  • In modern society, a spontaneous phenomenon that community residents' participation in crime prevention sphere is increasing now due to the recognition that it is extremely difficult to control crime only by the limited official power(police) is spreading in the society. In the consideration of crime occurrence, the fear of crime does not belong to a certain person any more, but it turns to a matter of common interest for all people. If the recognition of community problems is well understood and analysed, the effect of community residents' participation in crime prevention will appear more eminent and definite. For a long period of time, thanks to the community residents' participation in crime prevention, it has been possible to sustain safety and stability of local community. Ultimately not only the police could reduce the crime problems but local community could decrease a fear of crime. In this study, for maximized effect of crime prevention, it is focused on the role of the community residents' participation in crime prevention. For desirable interrelations among service group and residents, police, first the review of situational crime prevention and community crime prevention theory was studied. And the community residents participation to crime prevention activity in U.S.A, Japan etc was reviewed. By interviewing actual participants in community crime prevention activity, the problems and countermeasures of the community residents' participation in crime prevention activity and desirable direction was suggested

  • Recently, converging Big Data and IoT(Internet of Things)has become mainstream, and public sector is no exception. In particular, this combinationis applicable to crime prevention in Korea. Crime prevention has evolved from CPTED (Crime Prevention through Environmental Design) to ubiquitous crime prevention;however, such a physical engineering method has the limitation, for instance, unexpected exposureby CCTV installed on the street, and doesn't have the function that automatically alarms passengers who pass through a criminal zone.To overcome that, this paper offers a crime prevention method using Big Data from public organizations along with IoT. We expect this work will help construct an intelligent crime-prevention system to protect the weak in our society.

  • Since the 1950s, crime prevention was to figure out how dissident. Unlike traditional crime prevention was a point of view. Physical environment and a method to prevent crime, "Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design: CPTED)" is the prevention of crime, property crime, criminals and human right with the surrounding environment. These CPTED has a variety of factors. Natural surveillance of these is the most basic elements. Natural surveillance is monitored by monitoring the behavior of criminals, to prevent crime. CPTED was the large majority of existing studies focused on a study area. However, this study examined the area around a house. Made to secure the hypothesis of natural surveillance to affect fear of crime. Research on fear of crime and crime victimization declined. Thus, the securing of natural surveillance proved to be effective in crime prevention in this study.

  • This study was to confirm the effectiveness of crime prevention in an apartment complex environmentally designed for domestic crime prevention. The researchers surveyed 267 residents on the community, fear of crime, and crime victimization. They arrived at the following conclusions. The authorization complex received higher security satisfaction results than the unauthorized complex; residents were less afraid of crime and more active in the apartment complex community. These results differ from previous studies in that the fear of crime is not related to a crime victim experience and that the fear of crime is low when there are less households in the apartment complex. Therefore, effectiveness of crime prevention abroad should not be accepted in a domestic residential environment.

It also can be quite important elicit the interest of who community members through effective crime prevention strategies. For crime prevention policies and techniques over time as more scientific and advanced methods are made. Today, A typical crime prevention strategies is private security zones and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) is a corresponding to the new strategy. CPTED is a diversification can be called a crime prevention approach that emphasizes the principle of natural surveillance, access control, territoriality, activity support, maintenance and management. The defensible space of the space area related to crime prevention setting the activities of private security and CPTED determine. Also, the reality of crime prevention and protection should be considered space. The emphasis on proactive prevention of crime in modern society for the prevention of crime how to approach differing perspectives and disparate aspects of private security and CPTED. Technical and professional areas that overlap to some extent in a homogeneous aspect. Ultimately, CPTED is a crime prevention through space and environmental approach for crime. In addition, Ultimate goal of convergence, crime prevention, with the same or higher is required to study for the area after looking for the characteristics and limitations of private security and CPTED.

However, they have become major targets of the crime, as sexual abuse, abduction, abuse, domestic violence, school violence and so on. To solve these problems, it is important to educate crime prevention for children all above. Entertainment is one of the edutainment's elements. It attracts voluntary participation, immersion, and continuous learning from children. Edutainment contents for prevention of crime against children are far less fully studied than that of school subject as Mathematics, English, and so on. There is no serious study on edutainment contents for prevention of crime against children, as well as base study and approach way. Now more than ever, safety needs are strongly demanded in society. Accordingly, study on edutainment contents for prevention of crime against children have been demanded more than ever. In this paper we shall see basic approach principles and planning process of web-based edutainment contents for prevention of crime against children. This study lays the foundation for future work on edutainment contents for prevention of crime against children.

  • In this study, we proposed GIS-based Regional Crime Prevention Index (RCPI) development method designed to support local governments with systematic crime prevention activities. The public interest in safe urban environment is increasing rapidly. The government is putting efforts into crime prevention activities to eliminate the criminal opportunities in advance. CPTED is method to prevent crimes in the city by improving environmental factors that cause crime. It is used by local governments to promote the crime prevention activities centering on the expansion of CCTVs and street lamps and the improvement of street environment. However, most policies were terminated as one-off programs and it is necessary to monitor the effect of such policies on a continuous basis. In order to alleviate issues, this study proposed RCPI as part of crime safety assessment in urban environments. The estimation of RCPI in City A of Gyeonggi-do showed relative differences in 31 districts (dong), indicating that it is also possible to evaluate the crime safety in the local community on the level of the administrative dong, the smallest administrative district in the urban environments. As a crime map, the RCPI will be used effectively as he reference to support the decision making process for local government in the future.

  • Multi-unit house, multi-household house, row house and apartments with less than 500 households were included in the list of anti-crime for buildings following the revision of the "notice of crime prevention building standards" on July 31, 2019. Strengthening the performance of crime prevention buildings is inevitable to increase the cost of building construction, including installation of preventive facilities and use of facilities that have secured performance. Thus an economic analysis on the costs and expected benefits of implementing the standards is required for social consensus. Economic analysis is divided into cost analysis and benefit analysis. This study aims to perform an economic analysis on the installation of crime prevention facilities in the buildings subject to expanded crime prevention obligations. Cost analysis is calculated as the sum of the cost of installation and the price of the crime prevention facilities installed for each target residential building. Benefit analysis is calculated as the social cost of targeted crimes that are expected to decrease due to the installation of crime prevention facilities. Economic analysis shows that the total cost of installing crime prevention facilities in residential buildings is estimated at 107.31 billion won per year, while the total benefit from enhanced crime prevention performance is estimated at 9.38 billion won per year. Considering inflation, benefits are expected to outpace costs in the 28th year since the system was implemented.
