Plastochron indices for leaf development of glycine max
Kim, Jong-Hee ;
The Korean Journal of Ecology, volume 15, issue 1, 1992, Pages 1~7
The dvelopment of leaves in soybean(glycine max cv. yellow grain and glycine max cv. black grain)plant were assessed for the applicability of the plastochron index. The plastochron ages versus time in days were respectively 6.4 days in black grain and 9.6 days in yellow grain. Plots of plastochron indes(pi) versus time were linear, there were two distinct groups of regression line. when a point of intersection in the lines were upper than the reference length, pi was estimated n+(ln Ln-ln LR)/(ln Ln-ln Ln+2) or (n-1)+(ln Ln-1-ln LR)/(ln Ln-1-ln Ln+1) . When a point of intersection in the lines were less than the reference length, pl was estimated n+(ln Ln-ln LR)/(ln Ln-ln Ln+2) or (n-1)+(ln Ln-1-ln LR)/(ln Ln-1-ln Ln+1) . The growth rate of black grain plants analysed by pl was higher than yellow grain plants.
Studies on nitrate reductase activity to different trogen sources in glycne max
Kim, Jong-hee ; Oh, Gap-Su ;
The Korean Journal of Ecology, volume 15, issue 1, 1992, Pages 9~18
Nitrate reductase activity(nra) were analysed in roots, stems and leaves plants in relation to different nitrogen sources and plastochron ages. Nra in roors and stems of soybean observed no differences in influence the nitrogen sources and plastochron ages, and the values showed to be only 5% of NRA in leaves. On the other hand,NRA in the leaves showed different result to nitrgen sources and plastochron ages. When the plants were less than PI6.0, NRA in leaves had being proportional to the concentration of nitrate and distingush decreased with an increasing plastochron age. At the later stage, upper than PI 8.0, the actvity had not effect to nitrate and plastochron ages. These results indicated that nitrate reduction in soybean was in early leaves.
Secular chang of density, litterfall, phytomass and primary productivity in mongolian oak(quercus mongolica)forest
Kwak, Toung-Se ; Kim, Joon-Ho ;
The Korean Journal of Ecology, volume 15, issue 1, 1992, Pages 19~33
The density, litterfall, phytomass, and primary productivity for 7 years in quercus mongolian forest locasted at mt. nambyengsan, pyeongchang-gun, gangwon provance in central part of korean peninsula were estimated quantitatively. at the first year in 1984, a stand had 1, 450 trees/ha in tree density, which was 0.67 of skewness and 0.54 of kurtosis in frequency distribution, however, at the 7th year in 1990, the stand had 1, 133 trees/ha in the density with 22%(or 316 tree/ha)in mortality, which was 1.16 of skewness and 1.89 of kurtosis in the frequency. annual mean litterfall was 5 ton DM/ha, which was composed of 68% of leaves, 17% of branches, 3% of bud scales, 9% of arcons and cups, 0.7% of flowers and others. the phytomass of tree layer for 7 years was gradually increased from 149.7 ton DM/ha at the first year to 188.5 ton DM/ha at the 7th year.annual net productivity for the tree layer studied ranged from 8.76 ton DM/ha.yr-1 to 11.62 ton DM/ha. yr-1 with heavy fluctuation year by year. average annual productivity of the stand of trunk, branches, leaves and roots for 7 years were 4.42, 0.67, 3.85 and 1.29 ton DM/ha.yr-1, respectively. turnover rate of the stand was 6.9% at the first year and 5.6% at the 7th year. such fluctuation of the productivity was caused by the chang of density, mortality, mortality and turnover rate.

