Application and Assessment of WAsP for Haengwon Wind Farm

Using WAsP, which is PC-program for the vertical and horizontal extrapolation of wind data, annual energy production as well as wind energy density has been predicted for Haengwon wind farm in Jeju island. The predicted results were compared with real data derived from wind turbines in Haengwon wind farm. As the results, in order to produce more electric power, new wind turbines should be located along coastal line, which has comparatively high wind energy density. Also, the roughness length should be inputted to the Map Editor program for better agreement with real annual energy production.

Nowadays, a concern of building environment has been arousing. Furthermore, according to this trend, the social concern has expended continuously. Especially, the right of daylight is essential for both the pleasant life and building maintenance. In this reason, it has dealt as like property right. Therefore, the Infringement on the right of daylight can be applicable to the infringement of property right. However, few un-notarized calculation methods have been used without careful examination about daylight duration calculation methods which can be used for determine sunshine infringement as the dispute solution, therefore. In this thesis We analyzed and concluded the differentiations of two calculation methods which are using nowadays.
A Study on the Optimal Installation of Solar Photovoltaic System in Korea

The measured solar radiation incident on tilted surfaces by all directions has been widely used as important solar radiation data in installing photovoltaic modules. To maximize the incident beam radiation, the slope, which is the angle between the plane of the surface in question and the horizontal, an4 the solar azimuth angles are needed for these solar photovoltaic systems. This is because the performance of the solar photovoltaic systems is much affected by angle and direction of incident rays. Recognizing those factors mentioned above are of importance, actual experiment has been performed in this research to obtain the an91e of inclination with which the maximum incident rays can be absorbed. The results obtained in this research could be used in installing optimal photovoltaic modules.
The Performance Simulation of All-Glass Vacuum Tubes with Coaxial Fluid Conduit

A numerical investigation has been carried out for a solar system, which consists of all glass solar vacuum tubes Water is heated as it flows through the coaxial fluid conduit inserted in each tube. The space between the exterior of the fluid conduit and the glass tube is filled with antifreeze solution. This is to facilitate heat transfer from the solar heated absorber surface to water and to prevent the functional problems due to freezing in frigid weather conditions. A one-dimensional steady state model is fully described which will be used to develop three-dimensional model using STAR-CD. These models could be used efficiently in designing all-glass solar collector tubes with different geometrical parameters other than those considered in the present analysis. Results show good agreement when compared with other experimental data demonstrating the reliability of the present model.
Analysis of Thermodynamic Design Data of Double-Effect Absorption System for Heating using LiCl-water for Evaporator Heating Source of Solar Energy

In this paper, thermodynamic design data for heating of double-effect absorption system using LiCl-water for evaporator heating source of sofar energy are investigated for the water-LiCl pair and a comparative study of the water-LiCl pair with the water-LiBr pair is given used for the computer simulation. The computer simulation is based on mass, material and heat balance equations for each part of the system. Coefficients of performance and flow ratios for effects of different operating temperatures are investigated. It is found that the heating COP is higher for the water -LiCl pair than for the water-LiBr pair, and FR is lower for the water-LiCl pair than for the water LiBr pair.
The Auxiliary Power Compensation Unit for Stand-Alone Photovoltaic/Wind Hybrid Generation System

Photovoltaic energy and wind energy are highly dependent on the season, time and extremely intermittent energy sources. Because of these reasons, in view of the reliability the photovoltaic and the wind power generation system have many problems(energy conversion, energy storage, load control etc.) comparing with conventional power plant. In order to solve these existing problems, hybrid generation system composed of photovoltaic(500W) and wind power system(400W) was suggested. But, hybrid generation system cannot always generate stable output due to the varying weather condition. So, the auxiliary power compensation unit that uses elastic energy of spiral spring was added to hybrid generation system for the present study. It was partly confirmed that hybrid generation system was generated a stable outputs by spiral spring was continuously provided to load.

This study analysed data on the weather of Seoul, Gwangju and Mokpo to examine the degree of temperature increase in those Korean cities. 1) When the results of the analysis were compared with those of previously analysed temperature increase in 1990s and 1940s, there was an increase in temperature of

Optimal Windows Transmittance by Energy Performance Analysis and Subjective Evaluation in office building

The purpose of this study is to select the optimal transmittance rate of windows in office buildings through subjective evaluation and energy performance analysis(computer simulation program ; DOE 2.1E). Environmental issues become one of today's central concerns due to draining natural resources and environmental pollution. Architecture is given a great deal of weight on the evoking environmental pollution. In this point of view, polluting factors in architectural planning and construction were predicted in advance and alternative plans were studied, In investigation of alternative plans, both environmental pollution and economical efficiency of various alternatives were considered. A office building was analyzed for energy consumption and construction environmental load by appling LCA. Applying LCA to a office building includes a total amount of materials and energy consumption, environmental impacts and economical efficiency evaluation. In present study, LCA applied to electrical part of a office building and economical efficiency evaluation was considered.

A study on the proposal of environmental capacity criterion method for windows system in buildings

This research investigates the life-cycle energy consumption of the windows used for the building's exterior cladding, and its environmental potential aspects by utilizing the LCA. The research scope has taken account of the entire life-cycle of the windows from the extraction of raw materials to its disposal, of which given sample building type is an apartment building. Results gained from the LCA of the windows as one of the steps in analysis reflects the current global interest and analysis trend towards the world's environmental issue on all fields of industry including the architectural industry, of which its newly established standards of architectural windows can further promote more environmentally sustainable factor compared to the previous analysis (focused more on energy efficiency assessment of the use stage).
