  • This study presented the new evaluation index which can evaluate the discrimination of DEA models. To evaluate the discrimination of DEA models, data were analyzed using importance index as suggested in previous study and the coefficient of variation as suggested in this study for the discrimination evaluation. This study selected the CCR-DEA, BCC-DEA, entropy, bootstrap, super efficiency, and cross efficiency DEA model for the discrimination evaluation and accomplished empirical analysis. In order to grasp the rank correlation of the models, this study implemented the rank correlation analysis between the efficiency of CCR model and BCC model and entropy, bootstrap, super efficiency, and efficiency of the cross efficiency model. The obtained results of this study are as follows. First, the discrimination rank of models using the importance index and the coefficient of variation was shown to be identical. Therefore, the coefficient of variation can be used the discrimination evaluation index of DEA model. Second, the discrimination of the super efficiency model was found to be the highest rank among 4 models according to the analysis of this present study. Third, the highest rank correlation with CCR model was the super efficiency model. In addition, the super efficiency model was found to be the highest rank correlation with BCC model.

  • Purpose: Although the role of eosinophils in eosinophilic gastroenteritis (EGE) is not fully understood, they are believed to be a principal effector cell. Previous studies have demonstrated that eotaxin and its specific receptor, cysteine-cysteine chemokine receptor-3 (CCR3), play a central role in eosinophil trafficking into the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Thus, we examined the targeting of CCR3 as a potential therapeutic intervention for EGE in a mouse model. Methods: Eight- to 10-week-old BALB/c mice were intraperitoneally sensitized and intragastrically challenged with ovalbumin (OVA). Different groups of mice were administered either an anti-CCR3 antibody or a control IgG by intraperitoneal injection 1 hour before each OVA challenge. Eosinophilic inflammation in the intestinal mucosa, mucosal injury, and severity of diarrhea were compared between different groups at 1 hour after final OVA challenge. Results: Anti-CCR3 antibody reduced the number of eosinophils in peripheral blood and intestinal mucosa, but not in bone marrow. This reduction was associated with restoration of reduced villous crypt ratio, increased intestinal epithelial cell proliferation, and weight loss induced by OVA challenge. However, Anti-CCR3 antibody had no effect on the level of OVA specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) and the expression of critical chemokines or cytokines in eosinophil trafficking into the GI tract, such as eotaxin-1, interleukin (IL)-5, and IL-13. Conclusions: Anti-CCR3 antibody significantly reduced the severity of eosinophilic inflammation, mucosal injury, and diarrhea in a mouse model of food allergen-induced GI eosinophilic inflammation. CCR3 may be a novel therapeutic target for treatment of EGE and other GI eosinophil-mediated diseases.

  • This study is to analyze the efficiency of Korean sea food manufacturing using Data Envelopment Analysis. Firstly, based on an output oriented traditional CCR, BCC model, the study estimated the efficiency scores. The average estimates of technical, pure technical, and scale efficiency turned out 0.6517, 0.7184, 0.9074 respectively, which are separated for 50 marine corporations. The 10 DMUs were efficient under CCR model while the 17 DMUs under BCC model. Also, the study suggested that the operating profit of the two output factors should be more increased relatively and averagely from the viewpoint of efficiency improvement. Secondly, super efficiency scores are estimated under super efficiency and SBM model. As a result, it came to be possible to distinguish and rank the efficiency of the efficient DMUs. The highest score was 4.2975 under Super-CCR, was 2.4947 under Super-BCC, was 2.7160 under SBM-Super-CCR, and was 1.5319 under SBM-Super-BCC model. The average estimates of super efficiency were 0.76 and 0.82 under Super-CCR and Super-BCC model respectively, and were 0.61 and 0.67 under SBM-Super-CCR and SBM-Super-BCC model. Finally, the study conducted a rank-sum test, Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test, to find a statistical significance of heterogeneity existing in efficiencies among the sample corporations. The result showed that there was a significant difference in average efficiency between Dried, Salted product manufacturing and Frozen product manufacturing under BCC-Super efficiency model at 10% level of significance. Furthermore, TOBIT model was applied to find out the potential factors that might influence the efficiency, Wilcoxonand the results showed debt and sales cost influenced all of the technical, pure technical, and scale efficiency, while net profit influenced only the technical efficiency.

