  • An experimental study was conducted to investigate the effects of leading edge extension(LEX) on the surface prssure distribution over a delta wing in a subsonic wind tunnel. Freestream velocity was 40m/sec and Reynolds number per meter was 1.7x$10^6$ with total pressure of 101Pa and total temperature of 278K. LEX changed the surface pressure distribution on the wing dramatically. Comparing with the results without LEX, the peak of pressure distribution decreased on the front chordwise location but it turned to increase on the rear chordwise location with increase of the angle of attaci. The spanwise gradient of the pressure distribution also increased in the rear chordwise location. Without LEX, the peak of pressure distribution increased and decreased irregularly with increase of the angle of attack at each chordwise location, but LEX made it increased almost linearly with increase of the angle of attack at all of the chordwise locations.

  • Lex arbitri, a law that regulates arbitration procedures at arbitral seat, can be viewed as an additional procedural law. In addition, the lex arbitri refers to mandatory provision imposed by each country on arbitrators in their own territory. The reason is that the lex arbitri often relates to matters of public policy of the place of arbitration. In Korea, the LMAA terms is frequently mentioned in the shipping industry in Korea, and the LMAA terms clause is often set up in the contract between Korean companies. However, the study of the UK Arbitration Act 1996, which regulates the LMAA arbitration, is not so much in Korea. On the other hand, Lex Arbitri, a corporation that regulates mediation procedures in arbitration, can be viewed as an additional procedure. There may also be procedures that must be followed compulsorily by the Arbitration Act of Arbitration. The reason is that Lex Arbitri seems to be related to the public policy of the arbitration. Therefore, the arbitration law of the country of arbitration seat may be the most important regulations in relation to the legality of the arbitration procedure. If the proceedings of the arbitration violate the Lex Arbitri, the arbitral award may be nullified. The purpose of this study is to analyze the arbitration theory, international arbitration and Lex Arbitri, focusing on the UK Arbitration Act 1996.

  • This paper aims to describe KorLexClas 1.5 which provides us with a very large list of Korean numeral classifiers, and with the co-occurring noun categories that select each numeral classifier. Differently from KorLex of other POS, of which the structure depends largely on their reference model (Princeton WordNet), KorLexClas 1.0 and its extended version 1.5 adopt a direct building method. They demand a considerable time and expert knowledge to establish the hierarchies of numeral classifiers and the relationships between lexical items. For the efficiency of construction as well as the reliability of KorLexClas 1.5, we use following processes: (1) to use various language resources while their cross-checking for the selection of classifier candidates; (2) to extend the list of numeral classifiers by using a shallow parsing techniques; (3) to set up the hierarchies of the numeral classifiers based on the previous linguistic studies; and (4) to determine LUB(Least Upper Bound) of the numeral classifiers in KorLexNoun 1.5. The last process provides the open list of the co-occurring nouns for KorLexClas 1.5 with the extensibility. KorLexClas 1.5 is expected to be used in a variety of NLP applications, including MT.

  • Highly swept leading edge extensions(LEX) applied to delta wings have greatly improved the subsonic maneuverability of contemporary fighters. Fundamental approach by PIV method was adopted to study the basic flow of the vortex pair formation appearing on a delta wing model with or without LEX. Three angles of attacks$(16^{\circ},\;24^{\circ},\;28^{\circ})$ and four measuring section of chord length(LEX-on) and three section(LEX-off) were selected as experimental conditions. From the PIV analysis, maximum vorticity was found at a given chord length and maximum velocity was also detected at larger chord length where stronger vortex was generated. Furthermore, the effect of LEX was remarkable at the vortex pair distance indicating narrower distance at LEX-on case.

  • The development and interaction of vortices over a delta wing with leading edge extension (LEX) was investigated through off-surface flow visualization using micro water droplets and a laser beam sheet. Angles of attack of $20^{\circ}$ and 24$^{\circ}$ were tested at sideslip angles of $0^{\circ}$, $-5^{\circ}$, and $-10^{\circ}$ The flow Reynolds number based on the main-wing root chord was $1.82{\times}10^{5}$. The wing vortex and the LEX vortex coiled around each other while maintaining comparable strength and identity at a zero sideslip. The increase of angle of attack intensified the coiling and shifted the cores of the wing and LEX vortices inboard and upward. By sideslip, the coiling, the merging and the diffusion of the wing and LEX vortices were increased on the windward side, whereas they were delayed significantly on the leeward side. The present study confirmed that the sideslip angle had a profound effect on the vortex structure and interaction of a delta wing with LEX, which characterized the vortex-induced aerodynamic load.

  • The vortex flow and aerodynamic load characteristics of a $65^{\circ}$ sweep delta wing with the leading edge extension in sideslip condition is investigated experimentally. The freestream velocity is 40 m/sec, which corresponds to a Reynolds number per meter of $1.76{\times}10^6$ based on the wing root chord. The angles of attack range from $12^{\circ}$ to $28^{\circ}$, and the sideslip angles treated are $0^{\circ}$ , $-10^{\circ}$, $-20^{\circ}$. The LEX vortex of the leeward side. The LEX and wing vortics coalesce to to become a concentrated strong vortex or to break down at down at downstream position. Due to the interation of the LEX and wing vortices, a high suction pressure is maintained on the windward wing surface, and a low suction pressure is formed on the leeward wing surface

  • An experimental study was conducted to investigate the effects of a leading edge extension(LEX) on the vortex flow field over a delta wing by measuring the total pressure distribution in a subsonic wind tunnel. Freestream velocity was 40m/sec and Reynolds number per meter was $1.76{\times}10^6$. The wing with the LEX experienced a strong interaction between the LEX and wing vortices. As the angle of attack increased, the coupled vortex field of these two vortices maintained its strength and concentricity much better than the vortex field over the wing without the LEX.

  • An experimental study of the vortex interaction characteristics of a delta wing/LEX configuration was conducted in a wind tunnel using the micro water droplet and laser beam sheet visualization technique. The main focus of this study was to analyze the effect of the angle of attack and sideslip angle on the vortex interaction and vortex breakdown. These tests were accomplished at angles of attack between $16^{\circ}$ and $28^{\circ}$ and sideslip angle between $0^{\circ}$ and $-15^{\circ}$ at free-stream velocity of 6.2 m/s. Flow visualization data provide a description of the vortex interaction between LEX and wing vortices, and of the vortex breakdown. The introduction of LEX vortex stabilized the vortical flow, and delayed the vortex breakdown up to higher angle of attack. The vortex interaction and breakdown was promoted on the windward side, whereas they are suppressed on the leeward side.

  • Highly sweep leading edge extensions(LEX) applied to delta wings have greatly improved the subsonic maneuverability of contemporary fighters. In this study, systematic approach by PIV experimental method within a circulating water channel was adopted to study the fundamental characteristics of induced vortex generation, development and its breakdown appearing on a delta wing model with or without LEX in terms of four angles of attack($15^{\circ},\;20^{\circ},\;25^{\circ},\;30^{\circ}$) and six measuring sections of chord length($30{\%},\;40{\%},\;50{\%},\;60{\%},\;70{\%},\;80{\%}$). Sideslip effect in case of the LEX was also studied for two sideslip(yaw) angles($5^{\circ},\;10^{\circ}$) at one angle of attack(20). Distribution of time-averaged velocity vectors and vorticity over the delta wing model were compared along the chord length direction. Quantitative comparison of the maximum vorticity featuring the induced pressure distribution were also conducted to clarify the significance of the LEX existence. Animation presentation in velocity distribution was also implemented to reveal the effect of LEX with wing vortex interaction.
