AN INTERNAL STRUCTURE OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS FAILURE; What really constitutes IS failure\ulcorner

Information systems (IS) failures still continue and are prevalent everywhere. When considering an enormous amount of budget currently invested on IS technology in many organizations, these continuing failures can be critical culprits to failures of the organizations themselves. However, the meaning and definition of IS failures are not unified among IS researchers as well as IS practitioners although there have been a lot of conceptual research regarding the concept of IS failures. Previous empirical studies are not enough yet and thus we anticipate further empirical studies to be performed which will validate previous conceptual research. In this regards, by analyzing IS practitioners perception toward IS failures in a more detailed manner, this research extends conceptual and empirical research in the past which previously identified the structure of information systems (IS) failures. Further, this current study identified the interrelationships among the categories. The data was analyzed using a multidimensional scaling program and fourteen categories of problems were identified as to constitute the IS failure structure. It was found that about a half of categories identified were related to technical failures such as network and system infrastructure, costs, data/information, and program errors. The other remaining categories were related with organizational or social problems such as business success, human resources, relationships, communication, and user skills.
Operations of Administration Tool and Consistency Properties for RBAC Database Integrity

Role Based Access Control(RBAC) reduces the cost of administering access control policies as well as making the process less error-prone. Administration tool is most important component in the concept of RBAC. The administration tool for the RBAC security system must be maintain the integrity of user-role and role-role relationships in the RBAC Database. Therefor, it is required set functions, properties defining integrity of database. When it will be designed security systems which is applying RBAC policy on the Linux(server system environments, this paper defines integrity of database for user-role and role-role relationships, and we propose formal specification of operation in order to manage these relationships. The proposed formal specification leads to the consistency requirements for the RBAC database which are defined as a set of relationship. Also, this paper can easily derive the implementation of the RBAC administration tool by formal specification of operations. It leads us tn the minimal set for a more efficiently implementation of administration tool.
A Study on the Knowledge Management Information for E-business

Many companies use models or knowledge management information that suit the industrial epoch. Far from benefiting these organizations, these outdated models seriously undermine their information strategies. This paper examines the key assumptions of any information strategy and demonstrates why they should be considered afresh. Based on this discussion, we proposes a new perspective on knowledge management and suggests how managers can effectively deploy it in the new world of E-business.
A Distinction of the Korean Character, Chinese Character and English Character using the Threshold Stroke Density

It is an important factor to distinguish the kind of the character for increasing recognition rate before the character recognition in the document recognition system composed of the multi-font and multi-letter. All the letters of each country have a various men characteristic in the each composition. In this paper, we used the stroke density as a method to distinguish the letter, and it has been adopted Korean, English and Chinese character. Input data is processed by the normalization to adopt multi-font document. Proposed method has been proved by the results of experiment the fact that the distinction probability of the Korean and English is more than 80%
Reliability Growth Analysis for In-service PCS Telecommunication System

New products often have in-service reliability problem despite an intensive development program. Therefore reliability data must be collected and analyzed, and improvements designed and implemented. A type of reliability incentive contract which has recently attracted a lot of attention is reliability improvement warranty(RIW). It has been employed by military, airlines, telecommunication systems, and public utilities. An RIW contract requires that the supplies carries out all repairs, modify the equipment to improve its reliability, and provides all spates needed, for a fixed period, for once-off fee. This paper presents the reliability growth analysis and management methods for in-service MC68 microprocessor, which is the main component of the base station controller in PCS(Personal Communication Service) telecommunication system. The methods will provide guidelines to monitor reliability program in planning RIW contract.
Hazardous Substances in the old Personal Computer

Adjusted EWM and MCEWM charts scheme for M statistics in start-up process

In start up process control, it may be necessary to use appropriate scheme in monitoring processes with individual observations. In these situation individual observations are periodically drawn from the process. In this paper, using modifying statistics with individual measurement, we suggest a simple technique which operating control chart for monitoring the process. And compare individual observation control procedures that are X, an exponentially weighted moving(EWM), adjusted EWM and adjusted MCEWM charts. And estimate the ARL to detection of shifts in the process mean and standard deviation using simulation.
An Automatic Connection Scheme of Disconnected Contours for the Vectorizing of Contours

This paper presents a contour connection scheme in a scanned contour image including broken lines for the developing of the automated contour vecterizing system. In the proposed scheme, the thinning of contours is performed, and then broken lines are connected Contours have end points if there exist broken lines. Each pair of end points is connected repeatedly according to their status to be one connected component per contour. The proposed scheme can be applied to develope an efficient automated contour vectorizing system.
A Study the Recycling method and Safety of Ascon

A special double drier structure at a plant level is developed to recycle old ascon as well as an economic mixture rate of old with new is analyzed under safety consideration in this thesis. Based upon the experimentations performed throughout this research, 35% of old ascon mixture is found to be the best for flow test, stability, air void, density, and moisture susceptibility. It is also found that mixture does not meet the requirement in indirect tensile test, However, it is concluded that it is not critical at all since the experimental results present that the difference is too small to give any meaningful indication. A good return for the investment of this facility can be obtained if the mixture rate guideline suggested in this research is kept.
A visual intuitive improvement of the NIN problem in navigational design of the internet business systems

In this thesis we present the way of visually intuitive interface to the web site users through the comparison of NIN web site with clearly intuitive web site. Improving the web site which has NIN problem to visually intuitive we can achieve web site's visitors who want to buy something got a feeling of graphical excellence and understand web site navigational structure easily through the intuitive navigational design and complete purchasing easily therefore these are to be the basis of the internet business systems goal which is assumed as business success. In a experiment we examine web site's case study and to make an implementation we use flash to solve NIN problem which is improved in a visually intuitive.
The Impact of Difference of Linkages between Manufacturing Strategy and Action Plans - An Empirical Comparison of U.S. and Korean Manufacturers -

It is important to find the competitive priority, which makes a great contribution to the action plans. The reason is that this makes it possible to provide Korean manufacturers with effective behavioral model to break through the depression after 1997'financial crisis in Korea. Focused priority has become a focus of organizations faced with the need to survive in a highly uncertain business environment characterized by rapid technological change, global competition, and demanding customers. Many believe that better linkages of priority and action plans are fundamental to surviving in the world market. However, there was little previous research dealing with the relationship between the strategic priority and action plans in the view of competitive weapon. This study presents empirical findings on differences between U.S. and Korean manufacturing approach to relationship of priority and plans. Specially, Korean manufacturers are eager for good model to overcome depression of 1997' financial crisis in Korea. Data was collected as part of the Manufacturing Futures Project completed in 1996. The results indicate that U.S. manufacturers maintain focused linkages from priority to action plans than do Korean manufacturers.
