The Effect of Perceived Attractiveness of Local Festival on the Esteem of Residents -Focusing on Dongnae Historical Festival- (지역축제 매력성에 대한 지역주민 인식이 지역자긍심에 미치는 영향 -동래읍성역사축제를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the attractiveness of local festival on local esteem of residents through the residents' satisfaction toward the festival. The survey was undertaken for four days during October 11 to 14 of 2013 in Dongnae, Busan. Two hundred twenty-three respondents were selected and invited to participate in this study. Results found a significant relationship between local festival attractiveness and festival satisfaction. The study also indicated that local community residents' satisfaction toward the festival had a significant, positive relationship with the residents' local esteem. Among the attractiveness factors, it was revealed that novelty-seeking and entertainment were more powerful stimulators. Also, analysis indicated that program quality, uniqueness, and convenience were also important for attracting local residents toward the festival. Theoretical and practical implication were discussed.

  • This study has been conducted among the visitors to the Gangneung Danoje Festival 2014 and its purpose is to identify the presence of any correlation between festival attractiveness/visitor satisfaction and the festival factors comprised of interaction, story and telling with storytelling considered as a means that induces communications among visitors as a new method of festival expression. The study has found that the storytelling in traditional cultural festival has statistically significant effect on both festival attractiveness and visitor satisfaction. In particular, when it comes to festival attractiveness, diversity of programs, transportation and accessibility, service quality and lodging have shown to have statistically significant effect while affecting the satisfaction among visitors. Therefore, consistent efforts should be made to develop quality cultural contents through interactions and storytelling between a traditional cultural festival and visitors.

  • As various types of regional festivals are contributing to the growth of local economy, promoting the culture, and enhancing the region's images, representative festivals are getting more important for local governments. This study analyzed the correlation between satisfaction on festivals' attractiveness and images of the region, based on an actual field study taken with respondants who visited 2012 Anseong World's Folkloriada Festivals. Among various facets that affect festivals' attractiveness, 4 factors such as services aside from transportation and promotional guides, programs, convenient facilities, and food significantly affected tourists' satisfaction level. Tourists' satisfaction level was found to have significant impact on the enhancement of local images. Based on these findings, this paper suggests implications and limitation of the research as well as future directions for the study.

  • 본 연구는 낙안읍성이라는 특정 장소에서 열리는 남도음식축제를 사례로 이벤트관광의 정착과 성장과정을 관광지리학적 관점에서 고찰하였다. 남도음식축제는 특정장소가 갖는 매력요인과 전남지역의 고유한 향토음식이 결합된 전남의 대표적인 이벤트관광이며, 1998년 문체부에 의해 전국 3대 축제로 선정되어 전국적인 규모의 축제로 성장하였다. 1994년부터 시작된 남도음식축제는 프로그램과 예산, 참가인원 등 규모면에서 꾸준한 성장을 보여 왔다. 그리고 개최기간은 3일에서 일주일로 연장되었고, 관광세력권은 꾸준히 확대되고 있다. 남도음식축제를 더욱 활성화시키기 위해서는 관 주도의 축제에서 민간주도의 축제로의 전환, 지역축제를 이끌어 갈 전문인력의 양성, 낙안읍성이라는 장소성과 역사성을 부각시킬수 있는 프로그램 개발, 음식축제에 대한 보다 적극적인 경영마인드의 도입, 낙안읍성 주변의 주요 관광지와 연계관계를 구축하여 관광세력권의 확대, 지속적인 관광객 형태 및 평가분석을 통한 관광객들의 관심과 욕구의 반영 등이 필요하다.

Applying the Theory of Planned Behavior to Forecast the Food Purchase in Festivals (축제방문자의 먹거리 구매행동 예측에 대한 계획행동이론의 적용)

  • The foods served in festivals only affect attractiveness on visitors in itself. Because residents, tourists and vendor flow into the site in opening periods. In this case, there are always the possibility to happen to accident in site unprecedently. Therefore, The purpose of the study is to examine how visitors perceive the foods vendors served in festivals and how the factors influence among the casual relationship to applying the planned behavior theory. The Results is following up. Behavior Intention is affected the variables of belief, subjective norm and perceived behavior control. Final varialbe Food buying is affected the variable of behavior intention positive, but perceived behavior contro is not significant(p<0.05). Festivals make for the depar from the life, the attractiveness of the food happen to buy it stronger than the control ability of visitors. The health control for the food is needed systemically on the focus of the risk management

