Development of Transportation Algorithm for Pedestrian in Shopping Area

A variety of activity happens around the sidewalk in the city. Particularly, a large variety of activity happens in shopping area, but it causes an obstruction of economical revitalization since the pedestrians require time and cost to find what they want. So, this study will develop the path searching method to minimize the economical loss of shoppers by providing the significant path and supporting the walking movement. Firstly, consider existing network expression techniques and approach three points which are physical and environmental factor, the recognition of the pedestrians' space when changing the direction, and the recognition of restriction of vision and accessibility. Try to design the network DB and simulate the algorithm. As a result, it is now possible to do the path searching that considers variety of recognition factors and show the method how to make the path-searching algorithm for pedestrian.
Estimating Design Hour Factor Using Permanent Survey

This study shows how to estimate the design hour factor when the counting stations don't have all of the hourly volumes such as in a coverage survey. A coverage survey records traffic volume from 1 to 5 times in a year so it lacks the detailed information to calculate the design hour factor. This study used the traffic volumes of permanent surveys to estimate the design hour factor in coverage surveys using correlation and regression analysis. A total 7 independent variables are used : the coefficient of variance of hourly volume, standard deviation of hourly volume, peak hour volume, AADT, heavy traffic volume proprotion, day time traffic volume proportion and D factor. All of variables are plotted on a curve, so it must use non-linear regression to analyze the data. As a result the coefficient of determination and MAE are good at logarith model using AADT.
Study on Analysis of Occupant Safety Index & Behavior Using Full-Scale Crash Test Data of Crash Cushion

According to the rules, a crash cushion is supposed to set up products that is satisfied with the standard of a performance test after performing the car crash test by road safety facilities and management guide. For development of crash cushion, performance should be estimated through the car crash test eventually. However, there is no reasonable design method which considers passenger's safety and only depend on crash test without an alternative plan. Therefore it incurs a loss materially and takes a lot. Therefore, we are asked to create a systematic design of the crash cushion. This study shows that a scientific basis of applying single degree of freedom when it designs the crash cushion after analyzing vehicle crash test data of crash cushion and also represents design of crash cushion through single degree of freedom response spectrum using calculated by crash test data on crash cushion.
Analysis of Activity Participation and Travel Behavior at Weekend

In this paper, "Gyeonggi-Do household weekend travel survey" is used in order to analyze activity participation and travel behavior for the people who go to work on Saturday(workers) and those who do not go to work(non-workers). To find out causal relationship between activity participation and travel behavior, Structural Equation Models are developed. Examination of the causal relationship between activity participation and travel behavior identifies three stages. Firstly, subsistence activities and leisure activities are generated. Secondly, each activity participation produces trip volumes and travel times. Finally, the sum of travel times forms trip volumes. Looking into the activity participation stages for the workers, their subsistence activies have a tendency to take place first, and leisure activities usually follow. Non-workers generate more simple trip chains and most of their first stage activities are leisure related.
Comparative Analysis on the Characteristics and Models of Traffic Accidents by Day and Nighttime in the Case of Cheongju 4-legged ignalized Intersections

The purpose of this study is to comparatively analyze the characteristics and models of traffic accidents by day and nighttime. In pursuing the above, this study gives particular attentions to testing the differences and developing the models (multiple linear and non-linear and Poisson and negative binomial regression) using the data of Cheongju 4-legged signalized intersections. The main results analyzed are as follows. First, the differences between day and nighttime accidents were defined. Second, 12 accident models which are all statistically significant were developed. Finally, the differences between day and nighttime models were comparatively analyzed using the common and specific variables.
A Study about The Taxi Driver's Car Accident Characteristics

According to a characteristic analysis of traffic accidents of industrial vehicles (RTSA 2007), the occurrence rate and lethality per 10,000 vehicles is 6.7 times higher and 5.3 times higher than that of non-industrial vehicles respectively. For the recent 10 years, in contrast to the 1.5% decrease of the annual rate of entire traffic accidents, the accident rate of industrial vehicles have been increasing 2.0% on the annual average. For the recent 10 years, the accidents of a freight truck and bus have been steadily falling off. But, in the case of a taxi, it has constantly been rising 5.6%. In these situations, the countermeasures to decrease the accident rate are suggested by grasping the inclination of taxi drivers through Q analysis which is character and psychology analysis method.
Capacity Analysis in the Ramp Junction of the Urban Freeway Connected with the Busan Port

