The Relationships of Perceived attachment, Social Support and Problem Behavior of Middle School Students
Yoon, So-Jung ; Kang, Seung-Hee ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 23, issue 4, 2011, Pages 582~595
The purpose of the study was to investigate the causal relations among attachment, and social support influencing problem behavior in middle school students. The data contains 482 middle school students. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS and AMOS statistical package for correlation analysis and structural equation modeling. Study results were as follows. The correlations among attachment, social support and problem behavior were significant. The results of the structural equation modeling show that students' social support had direct positive influence on problem behavior, but students' attachment didn't have direct positive influence on problem behavior. That is to say, social support mediated the effect of attachment on problem behavior. These results imply that perceived attachment, and social support influence adolescents' problem behavior. Results suggest that programs that promote social support should be given to reduce problem behaviors of middle school students.
Case Study on Fisheries Governance of IUU Agreement between Korea and Russia
Lee, Kwang-Nam ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 23, issue 4, 2011, Pages 596~606
This article analyzed the process of concluding the Korea-Russia IUU Fishing Prevention Agreement as a model case for distant water fisheries governance. The research studied co-operations for fisheries between Korea and Russia, the current status of live crabs landed in Korea through IUU fishing and Russia's political position on the IUU issue. Also this article reviewed a series of processes executed to achieve the bilateral agreement to prevent IUU fishing, including researches, intergovernmental negotiations, institutional improvements, public hearings and presentations. There were many things closely linked together such as international FAO-IUU prevention efforts, Russia's IUU fishing issue, Korean importers of Russian live crabs, their local governments and Korean snow-crab gill-net fishermen. These issues were resolved through reasonable reconciliations. This article wants to contribute to be used as a reference for other similar IUU fisheries cases.

Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 23, issue 4, 2011, Pages 607~614
This study was conducted to understand the quality characteristics of 20 kinds of commercial salt-fermented anchovy & sand lance sauces by measuring their the chemical compositions and 9 biogenic amines (tryptamine, 2-phenylethylamine, putrescin, cadaverine, histamine, tyramine, serotonin, noradrenaline, spermine) contents. The commercial salt-fermented anchovy sauces contained
total nitrogen, and
of amino nitrogen. Histamine was the major amine detected in salt-fermented fish sauces and it was varied from 421.27 to 1,507.18 mg/kg in salt-fermented anchovy sauces, whereas commercial salt-fermented sand lance sauces contained
amino nitrogen and 419.10~1,025.50 mg/kg histamine, respectively. These findings suggest that the products of salt-fermented fish sauces have pretty much the same in ingredient composition and meet domestic criteria but most those had high biogenic amine contents. Therefore, ingredient composition and biogenic amine content of commercial salt-fermented fish sauce products were practicable evaluation of the quality characteristics.

Lee, Ju-Won ; Lee, Jung-Mi ; Na, Won-Bae ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 23, issue 4, 2011, Pages 615~625
This study presents a descriptive statistical analysis on grade characteristics and employment rates of three ocean-related departments at a university. The ocean-related departments belong to the same college along with the other six departments. To obtain the correlation between the grade characteristics and employment rates, we carried out the followings. Firstly, four-year employment rates and six-semester GPAs (grade point averages) were obtained from the nine departments. Secondly, the box-and-whisker plots were constructed for each data set to capture the grade characteristics (mean, the first quartile, median, third quartile, whisker+, and Q3 box). Finally, the grade characteristics and employment rates were correlated. It is shown from the correlation analysis that the employment rate has a positive linear relation with the mean or third quartile, while the rate has a negative linear relation with the whisker+ or Q3 box, for the ocean-related departments possibly because these departments have higher regular employment rates than those of the other six departments.

Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 23, issue 4, 2011, Pages 763~771
Development and distribution of Japanese mantis shrimp, Oratosquilla oratoria (De Haan) larvae were investigated in the northwestern water off Incheon. O. oratoria larvae were monthly collected at 15 stations from early June to early October in 2007. Bongo net with 330 and 505 um mesh was deployed in a double once with an oblique tow way. Larval densities were relatively higher in southerner stations in July and in northerner stations in August and September. No larvae were discovered in June. Zoea I and II were not captured during the entire sampling period. Zoea III occurred in July for the first time and were found until September. Thereafter, the proportion of later stages increased. The number of zoeal stages decreased during the summer months and no larvae were found in October. Of zoeal stages, zoea IV was the most abundant in number. Zoeal densities were highest in July and August, particularly at the stations near the coast. O. oratoria larvae may be retained and grow within our study sites without advection to growing areas. Non-occurrence of zoea I and II indicate that they were retained near spawning grounds or near parental burrows. Pattern of larval occurrence was coincided with previous researches conducted in conspecific distribution ranges.
