A case study on elementary school students' opportunity of class presentation by observation
Kim, Dal-Hyo ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 20, issue 3, 2008, Pages 343~357
Generally, schooling is implemented by instruction in the classroom. And instruction is made progress by concrete interaction through teacher's question and students' answer or presentation. According to a lot of researches on teacher-student interaction, student's opportunity of class presentation is influenced by students' self-esteem, learning attitude, academic achievement, and relationships. And students' opportunity of class presentation is very important not only students but also social equality and democracy. Therefore, teachers have to recognize the importance of students' opportunity of class presentation. However, according to many referential researches, students' opportunity of class presentation is differentiated by students' academic ability and social-economic status. The purpose of this study was to ascertain whether students' opportunity of class presentation was differentiated by students' academic ability and social-economic status or not. The method of this study was used checklist, interview, and class observation for a month. This study indicates that in spite of some exceptional cases, many students were taken the opportunity of class presentation differently by his/her academic ability and social-economic status. And teacher does not recognize that whether she gives student's opportunity of class presentation differently or not. To be a good teacher, teacher should reflect that teaching students is not easy, and teaching students is very important. And teacher should recognize that her speaking, action, and interaction with students including students' opportunity of class presentation influences students' self-esteem, learning attitude, academic achievement, and relationships.

Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 20, issue 3, 2008, Pages 369~380
The government has promoted the local fishing port construction project since 1972 for conquest of the crisis of the fishing village by withering of a fishery, the improvement in fishermen's living environment and quality of life, and promotion of fisheries. In order to estimate the local fishing port construction project objective and synthetically, and to grope for the method proposal of system establishment of the project, the monitoring survey was carried out. The monitoring survey was classified into the program and the performance monitoring. The program monitoring was carried out in order to investigate the project fit for the inhabitants of a fishing village. The performance monitoring was carried out in order to investigate the development latent powers, fishery latent powers, tourism latent powers of a fishing village, rural settlement conditions, etc. using various statistical materials. Since investigating the measured value before executing a policy was not completed, the project effect was compared with the measured value of other areas. According to the local fishing port construction project, the development latent powers, fishery latent powers, and tourism latent powers of the fishing village where the project was undertaken improved greatly, and income of the fishing village increased greatly. As a result of comparing project fit in order to evaluate the project, the project fit of the local fishing port construction project area was higher than the non-project area. Desirable method proposal of monitoring survey was established and the method for raising the efficiency of monitoring survey was extracted.

Boo, Jung-Min ; Kweon, Soon-Yong ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 20, issue 3, 2008, Pages 390~399
The purpose of this study is to clarify variables dichotomizing adolescents into online game addiction-latency group and non-addiction group. Based on ecologic theory, individual system(self-esteem, self-control, depression, stress-coping strategy), family system(parental support), and social system(teachers' support and peer-group support) were suggest for variables affecting online game addiction of adolescents. 612 adolescents were tested for game addiction, self-esteem, self-control, depression, stress-coping strategy, and social supports from parents, teachers, and peer group. Independent t-tests showed between-group differences in self-esteem, self-control, depression, aggressive, and negative-avoiding stress-coping strategies, parental support, and peer-group support. Binary logistic regression analyses revealed that aggressive stress-coping strategy of social system and peer-group support of social system had significant influences on the division of the groups.

Park, Jong-soo ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 20, issue 3, 2008, Pages 400~409
The purpose of this study is to examine annual changes of coastal fisheries production in the shore of Jeonbuk Province in Korea. The catch data of an experimental vessel that used dredge nets were used to study fish species and catch per unit of fishing effort carried out from April 2002 to November 2004. The total number of fish species caught in 2002 was 23, and 15 in 2004. Total number of individuals were 6,008 and their total weight was 376.38 kg in 2002. In 2004, total number of fishes was 2,469, and their weight was 211.99 kg. The annual changes in fisheries production in the western coast of Korea were also analyzed from 1990 to 2007. The total near shore fisheries products in Korea has been relatively stable around 1,4000,000 metric tons to 1,8000,000 tons during this period. Similarly the Chungnam Province's annual fish catch had steadily risen from about 51,187 tons in 1990 to 85,637 tons in 2007. However, Jeonbuk Province's annual fish catch declined dramatically at around 133, 000 tons in 1990 to 45,000 tons in 2007. In summery, while the overall Korea's fisheries production has been stable over the past decade, that of Jeonbuk Province suffered drastic decline in the period. This decline was reflected in the decreased number of fish species, total individuals, and total catch in surverys performed with an experimental vessel.

