  • Correspondent acupunture like Dong's acupunture is widely used clinically upon musculoskeletal diseases chiefly and closely connected meridians theory. But Correspondent acupunture in scale is regardless of meridian pathways and acupoint. It is operated on a part fit for the seat of disease that is one of body for example the left upper limb, right lower limb etc. It is ranked in order of each organ size. Because the ranked part is inclusive of whole body and internal organs in scale, Correspondent acupunture in scale can be applied to every internal disease. As this acupuncture was operated at patients visited to Dong-Gang Oriental Hospital, it was effective in improvement of internal disease clinically and have merits of not operated on a seat of disease directly.

  • This study was designed to investigate acupunture and moxibustion for uterine bleeding through literature research. We extracted the parts about acupunture, moxibustion and both of acupunture and moxibustion for uterine bleeding from ancient and modern oriental medical literature. The results were summerized as follows; 1. The acupoints used on acupunture only were 58 acupoints. The acupoints used often were SP6, LR3, SP10, CV3, CV6 in order and the meridians used often were SP, CV, LV, KI in order. 2. The acupoints used on moxibustion only were 38 acupoints. The acupoints used often were SP10, SP1, SP6, CV4, CV6 in order and the meridians used often were SP, CV, KI, GV in order. 3. The acupoints used on both of acupunture and moxibustion were 22 acupoints. The acupoints used often were SP6, LR3, SP10, KI10 in order and the meridians used often were LV, SP, KI in order.

  • Objective : I planned to write this paper to use more Dong-Si acupunture treatment clinically by comparing Dong-Si acupunture with common acupunture for lumbago. Methods : This study was carried out on 56 patients with lumbago who were hospitalized in Dongshin Univ. Oriental Hospital from 1st, April, 2001 to 31st, Octover, 2001. Group A of 28 patients were taken both common acupunture and Dong-Si acupunture. And Group B of 28 patients were only taken common acupunture. And after 10 days of admission, I checked and compared VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) and improvement index out of these two groups. Results : In improvement index, Group A is $0.3932{\pm}0.1073$ and Group B is $0.2793{\pm}0.1080$. So Group A is thought to be significant(P=0.000). In VAS(Visual Analogue Scale), Group A is $6.9286{\pm}1.4889$ and Group B is $5.0000{\pm}1.4142$. So Group A is also thought to be significant(P=0.0000). Conclusion : The group with both Dong-Si acupunture and common acupunture treatment is more effective than the group with common acupunture treatment.

Methods : 53 person were selected among patients hospitalized in Dong-eui Oriental medical hospital from 1st, May, 2005 to 1st, Oct, 2005. They were divided into two groups, i.e acupuncture group and ginger-herbal acupuncture group. For 2 weeks, 22 patients were treated by ginger-herbal acupuncture treatments and 31 patients were treated by only acupuncture treatments. Research tools are Visual Analogue Scale by Cline et al. for measuring the severity of shoulder pain, and measured Range of Movement of shoulder joint Results : The ginger-herbal acupuncture treatments group showed significant pain decrease while acupuncture treatments group showed pain decrease. The range of shoulder movement was not significantly improved in both 2 groups. Conclusion : Based on the above results, it can be determined that ginger-herbal acupuncture therapy can be used as the effective treatments for reducing of shoulder pain. But more cases are to be studied in order to make more effective treatments in the case of shoulder pain of paralytic patients.

  • Objective : Recently, many studies have showed the evidences of the effect of the acupunture treatment through scientific methods. One of these methods is functional MRI. We performed electro-acupunture on Sp6 and observed the changes of brain activation using fMRI. Methods : To see the effect of electro-acupunture stimulation on Sp6, the experiment was carried out on 12 healthy volunteers, using the gradient echo sequence with the 3.0T whole-body MRI system(ISOL). After the needle insertion on right Sp6, 2Hz of electric stimulation was given for 30 seconds, repeated five times, with 30 seconds' intervals. The Image analysis including motion correction, talairach transformation, and smoothing was done with SPM99. Results : 1. Group averaged brain activation induced by bilateral eletro-acupunture stimulation on Sp6 activates Brodman Area 3, 7, 13. 2. Group averaged brain deactivation induced by bilateral eletro-acupunture stimulation on Sp6 activates Brodman Area 6, 38, 47. 3. Group averaged brain activation induced by unilateral(right side) eletro-acupunture stimulation on Sp6 activates Brodman Area 5, 6, 13, 17, 18, 19, 31, 38, 40 ptoms, back pain(32.5%) was the 4. Group averaged brain deactivation induced by unilateral(right side) eletro-acupunture stimulation on Sp6 activates Brodman Area 3, 4, 18, 21, 36, 38, 39. 5. Brain region activated by motor stimulation activates Brodman Area 3, 4, 6, 18, 19.
