Studies on Effective Fluid Monitoring Terminal design with the Use of location-based service (위치기반서비스를 활용한 효율적인 수액 모니터링 단말기 디자인에 관한 연구)

  • Fluid is normally used so that certain drug can be administered to patients for certain period of time. There are many incidents in which patients or guardians need to call upon medical staff after estimating the time of fluid injection termination. In case fluid injection is terminated during certain period such as sleeping time or others, it may cause more fatigue for either patients or guardians. Also, it may lead to ineffective work as medical staff needs to monitor the quantity of fluid several times in order to check the time of fluid injection termination. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to propose LBS system combined of minimum equipment and active RFID to monitor the level of fluid in order to solve abovementioned problems. Also, it is expected to enhance the quality of medical service with service in which real-time monitoring of fluid quantity and patient location is conducted to provide accurate information to either patients, guardians, or medical staff(nurse) so that medical staff can locate and see patients at the time of fluid injection termination.

  • This paper aims to present the physical computing learning model applicable in teaching the information and communication technology for technology and engineering education. This model is based on the physical computing and deals with the information creation and information transfer in one framework, thus provides students with the total understanding and practice opportunity about information and communication. The proposed learning models are classified into the client-server based model and the web based model. In the implemented learning model, the acquirement and control of information is performed by sketch on Arduino and the communication of information is performed by the Python socket on Raspberry Pi well known as an education platform. Our proposed learning model can be used for teaching students to understand the concept of Internet of Things (IoT), which provides us with world wide control and communication of information.

  • Our study is composed of Arduino robot assembly, board connecting and collaborative programming learning, and it is to evaluate their effect on improving secondary mathematics-science gifted students' convergence capability. Research results show that interpersonal skills, information-scientific creativity and integrative thinking disposition are improved. Further, by analyzing the relationship between the sub-elements of each thinking element, persistence and imagination for solving problems, interest of scientific information, openness, sense of adventure, a logical attitude, communication, productive skepticism and so on are extracted as important factors in convergence learning. Thus, as the result of our study, we know that gifted students conducted various thinking activities in their learning process to solve the problem, and it can be seen that convergence competencies are also improved significantly.

  • In this paper, a danger signal to tell caregivers when a dangerous situation occurs, the bio-signal analysis in infants to prevent sudden infant death sudden infant death propose a monitoring system. The Sudden infant death (SID) refers to a healthy baby is unexplained deaths between birth year in the month. Sudden infant death proposed monitoring system is composed of a processor unit and the monitoring and alarm part for processing part and the biological signal sensing biological signals. Using the PPG sensor to sense the bio-signal and the processor unit the signal obtained through the sensor by removing the motion artifact was able to alarm and monitoring the parent.The proposed system will send the alarm to monitoring and alerting caregivers if the risk situation by analyzing the heart rate of the infant. With the actual implementation of the system to evaluate the performance of the monitoring system.

  • The ability of computational thinking is a key competence that person of talent in the future should keep. Computational thinking is a serial process in which a problem is defined in context of computing, stages of abstraction are processed in order to find the efficient solution, the most appropriate process and resources for a solution are selected and combined through algorithms which use various concepts, principles and methods for automatic implementation of abstract concepts. It needs appropriate learning content in stage of elementary school. This study has verified the effect it made on improvement of learner's creative personality by developing and applying the educational content for software education based on the integrative production. The result of study confirmed that learning through the educational content for software education based on the integrative production affects improvement on learner's creativity positively and suggested a method of applying it to computing education in elementary school.

  • Physical computing is utilizing principles of computing in the process of expressing one's ideas creatively and implementing them into tangible objects by combining hardware and software. Recent deployment of open source hardware and 3D printers increased the accessibility of physical computing. However, incorporating these into educational practices requires teachers' interest and competencies. This study aims to share the perceived opportunities of developing physical computing based lessons and challenges from teachers' experiences while primary teachers participated in learning fundamentals of physical computing and developing lessons. The findings of this study provide implications to the teachers who are interested in adopting physical computing into classes and in designing teacher training programs.

  • In this paper, we propose a system for transmitting army hand signals using motion sensors. The proposed system consists of a squad commander device, squad member devices, and a server. The squad command device and squad member device have been implemented using a micro arduino, an accelerometer sensor, and a gyroscope sensor, and the server has been implemented using a Rasberry Pi 3. Because the devices are made in the form of band, they are lightweight and portable. The proposed system can transmit the hand signals through vibration in conditions of poor visibility. We have designed and implemented the squad member device to be able to recognize four military hand signals. Through experiments, the proposed system have shown 88.82% of correct recognition. In conclusion, we expect to increase effectiveness of army operations and survival rate of soldiers.

  • Comparing the past and the present in agriculture, society is losing people who work in farming, and the age of those who remain is increasing. Farmers are interested in special crops if the agricultural products' costs are low and the crops are easy to grow. If the area where a crop grows is bad, the agricultural products' quality gets worse. To overcome this situation, a new approach is being tried with crops. This research offers new technology to the young generation. This paper proposes technology that uses Internet of Things techniques to automatically sparge water and pesticide on orchards and fields using a machine instead of a person. We used the open source Arduino and sensor modules to build the automatic system. In this research, a circuit was simplified, and we constructed the proper size of the system by preventing errors in sensors, keeping distance from objects, and minimizing circuit collision. The machine drives and turns its head to sparge agricultural pesticides. The machine will minimize harmful effects caused by pesticides on humans, and will be helpful to farmers.

An Observation-based Movement Control for Educational Coding Robots (코딩 학습용 로봇 제어를 위한 관찰 기반 움직임 제어)

  • Recently, a variety of methodologies based on the use of educational coding robots have been proposed and experimented in newly emerging korean educational coding markets. Due to imprecise movement accuracy of the existing coding robots, however, such robots are mainly used as a toy. Inspired by these observations, we developed a simple adjustment method during robot movements, which is based on the observation results of 6 line-tracking sensors: 3 sensors in the center of a robot and other 3 sensors at the front. These sensors help to determine whether the robot is in the right location and whether it rotates as expected. Through the well-designed experiments, we report the effectiveness of our proposed solution: the average distance error of 1.57cm and the average degree error of 2.38 degree before and after complex movements. In near future, we hope our method to be popularly used in various educational coding robot platforms.

Design of Access Security System in conjunction with SNS Service based on the Physical Computing (피지컬 컴퓨팅 기반에서의 SNS 서비스를 연계한 출입 보안 시스템 설계)

  • Today, various access security technology appeared in this society as a result of the informatization and automation. Most building, floor, or door security certification system for the office units are installed, but there are many inconvenient matters. In order to minimises this, we used the face recognition function via the camera, and various sensors. In this paper, I designed the access security system through physical computing which Arduino offered, facial recognition program, and Twitter. Check that the personal information stored in the individual RFID tag is matched to the personal information stored on the existing server. Face recognition program input the face using a camera, and allow to confirm the identity. The system's abnormal or when the unauthenticated person is to penetrate, the system transmits the Twitter status message to the manager. It was designed continuously to monitor the status in real time in this way.
