  • The recognition of emotionality becomes so important that it is called' emotional consumption society'. Emotional design, which is mostly concern about user's consensus & experiences and in the space, is appeared on commercial place. Emotional design is understanded from a Interactive point of view, human and interior-space. The purpose of this study is to examine the emotional design by analysis of multiple-commercial-functioned shopping places. Specially, the most recently remarkale Jerde partnership's shopping space in Japan. Jerde partnership' project theme is creative experience by making place and experience design. Though, they weren't claim to stand for emotional design, but presented an emotional element in the shopping mall works.

  • This study aims to examine the comprehensive and diversified meanings of emotional design through the literatures analysis, and to redefine the emotional design based a variety of standpoints according to the researchers and philosophical discussions up to this time. In addition, this study tries to analyze the features of the emotional design in space design by analyzing the cases in which the current emotional design is applied to the actual space based on the various kinds of studies on emotion. The analysis result is to be revised and complemented with the verification of the preceding researchers and experts on the emotional design. And this study also presents the designs of living space by taking advantage of the analyzed features of the emotional design.

  • The subject of 'Emotional Design' is appeared recently as one of the important issues in design field. 'Emotion', which has been underestimated since Kant and should be reevaluated from now on, is one of the basic two elements with reason which constitutes human nature. The purpose of this study is to research emotional design method appeared in the works of Steven Holl who is considered one of the influencing architects because of his unique methodology in developing the emotional design. The results of this study are as follows; 1) Emotional aspects were implied in his concepts by the way of emphasis on phenomenology in dealing with question of perception. 2) Emotional aspects were interwoven in his form and space as related to his concept. 3) Emotional aspects were shown in his way of developing his ideas with water coloring, in deriving his concept from other genre(especially from literature) and in the articulation of details. As a result, his unique way of implying emotional aspects which is coming from in-depth research of human nature as well as his own instinct were all interwoven in concept, form, and space together as a total way of thinking.

  • The recognition of emotionality becomes so important that it is called 'emotional consumption society'. The emotional design, which is mostly concerned about users consensus and experiences, is understood from a interactive point of view, human, and space. Today, the emotional design is a new paradigm. From this point of view, this paper, which presents patterns analysis of outdoor lighting by the emotional design, applies expression techniques of the emotional design in Analysis process of outdoor lighting patterns. Also, this paper shows examples at analysis process.

  • This paper introduces a design of multi-dimensional complex emotional model for various complex emotional expression. It is a novel approach to design an emotional model by comparison with conventional emotional model which used a three-dimensional emotional space with some problems; the discontinuity of emotions, the simple emotional expression, and the necessity of re-designing the emotional model for each robot. To solve these problems, we have designed an emotional model. It uses a multi-dimensional emotional space for the continuity of emotion. A linear model design is used for reusability of the emotional model. It has the personality for various emotional results although it gets same inputs. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our model, we have tested with a human friendly robot.

  • This study is to analyze and determine the emotional design on domestic rec-education space, in order to propose a way to design children rec-education space. A study is on reviewing needs and verify categories of emotional design through interior design of rec-education space, A study procedure will begin with theoretical proofing of children rec-education and move on to needs of emotional design in interior design and types of analysis for it. With this procedure, we will project adequate way for emotional characteristics in rec-education space and will analyze types of it from interior design of rec-education space in nine different domestic brands. With this background, we like to present methods and reveal characteristics of it. The conclusion on this study is described as followed. First, children rec-education space has positively carried types of emotional characteristics: experimental, continuity, and symbolism. Second, Some precondition; application through types of pattern, experimentation on light in space, continuity on linear interior space composition, symbolism in abstract implementation, and physical control over designed subject, has low effectiveness on creating emotional space by applying such scale matters. Third, the actual interior design subject matters and supporting facilities' textural accommodation is inadequately built for their majority, children, whether it is direct or indirect for contact. Forth, Even though to carry emotional space needs some kinds of story telling and prerequisite sequential space composition, there are lack of applicable space compositions. For this reason, it needs on going study in emotional space for children rec-education space. Last, there are needs for researching a depth understanding and presenting different characteristics of emotional interior design by brands.

  • Digital technology makes changes of people's behavior style and characteristic of space in which people live. Therefore, we need to adjust conceptual meaning related to digital technology properly. For deriving emotional interactive space design, we need to understand following meanings: the meaning of interaction and interaction design, the meaning of emotion and emotional design, the meaning of space, emotional design, and interaction design in digital society. Consequently emotional interactive space design makes people satisfied with their five senses, communication with people increase and enable people to experience something new that they haven't experienced before transcending time and space.
