Effecting the e-Self Directed Learning on Career Myths through Future Time Perspective and Decision Making

This article starts with a review of the e-self directed learning, future time perspective and decision making, especially in relation to the career myths. In particular, we empirically analyzed the factors affecting the future time perspective and the decision making on the characteristics of career myths(e.g. relatedness of the test myths, the supreme myth and the family myths). Hence the main purpose of this article is to suggest an empirical model explaining how these factors affect e-self directed learning to future time perspective and decision making. Furthermore, we suggested an expanded model about future time perspective, decision making and especially in relation to the career myths. We founded that the e-self directed learning significantly affect the future time perspective and the decision making, also the future time perspective affect the test myths and family myths except the supreme myths and the decision making significantly affect the career myths(i.e., the test myths, the supreme myth, the family myths).
A study on EU listing Korea as yellow-card non-cooperating third countries against IUU fishing and Korean countermeasures

In the results of analyzing Korean corrective action for what are required to be improved according to EU listing Korea as yellow-card non-cooperating third countries against IUU fishing, in order to establish advanced fishery order, it is thought that the following additional improvements are required. (1) The introduction of integrated management system of fishing vessel sailing route, fishing activity, fish catch, and inshore fishing vessel must be considered. (2) It is necessary to establish a system to cross check catch transaction, catch landing, and fish catch report submitted by fishing vessel. (3) Catch transshipment approval system shall be introduced. And a system of reporting and checking catch transshipment at sea shall be reinforced. (4) Punishment shall be strengthened to the extent of making people to perceive that loss due to punishment is larger than profit made from illegal fishing. (5) It shall be so improved that more than a certain percentage of all vessels with fish and fish products caught in waters outside Korea's judicial waters shall be arbitrarily chosen and searched besides a case of being suspected to be IUU fishing. In conclusion, on being listed by EU as yellow-card non-cooperating third countries against IUU fishing, Korean fishery management system shall be generally reexamined, and it shall serve as an occasion to exterminate IUU fishing and to advance fishery management system.
The Effect of Resistance Training Intensity on Muscle Damaged Index and Aging-Related Hormones in Obese Middle-Aged Women

The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of resistance training intensity levels on muscle damaged index and aging-related hormones in obese middle-aged women. Thirty middle-aged women having over 30% of body fat participated in this study. The subjects were assigned into 3 groups on the basis of workout intensity, 50% intensity, 60% intensity, and 70% intensity. After performing three different types of exercise for 12 weeks, the levels of creatine kinase (CK), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), melatonin, dehydroepiandrosterone-sulphate (DHEA-S), and growth hormone (GH) in all subjects were assessed before and after the program. Muscle damaged index was effectively changed in low exercise intensity group. However, aging-related hormones were effectively changed in high exercise intensity group. DHEA-S and GH were significantly increased in the 70% intensity group than the other groups.

As many offshore plants are built domestically, many workers get various jobs in the offshore plants directly or indirectly. But workers(including seaman and non-seaman) still have hard time to getting the job in offshore plants because they still rely on personal contacts and limitation of adaptable positions. Now people who want to work at offshore plants have to get safety training under the regulation and request of IMO/STCW and OPITO. Recently OPITO reinforced offshore safety training and discussed the mutual agreement between IMO/STCW and OPITO. Therefore this study searched legal standards for offshore plant work and the trend of offshore safety training. Base on a survey among domestic delegates who completed BOSIET course from 2010, we now understand the actual situations in finding an effective way on how to advance domestic workers in the offshore plant industry.
Analysis of Outcomes and Challenges on Problem Solving Ability Domain of Test for Enhanced Employ ability & Upgraded Proficiency by Meister and Specialized Vocational High School teachers and Industrial Workers