Urban freeway is defined as the roadway with 4 lanes or more which requires a high design criteria for handling a large capacity of vehicles rapidly as a high-speed exclusive roadway in the city. However, most of the urban freeways suffer from severe traffic congestion due to the increased traffic exceeding their capacities regardless of the morning and afternoon rushhours or the inbound and outbound directions. The purpose in this study is to collect and investigate the real-time traffic characteristics based on the ramp junction influence areas of the urban freeway connected with the Busan port, compare and analyze the traffic characteristic relationship for each lane within the ramp junction influence areas, and finally assess and suggest the optimal capacity for each lane within the ramp junction influence areas.
Establishment about Service Level and Evaluation Model of Bus Stop

Bus stop is necessary to improve user-focused environment to offer convenient service because of the large number of passengers. This study is to analyze user's evaluation and establishment model of the service levels at bus stop using GAP analysis, IPA and Structural equation model and suggests improvement direction of bus stop. In the GAP analysis, on thirty-one service items of bus stop, the difference appeared highly from the items such as obstacle's facility and the information related to the using bus. In the current IPA service bus operation information, cadence facility and obstacle support facility need to be improved. And in service expectation bus operation information and th exchange facility, the obstacle support facility need to be improved continuously. The evaluation model of bus stop service due to a structure equation's was fitted well by structure equation. In overall satisfaction on bus stop, the waiting satisfaction is more affect the satisfaction of bus use facility. Satisfaction in bus use facility, the related information of bus operation, cadence facility, bus operation information and trans facility, obstacle support facility is more affect compare to other items. The lower overall satisfaction in bus stop is the higher the expectation of overall satisfaction is. Therefore, the information of bus operation and the support facility for the handicapped needs an active improvement plan than ever.
Evaluation of the Nonlinearity Parameter in Unbound Material for Asphalt Concrete Pavement using Field-NDT Equipment

This study examines which models are more suitable for representing mechanical property of unbound materials to analyze behavior of asphalt pavement structure. Results from FWD (Falling Weight Deflectometer) test were used to apply to nonlinear elastic model. The new method which can deduct material constants of nonlinear elastic model is suggested from FWD test data rather than laboratory resilient modulus (
) test. It is confirmed that the material constants are within the common range in subbase. Test output from FWD and MDD (Multi-Depth Deflectometer) was used to verify reliability of the model. From the results of verification, this study shows that a non-linear elastic model agrees to MDD test data more than a linear elastic model does.
Older Drivers' Characteristics and Optimal Number of Guide Names on Road Signs

Due to the lack of judgement in an information processing on road sign, older drivers usually are having a hard time driving than young group. Furthermore, according to increasing in aging population, older drivers in Korea have been growing much faster. That means research for older drivers' characteristics and the number of guide name for road sign should be needed. In accordance with suggestions, this study was carried out the number of guide names for road sign with a variety of ages from the twenties to the seventies. For the sake of this study, statistical verification was conducted to confirm a change of speed, a reading time and a misreading rate with Driving Simulator and Electrooculogram tool. As the results of study, change of speed in the age range has shown that the higher the proportion of age, the lower the rate of velocity. Also reading time in the age range with regression analysis found that the higher the proportion of age, the higher the rate of reading time by 0.106sec. Finally, a binary logistic model was used to find the main factors. As the results, 4 number of guide names for road sign have been the best of them for older driver. The result of this study verified the importance of ideal guide numbers on road sign for older driver and proved itself to be an effective method to determine the road safety for the road signs.
Evaluation on Laboratory Moisture Damage Characteristics of the Asphalt Mixtures using Indirect Tensile Test

