Interspecific Relationships between Coexisting Micro-organisms in the Freshwater Rotifer (Brachionus calyciflorus) Culture Tanks as Microcosm

One of freshwater rotifer (Brachionus calyciflorus) is very useful as a live food organism for early larval rearing of freshwater aquaculture industry. However, the knowledge about freshwater rotifer culture is scarce. On the other hand, marine rotifer culture as live food organisms is done, almost perfectly. In this study, I show to be benefit experimental results for successful freshwater larval rearing through the observation with microcosm structure in freshwater rotifer culture tanks.
A Study on Occupation Classification of Aquatic Disease Inspector in Korean Standard Classification of Occupations(KSCO)

The aquatic disease inspector is not classified as an occupation in the current Korean Standard Classification of Occupations(KSCO). Therefore, the roll of the aquatic disease inspector in the medical treatment and the prevention against the aquatic organism disease is underestimated. The aquatic disease inspector is in a more disadvantageous position than the pharmacist and the veterinarian. The purpose of this study is to approve the aquatic disease inspector as an occupation in KSCO. The important contents of this study are as follows. In the first place, this study looks around the general requirements of classifying the occupations in KSCO. The aquatic disease inspector satisfies the most general requirements. But, because of the similarities of job between the aquatic disease inspector and the veterinarian, the aquatic disease inspector do not satisfy the requirement for `the principle of exclusiveness`. In the second place, this study looks around the classification system of KSCO. The classification system of KSCO is consists of multi steps. This study makes the plan for the appropriate occupation classification of the aquatic disease inspector. In the third place, this study looks for the legal methods to classify the aquatic disease inspector as an occupation in KSCO. In order to classify the aquatic disease inspector as an occupation in KSCO, many regulations of the laws about the aquatic disease inspector and the veterinarian are to be amended and the number of the aquatic disease inspectors is to be increased by the innovative measures.
A Study on the Diagnosis and Improvement of Present Superintendent Election and Education Standing Committee System

This study is to diagnose the present superintendent election and education standing committee system for improvement based upon Constitutional values of local education system. The findings are the followings. To improve the election system of superintendent it is recommended to maintain present election system rather than change it drastically since the present system ensure relatively more autonomy, expertise, and political neutrality of local education system. However, the qualification such as years of educational experiences of superintendent candidates need to be restored. Regarding education standing committee it suggest that all or at least 2/3 members need to be educational representatives rather than general representatives. For superintendent as well as education standing committee election, it needs to elaborate the vote ballet such as change of candidates name order by voting place to reduce its effects to election results. It also needs to strengthen public management of election such as expenses and TV forums among candidates.
Marine Algal Assemblages on Artifical Reefs in Jeju-do Before and After Rocky Cleaning and the Growth Pattern of Ecklonia cava with Water Depth

Marine algal assemblages on the artificial reefs at three stations (Haengwon, Geumneung, Pyoseon in Jeju-do) and the growth pattern of Ecklonia cava with water depth were studied before and after rocky cleaning. Nine algal species occurred at three artificial reefs before rocky cleaning in July 2012, however, 19 algal species were found at three artificial reefs after rocky cleaning in July 2013. In particular, 13 of 19 species in 2013 were replaced by different species which were not found in July 2012. Algal biomass rapidly increased in July 2013 after rocky cleaning. The nMDS plot based on the presence and absence data of macro-algal assemblages on the artificial reefs showed that the species compositions between artificial reefs were similar to each other before rocky cleaning operations in July of 2012. However, after rocky cleaning, the species composition of macro-algal assemblages in Haengwon region was similar to that in Pyoseon region while that in Geumneung region was different to those in Haengwon and Pyseon regions in July 2013. It is needed to clarify the suitable water depth for transplantation of perennial Phaeophyta E. cava. According to the data on seasonal changes in total length, total weight, blade length, blade width, blade weight of E. cava, it began to grow rapidly from April and reached to the maximum value in June, and then degeneration of the blade occurred in July and continued to early August. Although the total length of E. cava at 10m water depth was larger than those at 5 m and 15 m water depths, there was no significant difference statistically among water depths by ANOVA test. However, in the values of total weight, blade length, blade width, and blade weight, the growth patterns at 5 m water depth were larger than those at 10 m and 15 m. Thus, it is assumed that the most suitable water depth for transplantation and its maximum growth and effective release of zoospores of E. cava will be 7~10 m water depth.