The purpose of this study was to inquiry of outcomes and challenges of Meister high school' and specialized vocational high school' teachers and industrial workers on problem solving ability domain of test for enhanced employ ability & upgraded proficiency, and what were outcomes and challenges of main factor by Meister high school and specialized vocational high school' teachers and industrial workers. Research subjects and region were teachers of Meister high schools and specialized vocational high schools in Gyeongsangnamdo and industrial workers in Gyeonggido. The sample(N=147) was drawn from Meister high school' teachers(N=90), specialized vocational high school' teachers(N=25) and industrial workers(N=32), and collected data were analyzed with SPSS using average, standard deviation, cross analysis, verification F. The results are as follows: The biggest outcomes of problem solving ability domain of test for enhanced employ ability & upgraded proficiency was change of educational direction for promoting core competency on specialized high school & Meister High School's students. The biggest positive ripple effects of the outcomes was also change of educational direction for promoting core competency on specialized high school & Meister High School's students. The biggest challenges of problem solving ability domain of test for enhanced employ ability & upgraded proficiency was importance of challenges was expansion of teacher training and lecture on the Test for Enhanced Employ ability & Upgraded Proficiency.
Analysis of Structural Relationships Among Predictors of Creative Problem Solving in Engineering

This study examined the impact of variables(collaboration, convergence motive, convergence thinking) on the creativity problem solving of engineering college students. 522 students among engineering colleges in Pusan and Ulsan were sampled. For the statistical analysis, analysis of covariance structure by AMOS 18.0 was applied. Results from structural equation modeling analyses indicated that a hypothesized model produced a better fit to the data than a comparative structural model. The hypothesized model shows the following results. On the basis of the hypothesized model, collaboration effected to directly convergence motive and creative problem solving, and convergence motive effected to directly convergence thinking, convergence motive effected to directly creative problem solving, convergence thinking effected to directly creative problem solving, and collaboration effected to indirectly convergence thinking by convergence motive. Therefore this study suggested the collaboration, convergence motive and convergence thinking are significantly variables to facilitate the creative problem solving for knowledge fusion in engineering.
Changes in the Quality Characteristics of Autoclaving on Salmon Frame with Citric Acid Pretreatment

This study was done to investigate the quality characteristics of salmon frame with citric acid pretreatment. Sliced salmon frame samples were cured in soy sauce, sugar, pepper, and sodium nitrate for 12 h and then dried at 3 h and then dried at

All samples of storage, for autoclaving on salmon frame, there were no growth on E.coli. In the making of autoclaving on salmon frame, technologies for more safety from microbial growth should accompany pretreatment with citric acid.
Ovulation Induction Effect of Sevenband Grouper, Epinephelus septemfasciatus by Treating Hormones

This study aims to investigate how ovulation induction of sevenband grouper, Epinephelus septemfasciatus varies when treated with different hormonal substances such as ovaprim, pimozide, LHRHa, and HCG. As for LHRHa, we injected it in different concentrations:
. All hormonal substances including LHRHa were injected into back muscles. As a result, ovulation occurred in all sample groups. The sample group injected with HCG released the largest amount of eggs, and the dimeter of eggs and oil globules were also significantly bigger than those of others. Fertilization rate, embryonic survival rate, and hatching rate were the highest in a LHRHa (

The condition factor (CF) were calculated by the morphometric data, and gonadal maturation and reproductive potential associated with fecundities of indoor cultured Hapalogenys nitens were investigated by microscopic and morphometric analysis from August 2011 to October 2012. Monthly changes in the GSI and CF were closely related to gonadal maturation and spawning. The ovary consisted of a pair of saccular structure with many ovarian lobules, the testis is a pair of lobular structure with many testicular lobules. The Effects of High School Students' Smart Phone Addiction on Impulsivity, Stress, Self-efficacy, and Self-control

This study is smartphone addiction impulsiveness, stress, self-efficacy, and examine any changes to appear self-control. This study is a response to the results obtained for 310 people targeting high school in Pusan, the second grade students. For the analysis of the collected data by using the SPSS 22.0 program was the analysis of the T-test, ANOVA, Multiple Regression. The major findings of this study can be summed up as follows: first, smart phone addiction has significant difference in impulsivity, stress, self-efficacy, and self-control. Second, sex is found to be significant in impulsivity, stress, self-efficacy, and self-control. Third, grades are significant in impulsivity, self-efficacy, and self-control. Fourth, the model for impulsivity indicates 4% of explanatory power, which is significant. Fifth, explanatory power for stress is 4%, which is significant. Sixth, the model for self-efficacy shows 14% of explanatory power, which is significant. Meanwhile, smart phone addiction, sex, and grades have no significant effects on self-efficacy. Seventh, the model for self-control indicates 20% of explanatory power, which is significant.
An Analysis of the Research Trend in Fisheries and Marine Science Education

