A Solution for Timing Gap Problems on Network Intrusion Detection Systems

This paper proposes a method to reduce the timing gap which causes a type of attack to a network-based intrusion detection system. For this, an intrusion defection system is used in order to measure the round trip tin to the destination system, and the measured round trip time is used for estimation of packet's real arrival time to destination. Socket programings are used on the LAN environments to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. The test results show that an estimation method which uses the latest round trip time has the best performance, and the timing gap can be significantly reduced with small overheads.
Comparisons of Various Properties for Zero Suppression Algorithms

Among zero-suppression (ZS) algorithms proposed for synchronous stream cipher system, ZS-1 has the difficulty on the implementation of stream cipher system, ZS-2 has a weakness of channel error propagation, and ZS-3 has the complexity on the hardware. Because each algorithm must be chosen carefully to the application system, in this paper, we propose a criterion of the system adapted from the simulated results on the parameter changed.
The Multi-user Interference Cancellation in CDMA System using SIMPLEX Code

In this paper, we propose a system to cancel the multi-user interference of synchronous BPSK DS/CDMA systems. In this CDMA scheme, the spectrum of the user's signal is directly spread by means of the Simplex code or the phase offsetted PN code. But in arbitrary bit interval, we use the one spreading code of the Simplex code and the phase offsetted PN code. The receiver cancel the multi-user interference and demodulate information bits by using reference correlator. This paper presents a interference cancellation model and analyzes this system mathematically. The suggested system show that the interference resulting from other users are remarkably reduced. In AWGN and Nakagami fading environment we analyze interference generated from other users and compare the resulting performance with that of the conventional receiver in same user side.
Study on a GUI Development for the Campus Facility Management

This paper proposes an easy method to develop GUI for the campus facility management. In the developing stage of GUI, the most important thing is to apply effective Windows programming techniques and component software supporting techniques. This study shows a GUI developing method using the OLE automation objects and ADO data control. For a case study, the study constructs its GUI which performs map overlaying referencing attribute tables, retrieving by SQL, mapping/displaying of thematic map, and so on.
Content-based Retrieval System using Image Shape Features

In this paper, we present an image retrieval system using shape features. The preprocessing to gain shape feature includes edge extraction using chain code. The shape features consist of center of mass, standard deviation, ratio of major axis and minor axis length. The similarity is estimated as comparing the features of query image with the features of images in database. Thus, the candidates of images are retrieved according to the order of similarity. The result of an experimentation is dullness for scale, rotation and translation. We evaluate the performance of shape features for image retrieval on a database with over 170 images. The Recall and the Precision is each 0.72 and 0.83 in the result of average experiment. So the proposed method is presented useful method.
Image coding using blocked zerotree

A blocked zerotree coding algorithm for compression of subband image is proposed. Significance of blocks with respect to a certain threshold are coded with a set of transition rules for the significance of blocks. Significant blocks are quantized by vector quantization. The basic idea for this coding approach are: 1) Subband images are coded by blocks, 2) Important blocks based on the significance of blocks are coded and quantized, 3) Multiband codebook which is composed of sub-codebooks dedicated for each threshold and subband level is adapted to produce good reproduction vectors for vector quantization. The compression results are similar to Shapiro's zerotree coding even though ours are obtained without entropy coding of bit streams from blocked zerotree encoder. If an entropy coding is applied to the bitstream, PSNR will be improved.
A Study on Selection Alternatives of Basic and Major Couses for College Students

The survey was carried out for the student sin colleges of SangJi University for analyzing the parameters affecting the selection of ones cultural studies and major subjects. The number of respondents was 204, and the responses were computer-processed utilizing Excel and statistical software SPSS. The attributes of main factors were composed of House of Quality(HOQ) that is basic matrix of Quality Function Development. From the survey analysis, selection criteria for ones cultural studies and major subjects are as follows. In selecting ones cultural studies, teaching methodology is the most important factor than assignment, the percentage of attendance and academic credit. And in case of major subjects, no other factors than the recommendation by seniors were significantly affected ones subject selection.
A Proposal of the Authentication Protocol for Wireless Mobile Communication Systems Using Keyed Hash Function

An authentication protocol for wireless mobile communication systems is proposed. The protocol employs the keyed hash function to provide mutual authentication and session key distribution. This makes the low computation power of mobile stations. To provide the security architecture with minimal assumption about the security of intermediate transport networks, this protocol has no assumptions about the security of the intermediate, fixed networks.
Designing efficient fuzzy inference rules for the sensory evaluation

This study concerns designing effective fuzzy inference rules, which can be used to evaluate other experiment sets for sensory tests. The number of fuzzy inference rules might be determined by the fuzzy division of variables. For the more the number of fuzzy division does not mean the more effectiveness, the number of inference rules should be reduced to improve efficiency of inference engine of expert system. This study verified that its suggested method and inference rules are effective in comparison with the existing studies.
Permanent Magnet Excitation in Small Axial Flux Driver with MR Sensor and Thin Film Multilayer Winding

The disc type driver with Nd-Fe-B magnet is one of the servo drivers, which have many applications in various fields. For efficient and easy, it is desirable to be small and thin in its size. However, the driver which uses a conventional wire reel is very difficult to be reduced in its volume. one of alternatives to achieve the above goal is the thick film multilayer winding. The winding method will significantly reduce the total volume of the driver. Therefor this paper proposed the thick film multilayer winding methods and consists of parts: design manufactures, properties and applications.
The Contrast Analysis of Counter-beam for Tunnel Visibility

Good visibility is essential for drivers. Especially it may be critical when drivers are passing through a tunnel. Lighting is one of the major factors that contribute to or detract from visibility in a tunnel. In order to enhance the visibility a new lighting technique has been proposed: counter-beam. This paper proposes a new scheme for tunnel lighting design and analyzes the counter-beam lighting technique by showing the contrast effect of it. Different situations are set and simulated. This study is expected to contribute improving the visibility in tunnels.
Unconstrained Handwritten Numeral Sti-ing Recognition by Using Decision Value Generator

This paper presents recognition of unconstrained handwritten numeral strings using decision value generator, which is combined with both isolated digit identifier and recognizer designed with structural characteristics of digits. Numerical string recognition system is composed of three modules, which are pre-segmentation, segmentation and recognition. Pre-segmentation module classifies a numeral string into sub-images, which are isolated digit, touched digits or broken digit, using confidence value of decision value generator. Segmentation module segments touched digits using reliability value of decision value generator that will separate the leftmost digit from touched string of digits. Segmentation-based and segmentation-free methods have used for classification and segmentation, respectively. To evaluate proposed method, experiments have carried out with handwritten numeral strings of NIST SD19 and higher recognition performance than previous works has obtained with 96.7%.

Manufacturing firms have to recognize the fact that trust, long-term relationship with supplier through collaboration is able to contribute to improving their competitiveness. However, developing these relationships is able to contribute to improving their competitiveness. However, developing these relationships have proved quite challenging. Supplier development takes much cooperation, coordination, and collaboration to build and manage their relationships in order to lower costs, reduce lead times, improve the quality of products, optimize inventories and facilitate products development.
