  • To realize the self-driving technology, there have been various system designs based on the related V2X standards, especially the IEEE 802.11p and WAVE standard supporting the WLAN V2X communication. On the other hand, the new standard IEEE 802.11ba defining supplementary wake-up radio operation is now under standardization targeting the low power operation, and it includes the V2P operation in use cases. However, if IEEE 802.11ba is used with the IEEE 802.11ba for V2X operation, the additional transmission procedure of wake-up frame in IEEE 802.11ba may cause the congestion problem and fails to meet the delay requirement. In this paper, the system structure of the combination of IEEE 802.11ba with the 802.11p is studied. In addition, based on the analysis and simulation, the considerations and improvements for effective low-power V2P communication in future self-driving technology using IEEE 802.11ba are proposed.

  • The WAVE specification, which for the Next-Generation ITS environment is a common title: IEEE 802.11p and IEEE P1609 specifications. These days, there are many activities for researching WAVE specification by release of the IEEE 802.11p specification. The difference between high-speed vehicle environment and the indoor environment, the wireless communication channel mode is that much more severe. Thus, the wireless communication system design, temperature, noise, multipath fading and can degrade the performance of the system points should be fully considered matters of. In this paper, we showed WAVE wireless communication system which based on IEEE 802.11p PHY/MAC design process, and also showed solving process many implementation problems.

  • In his paper, embedded system implementation for IEEE802.l1p based OFDM-DSRC is presented. After the IEEE802.11p physical layer specification is introduced and BER performance of the modem is evaluated by simulation, implementation aspects of the system such as system architecture, design method and implementation results are addressed. Implemented embedded system for the OFDM-DSRC communication consists of FPGA, flash memory, ARM9 CPU Core, peripherals, etc. from the results, it is shown that the implemented system operates well according to IEEE802.11p specification. It is expected that implemented embedded system shall be used for wireless communication system such as ITS application by enhancing system optimizing.

  • IEEE 802.11p is a representative PHY/MAC layer standard in vehicular communications. The performance of IEEE 802.11p based communication systems has been measured in various criterions such as link setup time, error rate, and throughput for the case of one-to-one. In this paper, we measure the performance of IEEE 802.11p based communication systems in large capacity transmission. The performance of large capacity transmission is measured by considering the maximum 32 simultaneous transmission including one-to-one transmission. We consider two transmission schemes, i.e., broadcasting and unicasting, and the performance is represented as the receiving rate and throughput.

  • In this paper, we analysed and simulated the high speed mobile wireless channel for IEEE802.11p WAVE/DSRC standard draft. IEEE802.11p working group measured and suggested 6 channel model for WAVE/DSRC systems which is used for vehicle to vehicle or vehicle to infra communication. However, the models only provides numerical model, it did not provide Computer based software simulation model. So it can not be used directly for performance estimation of WAVE system. In this paper we suggested simulation technique of WAVE channel simulation which is developed S/W based WAVE channnel simulator. The simulation results for PSD, LCR, and AFD are also obtained, which can be used for performance estimation of IEEE802.11p based vehicular communication system.

  • This paper presents BER, FER performance comparison, especially on PHY mode of IEEE 802.15.4g and IEEE 802.11 under AWGN channel through a simulation, which is communication method using identical frequency bandwidth in M2M environment. This considers suitable communication method of required parameter. It is advantageous that FSK method is used in situations where the system require low complexity and inexpensive structure. And OFDM method is considered for system performance. Further, when the high throughput and various traffic characteristics of the system are required, it can be considered that the method of IEEE 802.11 OFDM PHY mode is used.

  • Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based IEEE 802.11 a/g systems which are widely used in wireless LAN carry out channel estimation in one time per packet since the systems use only preamble. Whereas, midamble based channel estimation supports continuous channel estimation by tracking the channel state information periodically. Using IEEE 802.11p Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments (WAVE) system, we analyze the performance of the proposed system via practical measurements. Based on these results, practical issues on midamble based channel estimation are investigated.

The proposed scheme proposes a channel access method utilizing OFDMA multi-user transmission for IEEE 802.11p based system. In this paper, the authors examine geographical distance and network area performance of IEEE 802.11p system and the proposed scheme. Results of this research show that the proposed scheme is quite suitable for improving conventional V2X standards and systems.