This study was aimed at analyzing the research trends and presenting the future research in fisheries and marine sciences education. This study analyzed 127 papers related with fisheries and marine sciences education among total 970 papers from 1988(Vol. 1(1)) to 2015(Vol. 27(3)) in 'The Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education'. The results were as follows. Firstly, researches related with fisheries and marine sciences education have been actively studied from 2013 to the resent. Secondly, career vocation education and subject matter education were the most in the contents on fisheries and marine sciences education. Thirdly, literature reviews and content analysis were used the most in the research method on fisheries and marine sciences education. Lastly, most researchers(82.68%) belonged to university, and from around 2008, multiple-author research began to increase quite a bit in comparison with single-author research.
Study on the Suitability Selection for Construction of Seaweed Bed in Sewage Water Ocean Outfall Area

For the water quality improvement in the ocean outfall area of sewage treatment plant, this study tried to control the water quality of outfall area using the biofilter method through seaweeds, a way of ecological engineering treatment that is applicable in the marine ecosystem. Therefore, this research made an attempt the main factors necessary for creating seaweed bed to improve water quality in the outfall area of sewage treatment plant, and the results are as follows. In the case of making the seaweed bed in the ocean outfall area of sewage treatment plant, Habitat Suitability Index of Ecklonia cava per all survey points, considered physical and physico-chemical factors in 5~10 meters below sea level, was 50~93% (average 80%), so this seaweed, Ecklonia cava, was suitable for making the seaweed bed.
Ultrastructural Studies of Vitellogenesis According to Germ Cell Development, and Mating Period and Spawning Activity in Female Rapa Whelk, Rapana venosa (Gastropoda: Muricidae) in the Brackish Water Area of Seomjin River, Korea

Ultrstructural studies of germ cell differentiation and vitellogenesis in the oocytes of the female Rapana venosa in the brackish water area of Seomjin River were investigated by transmission electron microscope observations. In the early vitellogenic oocytes, the Golgi complex and mitochondria were involved in the formation of glycogen particle, lipid droplets, and yolk granules. In the late vitellogenic oocytes, the rough endoplasmic reticulum and multivesicular bodies were involved in the formation of proteid yolk granules in the cytoplasm. However, heterosynthetic vitellogenesis in this species were not observed in vitellogenic oocytes during oogenesis. A mature yolk granule was composed of three components: crystalline core, electron lucent cortex and the limiting membrane. As shown in some large gastropods, vitellogenesis in R. venosa occurred by way of endogenous autosynthesis without heterosythetic vitellogenesis (exogeneous endocytosis), which are found in the oocytes in bivalves. The mating period and spawning activity were related with the increases of seawater temperatures and salinities.
Differences of Career Stress Coping Strategy and Commitment to Career Choice among the Career Types for College Students

The purpose of this study was to analyze group differences of Commitment to career choice and Career stress coping strategy by the Career decision and Career preparation behavior for College Students. Through the results of this study we wanted to look for discriminatory implications for the counseling intervention. The data of 720 college students were collected for the study. The distinction of four types was revealed by the results from Crosstabs and One-way ANOVA. The frequency of upper grades indicated ideal type. But the immature type was fourth grade. There were significant differences in accordance with the two-dimensional typology of Commitment to career choice and Career stress coping strategy by One-way ANOVA. Discussion focused on effective intervention strategies in career counseling based on group differences by the Career decision and Career Preparation Behavior.
Research on the Implementation of the Bilateral Fisheries Order in the East China Sea after Establishing the China-Japan Fisheries Agreement