  • 오늘날 음악축제는 시장규모가 점점 커져가는 추세를 보이고 있으며, 다양한 장르의 축제가 계속적으로 생겨나고 있다. 이를 위해 시장형성이나 경쟁력 강화를 위한 방안의 일환으로 방문자개발을 위한 연구가 요구된다. 첫째 선행연구에서 제시한 품질평가 모형을 중심으로 음악축제의 핵심속성으로 관람객의 관람가치, 축제 매력성의 2가지 요인을 추가적으로 도출하여 반영하였다. 둘?, 몰입 후 행동에 대한 태도변화를 검증하기 위하여 몰입도 뿐만 아니라 몰입과정의 태도에 대한 관련상품 구매의도를 변수로 정의하였다. 본 연구를 위하여 음악축제 경험자 205명을 대상으로 실증분석을 실시하였다. 본 결과를 통해 공연기획사가 성공적으로 공연을 기획하기 위한 전략을 제시할 수 있다.

The factors affecting Visitors' Spending on Local Festivals by applying the Tobit Model -Based on Rice Festivals in Two Regions- (Tobit 모형을 이용한 지역축제 방문객의 지출 영향요인 -두 지역 쌀 축제를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the impact in visitors' spending on two separate local festivals, and to present the improved market strategies to attract visitors to revisit the local festivals. This study was also intended to suggest the ways to increase the competitiveness and revitalize the local festivals by improving the existing attractions and creating new attractions based on the visitors' evaluation. On the purpose of the study, we studied the visitors of two local ricefests, Icheon Rice Cultural Festival and Rice Festival in Jincheon Chungbuk, and estimated the determinants influencing the visitors' spending to the festivals by applying Tobit model. Finally, to estimate the behavioral differences in visitors of the two festivals, we compared the estimated determinants for the visitors of each festival by using Log-likelihood Ratio, and analyzed the differences in the factors influencing the visitors' spending. Summarizing the propensity of visitor's spending to local festivals, visitors of two rice festivals buy or tended to buy things on impulse. Therefore, festival industry needs to take measures to efficiently accommodate their expenditures from the stage of designing festivals.

Effects of Festival Sevicescape and Human Services to Emotional Response and Behavioral Intention (축제의 서비스스케프와 인적서비스가 감정반응과 행동의도에 미치는 영향 -강경발효젓갈축제 사례를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this research is to find out how festival servicescape and human service impact the participant's emotional response and behavioral intention in terms of participants as consumers. The servicescape of festival indicated 4 common factors, named cleanliness, convenience, suitability and attravtiveness. As a result of analysis, it indicated that cleanliness and convenience from among the servicescape of festival variables are positively on positive emotion, negatively on negative emotion. And it was analyzed that all the variables of human service influence significantly on emotional response. Especially, it showed that expertise of human service variables influence on positive emotion the most, influence significantly on negative emotion. The result of relationship on behavioral intention indicated that the convenience factor of festival servicescape and expertise factor of human service influence significantly. Therefore, to operate successful festival, festival organizer should plan and manage the festival based on factors which comprises festival servicescape and human service.

Effects of Visitors' Motivation for Attending Festivals on Their Participation Flow and Satisfaction (축제 방문객의 참여동기가 참여몰입 및 참여만족에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of visitors' motivation for attending festivals on their participation flow and satisfaction. Empirical researches have been done in order to accomplish the purpose. The results are as follows: First, the more a festival provides its visitors with escape from daily life and its uniqueness, the more their participation flow increases. Second, the attractiveness of the events of a festival and the promotion of intimacy among family members and visitors also lead to the increase of participation flow. Third, intrinsic motivation has more influence over the participation satisfaction of a festival than extrinsic one. Fourth, the degree of participation satisfaction is in direct proportion to that of participation flow. Such results could provide useful strategic findings for persons in charge of planning and arranging festivals.

  • This paper examined the settlement and evolution of the Namdo Food Festival holding in Nakan folk village since 1994. The Namdo Food Festival is a representative event tourism in Chonnam which beautifully displays Nakan eup-sung's folk landscape and Namdo's traditional food, a prime tourist resource. Since 1994, the Namdo Food Festival has steadily evoloved in the scale aspects of the program budget, and the number of visitors participating in festiva. In addition, the period of the food festival was fixed for a week, early in October. The majority of visitors to the festival was from Kwangju. Moreover, visitors from other provinces have steadily increased, in particular visitors from Yeongnam province such as Pusas and Kyeongnam provinces have increased since 1996. In order to settle down and develop the Namdo Food Festival, the followings should be done change of the ownership from public to private sector, training of professional entertainers, development of programs which can reinforce historical aspects and placeness of Nakan folk village, adoption of management technoques for the local economic activities, and extension of linkage with tourists places around Nakan folk village, reflection of tourists interests and needs through a continuoua tourist's behaviour analysis.
