An empirical study on the operation of Quality Management in small and medium-sized enterprises -Focused on the consortium-participating companies of Gangwon-do-

This study is concerned with the operational methods of Quality Management employed by the small and medium-sized companies in Gang won-do to improve their power of competition. This study is particular, studied the consortium-participating companies on their Plans of Quality Management as to how they carry them out in order to advance to the first-class business enterprises. The results of this study showed that the of shortage manpower and funds that the local small and mediumsized companies commonly face played a significant role as major obstacles in implementing their Quality Management programs. The study results also suggest that it is necessary to promote some periodic manpower train- ing programs in cooperation with local universities, to utilize professors and experts to build management strategies that can bring and secure the power of competition, and to construct a system of educational-industrial cooperation, as ways leading these companies to the 21s1 century's type of business enterprise.
A Scheme for Protecting Security Rules in Intrusion Detection System

This paper moses a method to solve the weakness in Snort, the network based intrusion detection system. Snort which is the rule-based intrusion detection system dose not supports a protection method for their own rules which are signatures to detect intrusions. Therefore the purpose of this paper is to provide a scheme for protecting rules. The system with the proposed scheme could support integrity and confidentiality to the rules.
Congestion Control and Differentiated Services based Pricing

In the current bandwidth mechanism, ISPs provide guaranteed internet bandwidth within itself domains. Also transmission of data through the network can cause congestion. An inevitable consequence is partly responsible for the difficulties to ISPs and customers. In economic views, multiple demands for a scarce resource are mediated through a bandwidth market. Using the auction-based admission algorithm In price congestion, I propose a different pricing scheme for statistically guaranteed QoS.
Efficient Scientific Computation on WP Parallel Computer

The Lanczos algorithm is the most commonly used in approximating a small number of extreme eigenvalues for symmetric large sparse matrices. Global communications in MP(Message Passing) parallel computer decrease the computation speed. In this paper, we introduce the s-step Lanczos method, and s-step method generates reduction matrices which are similar to reduction matrices generated by the standard Lanczos method. One iteration of the s-step Lanczos algorithm corresponds to s iterations of the standard Lanczos algorithm. The s-step method has the minimized global communication and has the superior parallel properties to the standard method. These algorithms are implemented on Cray T3E and performance results are presented.
Information Retrieval System : Condor

This paper is a review of the large-scale information retrieval system, CONDOR. This system was developed by the consortium that consists of Chonbuk National University, Searchline Co. and Carnegie Mellon University. This system is based on the probabilistic model of information retrieval systems. The multi-language query processing, online document summarization based on query and dynamic hierarchy clustering of this system make difference of other systems. We test this system with 30 million web documents successfully.
Edge Detection Using an Ant System Algorithm

This paper presents a meta-heuristic solution technique, Ant System (AS)algerian to solve edge detection problem. We define the quality of edge in terms of dissimilarity, continuity, thickness and length. We cast edge detection as a problem in cost minimization. This is achieved by the formulation of a cost function that inversely evaluates the quality of edge configuration. Twelve windows for enhancing dissimilarity regions based on the valid edge structures are used. The AS algorithm finds the optimal set of edge pixels based on the cost function. The experimental results show that the properly reduced set of edge pixels could be found regardless how complicated the image is.
Segmentation of Multispectral Brain MRI Based on Histogram

In this paper, we propose segmentation algorithm for MR brain images using the histogram of T1-weighted, T2-weighted and PD images. Segmentation algorithm is composed of 3 steps. The first step involves the extraction of cerebrum images by ram a cerebrum mask over three input images. In the second step, peak ranges are determined from the histogram of the cerebrum image. In the final step, cerebrum images are segmented using coarse to fine clustering technique. We compare the segmentation result and processing time according to peak ranges. Also compare with the other segmentation methods. The proposed algorithm achieved better segmentation results than the other methods.
Introduction to 3D game character production skill for 3D on-line game

The game & multimedia industry is a high-valued industry comparing to any industry. Also, it has been shown the possibility as considerably bright future industry due to a development of the Internet, an explosive growth of on-line game market, and a union with virtual reality technology Since an on-line game having a clear profit model is expanding to PC and other platform, it brings to us a large change throughout the whole game industry. In order to develop a game, we need a number of elements. A game character among them delivers to a user the overall characteristics of a game as a visual representation and makes us access to a game directly and sensuously. A game character of on-line game is considerable in an operation in the volume of initial sales from a viewpoint of marketing. In addition, it affects to secure users and be immersed in a game. In this paper, we propose a production skill of an efficient 3D game character for 3D on-line game.
Design and Implementation of a High Performance Web Crawler

A Web crawler is an important Internet software technology used in a variety of Internet application software which includes search engines. As Internet continues to grow, implementations of high performance web crawlers are urgently demanded. In this paper, we study how to support dynamic scheduling for a multiprocess-based web crawler. For high peformance, web crawlers are usually based on multiprocess in their implementations. In these systems, crawl scheduling which manages the allocation of web pages to each process for loading is one of the important issues. In this paper, we identify issues which are important and challenging in the crawl scheduling. To address the issue, we propose a dynamic crawl scheduling framework and subsequently a system architecture for a web crawler with dynamic crawl scheduling support. And we analysed the behaviors of Web crawler. Based on the analysis result, we suggest the direction for the design of high performance Web crawler.
A Study on Relative Importance of Knowledge Management Success Factors Using Analytic Hierarchy Process

A firm is very difficult to find sustainable competitive weapons due to global competition and rapid changes in business environments. As a sequence, an increasing number of organizations are focusing their attention on utilizing knowledge management which can effectively disperse, share, and create information and knowledge. Therefore, this study is purposed to investigate success factors of knowledge management through AHP techniques, to analyze the relative importance among success factors, and to contribute to the organizations which have a plan to introduce KMS by providing theoretical background.

With the development of the Internet, the behavioral manner of offline world has been introduced into online sites. One of representative areas is the Internet banking. The number of the Internet banking users has continually increased. But researches on the characteristics of online users are not enough to prevent any mistakes in online world. They haven't studied any rules that guarantee safety in the Internet. This paper studies the design of main homepage of banks. It tries to study the web design colors in the homepages of banks and give reliable color system that can be used in homepage design
Estimation of Reliability for a Parallel System with Dependent Exponential Components

In this paper, we study the estimation of reliability function for a parallel system with k dependent exponential components. We assume that the failure of one of the k components changes the life distribution of the remaining components. Also, we compare with Cramer-Rna lower bound for variances of the minimum variance unbiased estimator, and the mean square errors of the maximum likelihood estimator of reliability system with the through the Monte Carlo simulation.
