Development of Common Database for the Application Programs of Distribution Management System (배전운영시스템용 응용 프로그램을 위한 공통 데이터베이스 구축)

  • In recent years, the development of application programs for distribution system analysis and control has been essential part for distribution management system (DMS). In this paper, we propose the common database for application programs of distribution management system. The proposed database model has several characteristics as followings. First, the proposed database model is designed for the common use of almost the whole distribution application software. The static equipment model and dynamic type tables are mixed and the parallel table structure is applied. Second, the linked list structure of database are used for the fast processing of applications. The database model includes the hierarchy and non-hierarchy distribution system structure. Third, the reduction method of distribution database is applied. For this, we present the network reduction rules. The basic concept of reduction rules are the electrical unification of successive line section which has not lateral branches and the removal of simple lateral branches which has no devices and other laterals. Proposed database model is tested for the Jeju system of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). Through the test, we verified that the proposed database structure can be effectively used to accomplish the distribution system operation.

A Study on the Application of Web Database for Healthy City Wonju (건강도시 웹데이터베이스 활용방안 연구: 원주시 사례)

  • The purpose of this study is to introduce the web database for healthy city Wonju that contains healthy city indicators and materials. It has provided diverse information to public officers who are working on healthy city projects and citizens for monitoring and evaluating the projects, effectively. The web database was made on 2006 and was updated on 2009. The new Web database system was designed for supporting that the staffs of healthy city can manage all data update by themselves. The new Web database encompasses more recent information about health city projects. After identifying users' needs and reasons for modifying the fields of data, we added new indicators to the Web database. Some redundant indicators were deleted based on users' requests. The Web database quality evaluations were performed by using 13 quality evaluations constructs. Through all 13 constructs, less than 20% of study subjects felt that it did not satisfy their needs or expectations. Well developed and verified contents of the Web database for healthy city are very essential and important. The database makes healthy city projects alive by managing and sharing healthy city related data and indicators effectively.

  • One of the consideration issue in implementation and maintanence of CIM(Computer Integrated Manufacturing) database is exchange and sharing of information between heterogeneous databases. For efficient operating of SIM systems, it must be able to organize and to manage the information. In this paper, we propose method that can make enhance the efficiency of CIM database, classfying the data in database using self organize neural network to each database systems, and computing between classfied heterogeneous database using extended operator that is defined.

  • According to database and information technology development, many interests of database quality control have being increase. The purpose of database quality control is improvement quality of data itself as well as database system to satisfy user's need. As this paper was especially written about quality control of bibliographic database, to embody complete bibliographic database, it was invested numerous errors and its case by analyzing MARC records. In addition, it was presented that high degree's cataloging education, introduction of su n.0, pporting systems, and development of intelligent quality control system for quality improvement.

  • In a design-to-manufacturing environment, the product data is shared by various CAD/CAM/CAE systems with little integration or substantial data redundancy. The main purpose of this paper is to build a database containing all the features required for STEP-NC machining and to show how a STEP-NC repository can support the complete process for machining. A STEP-NC database schema has been constructed and several query functions have been built for the purpose of implementing the retrieving system of a STEP-NC database. The EXPRESS data model of ISO 14649 has been mapped to the database data definition language of the Oracle database. To apply the STEP-NC database to an industry example, the ISO 14649 part program has been stored into the STEP-NC database. To implement example scenarios, the sample query interface has been built.

  • Recently, database technologies have been used commonly. But, ordinary technologies aren't suitable to construct a complicated database such as a classical literature database or an archaeological relic's database. Because this kinds of data are semi-structured data that doesn't have regular structures, database schema can't be defined before databases. We have proposed DREAM model for semi-structured databases. In this model, a database consists of five elements and the model has operations similar to operation of set theory. And further we have introduced dynamic schema "shape" showing structure of each element. We have already realized a prototype of DBMS adopting DREAM model (DREAM DBMS) and constructing function of shapes. However, shape is imperfect to describe database structures because it can't explain nested structures of elements. In this paper, we will profuse a "shape graph"that is dynamic schema showing database structures more exactly and extend the DREAM DBMS. Further we will evaluate the performance of constructing function of shapes and shape graphs.

  • Query language has been widely used as a convenient tool to obtain information from a database. However, users demand more intelligent query processing systems that can understand the intent of an imprecise query and provide additional useful information as well as exact answers. This paper introduces a meta-database and presents a query processing mechanism that supports a variety of intelligent queries in a consistent and integrated way. The meta-database extracts data abstraction knowledge from an underlying database on the basis of a multilevel knowledge representation framework KAH. In cooperation with the underlying database, the meta-database supports four types of intelligent queries that provide approximately or conceptually equal answers as well as exact ones.

  • The component reliability database is required in PSA (Probabilistic Safety Analysis) for NPP (Nuclear Power Plant). We have applied a generic database to the PSA for the Korean NPPs, since there is no specific component reliability database. Therefore we are developing the plant-specific component reliability database for domestic NPPs. We also extend the experience and knowledge of PSA and component reliability database for NPP to chemical industry We collect the raw data like component operation history and maintenance history and then input the required data for the component reliability database through failure analysis. With the database, we can not only perform PSA with real data but also perform maintenance optimization.

Interface between Geometric Kernel and Database for a Ship CAD which has a STEP Database as the Native Storage (STEP 데이터베이스를 Native Storage로 가지는 3차원 선체 CAD에서 형상 모델링 커널과 데이터베이스간의 인터페이스)

  • It is difficult to support collaborative design with a conventional ship CAD system which manages design information using files. In this research, file storage has been replaced with a database. This paper describes the OpenDIS which is an interface between the geometric kernel and the database. Its main purpose is to implement the CAD system which has the STEP database as the native storage. A prototype CAD system has been implemented using that OpenDIS interface which is implemented by OpenCascade geometric kernel and the Objectstore object-oriented database. The STEP methodology is used as the database schema. This CAD system has been applied to the hull design of a ship in order to verify the usefulness of the interface.

  • This paper describes CAD tools for the construction of image database in IC chip analysis CAD system. For IC chip analysis by high-resolution microscopy, the image database is essential to manage more than several thousand images. But manual database construction is error-prone and time-consuming. In order to solve this problem, we develop a set of CAD toos that include image grabber to capture chip images, image editor to make the whole chip image database from the grabbed images, and image divider to reconstruct the database that consists of evenly overlapped images for efficient region search. we also develop an interactive pattern matching method for user-friendly image editing, and a heuristic region search method for fast image division. The tools are developed with a high-performance graphic hardware with JPEG image comparession chip to process the huge color image data. The tools are under the field test and experimental resutls show that the database construction time can be redcued in 1/3 compared to manual database construction.
