Electronic Catalogue Based Cutting Parameter Selection

This study presents an electronic catalogue based cutting parameter selection system using MS Access software. The proposed system has been designed to electronically select proper cutting conditions based on the stored data base. The existing approaches used in most small and medium sized companies are basically to use manufacturing engineer's experience or to find the recommended values from the manufacturing engineer handbook. These processes are often time consuming and inconsistent, especially when a new engineer is involved. Therefore, this study proposes a simple, yet quick and consistent electronic catalogue based cutting parameter selection method which uses MS Access in terms of programming and database implementation. Consequently, the proposed system could automatically generate the proper cutting conditions (feed, depth of cut, and cutting speed) as soon as the input data (proper information about the tool and work material) is given. Thanks to the simple structure and popularity of the MS Access, the engineer could be quickly accustomed to the system and easily modify/insert/delete the database if necessary.
A Broadband U-Slot Microstrip Antenna

In this paper, the aperture-coupled U-slot microstrip patch antenna is studied for the bandwidth improvement. The aperture is used as a mechanism for coupling the radiating element to the microstrip feedline, and the aperture-coupled configuration provides the advantage of isolating spurious feed radiation by the use of common ground plane. Experimental results such as return loss, VSWR, radiation pattern and gain measurements are presented on the aperture-coupled U-slot microstrip patch antenna. The impedance bandwidth (VSWR≤2) of the antenna is 6.4% centered at 2.35GHz, and the average gain is 5.3 dBi.
The CTD Evaluation or Simple and Iterative Task through the Improvement of Working Conditions

Recently, as work strength is deepened, as well, labor environments is changed, simple and iterative worker's Cumulative Trauma Disorders(CTD) is gradually being increased. Accordingly, this study was designed to represent its system design to carry out their iterative and simple task by machine through the difference of muscle fatigue between worker on handling line and worker under the work environments by Air Balance System for the purpose of analyzing their muscle fatigue test according to fulfillment of iterative and simple task. From the result of this study, with regard to the comparison of muscle fatigue between work on handling line and work on automation line on the occasion of refractory brick loading, their muscle fatigue extent under the work environments by Air Balance system was lower than it of handling by AMEG(64.1%), MF(65.3%), MPF(64.3%), ZCR(63.6%) respectively. And also, generally there showed similar transfer at the aspect of muscle mobilization. In other words, we can say that work environments by Air Balance System is beneficial at the aspect of alleviating works' fatigue extent on handling line. As well, the result of this study shows that worker's exposure to Cumulative Trauma Disorders(CTD) is relatively low.
Coupling Measures for Classes in Object-Oriented System

As the importance of software measurement increases, there are more researches developing the new software measure. Given the importance of object-oriented development techniques, one specific area where this has occurred is coupling measurement in object-oriented systems. This thesis presents the coupling measure COM based on the methods and OOC based on the classes in measuring the coupling of object-oriented systems. And, it evaluates them using the coupling properties suggested by Briand while it compares them with other coupling measures by applying them to a system developed in the language of C++programming language.
A Study on the Manufacturing Performance with ERP Systems

An enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is an enterprise wide management system made possible by information technology. Organizations have been implementing ERP packages for integrating the business process in various functions. ERP has been helping companies to automate their entire business processes within the organization as a whole instead of just in some functional units. This paper presents five case studies indicating that enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems do enhance the performance of manufacturing organizations. The ERP systems studied are from SAP, Baan, and Oracle. In all five cases, better cross-functional integration was a critical success factor.
A Software Architecture Design Environment for Real-time Systems

Software architecture serves as a framework for understanding system component and their interrelationships. Software architectures can be reusable assets to achieve low costs, high productivity, and consistent quality. We have developed a software architecture design environment, called Happy Work. In this paper, we would like to present the structure and functions of Happy Work. Happy Work has two main functions. First, it provides a graphic editor for modeling of software architecture diagram. Second, it provides an ADL, called HWL(HappyWork language). HWL is a language that describes software architecture.
Design and Implementation of a Low Noise Amplifier for the Base-station of IMT-2000