Moisture damage of asphalt pavements can usually occur because of the loss of adhesion and cohesion between the asphalt binder and aggregate in the asphalt mixture due to presence of water. And this is one of the causes that is effect on the main distress of asphalt pavement. The objective of this study is to find out moisture damage characteristics of asphalt pavement. Effects of this study changes of the material properties and resistance characteristics of moisture damage on the asphalt mixtures under various temperatures and repeated immersion using indirect tensile test and modify Lottman test were evaluated during this study. The asphalt mixtures were produced using straight asphalt binder, SBS modified asphalt binder and aggregates. The material properties (resilient modulus, indirect tensile strength, failure energy and
) of the asphalt mixtures were generally decreased with increasing to moisture damage caused by the number of repeated immersion. The decrease ratios of material properties by repeated immersion on SBS modified asphalt mixtures were lower than those of straight asphalt mixtures at all three test temperatures. As a conclusion, current criterion for evaluation moisture damage of asphalt mixtures is difficult for using distinction standard because of the limited evaluation criterion with one time immersion and single material property. Based on this research, to evaluate long term moisture damage on asphalt mixtures, material property tests of various kinds with repeated immersion test are considered.
A Benchmarking Study on Engineering Project Delivery System - A Case Study FIDIC & U.S. Governmental Regulation -

Korean engineering firms need to improve their performance in order to stay competitive in the globalize environments which has been led by some international movements including World Trade Organization (WTO) and Free Trade Agreements (FTA). There have been various activities and researches focusing on how to improve competitiveness of Korean engineering firms and the out-of-fashion Engineering Project Delivery System (EPDS) has repetitively identified as one of main barriers to deter advancements of Korean engineering industry. Therefore, this research attempted to investigate global standards of EPDS such as International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC), American Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Brooks Act, and so on. The procedures of international EPDSs along with a few case studies were comprehensively analyzed and compared with Korean EPDS in order to propose recommendations of improving Korean EPDS. Some major differences between international and Korean EPDS were identified and they includes emphasis on qualifications of engineers and/or firms rather than their proposed cost, extensive use of long and short-list, common use of negotiation process, etc. Research findings are envisioned to guide the Korean public engineering sector to innovate Korean EPDS.
A Case Study on Information Strategy Plan of the Web Based on Project Management Information System for Construction Company

Nowadays PMIS (Project Management Information System) based on web is widely applied to communication, collaboration and community in construction jobsite for various organization such as subcontractors, general contractor, engineering company, supervisors and client. However, individual PMIS in jobsite is prone to be troublesome issue for integration and exchange of information regarding project management in corporate and may result in conflict of data application. The main reason should be lack of information strategy plan such as company master plan for information. This research shows a critical success factor that a big construction company of Korea establishes procedure and method for information strategy plan. In addition, It is to suggest how to be implemented PMIS architecture and execute business process innovation in corporate level. This research expects contribution that many construction companies reduce mistakes to be implemented management information system and to optimize system in corporate level.
Extracting Road Points from LiDAR Data for Urban Area

Recently, constructing the database of road network is a main key in various social operation as like the transportation, management, security, disaster assesment, and the city plan in our life. However it need high expenses for constructing the data, and relies on many people for finishing the tasks. This study proposed the classification method for discriminating between the road and building points using the entropy theory, then detects the classes as a expecting road from the classified point group using the standard reflectance intensity of road and the characteristics restricted by raw. Hence the main object of this study is to develop a method which can detect the road in urban area using only the LiDAR data.
Three-dimensional Reconstruction of X-ray Imagery Using Photogrammetric Technique

X-ray images are wildly used in medical applications, and these can be more efficiently find scoliosis which is appearing during the growth of human skeleton than others. This research is focused on the calibration of X-ray image and three-dimensional coordinate determination of objects. Three-dimensional coordinate of objects taken by X-ray are determined by two step procedure. Firstly, interior and exterior orientation parameters are determined by camera calibration using Primary Calibration Object (PCO) which has two sides with embedded radiopaque steel ball. Secondly, calibration cage coordinates which is composed of two acrylic sheets that are perpendicular to X-ray source are determined by the parameters. Three-dimensional coordinates of calibration cage determined by photogrammetric technique are compared with that of Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). Though the accuracy analysis, X direction which is parallel to X-ray source error values are relatively higher than those of Y and Z directions. But, the accuracies of Y and Z axis are approximately -3 mm to 3 mm. From the research results, it is considered that photogrammetric technique is applied to determine three-dimensional coordinates of patients or assist to make medical devices.
