A Study on the Knowledge Measurement md Sharing Methodology at the Knowledge-Oriented Organization
Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 1~19
Internet based on web service is growing rapidly and the effort to standardize the next generation web is world-widely being made. When the web was developed for the first time, HTTP, HTML, and URL were designed based on the structure of text background. Through those, asynchronous search and simple, unified expression patterns have been used. But recently many data on internet are becoming complicated. Consequently new structure and expression patterns including synchronous multimedia information are requested. The currently used standard language among user interface domain of W3C is SMIL which is XML-based one. SMIL describes where and how long the multimedia factors are integrated on the web. In this paper the standardization trend and important issues related to SMIL are reviewed and analyzed. Also the development of technology is discussed.
An Efficient Path-Based Multicast Algorithm in Wormhole-Routed Net works
Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 20~28
In this paper, we present an efficient path-based multicast algorithm in wormhole-routed mesh networks. Our algorithm is based on a network partitioning strategy that uses two Hamiltonian paths. In the previous studies, only on a network partitioning strategy that uses two Hamiltonian paths. In the previous studies, only one Hamiltonian path was used. Thus messages traverse mire horizontal channels than vertical ones, leading to earlier network congestion. By incorporating additional vertical Hamiltonian path as well as the horizontal Hamiltonian path, messages are distributed evenly as much as possible, thus making network evenly as much as possible, thus making network performance better. We prove that this algorithm is deadlock-free. And by extensive simulations, we show that this algorithm is superior to the previous ones by 15∼20%.
Associative Memory Model for Time Series Data
Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 29~34
In this paper, a new associative memory system for analog time-sequential data processing is proposed. This system effectively associate time-sequential data using not only matching with present data but also matching with past data. Furthermore in order to improve error correction ability, weight varying in time domain is introduced in this system. The network is simulated with several periodic time-sequential input patterns including noise. The results show that the proposed system has ability to correct input errors. We expect that the proposed system may be applied for a real time processing of analog time-sequential information.

Park, Jin-Soo ;
Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 51~64
Schema integration is one of the most difficult issues in the heterogeneous and distributed geographic database systems (GDSs). As the use of spatial information in various application areas becomes increasingly popular, the integration of geographic information has become a crucial task for decision makers. Most existing schema integration techniques described in the database literature, however, do not address the problems of managing heterogeneities among complex objects that contain visual data and/or spatial and temporal information. The difficulties arise not only from the semantic conflicts, but also from the different representations of spatial models. Consequently, it is much more complex to achieve interoperability in the area of geographic databases. This research attempts to provide a solution to such problems. The research reported in this paper describes a schema integration methodology and a prototype toolkit developed to assist in schema integration activities for GDSs.
A study on the control chart pattern for detecting shifts using neural network in start-up process
Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 65~70
This Paper Propose the control chart Pattern to provide a more comprehensive scheme for detecting process shifts using individual observations in start-up process. In this paper, which uses the backpropagation algorithm two samples are fed into the trained neural network to provide outputs ranging from 0 to 1. The main advantage of using neural networks approach with a control chart is that the neural network has almost no delay in detecting small shift. This paper illustrates how neural networks can provide a useful method for optimizing parameter(connection weights) that affect process control. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed control chart using the neural network (NNCC) is quite promising.
Design of an Intelligent Tutoring System based on Web Learning Assessment
Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 71~78
Since web-based tutoring systems are generally composed with passive and static hypertext, they could not provide adaptive learning environments according to learning ability of each student. In this study, we suggest an intelligent tutoring system, which grasps the learning state of student and provides each student with dynamic learning materials suitable to individual feature based on learning result. It is an agent based system, in which, courseware knowledge for learning is effectively constructed, the proper feedback according to learning assessment is inferred, and it is given to each student.
The EMG Measurement of Simple and Iterative Worker′s Muscle Fatigue
Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 79~86
The CTD(Cumulative Trauma Disorder) as a new kind of occupational disease occurs mainly to workers on handling line under the highly-specialized industrial environments. This study took into account their exposure to Cumulative Trauma Disorders(CTD) by the utilization of EMG system, with respect to worker's muscle fatigue test according to fulfillment of iterative and simple task. The findings of this study were as follows : From the result of AEMG test analysis, worker's fatigue extent according to elapsed time of task was inclined to be increased continually. On the other hand, after its task ending, their fatigue extent was inclined to be decreased than before-circumstance of refractory brick lifting. The transference of MF(Median Frequency) and MPF(Mean Power Frequency) had highly significant difference between muscle fatigue and the elapsed time of work. Especially, their fatigue extent to erectorspinae and multifidus to lift firebrick was increased in the mean time. The transference of ZCR(Zero Crossing Rate) had considerable significant difference between muscle fatigue and the elapsed time of work. In short, as the work went of the muscle fatigue extent increased gradually. Thus, it can be concluded that the fatigue of erectorspinae and multifidus extent according to fulfillment of iterative and simple task is gradually being increased.