Variability factors of transship cargo in the container transportation market analysis short term factors. In the past, studies on the factor of variability in container cargo volume have focused on long term volume forecast and increase in investment and competitiveness from strategic perspectives. Unlike previous studies, this paper analyzes factors of variability in transshipment volume rapidly varying in short term and seeks measures. Since it was identified that transshipment volume depends on vessel operation cost and port volume in long term but effectively on special strategies launched by port authorities in short term, the port authority experienced rapid drop in volume should continue to observe strategies of competition ports and to make use of strategies seeking appropriate countermeasures.
The Effects of Children`s Resilience, Mothers` Parenting Style, and Family Strength on the Children`s School Adjustment

The purpose of this study was two folded. The first was to examine relationships among children`s self-resilience, their mother`s parenting style, family strength and the children`s school adjustment and the second was to investigate the relative effects of the three variables on the children`s school adjustment. To achieve the purposes, a total of 198 5th and 6th grade children and their mothers were surveyed on children`s resilience scale, parenting style scale, family strength scale, and school adjustment scale. As a results, positive relationships among the four variables were observed. Also it was founded that children`s self-resilience is the most effective, mothers` parenting style is the second, and family strength is the least factor on school adjustment. From the results the researchers suggested that early intervention is needed to enhance family strength as well as intervention to improve self-resilience in order to increase the children`s school adjustment.

Oxygen consumption (OC) of male black porgy Acanthopagrus schlegelii reared in freshwater (BFW) and seawater (BSW) during the reproductive period was
, respectively. During the non-reproductive period, it was shown as
, respectively. Thus, OC of BFW was higher than BSW both for non-reproductive and reproductive period. Also, OC increased in proportion to the rise in water temperature, and there was no difference of OC between BFW and BSW at each water temperature during the reproductive or non-reproductive period. OC of BFW and BSW showed clear circadian rhythms on photic conditions of reproductive and non-reproductive period, and the fish consumed more oxygen during the dark phase than for the light phase. In particular, OC of BFW during the reproductive period increased more sharply compared to non-reproductive period when the increase of water temperature was accompanied by the shift from dark to light phase. This implies that they react to the light more sensitively for reproductive period than for non-reproductive period.
Analysis on the Middle School Teachers` Level of Interest of Achievement Standards-based Assessment

The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of interest in the achievement evaluation system, under the assumption that the teacher is an important element of curriculum. For this study, surveys targeting the 150 middle school teachers from 6 schools in Pusan was conducted. A questionnaire based CBAM model was used as research tools. For data analysis, mean of relative strength by teacher`s level of interest was calculated. And MANOVA was used to investigate the difference among level of interest according to teachers` background such as sex, age, career, job position, and the grade they taught. The results of the analysis are summarized as follows. First, the middle school teachers` overall interest for achievement evaluation system is low. Teachers showed a typical pattern appeared in the early stages of change. They have little interest in the achievement evaluation system. And they should try to fix and change the achievement evaluation system rather than cooperate it. Second, as a result of this analysis of the difference according to teachers` background, no significant differences were found in most of the variables. Significant differences were found only in age, career, and job position from step 0. In running the post hoc, teachers who have less careers, lower positions, and younger ages had less interest in achievement evaluation system.
A Study of the Efficiency of the Labor-saving-type, Five-step-drum Net Hauler

As part of a series of studies about improving yellow croaker drift gill net fishing gear and the development of a labor-saving fishing system, we installed a labor-saving-type, five-step-drum net hauler, and a triple-V-type net hauler in 108 Daeheung-ho, a fishing boat which operates drift gill nets for yellow croakers mainly in the sea near Chu-ja Island. Net damage with the labor-saving-type, five-step-drum net hauler is lower than for the triple-V-type net hauler. In addition, there was a reduction in the standard operational crew of two people. The lead time for hauling the labor-saving net was approximately 10% and 19.2% less than for hauling the triple-V-type net hauler and for hauling by hand, respectively. It was found that there were fewer slip in fishing gear and less damage to the wing of the drum as well as less damage to the fish when the labor-saving-type, five-step-drum net hauler was used than when the triple-V-type net hauler was used. In the survey, the lead time for hauling the net was approximately 21.6% and 45.2% more effective than hauling with the triple-V-type net hauler and hauling by hand, respectively. The crew was reduced by approximately 18.2% and 25% than when hauling with the triple-V-type net hauler and hauling by hand, respectively. In addition, cessation of operation and damage to the fish were reduced when compared to the triple-V-type net hauler and hauling by hand.
A Study on the System Reorganization for Adoption of ITQs in Korea - Focusing on comparison with South Korea and Newzealand -

