Purpose: The purpose of this paper is integrated tolerance design process by advantages of engineering design and 6 sigma statistical tolerances design. Methods: Integrated tolerance design process can determine the goals by using engineer's experience and clarify tolerance by 6 Sigma statistical methods. Integrated design process can be applied by using non-linear simulations. Results: We applied integrated design process to the optical disc drive spindle motor and get good result. Conclusion: If this method is applied test method in the early stages of development, then Design can be reduced development time and cost.

As AEC(architecture, engineering and construction) industry becomes larger and more complex, much information is going into each part and phase. Therefore, the existing building design process has to change and collaboration is emphasized among participants in various fields. The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze existing building design process and integrated building design process based on BIM using a IDEF0 methodology. And then, it establishes a desirable domestic integrated building design process application plan focusing on the design phase of domestic cases. As a result of analysis, flowing conclusions are included ; Firstly, problems occur on the existing building design process that are accomplished with focusing on the outcome. It makes much errors because of 2D-based information. Another problems is that collaboration doesn't go on smoothly. But, integrated building design process is accomplished with the collaboration and the coordination which pursues change and perfects cooperation. Secondly, BIM is a process of effecting optimum integrating, re-using information, and expense reduction throughout the life-cycle of a building. Moreover, it establishes a basis for the integrated building design process to build a collaboration system.

This paper will describe integrated system design process and its application. Integrated design process is performed activities concurrently and sequentially for product development. For a group of activities to be truly integrated, the flow of deliverables among them must be well defined, and committed to. For this purpose, the study will suggest procedure that is executed context analysis of standard process, interface definition from activity decomposition, integration of related activities, and definition of concurrency & sequential activities flow, This procedure and method will contribute to minimize time loss that is emerged from activities iteration by not definitely definition of activities interface.

An entity-based integrated design product and process model uses product and process entities to describe design information and design activities, respectively. The concepts and notation for product and process entities in the entity-based integrated design model are similar to the concepts of object-oriented programming languages such as C++ and Smalltalk. This paper uses C++ to program an entity-based integrated design model for building frames structures. The design information and activities involved in the three dimensional building space, the locations of frames, and the grouping of frames represented as entities in the entity-based integrated design model are transformed to C++ codes. Each product or process entity can be basically transformed to an class. The attributes of an entity can be defined as variables and member functions of a class.

This paper introduces an experimental design studio that explores the optimal use of current digital technologies in order to employ Building Information Modeling at the early phase of design process. Based upon the outcomes from the aforementioned studio, the paper discusses the integrated design strategies for BIM in the design process. In this paper, BIM is proposed as a design tool that increases an overal design productivity more effectively and efficiently compared to BIM as a construction tool with encouraging a design communication among different partakers in the design process.

This study introduce a architectural design process by the changes of sustainable design guidelines in public project. First of all, this study examines existing integrated design process studies performed by Rhee & U.B.C. Also, this study examines sustainable guidelines which demanded by public building projects. Then, this study introduces sustainable design process using existing sustainable design process, and shows that how to operate and proceed integrated design to satisfy the sustainable guidelines in practice. The results of this study are as follows. (1) Since 2007, sustainable design guidelines of bidding projects have been highlighted. (2) In public buildings, energy saving is very important issue. Especially energy certification demands 1st degree(under $300kWh/m^2{\cdot}yr$). (3) Inp ractice, integrated design team performed sustainable design using the sustainable design process to improve sustainable in public buildings.

These days, architectural projects are becoming larger and more complex. And lots of information occurs through each phases and areas. For these reason, it is emphasized that collaboration with other parts. Therefore we need more effective architectural design process. However, it is difficult to collaborate in early stage with existing design process and it causes unnecessary spending of time and cost because of 2D-based working system. For solving these problem, we should introduce BIM-based Integrated Design Process which makes it possible to collaborate with other parts from early stage. Now the AEC industry in Korea has been trying to introduce BIM, and promoting variety of related business. However, for actual application of this system, it is unfortunately necessary to change various system throughout the construction industry. And this will cause lots of effort and expense. It is essential that scientific analysis and evaluation of efficiency and validity about this investment, because estimation of the investment and accompanying effects will provide reasonable standard of judgment for investment decision. Thus, this research conducted Cost-Benefit Analysis about BIM-based Integrated Design Process compared to existing design process. It is expected that this paper can be used for preliminary data in the future BIM market.

However, in the time of the environmental preservation, there is the need for the introduction of the systematic green design process because no existing design process theories could give the rational design tool far the integrated design with environmental factors. Public institutions and owners have been introduced to use Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools. Learning BIM becomes an important factor in design process of undergrad program. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate an integrated architectural engineering design process using BIM tools. BIM education programs are analyzed to compare the level of detail in BIM education. An architectural engineering design class needs to involve BIM to introduce integrated process. An architectural engineering design process needs be based on understanding design, building structure, construction and building services. 3D Modeling helps understanding a building structure and checking environment-friendly element analysis. As a result of this research, new process of design education is proposed under four issues.

The current market preassure of least environmental effects of products needs companies to consider whole life cycle of their products during their design phase. To support the integrated and collaborative development of the products, this paper proposed product data model for extended Product Data Managemen (PDM) that can support integrated design of product, manufacturing process, and customer services, based on the consistent and comprehensive PDM databases. The product data model enables design, manufacturing, and service engineers to express their products and services efficiently, with sharing consistent product data, engineering changes, and both economical and environmental evaluations on their design alternatives. The product data model was implemented with a prototype PDM system, and validated through an example product. The result shows that the PDM based on the proposed product data model can support the integrated design for products, manufacturing process, and customer services, and provide an environment of collaborative product development for design, manufacturing and service engineers.
