A Study on the Selection Displacement Curve Function for Cam Design of Double Cam Type Beating Mechanism Based on Cam Mechanism Simulation (캠 기구의 시뮬레이션을 이용한 더블캠 방식 바디침 기구의 캠 설계를 위한 변위선도함수 선정에 관한 연구)

  • A beating motion is one of the main motions of the rapier loom. The beating motion locates yarn to a desired position after weft insertion motion. There are two kinds of mechanism for beating motion. One is crank lever type and the other is double cam type. Crank lever type usually used low speed rapier loom. In other hand double cam type used high speed rapier loom. Cam part in double cam type beating mechanism is very important. Cam design starts at displacement curve design. This study investigated four different displacement curves selected from various kinds of displacement curve functions. Thus this paper proposed how to select optimized displacement curve function for double cam type beating mechanism of high speed rapier loom using cam simulation. And then, presents the comparable data of pressure angle, cam contact force and driving torque per each of displacement curve to determine the optimized displacement curve function.

  • For a linkage mechanism deiven by cam, cam profile is the major design factor and is determined by the motion type od cam follower. If a cam mechanism has additional kinematic linkages besides cam and follower then the follower motion should be specified form the motion of end linkage member so that cam would be able to generate the desired end linkage motion. In this paper, a cam-linkage mechanism is constructed with the combinations of modular linkage elements including cam and follower and as a resullt, a planar cam-linkage mechanism design software with the cam profile optimization function is developed and presented.

  • A CAM program for forming design Automated of CAM for Spring using car was developed in this study. This program was written in AUTO-LISP on the AUTO-CAD system with a personal. An approach to the system is based on the kinemateic of the object function. We make a determination of an cam programming. A cam spline is continuous in displacement, velocity and acceleration. The best cam curve is obtained by changing the kinemateic of the object function. The result has improved all characteristics such as velocity, acceleration and displacement compared with that of the modified cycloid curve.

  • The application of cubic spline is presented for basic curve (DRD motion) of cam motion. The purpose of this paper is to achieve better dynamic characteristics than general cam curves. A cubic spline is a piecewise function that is continuous in displacement, velocity and acceleration. The best cam curve is obtained by changing the weights of the object function. So the method can be used to any machine system case by case. For the proposed object function, the result has improved all characteristics such as velocity, acceleration and jerk compared with that of the modified sine curve.

  • The rate of wear of cam followers in a valve train system is mainly a function of contact stress between the cam and the follower, sliding velocity and hydrodynamic film thickness between the two mating surfaces. The wear or surface fatigue can be reduced by maximizing the elastohydrodynamic film thickness. In this paper, an attempt has been made to estimate the optimal specific film thickness of cam-follower system quantitatively. A general TES polynomial function with real values of exponents is developed and genetic algorithm (GA) is used as optimization techniques for maximizing the minimum specific film thickness. The optimization programs enumerate values of the exponents for synthesis of cam displacement curves. The results show that the minimum film thickness can be increased considerably, e.g. approximately 7% in this paper.

  • This paper describes the wire EDM (Electric Discharge Machining) CAM system considering a variable taper wire-cut and an unmanned wire EDM during the night. Wire EDM is applicable to all materials that are fairly good electrical conductors, including metals, alloys and most carbide. Thus it provides a relatively simple method for making holes of any desired cross section in materials that are too hard or brittle to be machined by most other methods. In this paper we classify variable taper wire-cut machining patterns and variable taper wire-cut geometries. Also we determine unmanned wire EDM patterns fur the productivity of wire EDM industry. Developed system consists of two modules: 1) Variable taper wire EDM module guarantees the length ratio machining function, the parametric ratio machining function and the marking function. 2) Unmanned wire EDM module guarantees the automatic wire EDM during the night. The proposed system has been tested in the fields and found to be a useful system.

  • In this paper, the huffman decoder which is a part of the decoder in JPEG standard format is designed by using a new Ternary CAM. First, the 256 word * 16 bit-size new bit-word all parallel Ternary CAM system is designed and verified using SPICE and CADENCE Verilog-XL, and then the verified novel Ternary CAM is applied to the new huffman decoder architecture of JPEG. So the performnce of the designed CAM cell and it's block is verified. The new Ternary CAM has various applications because it has search data mask and storing data mask function, which enable bit-wise search and don't care state storing. When the CAM is used for huffman look-up table in huffman decoder, the CAM is partitioned according to the decoding symbol frequency. The scheme of partitioning CAM for huffman table overcomes the drawbacks of all-parallel CAM with much power and load. So operation speed and power consumption are improved.

  • In this paper, and optimum profile of a cam being used in a VTR Deck mechanism is designed by the response surface analysis. The objective function of the design is to reduce driving torque of the pinch roller system that is used to compress video tape to the capstan motor axia. The pinch roller system that will be designed is modeled using the general purpopse mechanism analysis program DADS. The computer model is compared with the physical system for reliability. A model function to represent relationship between design variables and the objective function is estimated by the response surface analysis. Once the model function is reliably estimated the optimal design is carried out using the model function and each design variable's boundaries. To verify improvement of the pinch roller system, a prototype for the pinch rooler system is made and tested. From the test result, an optimum cam profile to resuce driving torque of the pinch roller system is verified.
