A Study on of the recognition on the problem a token of parents' gratitude
KIM, Dal-Hyo ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 21, issue 2, 2009, Pages 247~258
Although the problem about a token of parents' gratitude is restricted by small number of teachers, it must be solved for normal and good schooling. The purpose of this study was to investigate the problem about a token of parents' gratitude, an extent of a token of parents' gratitude, seriousness of a token of parents' gratitude, the experience of a token of parents' gratitude, an amount of money a token of parents' gratitude, the time of a token of parents' gratitude, a compensation of a token of parents' gratitude using a questionnaire to 549 parents. And a Chi-square test was used as a research tool for this study. This study indicates that many parents recognize a token of parents' gratitude as money or gift certificate. And most parents recognize different significantly about a token of parents' gratitude according to teachers' sex, ages, level of school, and type of school. We do not need a vast and experimental revolution in education based on unproved reasoning. If we want to be normal and good schooling, we have to make an effort small changes which solve a problem of a token of parents' gratitude. Our educational policies have to move from vast approaches generated from 'above' with political purpose to more particular approaches based on specific problems and generated by the community.

JANG, Sung-Hwa ; OH, Eun-Jung ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 21, issue 2, 2009, Pages 259~268
The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship among cellular phone addiction, depression, anxiety, and school life satisfaction by examining 284 elementary school students, especially the fifth and sixth graders in Gyeonggi province. This study was done by dividing two groups with top 25 percent and the lowest 25 percent of group(addicts' group vs. non-addicts' group), and 144 out of 284 elementary school students were used for this study. According to the survey, it turned out that the significant variables to predict the addiction are school life satisfaction, learning, classroom setting, and school events, including the top variables of anxiety and depression. And a further point is that relationship satisfaction, anxiety, depression, physical setting, and class satisfaction show how much students are addicted to cellular phone. Finally, this paper suggests the limitation and efficiency of the study compared to previous studies.

A Study on the Safety of Anchoring for Ulsan M-10 Anchorage
KIM, Se-Won ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 21, issue 2, 2009, Pages 291~305
As you known well, Ulsan port is very famous for handling chemical products which occupies about 80% of quantities of all Korean ports. Many ship's operators prefer to handle liquid cargo es at proper anchorages instead of the berth for saving port expenses. Ulsan M-10 anchorage was assigned for handling liquid cargoes, however this anchorage's space is restricted by the oil pipeline which lays under seabed about 400m off from the center of M-10 anchorage, for which we have to consider of the external force and counter force for keeping the safety of anchoring. Where, external force is induced by wind, tidal currents and wave while counter force is induced by holding power of anchor/chain. In this study, author evaluated a method to analyze theoretically the limit of external force condition up to which an anchoring ship can keep her position without dragging, and for which applied to many kinds of combined Ships as mother ship of 50,000 DWT Tanker and 4 sizes of Tanker as alongsided ship.
A Study on Complementarity of Green Growth
PARK, Seong-Kwae ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 21, issue 2, 2009, Pages 306~324
The purpose of this study is to analyze green growth issues such as employment, education and training, social capital and nature's standing right from the complementary perspective between natural environment conservation and economic growth. Green growth can be defined as a growth which lowers an increasing rate of entropy and at the same time improves our living standard. Green growth paradigm requires a quite amount of understanding the laws of thermodynamics and the uncertainty principle as the highest orders which regulate our overall socio-economic behaviors. They suggest that socio-economic growth is a mere transformation process of natural energy from one form to another and they increases natural manmade entropy over time. The most important issue of green growth policy may be a problem concerning employment and/or unemployment since green growth may induce inevitable movement of resources from the existing industries to the green sector. In particular, green industries will demand more highly specialized manpower than the existing ones. Without a well-designed new training education system and social capital accumulation toward environmental concerns, green growth may accompany a substantial amount of structural involuntary frictional unemployment. This may increase not only wealth-distribution disparity but also political instability. In order to achieve harmonious green growth, we should recognize that there are important complementary relationships between green and growth. Our society should also be able to innovate the existing educational system to accumulate social capital, to create a new sharing system, and to admit nature's standing right. Although the 2003 lawsuit case of Korean Salamander in Cheonseong Mountain went against plaintiff, it would provide apparently our society with a way of green development ahead.
A Strategic Development of Ulsan Port Using SWOT/AHP Method
BAEK, In-Hum ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 21, issue 2, 2009, Pages 325~334
The aims of this study is to suggest the strategic development plan of Ulsan Port using SWOT/AHP method. In order to do this, 16 detailed factors for SWOT Matrix were identified both from previous studies and from brainstorming professionals of the port and these made into a 3 level hierarchy structure. AHP method identified the relative weight of SWOT level as threat(0.311), opportunity(0.259), strength(0.218) and weakness(0.212), also the composite relative weight of detailed factors as recession of global economy(0.125), strengthening of economic function in port(0.085), insufficiency of port facilities(0.080) and a government regulation of port management(0.075). As a result, the study suggests S/T strategy, W/T strategy, S/O strategy, W/O strategy as a strategic development plan of the Ulsan Port.
