The purpose of this study was to analyze the electrostatic experiments introduced in secondary science textbooks and to propose the effective methods for students to understand the concepts based on the experiments. Thus, five kinds of existing textbooks were selected, and the experiments presented in them were categorized into triboelectricity, contact electrification, electrostatic induction, and electrostatic discharge. This study suggested more simple and effective ways to understand those phenomena so that students can infer the kinds of charges, conservation of charge, electrostatic force, electrostatic induction, electrostatic discharge, and others.