This research assesses the implementation of the bilateral fisheries order of the China-Japan fisheries agreement. After establishment of UNCLOS, the China-Japanese fisheries agreement has played as a basis for the fisheries order in the East China Sea. The China-Japanese fisheries agreement intends that the fisheries industries in China and Japan can utilize the renewable natural resources in the East China Sea. As the EEZ of China overlaps with that of Japanese in the East China Sea, the two countries established the China-Japan Provisional Measure Zone and Middle Zone in the Sea. Even though the three coastal States (e.g. Korea, China, and Japan) in the East China Sea are involved in managing these zones, there has been little effort to coordinate each county's management. Additionally, the Taiwan-Japan fisheries agreement, which is for the area of N
, has made costal States to establish and implement united measures to conduct effective fisheries management. Regarding access to the joint fishing zone in EEZ, Chinese fisheries regulations have been enforced in the zone because the fishing capacity of China exceeds all of other countries, reducing the number of fishing licenses and catch quotas. It turned out that a nation that has authority over fisheries resources tends to establish specific conditions of fishing operations to maximize its national interest. In the China-Japan Provisional Measure Zone, Chinese and Japanese authorities have introduced united measures to manage fisheries resources. However, in the Middle Zone between China and Japan, there is no regulation on fishing; both countries' fishing vessels can have free access to the zone. Thus, it is recommended that one should introduce an international fisheries management regime for the Middle Zone. In this regard, Korea should play a leading role in establishing the international management regime because Korea has middle position in terms of geographical standpoint, the degree of dependence on commercial fishing, and its fishing capacity.
Subjectivity of Female Nursing Student Providing Intimate Care to Patient

Nursing students are often embarrassed about offering an intimate care to patients in a clinical environment, and experience stress. In particular, nursing students is often a low level of interaction skill and nursing school has no education program for this intimate care. Therefore, these difficulties are increased while the clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to identify the attitude of female nursing students regarding intimate care to patient and the characteristics of the type by applying Q-methodology, and to create the basic data for the development of education programs for nursing student to prevent stress and embarrassed feeling. Data were collected by applying 35 Q statements to 32 female nursing students. Collected data were analyzed with the PC QUANL program. Results indicate that female nursing students' attitudes of intimate care were divided into four types: 'considering situation-professional obligation type' 'gender related risk avoidance type' 'transcendent professional care type' and 'pursuit of the ideal professional type.' The types of female nursing students' attitudes of intimate care to patient were discussed, focusing on the attitude type identified in this study.
A Study on Awareness of Food Additives and Nutrition Education in High School Students

The purpose of this study consists in analyzing the reality of processed food intake by students in different educational environments such as fisheries maritime high schools and general high schools and their awareness of food additives and investigating the reality of nutrition education. In order to achieve this purpose, we selected a total of 400 students as the subjects of this study from fisheries high schools located in Busan, Incheon, Gyeongbuk, Chungbuk and Jeonnam and general high schools located in Busan, Gyeonggi and Jeonnam. The findings of this study are summarized as follows. First, when analyzing the reality of fisheries Maritime and general high school students' processed food intake, in terms of the gender difference, the female students indicated a higher processed food intake frequency than the male students and in terms of the school types, the fisheries Maritime and general high school students showed an almost similar processed food intake frequency. Second, seeing that most female and male students were aware that the food additives were unsafe substances. Third, when analyzing the reality of nutrition education, there were more students who had not received a nutrition education than the students who had received a nutrition education.
Processing and Property of Olive Flounder Paralichthys olivaceus Terrine

Aquaculture of olive flounder started in the middle of 1980's and now farming has been taken place in many places along the coastal line in Korea. The taste of olive flounder has a good chewy texture because of high collagen content, low fat content, so it is popular for sliced raw fish. Olive flounder is popular among Koreans but the consumption pattern is uniformly so as to be used as sliced raw fish but not other ways. So, now there needs to develop high valued-processed food using olive flounder. This study was set to investigate the processing of terrine by using olive flounder, in which terrine is French style meat loaf that is well favored around the world. In this study, terrine was prepared by chopping olive flounder meat with 39 g egg white and 10 mL fresh cream (per 50 g fillet) and then seasoned with 5 mL lemon juice, 5 mL brandy, 0.05 g salt and 0.05 g pepper. The 25 g of dough was placed on a vinyl wrap, put with 2 g cheese, and layered an another 25 g dough, and then rolled up and wrapped by aluminium foil. Two different cooking methods were used for terrine processing in this study. Terrine-1 was cooked by vacuum sealed in polyethylene film (
) after boiling for 5 min and stored at
for 7 days. Terrine-2 was prepared by vacuum sealed in polyethylene film (
) and stored at
for 7 days. After 7 days, Terrine-1 was thawed and then heated up in microwave for 2 min (Sample-1), while Terrine-2 was thawed and then boiled in water for 5 min (Sample-2). Viable bacterial count, chemical composition, pH, salinity, hardness, TBA, free amino acid content, and sensory evaluation were measured for both Sample-1 and Sample-2. Especially, the scores of sensory evaluation of Sample-2 is slightly higher than that of Sample-1. On the other hand, there were no significant differences on color, odor, taste, texture, and overall acceptance between Sample-1 and Sample-2.
Economic Analysis of pay-Fishing Construction Business

