposed AGV system is efficient in operation in the result of several traffic performance analysis through the tests.

Zigbee is a wireless communication technology optimized for Wireless Sensor Network environment. Implementation of location estimation system is based on Zigbee. Hand-held Multimedia Device Identification Based on Audio Source

Thanks to the development of diverse audio editing Technology, audio file can be easily revised. As a result, diverse social problems like forgery may be caused. Digital forensic technology is actively studied to solve these problems. In this paper, a hand-held device identification method, an area of digital forensic technology is proposed. It uses the noise features of devices caused by the design and the integrated circuit of each device but cannot be identified by the audience. Wiener filter is used to get the noise sounds of devices and their acoustic features are extracted via MIRtoolbox and then they are trained by multi-layer neural network. To evaluate the proposed method, we use 5-fold cross-validation for the recorded data collected from 6 mobile devices. The experiments show the performance 99.9%. We also perform some experiments to observe the noise features of mobile devices are still useful after the data are uploaded to UCC. The experiments show the performance of 99.8% for UCC data.
Railway Object Recognition Using Mobile Laser Scanning Data

The objective of the research is to automatically recognize railway objects from MLS data in which 9 key objects including terrain, track, bed, vegetation, platform, barrier, posts, attachments, powerlines are targeted. The proposed method can be divided into two main sub-steps. First, multi-scale contextual features are extracted to take the advantage of characterizing objects of interest from different geometric levels such as point, line, volumetric and vertical profile. Second, by considering contextual interactions amongst object labels, a contextual classifier is utilized to make a prediction with local coherence. In here, the Conditional Random Field (CRF) is used to incorporate the object context. By maximizing the object label agreement in the local neighborhood, CRF model could compensate the local inconsistency prediction resulting from other local classifiers. The performance of proposed method was evaluated based on the analysis of commission and omission error and shows promising results for the practical use.
An Empirical Analysis on Market Power and Productivity in the Korean Medical Service Industry

This paper establishes the empirical model based on Hall`s(1990) and Basu` s(1996) models, estimates the five types of productivity in the medical service industry over the period 1975:1-2010:4, and analyzes the cyclicality of measured productivities and their correlations with the industrial real wage. The empirical results are summarized as the followings. First, there proved to be substantial market power in pricing and returns to scale in production for the medical service industry. Second, the three types of productivity among 5 types showed to be procyclical. Third, the average labor productivity, the original Solow residual, and the cost-based Solow residual are expected to provide reasonable indexes in analyzing the relationship between productivity and real wage.
A Study on Social Media Market Competition based on User Gratification

The change of social media market toward multimedia environment makes users select social media according to preference factor`s gratification and this also causes competition among various social medias. So this study focused on competition among social media from the perspective of users` gratification while considering multimedia environment of social media market. The widely known Niche theory is used to confirm competitions among media in an environment with limited resource. According to research result, (1) Facebook and Kakao Talk mostly satisfies users` expectations; (2) Facebook and Kakao Talk form leading group and Blog, Youtube and Twitter form chasing group in this competition; (3) Kakao Talk greatly satisfies users` various expectations. The research result implies that, for social media to have competitive advantage in the market, it is better to provide convenience and real-time responsiveness in mobile environment and to improve service so that users could more easily utilize network.
The Impacts of Acceptance Decision Factors of Tour Social Network Service on Continuous Use Intention from the Viewpoint of User Participation : Focusing on Mediating Effect of Perceived Value and Satisfaction

This study is aimed at understanding the factors behind deciding to accept a social network service (SNS) from the viewpoint of tourists who are users of tourism SNS. The study also seeks to clarify the effects these deduced factors have on the intention of users to continuously use SNS. To this end, individual properties (such as self-efficacy, socio-cultural effects, social presence and people`s innovativeness), systematic properties (like system quality and information quality)and usefulness/availability were used as factors with regard to the decision to accept tourism SNS based on previous studies and efforts were made to structurally clarify the effects of such previous factors on people`s intention to continuously use SNS through perceived value and satisfaction. SNS had significant effects on satisfaction and, furthermore, significantly affected tourists` intention to continuously use it. Based on such study results, factors behind deciding to accept SNS from the viewpoint of tourists affected customers` perceived value and satisfaction and ultimately affected their intention to continuously use SNS. To achieve the purpose of the study, a survey was conducted on about 250 Busan residents who had used SNS in relation to tourist activities, such as exhibitions, conventions, accommodation, trips, aviation service and transportation. According to an empirical study, factors behind deciding to accept tourism SNS, including individual properties, systematic properties and usefulness/availability had statistically significant effects on perceived value. The usefulness/availability factor had the largest influence, in particular, followed by the systematic factor and individual factor. The value perceived in the process of using tourism SNS had significant effects on satisfaction and, furthermore, significantly affected tourists` intention to continuously use it. Based on such study results, factors behind deciding to accept SNS from the viewpoint of tourists affected customers` perceived value and satisfaction and ultimately affected their intention to continuously use SNS.

The paper is to investigates how influence service quality satisfaction, trust and repurchase intention using SERVPERF instrument in airline industry. This study will contributes to provide development strategies how to expense market and strength relation between customer to FSC and LCC by an empirical study. This study uses computer software of SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0 for study analysis. The LCC should strengthen the price competitiveness, as well as it needs to establish a strategic management distinguishing service quality from other airline. The airline will has improved service quality of reliability and tangibles since improve service of reliability and tangibles. This study will provide strategic insights and information on service quality in airline industry.
