Phenolic compounds in domestic and imported grape cultivars in Korea (국내산 포도와 수입산 포도의 페놀계화합물 함량)

  • In this study, fruit phenolics were investigated with using LC/MS and HPLC analysis in order to compare the differences between domestic ('Campbell Early', 'Kyoho', 'Heukbosuk', and 'Hongju SDS') and imported ('Crimson SDS' and 'Thomson SDS') grapes. In the case of fruit characteristics, imported grape 'Crimson SDS' and 'Thompson SDS', had lighter skin weight (300-350 mg/berry) and hard flesh (5.2-5.6 kg·f) than domestic grape cultivar. The phenolic compound contents of 'Crimson SDS' skin was higher, but resveratrol (25-29 mg/kg), quercetin (350-380 mg/kg), and myricetin (31-32 mg/kg) contents were similar in to those of 'Hongju SDS'. The anthocyanin content was different from differed between grape cultivars. 'Hongju SDS' grape was showed higher in Delphinidin-3-glucose (D3G) levels, and 'Crimson SDS' was showed higher in Peonidin-3-glucoside (P3G) levels. The contents of phenolic compounds were investigated differently for each grape berry part. Catechin, epicatechin, procyanidin B1, and B2 were found in grape seeds.

Oxidative Stability of Grape Seed Oil by Addition of Grape Seed Extract (포도씨추출물을 첨가한 포도씨유의 산화 안정성)

  • Grape seed extract (GSE) was added to grape seed oil to improve the oxidative stability of the grape seed oil during storage. To measure the oxidative stability of grape seed oil, peroxide value, acid value, and conjugated diene value were measured, and changes in browning, vitamin E, fatty acid composition, and polyphenol content of oil were examined. In the case of grape seed oil with GSE, peroxide value, acid value, and conjugated diene value were lower than those of grape seed oil. The magnitude of increase in absorbance of grape seed oil with GSE was less than that of additive-free grape seed oil, whereas the magnitude of decrease in vitamin E isomers in grape seed oil with GSE was less than that of grape seed oil with no additive. Changes in fatty acid composition were also similar. However, polyphenol contents showed the greatest reduction in grape seed oil containing GSE. GSE contributes to the oxidation stability of grape seed oil, but the antioxidant capacity of GSE was lower than that of butylated hydroxytoluene.

  • This study investigated consumer grape recognition and preference, to improve grape quality. The questionnaire explored consumption frequency, purchasing locations, amounts purchased, general preferences, seedless/seeded preference, and external/internal quality factors. Answers to 519 questionnaires were analyzed both descriptively and quantitatively using SPSS for Windows(Version 14.0). The principal results were as follows: 46.1% of respondents purchased at wholemarket; 38.5% purchased 3-5 bunches at any one time; 76% preferred grapes to other fruits; and 49.8% purchased bigger(and not smaller) grapes. Most customers preferred seedless grapes. The most important external quality factor was bunch fullness and the most significant internal factor was sweetness.

  • 포도는 1990년대 이후 재배면적이 꾸준히 증가하여 1999년도에 30,537ha로 정점에 이른 후 2009년 17,996ha로 감소되고 있는 추세이다. 이와 같이 재배면적은 감소추세에 있으나 단순한 품종구성으로 인한 홍수출하로 가격하락 우려가 있고 생식용 포도의 주요 수출국인 칠레와의 FTA체결 등은 우리나라 포도산업의 어려움을 가중시키고 있다. 따라서 대내외의 어려운 상황에 슬기롭게 대처하기 위해서는 고품질 포도 생산이 하나의 중요한 방안이다. 이에 고품질 포도를 생산할 수 있는 재배기술의 밑거름이 되는 품종별 전정기술을 바르게 이해하고 실천하여 2011년에는 경쟁력 있는 포도를 재배해 보자.

  • 본 연구는 노지에서의 와인용 포도 재배에 있어서 영향을 받는 환경적 요인을 유비쿼터스 센서 네트워크(Ubiquitous Sensor Network)를활용하여 실시간 모니터링하며 적절한 조치를 신속히 취함으로써 와인용 포도의 품질을 높이고 안정적으로 와인용 포도 재배자가 원하는 수준에서 수확될 수 있도록 하는 시스템에 관한 것이다. USN 을 구성하고 있는 센서 노드는 재배자가 설치를 원하는 다수의 지점에 설치되어 온도 습도 등 환경 데이터를 수집하며 이 데이터를 바탕으로 서리, 강추위, 가뭄 등의 와인용 포도 재배에 피해가 예상되는 현상을 미리 예측하여 재배자가 선제적으로 대처할 수 있도록 하여 피해를 최소화하였다. 이 연구는 USN 기술을 통해 와인용 포도의 수확 품질을 향상시킬 수 있음을 보여준다.