Fishing population has been increasing with national income improvement and the five-day workweek in Korea. Recently commercial fishing facilities like pay fishing pond are emerging as demand of saltwater fishing increases, unlike the past when inland fishing was prominent. In order to do businesses, economic analysis should be done in advance. This study aimed to make an Economic analysis of Uljin pay-fishing place by estimating the cost and benefit, and calculating the rate of economic return. The results show the Uljin pay-fishing place's net present value of 3.5 billion won, internal rate of return of 14%, and benefit cost ratio of 1.16 at 5.5% social discount rate.

The purpose of this study is to develop a feasible and reliable tool to diagnose human's core dynamic. For this, 40 questions were developed based on literature analysis and interviews and through Delphi survey and validity and reliability analysis, an investigation tool comprised of 30 questions in 8 areas were developed finally. The investigation tool developed in this study can be utilized in measuring the obstacles and negativity that obstruct changes in individuals and in particular, it is expected to be useful in discovering obstacles that obstruct the development of members in actual organizations and resolving them. Moreover, this investigation tool can also be utilized in coaching organizations and individuals, mentoring and consultation.
Morphological and Molecular Identification of a Tropical Glass eels Anguilla marmorata and A. bicolor pacifica from Philippines Coast

Recently, import supply of glass eels from Philippines has been increased in South Korea, and the species distinction was very important to import traders and Anguilla marmorata and A. bicolor pacifica are major species at Philippines. In this study, the species distinction and the rate were researched targeting imported glass eels from the estuaries of North Luzon and the South Mindanao in May and July, 2014. Dorsal fin position and pigmentation pattern at caudal fin are the trait standard for species distinction. The results about morphological identification were coincide with the result of the genetic identification, and the regional distribution of A. marmorata rate was over 90% at North Ruzon in May. However, the rates of A. bicolor pacifica and A. mamorata were 63.3% and 36.7% in May, and were 53.3% and 46.7% in July respectively at South Mindanao.
Operating Plans in Grain Terminal for the Export of Grain - with a Focus on Busan -

In the midst of the advancement of global economic trade restrictions, the internationalization of domestic agriculture, which has occurred at a time of crisis in the industry, has presented an opportunity for Korea's agricultural products to be exported overseas. In particular, from 2015, after favorable outlooks for Korean rice, it is expected that the domestic agricultural industry is in a strong position to play a major role in export markets. Due to this, among existing measures targeting the import of rice, increasing domestic measures to boost rice exports and establish an effective operating plan are being pursued. However, until now, appropriate measures targeting domestic rice markets have not been found. In addition, domestic grain piers, which are currently used exclusively for the import of grain, do not have sufficient capacity to handle export operations. Therefore this paper will examine the current status of domestic grain piers, and will suggest a operating plan in grain terminal for the export of grain in order to successfully bring domestically produced rice to foreign markets. The conclusions drawn from this paper are designed to be used as a basic application for the operational plan of grain piers for the purpose of increasing domestic rice exports.
Hazard Factors Assessment for the Fishermen's Safety on the Vessel of Offshore Stow Nets on Anchor using Insurance Proceeds Payment of NFFC

The stow net is a stationary gear made from netting, usually in shape like trawl net without wings. The nets are fixed by means of anchors, placed according to the direction and strength of the current. And the commercial fishing is associated with high rate of fatal and non-fatal occupational injury. The hazard factors analysis for the fishermen's safety of offshore stow nets vessel was conducted to serve as a basic data for improving the healthy and safe working environment of fishermen using fishermen's occupational accidents of the national federation of fisheries cooperatives (NFFC) from 2012 to 2014 (n=1,144). As a result, the average occupational accident occurrence rate of this fishery was 206.9‰ in all industries 36.9 times the rate of that. In addition, average death and missing rate was found to have a very serious level management to 50.4‰ in all industries of death of 42.0 times. The accident occurred in 84.5 to 94.6% was happened at sea. The struck by object, slipping, contact with machinery, contact by object or gear and others occurred more frequently in order on the frequency of accident occurrence pattern. However, the occurrence rate of death and missing did not match the frequency of accident pattern. In other words, slipping occurred frequently higher while death and missing risk was not high. And the contact with fishing gear and fall in the waters was low while death and missing risk was high. The results are expected to contribute for identification and assessment of safety hazard occurred in offshore stow nets vessel.
The Effect of Self-Efficacy of Marine Officer on Job Satisfaction and Self-Development