To evaluate the performance of nucleate boiling heat transfer between a plain and micro-fin surfaces, the experimental tests have been carried out under various conditions with fluorinert liquid FC-72, which is chemically and electrically stable. Two kinds of micro fins with the dimensions of
(width x height) were fabricated on the surface of a silicon chip. The experiments were performed on the liquid subcooling of 5, 10 and 20K under the atmospheric condition. The presented data showed a similar trend in the comparison with result of Rainey & You. Due to its expanded surface areas, the heat flux properties has been significantly enhanced on micro-fin surface comparing to the plain surface.
Study on the Freight Forwarding System of Advanced Shipping Country - A Case of United States of America System -
Kim, Se-Won ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 20, issue 3, 2008, Pages 416~428
In the end of 2007, Korea Government promulgated the Rule of 'Basic Act of Logistics Policy' for improving international logistics forwarding business. The goals of these rules are to achieve the development of our nation's economics for providing the security and efficiency of logistics system and enforced competition of logistics enterprises. This is established the basic principles of the legal basis for expanding into the Logistics Hub Center of North-east Asia. However In May 1999 new licensing requirements for ocean freight forwarders and NVOCCs operating in the USA were established by the US Federal Maritime Commission(FMC). Due to these regulations, each ocean transportation service provider in the USA acting as ocean freight forwarder, NVOCCs, or NVOCC agent must obtain a license to operate as Ocean Transportation Intermediary(OTI) before it begins operations. Only licensed OTIs may act as US transportation agents or receiving agents of other NVOCCs, on both US exports and imports. In this context, I think this study will be contributes for the development of korean freight forwarding system by analysis and comparing with between the Rule of the Basic Act of Logistics Policy of Korea and OTI freight forwarder & NVOCCs of USA.

Lee, Sang-Go ; Shin, Yong-Min ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 20, issue 3, 2008, Pages 429~441
The purpose of this study aims at analyzing the profit from manage a fishing place in the cultivating fishery by embankment. With the spread of the living pattern laying stress on the quality of life and the introduction of a 5-day workweek system, demand for tourism and leisure are increasing steadily and available time for them is getting longer. However, those newly-increasing demands for tourism and leisure will have a tendency of focusing on adventurous and experiential activities. From the point of view, it is needed to develop something new that can meet those kinds of demands for an experiential tourism and activity, particularly based on the cultivating fishery by embark a bay. Marine recreational fishing is one of the most popular outdoor leisures and the number of people who are participating is sharply increasing more and more because of the increasement of their income and demand for marine leisure. In this regard, this paper is focused on the economic analysis a fishing place in the cultivating fishery by embankment. According to the analysis result, the cultivating fishery by embankment is a profitable business operating fishing place in their place.
Fisheries Countermeasures Against Rising Oil Prices
Park, Seong-Kwae ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 20, issue 3, 2008, Pages 442~451
The purpose of this study is to analyze the impacts of the rapid rise in oil prices on fisheries economy. Even though fishery oils are tax exemption items, such increase in oil prices put a great amount of pressure on Korean fishing operations. Because basically the recent oil shock is externally given, Korean fisheries themselves have little capacity to cope with the disruption of economic environments. The research results turned out that Korean fisheries are extremely vulnerable(or fragile) to external shocks. In this regard, government support issues of oil costs are in the center of debate. It is widely recognized that direct/indirect government financial supports or subsidies would result in economic inefficiency in expense of equity. However, there are second best theories which may justify government intervention into the markets. This second best theory is translated into the constitutional law that instructs the government to protect and promote the primary industries including fisheries, agriculture, and midium/small-scale enterprises. It is apparent that the constitutional law would provide the government with a variety of policy instruments such as more active buy-back programs, tax exemptions and technological development to deal with fisheries economic hardship due to the external pressure such as high oil prices and international fishery orders.

