A 12-bit Hybrid Digital Pulse Width Modulator

In this paper, a 12-bit high resolution, power and area efficiency hybrid digital pulse width modulator (DPWM) with process and temperature (PT) calibration has been proposed for digital controlled DC-DC converters. The hybrid structure of DPWM combines a 6-bit differential tapped delay line ring-mux digital-to-time converter (DTC) schema and a 6-bit counter-comparator DTC schema, resulting in a power and area saving solution. Furthermore, since the 6-bit differential delay line ring oscillator serves as the clock to the high 6-bit counter-comparator DTC, a high frequency clock is eliminated, and the power is significantly saved. In order to have a simple delay cell and flexible delay time controllability, a voltage controlled inverter is adopted to build the deferential delay cell, which allows fine-tuning of the delay time. The PT calibration circuit is composed of process and temperature monitors, two 2-bit flash ADCs and a lookup table. The monitor circuits sense the PT (Process and Temperature) variations, and the flash ADC converts the data into a digital code. The complete circuits design has been verified under different corners of CMOS 0.18um process technology node.
Development of Robot Contents for STEAM education

Educational learning methods that take advantage of a robot provide opportunities for students to develop high dimensional thinking, a creative expression and discovery learning opportunity. It is also perceived as a suitable tool for STEAM systems which can be used in a variety of school curriculums. Therefore we designed and developed STEAM educational contents using robots in this study. This study analyze elementary text books and design the convergence contents from various subjects such as math, science, engineering and art through a robot. This study has developed educational materials by making a robot based on the designed contents. They have been applied to after school materials and then evaluated for comprehension, interest and participation. The results of this study have shown very encouraging evaluations from participating students. Accordingly, this study has shown that STEAM contents that take advantage of a robot have improved student participation, interests, and comprehension in the curriculums. Additionally, integrating STEAM educational content has proved more effective in contrast to being separated.
A study on finding influential twitter users by clustering and ranking techniques

Recently, a lot of users are using social network services as the spread of SNS and generalization of smart-phone. In this study, we apply clustering and ranking method for finding twitter influential users. First, we propose five ranking elements. The five elements include the number of follow, the number of retweet, IRP, IFP and influ-score. These elements are used by centroid point of clustering methods. This study can help to find novel approaches for finding twitter influential users.
Performance Analysis and Improvement of RS485 Based Low Speed and Multi-Node CSMA/CD for Control Network System

In this paper, we suggested a RS485 based CSMA/CD protocol that is available in low speed multi-node networks such as industry control communication network and home network etc. The suggested protocol was compared to widely used Master-Slave protocol, Modbus. We modeled realistic control network and showed that the average delay and throughput performance were significantly improved in the different transmission rates.
Development of an Integrated Meter Reading Home Concentrate Device

This paper highlights the home concentrate device(HCD) that integrates the data reading and display of the six types of meters (water, hot water, heating, cooling, gas and electricity) used in Korean residential areas. Unlike the conventional system which utilizes single MCU, the developed system uses two MCUs for one MCU to gather the meter readings and for the other MCU to communicate to the server computer. Hard ware design, communication protocols, LCD design and program structures are discussed and the test results are shown in this paper. With the implementation of integrated meter reading, the developed system can increase the popularity of automatic meter reading(AMR) with its better scalability, pricing, installation fee, maintenance and faster response.
Wide Band Microstrip line-to-Rectangular Waveguide Transition Using a Radial Probe for Millimeter-wave Applications

In this work, a broadband microstrip (MSL) - to - waveguide (WR12) transition has been presented for millimeter-wave module applications. For improvement of a bandwidth, the radial MSL electrical-probe is designed on the low-loss organic dielectric substrate. The designed and tested characteristics of the proposed transition are characterized in terms of an insertion and return loss. Considering the loss contribution of the cable adapter and waveguide transition for the measurement, the proposed transition loss can be analyzed as -1.88 and -2.01 dB per a transition at 70 and 80 GHz, respectively. The bandwidth of the proposed transition for reflection at -10 dB is 26 GHz at all test frequencies from 67 to 95 GHz. Compared to the state-of-the-art results, improvement of 8.3 % is achieved for the operation bandwidth.
A Low Close-in Phase Noise 2.4 GHz RF Hybrid Oscillator using a Frequency Multiplier