The purpose of this study was to clarify the meaning of marine officer's self-efficacy, job satisfaction, definition of self-development and factors of determination. It shows that how their self-efficacy affects job satisfaction, self-development and that how their job satisfaction affects self-development. To achieve the purpose of the research, checked the definition and factors of marine officer's duty, self-efficacy, job satisfaction and self-development. Furthermore, cultivated a research model about the factors to influence between self-efficacy and job satisfaction, self-efficacy and self-development, job satisfaction and self-development. A result of hypothesis test by regression analysis is that 11 hypotheses were adopted among 17, and the rest of them were dismissed. The contents of hypotheses were set as follows; self-efficacy and internal job satisfaction, self-efficacy and external job satisfaction, self-efficacy and self-development, job satisfaction and self-development.
An Analysis of Recognitions of Elementary School Students on Useful Classes among School Sport Clubs for Program Development using the IPA Method

The purpose of this study was to verify the analysis of level of importance and satisfaction in recognitions of elementary school students on useful classes among school sport clubs using Importance-Performance analysis. In order to achieve this objective, samples were taken by using convenience sampling method among non-probability sampling methods, and 384 data were used as the final valid samples for this study except 16 data with missing items or insincere responses. The results of frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, independent samples t-test, IPA analysis by using SPSS 20.0 were as follows. First, Iquadrant included education contents of enhance ability to ingenuity, teaching method of provides option, teaching method of encourage participation activity, education contents of the aspect of fun, evaluation of motor function and emotion, education contents of explains key contents easily, and education contents of understanding overall context. II quadrant included education environment of good sport facility, class environment of fair opportunity for activity, class atmosphere of arouses interest, and class atmosphere of autonomous and voluntary. III quadrant included diverse teaching method and instructor's demonstration, class atmosphere of systematic learning, evaluation of fairness, objectivity, and credibility, and an atmosphere that can exercise. IV quadrant included education contents of enable acquisition of knowledge and degree of improvement into consideration, and class atmosphere of trust and respect between instructor and student.
A Study on the Design and Development of Computer Based Learning and Test System

The purpose of this study is to design and develop a computer based learning and test system, which supports not only testing learner's ability but also learning contents with giving feedback and hint. In order to design and develop a computer based learning and test system, Visual Basic dot Net software is used. The system works in three stages: sequential problem solving stage, randomized problem solving stage, and the challenge stage of pass/fail. The results of this study are as follows: (a) We propose the context of design for the computer based learning and test system. (b) We design and develop items display function with sequential and random algorithm in this system. (c) We design and develop pass/fail function by applying SPRT(Sequential Probability Ratio Testing) algorithm in the computer based learning and test system.
An Analysis of Professional Recognition on 2015 Curriculum Revision

The purpose of this research is to analyze the recognition of the curriculum experts on 2015 integrated liberal arts and natural sciences curriculum revision. Research method is a delphi survey and the subjects are curriculum experts. The research results are as follows. Firstly, experts suggested common education for all students and students' opportunities to choose subjects. Secondly, the direction of curriculum revision was different by school level. The elementary school needs to foster convergence thinking. The middle school needs to educate common basic literacy education and the high school needs both the common education and the free choice of subjects by students. Thirdly, the separation of the liberal arts and natural sciences was caused by the separate thinking of custom, tradition and study and the separate exam application on liberal arts and natural science of college scholastic ability test. The solution about separation problem of liberal arts and natural sciences have been proposed to improve mathematics education and teachers' convergence education competency. Lastly, for the establishment of an 2015, integrated curriculum the reduction of the CSAT test area and the introduction of qualifying examination for English were required.
Characterization of Asymptomatic Megalocytivirus Infection in farmed Rock Fish (Sebastes schlegeli) in Korea