A three-stage low noise amplifier(LNA) for the Base-station of the IMT-2000 is designed and implemented. In the first stage, a GaAs HJt-FET which has good noise characteristics is made use of. Monolithic microwave integrated circuits(MMICS) are used in the second and the third stage to achieve both the high gain and high output power. Although the balanced amplifier is used to reduce the input VSWR, it is done only in the first stage because we have to minimize the noise figure attributed to the phase difference of the balanced amplifier. It is shown that the implemented LNA has the gai over 39.74dB, the gain flatness less than ±0.4dB, the noise figure below 0.97dB, input and output VSWRs less than 1.2, and OIP₃(output third order intercept point) of 38.17dBm in the operating frequency range.
Performance Evaluation of One Channel B-WLL IF Receiver System

In this thesis, We analyze performance evaluation of one channel B-WLL IF receiver system. Among the item of receiver performance, inter-modulation interference and yield analysis is especially focused. Since inter-modulation interference cause bad influence on system performance due to unwanted third order harmonic located in desired frequency band, third order harmonic causing inter-modulation interference should be efficiently removed. Yield analysis is observing influence on system performance when system element parameter is statistically varied, and in this thesis, system output is observed for LNA parameters. Additionally, Scheme for LNA gain adjustment to reduce inter-modulation interference is proposed by observing variation of third order harmonic output for LNA gain variation.
Inevitable vs. Evitable : An Attempt Identify the Appropriate Battlegrour for Virtual Teams

A dominant idea is that because virtual members trust one another less than do the non-virtual and therefore the traditional face-to face teams are better than the virtual, the virtual team can be organized to cope with the inevitable, restrictive situation in which they cannot organize a team with face-to-face meetings. However, we believe that even if a manager coping with a certain problem can organize a face-to-face team (evitable situation), there might be some areas or cases in which organizing a virtual team is better than organizing a face-to-face team. This paper suggests it is important for practical managers to identify when(for which situations) the virtual teams are most suitable and can be successful without losing trust.
A research on the actual condition of technological competitiveness factors of small and medium enterprises

This study presents the useful information for manufacturing industry-based development strategies at which Kangwondo province should aim, using the existing survey materials, interviews, and questionnaires. To analyze the technological competitive level of major eight enterprises in Kangwondo province, a synthetic evaluation has been conducted for areas such as new technology development, product development, production technology, and technological competitiveness. The study reveals that, among the technological competitiveness related factors, the managing status of business results, comparing analysis of business results, the applications of industrial property right, the registration of industrial property right, and the domestic and foreign certification show lower level than the other factors.
Chaotic Synchronization of Using HVPM Model

In this paper, we propose a new chaotic synchronization algorithm of using HVPM(Hyperchaotic Volume Preserving Maps) model. The proposed chaotic equation, that is, HVPM model which consists of three dimensional discrete-time simultaneous difference equations and shows uniquely random chaotic attractor using nonlinear maps and modulus function. Pecora and Carrol have recently shown that it is possible to synchronize a chaotic system by sending a signal from the drive chaotic system to the response subsystem. We proposed coupled synchronization algorithm in order to accomplish discrete time hyperchaotic HVPM signals. In the numerical results, two hyperchaotic signals are coupled and driven for accomplishing to the chaotic synchronization systems. And it is demonstrated that HVPM signals have shown the chaotic behavior and chaotic coupled synchronization.
A Study on the Features for Building Korean Digit Recognition System Based on Multilayer Perceptron

In this paper, a Korean digit recognition system based on a multilayer Perceptron is implemented. We also investigate the performance of widely used speech features, such as the Mel-scale filterbank, MFCC, LPCC, and PLP coefficients, by applying them as input of the proposed recognition system. In order to build a robust speech system, the experiments for demonstrating its recognition performance for the clean data as well as corrupt data are carried out. In experiments of recognizing 20 Korean digit, we found that the Mel-scale filterbank coefficients performs best in terms of recognition accuracy for the speech dependent and speech independent database even though noise is considerably added.
A New Design Method for Multisection Impedance Transformer Based on the Inverse Scattering

A new design method of the microwave multisection impedance transformer is proposed. This method is based on the inverse scattering theory using the frequency domain reflection coefficient of the transformer to be designed. In the first step, the permittivity profile of a virtual one-dimensional dielectric medium is reconstructed using the desired reflection coefficient. In the second step, the transformer which is equivalent to the reconstructed dielectric medium in view of reflection characteristics is synthesized. Theoretically, this method can be used to design the impedance matching transformers with arbitrary passband characteristics within the limit of the Bode-Fano criteria. Our approach is examined for two design examples to show that it is valid.