  • C-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CCR4) is a chemokine receptor with seven transmembrane helices and it belongs to the GPCR family. It plays an important role in asthma, lung disease, atopic dermatitis, allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, the mosquito-borne tropical diseases, such as dengue fever and allergic rhinitis. Because of its role in wide spectrum of disease processes, CCR4 is considered to be an important drug target. Three dimensional structure of the protein is essential to determine the functions. In the present study homology modeling of human CCR4 was performed based on crystal structure of CCR5 chemokine receptor. The generated models were validated using various parameters. Among the generated homology models the best one is selected based on validation result. The model can be used for performing further docking studies to identifying the critical interacting residues.

  • This study fist raises the following research question. How does the port congestion affect port operational efficiency? To answer the question, this study adopts slacks based measure data envelopment analysis (SBM-DEA) model to analyze the efficiency of port considering the congestion. As a result of the DEA-CCR(Chanres, Cooper and Rhodes) model, both Busan(2011) and Ulsan(2011) are the most efficient decision making units(DMUs). As a result of the DEA-BCC(Banker, Chanrnes, and Cooper) model, Busan(2011), Ulsan(2011), Ulsan(2012), Busan(2012), and Yeosu Gwangyang(2012) are the most efficient DMUs. As a result of SBM-DEA model, Ulsan(2012), Busan(2011), Busan(2012), Incheon(2011), and Ulsan(2011) are the most efficient DMUs considering the port congestion. The result of DEA-CCR BCC model is not identical with the result of SBM-DEA model analysis. It means the port congestion does less affect the port operational efficiency. Should the number of the vessels with the port congestion minimize, Incheon and Yeosu Gwangyang port could save lots of the port congestion cost for a total of three years.

  • In the study, we estimate efficiencies using CCR model of DEA, Super efficiency(AP) model, and super-SBM model with the data of 32 regional public hospitals in Korea from 205 to 2009. With Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney statistics, we analyze efficiency differences for environmental factors(regions, type of hospital, type of operations, type of education training, relative importance of madicaids) among regional public hospitals. The results can be summarized as follows. Firstly, technical inefficiencies of regional public hospitals range from 15% to 17% in CCR model, 13% to 15% in AP model, 7% to 12.6% in SuperSBM model. Second, we confirm that environmental factors of hospitals cause different inefficiencies among them. The implication of this study is that policy and institutional change may need to improve the efficiencies along with internal managerial reform.

  • The chemokine receptor CCR1 a GPCR super family protein contains seven transmembrane domains. It plays an important role in rheumatoid arthritis, organ transplant rejection, Alzheimer's disease and also causes inflammation. Because of its role in disease processes, antagonism of CCR1 became an attractive therapeutic target. In the current study, we have taken a novel series of recently reported CCR1 antagonist of 1-(4-Phenylpiperazin-1-yl_-2-(1H-Pyrazol-1-yl) ethanone derivatives and performed a HQSAR analysis. The model was developed with Atom (A) and bond (B) parameters and with different set of atom counts to improve the model. The results of HQSAR showed good predictive ability in terms of $r^2$ (0.904) and $q^2$ (0.590) with 0.710 as standard error of prediction and 0.344 as standard error of estimate. The contribution map depicted the atom contribution in inhibitory effect. Compound-14 which was reported to be a highly active compound showed positive atom contribution in three R groups ($R^3$. $R^{5a}$ and $R^{2b}$) in inhibitory effect, which could be the reason why this compound is highly active compound whereas, the lowest active compound-6 showed negative contribution to inhibitory effect.

  • This article is to analyze the service efficiency of public sector using Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA). We tried to measure the public service quality and overall satisfaction by using several DEA models, degree of combination and top2box which is a little bit different methodology from traditional ones. We used CCR, Super-efficiency and Slack based measure(SBM) model in DEA to measure public service efficiency of the 16 public institutions(7 City Halls and 9 Provincial offices). Since the traditional method based on the measurement model(CCR, BCC) has the fundamental problems without taking account of the existence of slacks inputs and outputs in several efficient units, we suggest to measure the exact amount of efficiency and inefficiency of the public sector and rank analysis many efficient units exactly through the slacks-based measure model(SBM)