Monitoring for megalocytivirus infection was conducted for ten months from March to December in 2013 in 15 aquatic farms culturing, red sea bream, rock bream, rock fish and black sea bream around Tongyoung coastal area in Korea, to assess spatial and temporal variability of detection prevalence, and to explore possible links with seawater temperature. In nested-PCR targeted major capsid protein (MCP) gene, asymptomatic megalocytivirus infection was detected in the externally healthy farmed fish with a significant prevalence in range from 0 to 58.3% for ten months. Higher prevalence of megalocytivirus (46.7% - 57.1%) was observed in high water temperature season from September to November than that in other months with lower prevalence of 0.0% to 20.0%. Even though an acute infection of megalocytivirus was occurred in rock bream (positive in the first PCR) with high mortality in one of fifteen farms, there was no expansion or transmission of the disease to the rock fish and red sea bream culturing in net cage just proximal to the rock bream cage in which disease outbreaked. Nucleotide sequence analysis of the cloned MCP gene isolated asymptomatically infected rock fish revealed that the megalocytivirus in this study was clustered together with the rock bream iridovirus (RBIV) under the subgroup II of the genus megalocytivirus (Iridoviridae), which is known to be the major megalocytivirus strain in Korea. The typical histopathological signs were not found in the spleen of rock fish asymptomatically infected by megalocytivirus. Experimental infection of rock bream with the spleen homogenate of the rock fish infected asymptomatically did not induce any mortality unlike the homogenate of infected rock bream with hih mortlity. However, these results may suggest that the asymptomatic infection of megalocytivirus in other fish species can be a potential risk threatening aquaculture industries as a transmission factor of megalocytivirus to susceptible fish species, especially rock bream.
Effect of Raw Material Freshness on Quality and Safety of Anchovy Fish Sauce

This study conducted to investigate the impact of raw material freshness on the quality and hygienic safety of anchovy fish sauce and suggest the importance of raw material freshness to make high-quality and hygienic anchovy fish sauce by measuring the chemical compositions and histamine. To devide the raw material's freshness levels, raw anchovy was left for 24 hours and was sampled every 4 hour(Group I-VII). As a result, the levels of VBN(volatile basic nitrogen) and histamine increased as time passed each contents were 16.29-87.65 mg/100 g and 6.14-1499.63 mg/100 g respectively. As fish sauce fermented for 18 months, the contents of VBN were 205.31-270.51 mg/100 g and histamine were 120.54-1707.22 mg/100 g, respectively. These results means the levels of VBN and histamine of raw materials are significantly associated with the hygiene of anchovy fish sauce. To investigate the reason of different contents of histamine at each fish sauce, bacteria from each groups were isolated and identified. At group V-VII those the lowest three groups, Leconostoc mesenteroides ssp. cremoris was identified and that produced the highest content of histamine 22.88-101.69 mg/kg and the others produced histamine 3.79-20.2 mg/kg. This means that fish sauce made by low freshness materials contain bacteria have strong ability to make histamine from histidine. Therefore, the freshness of raw material influences the hygiene and safety of fish sauce, and it is most important to manage the freshness of raw material to make the high quality and hygienically safe fish sauce.
A Study on the Level of the Occupational Basic Competencies of Fisheries and Maritime High School Students

The purpose of this study was to analyze the ability level of the occupational Basic Competencies of Fisheries and Maritime(F&M) high school students using F&M basic skills scale. In order to achieve the objectives of this study, the level was analyzed with the Fisheries and Maritime ability scale, comparing each grade level & department. This study was applied to the literature and research methods. This research was conducted collecting preliminary data from 1,113 F&M high school freshman and sophomore students. This survey of 46 questions was used to measure for F&M ability scale-divided into 6 areas-marine vocational ethics, marine information capacity, marine elementary knowledge, marine safety management skill, management & utilization marine life and marine consciousness. The results of this study were as follows; First, in F&M high school students' competencies, marine vocational ethics, marine consciousness was higher, marine information capacity, marine elementary knowledge, marine safety management skill were middle, management & utilization marine life was lower. Second, in the grade level, 5 competencies(marine vocational ethics, marine information capacity, marine elementary knowledge, management & utilization life and marine consciousness) were not different, but 2 Grade was higher than 1 Grade in the marine safety management skill. Third, comparing F&M department, Maritime department were higher than fisheries in 5 competencies. But, fisheries department was higher than maritime in the management & utilization life competencies.