Although South Korea had managed fishery resources based on elements included in the fishery like fisheries licence, after agreeing on UN Convention on the law in 1999, it became inevitable to adopt TAC that regulates yield. Therefore, currently operating an indecisive system by maintaining the fisheries license system while applying TAC only to some fisheries. However, it became imperative to find ways to improve the current system as it dose not solve problems such as decrease of fishery resources and catch per unit effort, excessive input of fishing boats, rising costs for fishery management, and shortage of fishery population. For those reasons, it is time to review ITQs, which is recognized globally as the most innovative fisheries management system. To adopt the ITQs, it seems necessary to compare how the fisheries act of New Zealand which is currently most successfully operated and Fisheries Resources Management Act of Korea. To do so, in this study, the provisions on TAC of the two countries are compared to analyze the institutional necessity for Korea to adopt ITQs. The following conclusions have been made : First, it will be necessary to gradually expand the species and fisheries for which TAC is enforced, and accumulate correct data on fisheries resources. Second, while forcing traders to obtain license as well, the species and quantity of traded fisheries must be reported separately for cross-checking with the catch reported by the fisheries. Third, the number of observers must be increased and report the species and quantity of the catch to person in charge at the relevant port, and observers must check the report before disembarkation. Fourth, penalty for violating Fisheries resources management act must be enhanced, especially regarding false report of fishery activities and catch.
A Study on the Motion Sickness Incidence due to Sea State and Location of the Training Ship Kaya

For boarding comfort and pleasant boarding sensitivity of passenger in passenger ship, there are a few methods such as motion sickness rate or MSI(Motion Sickness Incidence) to assess safety of passenger ship. To find out MSI or motion sickness rate of the training vessel Kaya of Pukyong National University, we use lots of various factors: sea condition, incident angle in main sail way, economic speed, calculation position of motion sickness, sea state, work place and reduce zone of ship. In this paper, we adopted Maxsurf Seakeeper program based on Strip Theory and carefully compared theoretical results with experimental results.
An Analysis on Elementary School Teachers` Concern on Open Inquiry in Science Education

The purpose of this study was to analyze stages of the concern on open inquiry of elementary school teachers. To achieve this purpose, this study used the instruments of CBAM, including stages of concern questionnarie. The results of this study was as follows. Firstly, most teachers were in 0 stage, which meant they had little concern on open inquiry in science instruction. Secondly, the teachers who had teaching career of less than or 10 years were no more interested in open inquiry than teachers who had teaching career of 11-20 years. Thirdly, the training experience and teaching experience of open inquiry didn`t show a statistically significant difference. Based on these results, this study suggested that we need educational programs and supporting strategies to heighten concerns and enthusiasm of teachers and pre-service teachers on open inquiry in science instruction.
A Meta-Analysis on the Effectiveness of Smart-Learning

The purpose of this research was to analyze the effects of smart learning. By using meta analysis method, twenty MA and Ph.D degree papers published from 2006 to 2013 were analyzed and 104 effect sizes were calculated. Followings were the results of the research: (a) Smart learning turned out to be more statistically effective comparing to traditional education. The total mean effect size was .886 and the value of U3 was 66.53%. (b) All effect size of sub dependent variables(ie, academic achievement, learning satisfaction, learning attitude) were also effective by adapting smart learning. (c) The moderated variables likes learner characteristics, learning content, and interaction had high effect sizes. Operation system variable had a low effect size but it was not significant.
A Study on the Research Trends of Smart Learning

The purpose of this study was to find research trends of smart learning. For this, we identified the research`s characteristics such as the subject or keyword of research, method, data collection, and statistical analysis method. The 2,865 articles published from 1995 to 2013 were gathered from five Korean academic journals related to smart learning. Among them, research keyword, areas, research method, data collection method, and statistical analysis method were analyzed on 596 papers. The findings of this study were as follows: (a) Smart learning papers such keyword likes u-learning, m-learning, and smart-learning were emerging after 2006. Smart learning papers with ICT related topics were highly increased after 2000, but they were decreased after 2006. Smart learning papers with e-learning related keywords were steadily increased after 2000 through 2013. (b) The research field of deign had the highest portion in smart learning research, but managing had the lowest portion. (c) Development was mainly used as a research method. Both questionnaire and experiment were mainly used for collecting data methods. T-test and frequency analysis were mainly used as statistical analysis methods.
Factors Influencing Smartphone Addiction in High School Students in B city

