KIM, Kyoung-Duck ; KIM, Kang-Woong ; LEE, Bong-Joo ; HAN, Hyon-Sob ;
Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 28, issue 3, 2016, Pages 611~618
DOI : 10.13000/JFMSE.2016.28.3.611
factorial experiment was conducted to investigate effects of water temperature and feeding rate on growth and body composition of olive flounder. Triplicate groups of fish (initial body weight of 118 g) fed a extruded pellet (55% protein and 4708 cal/g) to satiation and at restricted feeding rates of 0.25 and 0.4% body weight per day (BW/d) at the different water temperatures (13 and
) for 9 weeks. Weight gain increased significantly with increase in feeding rates at each temperature. Weight gain of fish fed to satiation was significantly higher at 18 than
, whereas, that of fish fed at 0.25 and 0.4% BW/d were significantly or slightly lower at 18 than
. Feed efficiency and protein efficiency ratio of fish fed to satiation were not significantly different between 13 and
, but those of fish fed at 0.25 and 0.4% BW/d were significantly higher at 13 than
. The major finding of this study is that satiation feeding is efficient for optimal growth and feed efficiency of grower oliver flounder (116-164 g) in suboptimal water temperatures. The maintenance feeding ration which is zero growth performance, were 0.30 and 0.41% BW/day at 13 and
, respectively. In the restricted feeding regime, compromised growth of fish were worsen in higher water temperature (
). It might be related to high metabolic rate of fish that spend more energy for maintenance metabolism. Based on these results, we suggest that a satiation feeding regime is recommended for a productive growth of grower olive flounder in the suboptimal temperature.

DOI : 10.13000/JFMSE.2016.28.3.630
We conducted a comprehensive review on artificial reefs (ARs) including seaweed reefs for marine afforestation in relation to their development and research from 1972 to 2016, and then systematically analyzed their current a state-of-the-art and practice. From the review, the followings conclusions are made. First, the objectives of AR projects in the Southeast Asia can be classified into three, i.e. protection and increase of fishery resources, local community's profits, and ecological tourism. Second, fish gathering effects by ARs can be determined in terms of wake region or wake length that tends to increase with the K-C (Keulegan-Carpenter) number. Third, ARs are desirable to deploy across a direction of the main flow but it is essential to keep the deployment interval two to four times the length of a single reef. Fourth, stability of ARs depends on how to evaluate drag coefficient, and Morison formula turns out to be practical. Fifth, local scours of ARs are likely to occur due to a downward flow around the center of the front surface. Finally, it is natural for ARs to positively contribute to the marine ecosystem but it is imperative to develop an evaluation method for the effects of ARs on the marine ecosystem.

Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education, volume 28, issue 3, 2016, Pages 645~652
DOI : 10.13000/JFMSE.2016.28.3.645
At the initial stage of propulsion shaft design, in line with shaft alignment, an intensified consideration of lateral vibration is needed to verify its operational safety. Recently the alignment problem affecting the lateral vibration has been becoming issues. However, the theoretical method of forced lateral vibration analysis is not cleary established so far and it is about to simply limited among the classification societies and international standards to avoid the blade natural frequency resonance cpm outside of
of engine rpm at MCR. On the other hand, longer center distance between each support bearing shows an affirmative result normally in shaft alignment analysis whereas the blade order resonance speed may cause lowering near the limitation in the aspect of lateral vibration. Therefore, it is required careful attention to engineers as described above. As a method to solve the problem, it is mainly considered that remove forward stern tube bearing. In this paper, based on a medium size container ship case, theoretical study was carried out in the context of the forward stern tube bearing. The various effects and functions of forward stern tube bearing are reviewed and evaluated. Then an guidance note to lead the conclusion is proposed.

In this study, we monitored the status of marine environment of olive flounder, Paralichythys olivaceus, culture ground in Jeju-do, Republic of Korea. It reported the consumption of raw olive flounder meat containing of Kudoa, Kudoa septempunctata, could induce vomitting and diarrhea in Japan. The Kudoa is a new mycosporean species, researchers found Kudoa from the muscles of olive flounder cultured at western Japan and imported from Jeju-do. We choose two Kudoa positive farms and two negative farms in the mid of concern about the relation between Kudoa and habitat. We found two marine invasive species at the water-pumping seabed at one of the Kudoa positive farm. The concentration of pH and DO at on-growing flounder farms showed the decreasing pattern along side the raceway (influent sea waters > on growing sea waters > outfluent sea waters). The TN and TP values increased gradually following to the raceway (influent sea waters < on growing sea waters < outfluent sea waters). The concentration of COD and SS were in the range of
, respectively. The calculated residence time was 4hr 32minutes at F1, 11hr 21minutes at F2, and 9hr 50minutes at F3, respectively. It was calculated same distance of 4 km away from effluent pipes. Although direct relation between Kudoa and marine environment could not define well based on this study result, the more studies on marine environmental stressors for olive flounder are required to conduct as a reliable method including socio-economic group and environmental group.