Production of High-Level Polyphenol Powders from Young Grape Leaves (어린 포도 잎을 이용한 폴리페놀 고함유 분말 제조)

  • Polyphenols are naturally occurring antioxidants and play many important roles in human health. Grape leaves have not yet been reported to contain the antioxidants. In this study, the physicochemical properties of powders from young grape leaves, obtained after hot-air or vacuum freeze drying, were analyzed. Weight loss rangedfrom 76-80%, but no difference was found between samples prepared by hot-air orvacuum freeze drying. The L-, a-, and b- values of grape powder all fell upon hot-air drying. Quercetin, resveratrol, catechin, and epicatechin were detected in all cultivars. The contents of the four polyphenols were generally higher in powders obtained by vacuum freeze dryingthan in those prepared by hot-air drying, indicating that vacuum freeze drying is better for optimal preservation of polyphenols. None of three polyphenols assayed was found in some cultivars or after certain drying treatments. Based on physiochemical properties, our findings suggest that powders obtained after vacuum freeze drying are optimal for industrial use.

  • 운동화 안감으로 사용되는 부드러운 천연 가죽의 내부 구조 및 쾌적성과 유사하게 개발한 3종류의 편성포에 관하여 수분 전달 능력을 비교 측정하였다. 편성포 표면에 이면으로 땀액의 이동성을 측정하기 위하여 새로운 실험 절차를 고안하여 측정한 결과, 편성포에 가한 압력은 수분 이동 능력에 영향을 미치지 않았다. 그러나 편성포의 기모가 있는 표면과 기모가 없는 이면의 수분 이동 능력이 달랐고, 3종류중 한 편성포에서는 표면의 기모는 수분전달을 저하시켰다. 표면은 기모, 이면은 평편조직으로 두껍고 무거운 편성포의 수분전달이 가장 좋았고 이 편성포와 같은 조직이면서 두께와 중량이 적은 편성포는 수분전달이 감소되었다. 수분이동 능력을 향상시키기 위하여 편성포의 섬유와 구조를 고려할 때 기모량은 중간 정도이고 기모된 표면을 수분에 접하도록 하는 것이 바람직하다. 이렇게 함으로서 더 효과적인 수분 이동이 이루어져서 피부 표면에서 땀증발이 좋았다. 이 연구에 사용된 실험 방법은 편성포의 수분 이동 체계에 관한 이해 증진에 기여할 수 있다고 본다.

  • This study investigates the possibility in establishing the wine theme village in Youngwol area, and grape production and wine industry in world and Korea. Wine import market formed since 1988 in Korea. Because Korean wine production will be finished in 2011, Korean farmers need the strategy against foreign grape and wine importers. That is to establish the wine theme village, one of green tourism. Many pensions and raftsmen are concentrated along the Donggang river, where Geowoun-ri of Youngwol area is located. Possibility in establishing the wine theme village in Geowoun-ri is depend on the attractive program that people enjoy in Youngwol are. The programs have to consist in the regional image.

Prediction of Evapotranspiration from Grape Vines in Suwon with the FAO Penman-Monteith Equation (FAO Penman-Monteith 공식을 이용한 수원지역 포도 수체 증발산량 예측)

  • Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) Penman-Monteith (PM) equation is one of the most widely used equations for predicting evapotranspiration (ET) of crops. The ET rate and the base crop coefficients ($K_{cb}$) of the two different grape vines (i.e., Campbell Early and Kyoho) cultivated in Suwon were calculated by using the FAO PM equation. The ET rate of Campbell Early was $2.41\;mm\;day^{-1}$ and that of Kyoho was $2.22\;mm\;day^{-1}$ in August when the leaf area index was 2.2. During this period, the $K_{cb}$ of Campbell Early based on the FAO PM equation was on average 0.49 with the maximum value of 0.72. On the other hand, the $K_{cb}$ of Kyoho was averaged to be 0.45 with the maximum value of 0.64. The seasonal leaf area index for two grape cultivars was measured as 0.15 in April, 0.5 in May, 1.4 in June, 2.2 in July-September, and 1.5 in October. The $K_{cb}$ of Campbell Early showed a seasonal variation, changing from 0.03 in April to 0.11 in May, 0.31 in June, 0.49 in July-September, and 0.33 in October. The magnitudes and the seasonality of $K_{cb}$ of Kyoho were similar to those of Campbell Early.