Heo, Gyun ; Kang, Seung-Hee ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 20, issue 3, 2008, Pages 454~464
Education is a field that has tried to make use of the advantages of computers since they were introduced to the world. Intelligent Tutoring System and multimedia have become methods of teaching students of Computer Science, Education, Psychology, and Cognitive Science. Until now, they have been designed and produced only on the basis of a very specific domain and format. However, in the education field, most learners ask for integrated service that is practical, realizable, and sensitive to technological change. Therefore, in this study, we would like to present the technological and formal integration model as an ITS model which acknowledges changes in the fields of technology and education. As a technological integration model, the integration model of traditional Symbolic Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Neural Networks was presented. As a formal integration model, three integration models were presented according to (a) the process of learning diagnosis (b) learners' action behaviors (c) intelligence service respectively.
An International Comparative Study of 'Experiment' Presentation of Science Textbooks of Korea, Japan, and China
Byeon, Hyo-Jong ; Baik, Mi-Hwa ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 20, issue 3, 2008, Pages 474~487
This study was to compare 'experiment' presentation types of middle school science textbooks of Korea, Japan, and China and to draw some implication for the improvement of Korean science textbooks. It analyzed the experiments from the unit ‘Light' of science textbooks which is common content in all three different science textbooks. The researchers analyzed the experiments with two questions. First, how is the experiment organized? Second, what role does each element of the experiment is playing in the experiment setting? The findings of international comparative analysis of experiment presentation types of middle school science textbooks of three countries were as follows. First, the Korean and Chinese textbooks tended to present the experiments without enough information for the experimental process and method, whereas the Japanese textbook tended to present the experiment with detailed information for the experimental method and process. Second, whereas the Korean and Chinese textbooks tended to have a loosened relationship among pre-experimental content, experiment, after-experiment content, the Japanese textbook tended to have an organic relationship among pre-experimental content, experiment, after-experiment content.
Analysis and Assessment of Environmental Factors in the Small Scale Marine Ranch around the Gunsan Coastal Areas
Kim, Jong-Hwa ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 20, issue 3, 2008, Pages 488~500
This study was analyzed and assessed the environmental factors on small marine ranching sites around Gunsan Coast, West Sea of Korea. Standards of assessment are followed in the reports on the choice of marine ranching sites and regulation factors of proper site on marine artificial reefs of MOMAF. Max. current speed around Gunsan were ranged between 25.52 ~ 57.49cm/sec. These values were satisfied by comparing assessment factor such as current speed.. Factors of temperature, salinity, transparency and pH were evaluated as the proper extent. DO was not distributed as the proper extent due to different criterion. between the same assessment factor. COD, SS and nutrients were partly suited to the criteria. Especially, SS was almost higher than that of criterion. So, we are proposed to be reflected in environment characteristics of West Coast such as SS. Moreover, the extent of pollution load factors have to be specified clearly in the regulations of assessment criteria.

Kim, Jong-Hwa ; Kim, Jong-Kyu ; Park, Byung-Soo ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 20, issue 3, 2008, Pages 509~520
This study was analyzed and assessed the bottom sediment qualities on small marine ranching sites around Gunsan Coast, West Sea of Korea. Standards of assessment are followed in the regulation factors of proper site on marine artificial reefs of marine ranching site, MOMAF. Dominant grain size was fine sand, next muddy sand, and third clay. These were satisfied by comparing assessment factor such as clay ratio. Environmental factors of water depth, bottom gradient, natural reefs were suited to the criteria as the proper extent and asking conditions. But, we propose that the extent ratio of grain size as given regulation have to be adjusted in low than grain size over 90% in regard of the bottom sediment characteristics of West Coast. Moreover, the organic extent of bottom sediment have to be specified clearly in the regulations of assessment criteria.
