Multiple User Class Traffic Assignment based on Variational Inequality Formulation in Variable demands (변동부등식을 이용한 가변수요 다사용자계층 통행배정문제의 해석)

  • 다사용자계층 통행배정(Multiple User Class Assignment) 문제란 교통망을 이용하는 통행자들이 이질적인 통행계층으로 구성된 경우, 이들 각 계층의 통행수요를 교통망에 배정하는 문제를 의미한다. 이는 기존 통행 배정모형들이 모든 통행자의 통행특성이 동질적이라고 가정함으로서 발생하는 불합리한 통행배정 결과를 완화시키기 위한 방법이다. 또한, 최근 지능형교통체계(Intelligent Transportation Systems, ITS)사업에서 교통정보제공시스템이 구현될 예정임에 따라, 교통정보를 제공받는 계층과 그렇지 못한 계층간의 영향을 분석하거나 혼잡통행료부과 등과 같은 교통관리전략을 정확히 평가하기 위해서 다사용자계층 통행배정모형에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 그러나, 다사용자계층 통행배정모형의 경우, 사용자간의 상호영향으로 통행비용함수의 1차 편미분행렬(Jacobian matrix)이 비대칭(Asymmetric)이 되어 동등 수리최소화문제(Equivalency mathematical Minimization program)로 구성할 수 없고 또한 수치적으로 풀기가 어렵다는 문제가 있다. 본 연구는 이런 문제점을 극복할 수 있는 모형식과 알고리듬을 제시코자 한다. 본 연구에서 제시된 모형은 2가지 특징이 있다. 먼저, 각 사용자 계층간의 상호영향을 모형내에 반영하며, 기종점쌍간의 통행시간변화에 따른 수요변화를 고려한다는 점이다. 이를 위하여 변동부등모형(Variational Inequality Model. VI)으로 문제를 구성하며, 이에 대한 해석 알고리듬도 제시한다. 또한, 변동부등모형으로 구축된 다사용자계층 모형이 다사용자계층 균형조건과 동일함을 보여주는 동등성조건(Equivalency condition)도 제시한다.

A Study on the Conversion for Early Free of charge on the Toll Road - In the place of Changwon Tunnel - (유료도로의 조기 무료화 전환에 관한 연구 - 창원터널을 중심으로 -)

  • This study suggests that prior to construction of the 2nd Changwon tunnel and implementation of the demanded free of charge on Changwon tunnel, it is recommended to improve the traffic facilities and management of the traffic condition in order to create an efficient road that will keep traffic flow to a minimum and maintain the facilities proper working order. It has been generally accepted that the 2nd Changwon tunnel is necessary to construct and open as soon as possible. This is due to the service level of current traffic volume in the Changwon tunnel pay toll road which have been so congested that the fees have increased causing a public complaint to be filed, demanding a early free of charge be implemented for the Changwon tunnel. Furthermore, the objective and impartial analysis of the traffic situation based on a simulation of the alternative and traffic congestion fees has been provided to make the early free of charge on toll road as soon as possible. Finally, careful attention should be paid to seek to make the early free of charge on toll road in order to minimize the damages both specified and unspecified that may arise the prompt settlement of construction repayments and security of minimum management fees should be given priority over other alternatives.

Development of The Freeway Operating Time Prediction Model Using Toll Collection System Data (고속도로 통행료수납자료를 이용한 통행시간 예측모형 개발)

  • The object of this study is to develop an operating time prediction model for expressways using toll collection data. A Prediction model based on modular neural network model was developed and tested using real data. Two toll collection system(TCS) data set. Seoul-Suwon section for short range and Seoul-Daejeon section for long range, in Kyongbu expressway line were collected and analyzed. A time series analysis on TCS data indicated that operating times on both ranges are in reasonable prediction ranges. It was also found that prediction for the long section was more complex than that for the short section. However, a long term prediction for the short section turned out to be more difficult than that for the long section because of the higher sensitivity to initial condition. An application of the suggested model produced accurate prediction time. The features of suggested prediction model are in the requirement of minimum (3) input layers and in the ability of stable operating time prediction.