Nowadays, both large and small business organizations have been using the Internet in general or the World Wide Web in particular to cope with the global competition. One of the major purposes that these business organizations utilizations utilize the World Wide Web is to support their marketing activities. In this study, we compared the uses of the World Wide Web, for supporting seven different categories of marketing activities, among three different groups of companies: the Top US corporation, the Top Non-US corporation, and the Top Web site groups. Results of the study showed that companies in the ToP US corporation and the ToP Non-US corporation groups primarily focused on Public Relation, while companies in the Top Web site group emphasized Encouragement. The Top US corporations also focused on the Interactive Brochure and the Top Web site companies were significantly different from the Top Non-US corporations with regard to Direct Sales and Customization. We discussed the potential reasons for these similarities and differences. The study also provided the extension for future research and discussed its limitations.
An Investigation of the Factors Influence Database Marketing Sophistication
Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 95~106
Rapidly changing today's market requires new and innovative marketing approaches. Relationship marketing is one of the innovative marketing approaches. The key elements of the relationship marketing concept are the attraction, maintenance and enhancement of customer relationships for competitive advantage. Customer information provides the foundation for relationship marketing activities within an organization. Relationship marketing is not possible without the development and use of a database marketing system. Often the greatest obstacle in achieving advantage from relationship marketing is the development of a database marketing system. Thus, it is imperative marketers identify the characteristics necessary for successful database marketing if they hope to practice relationship marketing. A lot of researchers conclude that organizational barriers are the true, key critical issues in obtaining competitive advantage from database marketing. While Fletcher, et al. found strong evidence f the importance of organizational variables on database marketing, this area of research is largely unexplored. The objective of this research is to provide additional empirical evidence of the relationship between organizational variables and database marketing sophistication.
A Study on Spoken Digits Analysis and Recognition
Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 107~114
This paper describes Connected Digit Recognition with Considering Acoustic Feature in Korea. The recognition rate of connected digit is usually lower than word recognition. Therefore, speech feature parameter and acoustic feature are employed to make robust model for digit, and we could confirm the effect of Considering. Acoustic Feature throughout the experience of recognition. We used KLE 4 connected digit as database and 19 continuous distributed HMM as PLUs(Phoneme Like Units) using phonetical rules. For recognition experience, we have tested two cases. The first case, we used usual method like using Mel-Cepstrum and Regressive Coefficient for constructing phoneme model. The second case, we used expanded feature parameter and acoustic feature for constructing phoneme model. In both case, we employed OPDP(One Pass Dynamic Programming) and FSA(Finite State Automata) for recognition tests. When appling FSN for recognition, we applied various acoustic features. As the result, we could get 55.4% recognition rate for Mel-Cepstrum, and 67.4% for Mel-Cepstrum and Regressive Coefficient. Also, we could get 74.3% recognition rate for expanded feature parameter, and 75.4% for applying acoustic feature. Since, the case of applying acoustic feature got better result than former method, we could make certain that suggested method is effective for connected digit recognition in korean.
Fast Scene Change Detection Algorithm in Compressed Video by a phased-approach Method
Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 115~122
A scene change detection is an important step for video indexing and retrieval. This paper proposes an algorithm by a phased algorithm for fast and accurate detection of abrupt scene changes in an MPEG compressed domain with minimal decoding requirements and computational effort. The proposed method compares two successive I-frames for locating a scene change occurring within the GOP and uses macroblock-coded type information contained in B-frames to detect the exact frame where the scene change occurred. The algorithm has the advantage of speed, simplicity and accuracy. In addition, it requires less amount of storage. The experiment results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has better detection performance, such as precision and recall rate, than the existing method using all DC images.
The CMOS RF model parameter for high frequency communication circuit design
Journal of the Korea Industrial Information Systems Research, volume 6, issue 3, 2001, Pages 123~127
The prediction method of the parameter C/sub gs/ of CMOS transistor is proposed by calculating the mobil charge in inversion layer of COMS transistor. This parameter C/sub gs/ decided on the cutoff frequency in MOS transistor in RF range and coupled input and output. This parameter C/sub gs/ in RF range is very important parameter in small signal circuit model. This proposed method is contributed to developing software of extracting parameter value in equivalent circuit model. The method provide the important information to construct a RF nonlinear model for multifinger gate MOSFET. This method will be very valuable to develop a large signal MOSFET model for nonlinear RF IC design.