Kwak, Young-Se ; Kim, Joon-Ho ;
The Korean Journal of Ecology, volume 15, issue 1, 1992, Pages 35~46
To elucidate nutrient cyclings such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in mongolian oak(quercus mongolica) forest, nutrient elements of precipitation, throughfall, outflow, soil, various plant organ and litter were determined at mt.nambyeongsan, pyeongchang-gun, gangwon province in central part of korean peninsula. Annual precipitation input, throughfall and outflow of nutrientswere 10.3, 8.6 and 4.2 kg/ha for the N, 0.11, 0.24 and 0.02 kg/ha for the Pand 1.3, 10.9 and 1.2 kg/ha for the K, respectively. Inseasonal changes of nutrient concentrations, N, P and Kconcentrations which were rich in young leaves decreased steadily until autumn and decreased abruptly during autumnal yellowing. The standing N, P and K concent were 565, 37 and 257 kg/ha for standing phytomass of overstory, 33, 3 and 18 kg/ha for understory, 132, 3.6 and 14 kg/ha for litter on ground including deadwood and 20, 752, 14 and 420 kg/ha for the soil, respectively. The amounts of annual uptake, reture and retain were 174.2, 57.2, 117.2 kg/ha for the N, 9.9, 3.5, 6.4 kg/ha for the P and 73.2, 30.3, 42.9 kg/ha for the K, respectively. Reabsorption efficiency, ratio of the nutrient amount reabsorbed into woody organs to that in the mature leaves before shedding, was 71%(or 99.8 kg/ha in the amount), 69%(or 5.1 kg/ha) and 57%(or 33.1% kg/ha) and recycling coeffciently made with which the large amount of nutrients is absorbed through roots during growing season(UPTAKE) and reasorbed from the leaves before shedding(RETAIN) but the small amount of nutrients is returned through litterfall(RETURN).
Characteristics of water relations paramenters obtained from pressure-volume curves in pinus koraiensis needles
Han, Sang-Sup ;
The Korean Journal of Ecology, volume 15, issue 1, 1992, Pages 47~58
This study is to investigate the change of the seasonal patterns of relative water relations parameters by the pressure-volume curves in pinus koraiensis needles. The osmotic potentials at full water saturated(Ψ0, sat) and at incipient plasmolysis(Ψ0, tlp) increased in growing season, while decreased in non-growing season. The maximum bulk modulus of elasticity(Emax), relative water content(RWCTLP), and relativefree water content(FWCtlp) at incipient plasmolysis in non-growing season were higher than these of growing season. The maximum pressure potential(Ψp, max) varied from 1.16 to 2.18MPa, torgor index(TI) varied from 3.1 to 4.7. The osmole number(Ns/dw) and symplastic water (Vo/DW) were variable seasonally. The maximum water content(Vt/DW) and apoplastic water(AW) were relatively high in early growing stage, and then decreased to needle aging. The pressure potential(Ψp) and water potential(Ψ) in winter needles were rapidly decreased with decreasing of relative water content. The matric potential occupied over 10 percent of water potential with less than-2.0 MPa.
Palynological study of the alluvial vally plain deposits from the miruksa site, iksan-gun, korean
Choi, Kee-Ryong ;
The Korean Journal of Ecology, volume 15, issue 1, 1992, Pages 59~65
Pollen analysis to clear vegetational history of korea was carried out on the deposite taken from the pit of the miruksa site, south-western korea(36o00'18'N, 127o1'12'E, 10m in alt.). This area has been known as the cool temperate zone(southern zone) according to yim and kira(1975). But, now we can not found the original vegetation because the area has been disturbed severely and almost area changed to cultivated land.the area is one of the most developd area in early agricultural stage of korea. By the pollen diagram, three local pollen zones are distinguished in this site, bottom to surface, as following. is-Ⅰ :pinus-quercus zone (140∼120 cm, sample 1 and 2) is-Ⅱ :ulmus+zelkova zone(120∼84 cm, sample 3∼6) is-Ⅲ :pinus zone(84∼0 cm, sample 7 ∼13) is-Ⅰ is characterized by high values in frequences of pinus, the temperate conifer and quercus the cool temperate oak, and is-Ⅱ zone by the decrease of quercus and increase of ulmus and increase of ulman+zelkova as ravine forest elements, isⅢ zone is characterized by pinus, especially, based on data of sample no.9.

This study was carried out to investigate the effects of soil improver on the population density and composition of microarthropods in the upland which cultivated pepper consecutively. We have treated soil improver sucf as zeolite, compost, ca, sio2 , and integrated improvement i. e. treated zeolite, compost, ca, and deep cultivate ; 20 cm. We sampled soil to collect soil microarthropods from a week to 15 months after treament at each site by soil-corer and extracted 48 hours in berlese- tullgren funnel. We have classified 16 families, 35 species diversity index of soil microarthropods are highe in the integrated improver and compost site than those found in any other sites. We suggest that soil improvement effrcts of integrated improved site are influenced by compost.