  • To cope with traffic congestion, traffic accidents and lack of parking facilities, caused by dramatic increase in total vehicle number, vigorous researches on managing vehicles efficiently are done, both domestically and internationally. The vehicle license plate recognition makes effective management of traffic possible, with its wide application in many fields, covering from speed enforcement, collecting toll, stolen vehicle detection to parking management. The vehicle license plate recognition system causes high cost for collecting training data. Many researches are done by using the virtual sample method, which can be effective for utilizing limited number of training data by generating virtual sample. This paper investigates techniques to improve the performance of vehicle license plate recognition by using the training data's annexation. Also, popular methods for virtual sample creation used for text recognition algorithm are analyzed and their effectiveness is verified.

Development of a Freeway Travel Time Estimating and Forecasting Model using Traffic Volume (차량검지기 교통량 데이터를 이용한 고속도로 통행시간 추정 및 예측모형 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to develop travel time estimation and prediction models on the freeway using measurements from vehicle detectors. In this study, we established a travel time estimation model using traffic volume which is a principle factor of traffic flow changes by reviewing existing travel time estimation techniques. As a result of goodness of fit test. in the normal traffic condition over 70km/h, RMSEP(Root Mean Square Error Proportion) from travel speed is lower than the proposed model, but the proposed model produce more reliable travel times than the other one in the congestion. Therefore in cases of congestion the model uses the method of calculating the delay time from excess link volumes from the in- and outflow and the vehicle speeds from detectors in the traffic situation at a speed of over 70km/h. We also conducted short term prediction of Kalman Filtering to forecast traffic condition and more accurate travel times using statistical model The results of evaluation showed that the lag time occurred between predicted travel time and estimated travel time but the RMSEP values of predicted travel time to observations are as 1ow as that of estimation.

  • The main reason for urban traffic problems is the increasing in the use of private cars. In order to solve this problem, strong traffic demand management policies such as the collection of congestion tolls and the crackdown on freight vehicles are emerging. Now, however, it is necessary to seek ways for users to make changes in traffic behavior through direct communication between public agencies and passenger car users. As a technique to make this possible, mobility management, which aims to use rational passenger cars by inducing behavior change through individual consciousness change, has recently been proved to be effective in overseas. Therefore, this study concluded that the introduction of MM, which emphasizes individual voluntary behavior change, is necessary at present. In order to investigate the ways of inducing voluntary changes in traffic behavior of passenger car users, a questionnaire survey was conducted on traffic experts and the priorities of voluntary traffic behavior change measures were calculated using AHP. As a result of the analysis, it was shown that "to actively appeal to change the traffic behavior by using the mass media" was the top priority. The next priority were in order of company education for the change of traffic behavior, education for the school, and small-scale workshops.

An Analysis of Decision Making Process in Voluntary Reducing Private Car Use (자발적 자가용 이용 저감의 의사결정과정 분석 연구)

  • To relieve Green-house Gas Emission is the key issue in urban area. Urban transport policies have focused on the reduction of private car use. The most common of these is Travel Demand Management(e.g., congestion charge, environmental tax, etc.) that forces individuals to reduce their private car use. An alternative way is Mobility Management(MM) that induces individuals to voluntarily change their car use through communications. MM is founded on social psychology theory and focuses on individuals' decision making processes to change their perception and attitude on private car use. Although some researchers have reported the relevance of MM approach, still few researches have explicitly studied on individuals' decision making processes. Therefore, the aims of the paper are to analyze the decision making process of individuals and to provide the basis of introducing MM approach in Korea. Structural equation model(SEM) is applied for the analysis of individuals' decision making process. A empirical study shows that psychological factors such as perception/attitude on global environment or individual norms impact significantly to reduce private car use and accordingly the relevance of introducing MM approach instead of imposing regulations or expanding transport facilities.

Integrated Management Strategy of Vehicle Emission Reduction Policies Based on Total Benefits and Co-benefits (총 편익과 공 편익에 기반한 자동차 배출저감 정책의 통합관리 전략)

  • This study aims to propose integrated management strategies based on the relationship between co-benefits and total benefits of greenhouse gases and air pollutant emissions for establishing a transport and environmental policy. The results show that the integrated management of the following policies: 'Car Free Day' and 'Early Scrapping of Decrepit Diesel Vehicle', which are used for reducing reduce gasoline and diesel, can together reduce both PM and $CO_2$ emissions and increase total benefits. In addition, the integrated management of 'Car Free Day' with environment policies and 'Congestion Charge' with environment policies simultaneously controls the three factors which influence emissions, including travel volume, travel speed and emissions factor, and was found to be effective in terms of co-benefits. This study reduces both air pollutants, which are harmful to health, and greenhouse gas emissions, which influence climate change, and improves the efficiency of policy through the integrated management of policies.
