Prediction Model of Software Size for 4GL and Database Projects

An important task for any software project manager is to be able to predict and control project size. Unfortunately, there is comparatively little work that deals with the problem of building prediction methods for software size in fourth-generation languages and database projects. In this paper, we propose a new estimation method for estimating for software size based on minimum relative error(MRE) criterion. The characteristic of the proposed method is insensitive to the extreme values of the observed measures which can be obtained early in the development life cycle. In order to verify the performance of the proposed estimation method for software size in terms of both quality of fit and predictive quality, the experiments has been conducted for the dataset Ⅰ and Ⅱ, respectively. For the data set Ⅰ and Ⅱ, our proposed prediction method was shown to be superior to the traditional method LS and RLS in terms of both the quality of fit and predictive quality when applied to data obtained from actual software development projects.

SPC(Statistical Process Control) provides objective means of controlling quality in any transformation processes by analyzing statistically data gathered in the process. Considering the fact that a measure to feedback results of the process investigation in the real time is required, it is very practical to construct the SPC system as a module of the POP(Point of Production) system. CCIC: A Climate Change Information Center on the Internet

This paper presents a climate change information system that provides the data and information about climate change. The system shows the meteorologic data observed, climate change research institutes, and research programs. As the result of analyzing the meteorologic data, it also provides users with the climate change information using the graphic and multimedia data. The terminology retrieval and dictionary facility in the climate change can be useful to the users who are interested in the climate change.
A Study on a technology of extraction of motion objects

This paper introduces the research and development of automatic generation technology to develop the character agent. The R&D of this technology includes three major elements-body model generation, automatic motion generation and synthetic human generation. Environmental problems arise from the rapidly developing personal computers and are gradually becoming a significant part of problems. Computer industry are usually viewed as relatively clean. However, discarded personal computer and related equipment which are piling up at warehouse, or going to landfills has on the negative effects of hazardous substance on health and the ecosystem are growing problems which did not trouble society a few years ago. This paper will estimate the quantity of the obsolete personal computer in 1999 and suggest the alternatives of its disposition.

A Performance Evaluation Model for TMN EMS with ATM Switching Systems

This paper presents the queuing model for evaluating the performance of TMN EMS with ATM switching systems. TMS for managing ATM switching systems has a hierarchical structure that consists of managers at the top level, agents at the middle, and ATM switching systems at bottom. A manager communicates with several agents, and an agent manages an ATM switching system We define a queuing model in order to predict the capacity and performance for managers in EMS. By evaluating the queuing model, we can predict the average service time and capacity of EMS.
Distinction of Korean and English Characters from Multi-font Images for the Recognition of Mixed Document Composed of Korean and English

This paper proposed and algorithm for distinguishing Korean and English characters which can be applied to multi-size and multi-font images The proposed algorithm distinguishes them as the ratio height to width of each character, the number of connected component, existing or not of stroke image on the left-upper area and detection of bars in an input image. The process of detecting bar is a sequence of left, upper, right, and lower. The proposed method was experimented and proved good performance for the Myungjo font, the Sinmyungjo font, the Gothic font, and the Kungseo font of Hanguel word processor which is widely used for the writing of documents.
A Study on the Conceptual Model of Evaluation of Information System Centered on User Satisfaction

Scholars and researcher have carried out many studies attempting to measure the user satisfaction as the performance variable of information system. However, the theoretical investigation has not been clearly conducted due to the differences in concepts, variables, and methods in measurement. Thus, it is important to examine the causes of differences and to suggest to conceptual model. First, an extensive review of the previous studies is presented to identify the concepts, methods, and the limitations. Second, the implications of the literature review are discussed. Third, based on the implications, the conceptual model of evaluation of information system composed of the factors influencing user satisfaction is suggested. This model analyzes the explicit interrelationship between the influencing factors (independent variable) and the measuring factors (dependent variable). The model also assesses the correlation and the relative importance among the independent variables.
Automated Inspection System Using Image Processing Technology for Automotive Components

This paper presents an integrated and automated inspection system using image processing technology for the automotive engine assembly process. The system make it possible for the inspected data to be entered directly from the machine vision into the statistical process control system. Such direct entry enables the prompt preparation of corrective actions against process problems. An IVP-150 machine vision board is installed within the PC for image processing, and a template matching technology is implemented to precisely verify quality factors. The developed system showed robustness to the problems of noise, distortion, and orientation.
New variable adaptive coefficient algorithm for variable circumstances

One of the most popular algorithm in adaptive signal processing is the least mean square(LMS) algorithm. The majority of these papers examine the LMS algorithm with a constant step size. The choice of the step size reflects a tradeoff between misadjustment and the speed of adaptation. Subsequent works have discussed the issue of optimization of the step size or methods of varying the step size to improve performance. However there is as yet no detailed analysis of a variable step size algorithm that is capable of giving both the speed of adaptation and convergence. In this paper we propose a new variable step size algorithm where the step size adjustment is controlled by square of the prediction error. The simulation results obtained using the new algorithm about noise canceller system and system identification are described. They are compared to the results obtained for other variable step size algorithm. function.
A Study on the Chaotic Random Signal Generator

To prevent the congruent output of the digital psuedo-random transformation from giving the same randomness, a transformation of seemingly random deterministic process, called Chaotic transformation, is introduced. Passing through a Chaotic transformation, each event(descriptor) will produce chaotic random sequences. haotic transformation is designed on the basis of deterministic chaos function and also can be realized by simple hardware like shift registers. The circuit of chaotic transformation implemented with the shift registers is presented and the chaotic behavior of suggested circuit is explained with the characteristics of saw-tooth function with the chaotic behavior.