This paper proposes a 2.4 GHz RF oscillator with a very low close-in phase noise performance. This is composed of a low frequency crystal oscillator and three frequency multipliers such as two doubler (X2) and one tripler (X3). The proposed oscillator is implemented as a hybrid type circuit design using a discrete silicon bipolar transistor. The measurement results of the proposed oscillator structure show -115 dBc/Hz close-in phase noise at 10 kHz offset frequency, while only dissipating 5 mW from a 1-V supply. Its close-in phase noise level is very close to that of a low frequency crystal oscillator with little degradation of noise performance. The proposed structure which is consisted of a low frequency crystal oscillator and a frequency multiplier provides new method to implement a low power low close-in phase noise RF local oscillator.
Development and Possibility Evaluation of Thermal Imaging Camera for Medical Monitoring of Body Temperature

Recently, thermography camera have been using for body-temperature monitoring. We report on fabrication of prototype thermography camera using the chalcogenide-glass lens and the camera test by analysis of thermal image. In this work, it was found out that thermography camera discerned body-temperature between 20 and
with noise equivalent temperature difference(NETD) of 87.7mK. It is confirmed that thermography camera using the chalcogenide-glass lens is applicable to the body-temperature monitoring system.
A Study on the Difference between Young and Old Generation of SNS Behavior

As social network service(SNS) environments have been changed and increased, people perceive SNSs as a part of their daily lives. Therefore mutual communication activities based on the Internet and its influences are expanding continuously. This paper explored the difference between consumers' emotional well-being level and social capital formed through SNSs. Given that the reason of using SNS and its utilization can be different depending on consumers, this paper also examines generation differences. Hence, we examine how the forms of emotional well-being and social capital in SNSs can be different according to each generation. We conducted a survey targeting the consumers who have an experience of using online SNS and looked into the effects of emotional well-being and social capital among generations using eighty three valid samples. In this study, we find that there are differences on the effects of the sizes and the types of social capital formed through SNS, depending on the generations. In particular, the size of social capital from younger generation was larger compared to the older generation and bridging social capital, one of social capital types, was also bigger in the younger generation compared to the older generation. Although general emotional well-being was not differentiated among the generations, we could find a generation difference by showing that older generation's negative well-being, one of emotional well-being types, was more sensitive than younger generation. Based on such results, this paper proposes SNS utilization plan sub-divided by generations, suggesting management direction of online social networks.
The Effects of 'K-POP' Preference of Chinese Consumers on Purchase Intention for Korean Products

This study investigated the effects of 'K-POP' preference on purchase intention of Korean products. Especially, it revealed the mediating role between the participation intention of Korean culture event and the purchase intention of Korean products. Further, we examined the difference in the path relation according to the use-behavior of Korean wave contents. In this proposed model, we can see 'K-POP' preference had a positive effect on participation intention of Korean culture event, but it was not significant for purchase intention of common products. The participation in Korean culture event had significant effects on the purchase intention of Korean culture products and the purchase intention of common products. However, the purchase intention of Korean culture products had no significant effects on the purchase intention of common products. Thus, our finding showed that higher preference of 'K-POP' did not make cause purchase intention of common products. Further, the higher the preference of 'K-POP' was, the higher the participation intension of Korean culture event was and, as a result, the purchase intention of common products got higher. In addition, path analysis results according to the media usage behaviors show that Chinese consumer who uses the internet and has a higher preference of 'K-POP' had a positive effect on the purchase intention of common products. Furthermore, it has a positive effect on both purchase intension of Korean culture products and purchase intension of common products. In case of Chinese consumer who use the television, radio and newspapers, K-POP preference had no significant effect on the purchase intension of common products.
A Study on the Youth Job Creation Problem Solving with a Co-creation Approach: Focusing on the Busan City

The growth of Korean economy has continuously declined since 2000, which resulted in the reduction of employment creation opportunity. Futhermore, these circumstances are aggravating the youth job creation. This study investigates the co-creation approach for solving the youth job creation problem. By using the grounded theory on recent newspapers for a year, the study proposes a paradigm model for the youth job creation. Based upon this result, the study creates the conceptual model for the youth job creation, which includes three factors such as process, environment, and institution. This study will contribute not only to the extension of qualitative study on the grounded theory in research, but also to the political implications for the youth job creation in practice.
An Empirical Study of Agile Manufacturing and its Business Performance: Focusing on Antecedents of Agility

Because of increased global competition, rapid technology development, and shorten product life cycle, manufacturing firms needed to quickly adapt to the changes of customer and competitive environment. During last 20 years, lean production and agile manufacturing have been used to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing firms. This study is purposed to examine the antecedents of agility and to statistically analyze not only the effect of antecedents on agility but also the effect of agility on business performance. This study used the structural equation model and found that intra-organizational cooperation, inter-organizational cooperation, and mutual trust had the significant effects on agility. And it was found that agility had a significant effect on operation performance and strategic performance. Agility has been one of important competitive advantages enhancing the supply chain process and firm's competitiveness. This study contributes to widen the practices of agility capability.