Currently, web-based online games is becoming popular in supporting learning process due to their effective and efficient tool. However, online games have lack of security aspect, in particular due to increase in the number of personal information leakage. Since the data are transmitted over insecure channel, it will be vulnerable of being intercepted by attackers who want to exploit user's identity. This paper aims to propose an online web-based educational game, Vidyanusa which allows the students to register their personal information using a unique code, a user name and a password. It manages the users according to their schools, subject teachers and class levels. In addition, by adopting a unique code, the confidentiality of the user identity can be kept away from attackers. Moreover, in order to provide a secure data communication between client and server, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol is adopted. The performance of the system after implementing SSL protocol is examined by loading a number of requests for various users. From the experiment result, it can be concluded that the SSL protocol can be applied to web-based educational system in order to offer security services and reliable connection.

Hydrodynamic condition can be used to predict particle movement within water column and the results used to optimize environmental conditions for effective site selection, setting of environmental quality standard, waste dispersion, and pathogen transfer. To predict the extent of movement of particle from land, 3D hydrodynamic model that includes particle tracking module was applied to Geoje Bay and to calibrate particle tracking model, floating buoy measurement is operated. The model results show that short time is required for particles released into system from river to be transported to the shellfish farming area. It takes about 2 days for the particles to shellfish farming area under mean flow condition. It meant Geoje Bay, especially shellfish farming area is vulnerable to anthropogenic waste from river.

To study the influence of background color and substratum on hypermelanosis of starry flounder, we compared the daily food intake (DFI), the feed efficiency (FE), the survival, the growth, the ratio of pigmented area on the blind side and the ratio of hypermelanic fish duplicately reared for 180 days in dark-green FRP aquarium (control), white FRP aquarium together with dark-green substratum. The ratio of pigmented area on the blind side was significantly higher at the dark-green group than at the white group. DFI, FE and growth were higher in the dark-green substratum. Pigmented area rate and ratio of hypermelanic fish were significantly higher at the dark green group than at the high dark-green substratum. The results suggest that bright tank color and substratum bottom could inhibit the hypermelanosis.

The purpose of this study was to help children with poor learning capacity to enhance their sense of self-efficacy by providing them the tea-culture education program. It had been executed for the target participants of 11 in 2012, 19 in 2013 and 24 in 2014 respectively during 3 years the participants who were recruited by 00 District office Dream start. The scores of pretest and posttest for the item of self-efficacy by gender did not show a significant meaning in 2012, while the scores of self-efficacy of female students were identified as higher than those of male students in 2013 and 2014. As the result of applying the tea-culture education program, there was no meaningful difference in the item of social self-efficacy among the sub-components of typical self-efficacy in 2013, but all has been revealed as improved in 2012, 2013, and 2014 including sub-variables such as learning self-efficacy, social self-efficacy and emotional self-efficacy as well as the general self-efficacy. Thus, the results of this investigation show that the tea-culture education program were effective in developing the self-efficacy of learning maladjusted children.

The coastal water of Korean Peninsula is the major habitat for finless porpoises. However, hundreds of finless porpoises are currently caught incidentally by stow-net fishery every year. To prevent the mass mortality of finless porpoises and conserve marine animals, Busan Aquarium has been designated as a "Marine Life Ex-Situ Conservation Institution and Marine Animal Conservation Center," and Cetacean Research Institute, under the National Institute of Fisheries Science have started RRR (rescue, rehabilitation and release) project together since 2011. From 2012 to 2013, four individuals of finless porpoises had been rescued and two of them finally released to their original habitat after fully recovered in July 2013. As a result, according to growth curve of finless porpoise of Korea more than 140 cm of body length, 38 kg of total weight referred to adult, results of observation of the change in the hormone revealed that mating time of finless porpoises is January, Jun and July. To become the initial institution which rescues, treatment, husbandry and releases finless porpoise in Korea.

The purpose of this study is to find the research trends relating to flipped learning through keyword network analysis. For investigating this topic, final 100 papers (removed due to overlap in all 205 papers) were selected as subjects from the result of research databases such as RISS, DBPIA, and KISS. After keyword extraction, coding, and data cleaning, we made a 2-mode network with final 202 keywords. In order to find out the research trends, frequency analysis, social network structural property analysis based on co-keyword network modeling, and social network centrality analysis were used. Followings were the results of the research: (a) Achievement, writing, blended learning, teaching and learning model, learner centered education, cooperative leaning, and learning motivation, and self-regulated learning were found to be the most common keywords except flipped learning. (b) Density was .088, and geodesic distance was 3.150 based on keyword network type 2. (c) Teaching and learning model, blended learning, and satisfaction were centrally located and closed related to other keywords. Satisfaction, teaching and learning model blended learning, motivation, writing, communication, and achievement were playing an intermediary role among other keywords.

The objective of this research is significant because it derives the core competency factors that members of education communities must have in order to form warm education communities through investigating the perception of special education teachers. To achieve this, 352 special education teachers and teachers working at special education institutes were asked to record three of the most important factors out of a total of 18 factors that members of an educational community considered to be required in order to form warm educational communities. IBM SPSS Statistics 23 was used to analyze the collected data. First, in oder to examine the demographic characteristics of the educators surveyed, frequency analysis was conducted. Second, frequency analysis on the factors that special education teachers considered to be most important to form a warm education communities was conducted by teacher experience and type of education institute they worked for. When analyzing the research results of main factors that special education teachers considered to be important by teacher experience and type of education institute they worked for, responsibility was confirmed to be the most important factor. The second most important factor was communication and the third most important factor was responsibility and trust. In summary, the research confirmed that if mutual trust between the members of an education community can be established and if problems can be solved through cooperation and through open communication, and if each member of the community serves their role responsibly, a warm education community can be formed.
