In this paper. we propose an interactive broadcasting system based on MPEG-4 to provide Interactive services in digital TV broadcast. The proposed system is designed to support various functionalities such as authoringof MPEG-4. encapsulation of MPEG-4 Into MPEG-2 TS (Transport Stream) protocol, synchronization of MPEG-4 with MPEG-2 program. demultiplexing of MPEG-4 from MPEG-2 TS. decoding/rendering of MPEG-4 and interactivity through IP network on ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) platform. The interactive broadcasting system based on MPEG-4 Is used to provide interactive functionality In full for user. and it has a particular advantage of substitution for the ATSC or DVB platform. as well.

We propose a method of the efficient injection of the MPEG-4 data into MPEG-2 A/V stream. The proposed method is to transmit MPEG-4 data synchronized with MPEG-2 A/V stream using MPEG-2 Transport Stream Protocol so that the user can decode MPEG-4 data on time at the client side, after extracting IOD (Initia1 Object Descriptor), OD (Object Descriptor), BIFS (Binary Format for Scone) and media data from mp4 file.

MPEG-4 컨텐츠는 비디오, 오디오 파일을 비롯하여 다양한 타입의 미디어로 구성되는 복합 멀티미디어 데이터이다. 본 논문에서는 MPEG-4 컨텐츠 생산을 위해서 저작 환경을 제공하고 이를 MPEG-4 파일로 생성하는 MPEG-4 컨텐츠 저작 도구를 제안한다. 특히 제안하는 MPEG-4 저작 도구는 AVI 형태의 동영상 자료를 입력 받아, MPEG-4 오디오, 비디오 데이터로 변환하고 이를 MPEG-4 장면 저작에 이용할 수 있다. MPEG-4 컨텐츠는 MPEG-4 파일로 구성되며, 장면 구성이 배제된 오디오, 비디오로만 구성된 MPEG-4 파일과 전체 미디어 데이터가 하나의 장면으로 생성된 MPEG-4 파일이 될 수 있다.

디지털 방송의 발달로 인해 현재 방송 환경은 사용자가 단순히 제공되는 콘텐츠를 감상하는 수준에서 사용자가 콘텐츠와 직접 대화하는 대화형 방송이 발달하고 있다 MPEG-4 콘텐츠는 이러한 대화형 방송에 매우 부합되는 콘텐츠이며, 그 사용이 점차 증가하고 있다. 향후 MPEG-4 콘텐츠가 널리 이용될 때, MPEG-4 콘텐츠에 MPEG-7 ES를 하나의 미디어 데이터로 간주하고 MPEG-4 콘텐츠에 포함하여 전송한다면, MPEG-4 콘텐츠의 검색 및 관리가 용이해질 뿐만 아니라 MPEG-7의 다양한 기능과 결합한다면 MPEG-4 콘텐츠의 응용을 더욱 풍부히 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이를 위해 MPEG-4 콘텐츠에 OCI 기술자 또는 MPEG-7 ES를 포함한 MPEG-4 콘텐츠를 재생할 수 있는 MPEG-7 over MPEG-4 시스템디코더와 그 구조에 대해 서술하였다.

MPEG-4 is a digital bit stream format and associated protocols for representing multimedia content consisting of natural and synthetic audio, video and object data. This paper describes an application where multiple audio/visual data stream are combined in MPEG-4 and transported via MPTG-2 transport streams(TS). Also, this paper describes how to convert MPEG-4 Over MPEG-2 TS bit streams into MP4 file which Is designed to contain the media information of an MPEG-4 presentation in a flexible, extensible format. MPEG-4 is presented in the form of audio-visual objects that are arranged into an audio-visual scene by means of a scene descriptor and is composed of the audio-visual objects by means of an object descriptor. These descriptor streams are not defined MPEG-2 TS. So. this paper focuses on handling of these descriptors and parsing TS streams to get MPEG-4 data. The MPEG-4 Over MPEG-2 TS to MP4 format converter is implemented in the demonstrated systems.

Moving Picture Expert Group(MPEG) is the organization foundedin 1998 to establish the standards for compressing and expressing the multimedia contents. The organization has established the technological standards such as MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and MPEG-7. As the 3D video related standards, there is Multiview Profile which is included in the MPEG-2 video of 1996. However, as the MPEG-2 multiview profile is the standard for compressing the videos from two viewpoints on the object, it is not enough to meet the requirement of multiviewvideo technology. In addition, it does not have the technology on the viewpoint switching that it does not provide the services such as the user interaction. This paper proposes the structure in which the specific viewpoint can be described for video switching in addition to the current MPEG-4 system.

본 고에서는 MPEG에서 현재까지 진행되어 온 MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, MPEG-7 표준에 대해 간단히 소개하고, 새롭게 표준화가 진행되고 있는 MPEG-21에 대하여 자세히 살펴보기로 하겠다. 현재 MPEG-21의 표준화를 위하여 기술보고서 초안이 작성되고 있으며 전체적인 요구사항과 그와 관련된 기술들이 조사되고 있다. 따라서 본 고에서는 MPEG-21의 요구사항을 중심으로 MPEG-21의 표준화 동향에 대하여 살펴보기로 하겠다.

MPEG-21 표준화는 다양한 비즈니스 모델과 수시로 변화하는 소비자의 요구를 만족시킬 수 있는 멀티미디어 프레임워크 구성을 목적으로 만들어졌다. ISO/IEC JTC1 SC29에서 현재까지 진행한 MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-3, MPEG-4, MPEG-7 표준에 이어 MPEG-21이 등장하게 된 배경과 함께 본 고에서는 사용자 요구사항을 기반으로 총 7개의 프레임워크 요소로 구성되어 있는 MPEG-21의 표준화 동향에 대하여 살펴보았다.

Our study focus on the investigations of the effect of IPRs, the relationship Digital TV with MPEG-2, and the MPEG LA stands. MPEG LA, which build up the strong patent pool, manage to IPRs system of MPEG-2. And we examine the influence of the effect for the. patent of Digital TV and IPRs based on MPEG LA Licensing agreement. Results of this study shows that to be valuable the IPRs of MPEG-2 related to Digital TV, Korea needs the strategies for effective IPRs negotiations and technical accumulation through offensive patent management, and so on.

MPEG 오디오 그룹에서는 오디오 부호화 기술의 국제 표준으로 MPEG-1 오디오, MPEG-2 오디오 BC, MPEG-2 AAC의 규격 제정을 완료하였고, 현재 MPEG-4 오디오 및 MPEG-7 오디오의 국제 표준을 제정하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이들 표준에 대한 요구 기능 및 기술 특징을 분석하고, 각각의 표준에 대한 응용분야와 향후의 계획에 대하여 기술한다.
