Preliminary Researches for the Deployment of New AIS-ASM Services (AIS-ASM 기반 신규 서비스 도입을 위한 선행 연구)

  • AIS is a core service in the maritime safety domain. AIS Message type #6 and #8(for binary date) can be used for carrying any kind of MSI(Maritime Safety Information). The MSC(Maritime Safety Committee) approved SN/Circ. 289 on Guidance on the use of AIS Application-Specific Messages in 2010. The MSI that carried by AIS-ASM can support to reduce the maritime accidents. Since a new AIS-ASM service places an additional load on the VDL(VHF Data Link), there should be a deployment process for new AIS-ASM services. In this paper we analyze the AIS-ASM services and survey the extended functions and systems for each AIS-ASM service. We also present the survey of the statistical analysis of local AIS messages. and suggest preliminary research topics for the deployment of new AIS-ASM services. VDL monitoring system, system for detection and removal of malfunctioning AIS equipments, and value analysis process of the MSI services are required.

Analysis of Relevance between Career Orientations and Job Characteristics of AIS User (AIS 사용자의 경력지향과 직무특성간의 관련성 분석)

  • To achieve this study, this study divide career orientations of AIS user into technology and management and group job characteristics into variety and autonomy and is to verify an effect of two factors on system performance (AIS satisfaction and use). The results of this study are as follows. First, there is a positive effect of the relevance between technology orientation and autonomy on AIS satisfaction. Second, there is a positive effect of the relevance between management orientation and job variety on AIS satisfaction. Third, there is a positive effect of the relevance between technology orientation and autonomy on AIS use, and finally, there is no positive effect of the relevance between management orientation and job variety on AIS use.

  • Recently, marine accidents such as the sinking accident Mongol freighter ship and the sinking accident of Sewol ferry in Jindo continuously happen. In order to decrease the number of these marine accidents, Korean ships are obliged to follow the AIS(Automatic Identification System) system. The AIS protocol includes all information for sailing ships. However, the standard AIS protocol does not provide any security function, In addition, it is possible to hijack the standard AIS protocol in case of using a satellite communication device called FUNcuve Dongle Pro+. Therefore, this paper analyzes weak points of the security in the standard AIS protocol. Furthermore, this paper ensures reliability by marking the MAC Address of sender and receiver for secure communication and suggests the protocol that can securely send data, using the VPN Tunnelling method. Therefore, the suggested AIS protocol provides the secure communication to the AIS protocol and protect the messages in the AIS protocol, which can serve safe voyages by decreasing the marine accidents.

  • The current AIS network and. system are run on a full scale with 22 ground stations and. 11 operational systems, completing a nation-wide, integrated network However, currently it needs to manage sea traffic by linking AIS to VIS which 1vs a limited service area due to restricted radar detection zones in harbors or coastal areas.   • AIS(Automatic Identification System) is a radionavigation equipment for exchanging safety related information between ships as well as ship and shore station, introduced by SOLAS convention and widely used especially in vessel traffic service. The dynamic data of AIS is transmitted at intervals of 2 second to 3 minutes depending on ship's navigational status and speed. However, so often times it happens that some AIS data can not be received due to increasing AIS traffic and it's time slot confliction. In this paper, a revised reporting intervals of AIS dynamic data is proposed in order to decrease AIS data link load.

  • The AIS(Automatic Identification System) has been widely used for ship safety at sea over the last 10 years. The AIS traffic load at VDL(VHF Data Link) has been continuously increased. As the traffic load at VDL increases, the quality of AIS service may be deteriorated. In the previous research, the AIS traffic has been analyzed in the major ports of Korea, and its problem due to traffic overload has been suggested. However, no solutions has been given so far. In this paper, the method of autimatically controlling the VDL traffic at AIS base station is represented.

  • AIS(Automatic Identification System) is an vessel traffic management system which exchanges vessel data with other nearby ships, AIS base stations using VHF band. A domestic AIS base station is located along coast lines or island. So it is difficult to collect vessel data from the ocean. To solve this problem, we adopted AIS payload on the low earth orbit satellite. The AIS payload on the satellite is interfaced with OBC(On-Board Computer) via UART and the FSW(Satellite Flight Software) manages it. The FSW have to receive AIS command from ground station and forward to AIS payload. Similarly FSW have to receive response, OBP, OGP data from AIS payload and it is downlink to the ground station. So in this paper we describe the FSW design & implementation for AIS payload.

  • 선박의 안전운항을 위하여 AIS를 탑재하는 선박은 지속적으로 증가하고 있으나 이에 따른 기지국 환경은 변하지 않고 있다. 현재의 AIS 기지국은 초기에 광역의 통신권을 확보하기 위한 최적지에 설치되어 있으나, 기지국 통신권의 과다 확보, AIS 통신 용량의 한계, AIS 탑재 선박의 증가 등으로 인하여 AIS 슬롯 간 충돌이 발생할 가능성이 높아지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 AIS 기지국의 광역 통신환경에 따른 슬롯 간 간섭에 의한 AIS 메시지의 오류 확률에 대하여 분석하였다.

MOB 장치가 AIS VDL에 미치는 영향 분석

  • 최근 AIS 기술을 적용한 MOB(Man Overboard) 장치가 개발되고 있으나 이에 대한 국제적인 기술표준 뿐만 아니라 우리나라의 기술기준도 아직까지 마련되어 있지 않다. MOB가 사용하는 주파수가 AIS 주파수와 동일하기 때문에 AIS VDL(VHF Data Link)에 미치는 영향이 파악되지 않았기 때문이다. 본 연구에서는 AIS 기술을 적용한 MOB가 AIS VDL에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 기술기준을 마련하는데 있어서 고려해야 할 사항을 제시하였다.

  • 해상에서의 선박충돌사고 예방에 대한 연구가 IMO를 중심으로 꾸준히 지속되어 왔다. 이러한 항해장비 중에서 AIS는 중요한 역할을 수행하여 왔다. AIS 장비를 통하여 전송되는 정보에는 정적 정보와 동적 정보 및 항해 관련 정보로 구분할 수 있다. 정적 정보에는 MMSI, 선명, 호출부호, IMO번호, 선박길이 및 선폭, 선종 등 선박이 이동해도 변하지 않는 정보로 구성되고, 동적 정보에는 선박의 위치, 시간, 대지침로, 대지속력, 선수방위, 항행상태, ROT(Rate of Turn) 등 선박이 이동함에 따라 변화하는 정보로 구성된다. 그리고 항해 관련 정보에는 흘수, 위험화물, 목적지, ETA 등이 해당된다. 하지만, 이러한 정보들에 대한 활용도의 우선순위 및 정보의 적정성 등에 대해서는 아직까지 조사된 것이 없는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 AIS 장비의 실 사용자를 대상으로 한 설문조사 및 분석을 통하여 AIS 송수신 정보들에 대한 활용도의 우선순위 및 정보의 적정성 등에 대해 검토해보고 필요시 개선 필요성을 제시하며 아울러 AIS 장비의 개선점도 검토해 보고자 한다.