Purpose of this study was conducted to investigate the factors influencing smartphone addiction of high school students. The data were collected from 351 high school students in B city and analyzed with t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression by using SPSS 18.0 program. The smartphone addiction rate was 20.8%, which the high risk group rate was 8.5% and potential risk group rate was 12.3%. The significant factors of smartphone addiction were using time in weekend, accident in using smartphone, aggression, depression, attachment to peer and behavior control of learning attitude. And these factors explained 33.4% of the variance in smartphone addiction. In conclusion, the results from this study indicated a need to develop the intervention program to prevent smartphone addiction.
A Study on the Education System of Seamen`s Competency Certificate in Small Ships under the Concerned Laws

This study was carried out to reduce the number of marine accidents on versatile small ships and to minimize the casualties. The study looked into the compulsory education systems regarding embarkation on small ships such as the Korean Marine Officers Act, conducted a survey targeting on the education receivers to suggest problems, and drew a conclusion. Conclusions are as follows. First, it is needed to give education opportunities in the system by increasing the recipients of the Ships Officers Act, and to simplify the compulsory education by separating similar courses from the education regulated by the Korean Marine Officers Act, and by establishing integrated courses suitable to each size and facility of ships. Second, in cases where the compulsory education courses of different purpose of ships by other legislations are similar, it is necessary to expand the scope of the inter-education so that corresponding year`s education is exempted. Third, by classifying the education ares, the education courses should be based on case studies and the audiovisual or field education that correlates relevant expertise should be managed within a reasonable time frame. Fourth, it is needed to enhance the education effect by converting the regular education courses to practical courses by different ships for safe navigation, and is also needed to review the system so that special courses for safe navigation can be carried out in each region on a regular basis by expanding both human and financial support of special institutions.
Suggestions for Improvement of Performance Assessment according to Achievement Evaluation

The purpose of this study was to search for the ideal role and performance assessment(PA) in the current school system of Korea, and then to propose some suggestions to improve PA, based on the previous research. The result of the study is presented below. The direction of PA application in school was made to follow the theoretical meaning of PA, to solve the problems related ti its adoption in school, and to help teachers educate students more effectively. The main goal of PA application in term of `school education` is to help students learn more effectively. That is, the assessment is not only for the evaluation, but also for improving students` learning. PA can be used to assess students` strength and weakness in terms of their academic achievement of various fields of the subject. Also, PA can be used to assess students` academic achievement as an alternative method to the multiple-choice test. Finaly, the results of this study propose some suggestions about how to conduct PA in school to the stakeholders such as educational authorities, schools, teachers, students and parents.
Effects of Water Temperature and Salinity on Blood Properties and Oxygen Consumption in Hagfish (Eptatretus burgeri)

Hagfish Eptatretus burgeri is classified as a agnathans and has many different physiological properties compared with vertebrates. In this study, we examined effects of water temperature and salinity on blood properties and oxygen consumption in hagfish. In the experiment of water temperature change, hematocrit (Ht), red blood cell (RBC) and glucose of hagfish blood revealed the lowest values at
. Oxygen consumption of hagfish had significantly increased with rising water temperature, and the increasing rate was twice as much when the temperature was manipulated every
. Also, oxygen consumption during the night time (a short photoperiod) was significantly higher than that of the daytime. Q10 level was 3.50 in the light period and 3.92 in the dark period. No significant change in plasma glucose level was showned in changing salinity from 30 psu to 22 psu, while it had rapidly increased at 20 psu (
) and thereafter all hagfish were dead at 18 psu. However, osmolarity,
levels had significantly decreased when salinity decreased. This results are expected to develop the artificial rearing techniques of natural hagfish.
A Research on Improving School Evaluation System for Quality School Education

The purpose of this study is to investigate school administrators` perceptions of school evaluation, examining the current situation in the hope of finding solutions to the problems caused by current evaluation. The subjects of this research were consisted of 230 middle and high school administrators in Busan. The instrument used for the study were the questionnaire included 27 questions concerning the current situation, the problems and improvements of school evaluation. The results of this study were as followed: (1) school administrators generally have a positive attitude toward school evaluations. But, they thought need to enhance their leadership qualities so that teachers can feel more positive about participating in school evaluation. (2) school administrators have to show more of an interest in the planning, performance and the use of the results of evaluation. (3) to enhance the quality of teaching practices in school they have to improve their methods for providing feedback of the results of evaluations. (4) the biggest problem related to school evaluation is the lack of quality and professional knowledge of the evaluation teams. And each school develops a unique curriculum and focuses on the improvement of instruction methods.
